Chicago Readers!! Capone Tell You How To Get Into The Chicago Premiere Of THE FOOT FIST WAY on June 3!!

Published at:  May 27, 2008 10:20:12 AM CDT

Hey folks. Capone in Chicago here.

I made a sacred vow to the people of Chicago that I would fill their summer with many a free screening, and now I've got a doozy for them: the Chicago premiere of THE FOOT FIST WAY on June 3 at a theater in downtown Chicago.

For those of you scratching your head about what the hell THE FOOT FIST WAY is, this martial arts comedy (from the creative team of Danny McBride, Ben Best, and Jody Hill) has been floating around the festival circuit and among comedy giants in Hollywood for a couple of years now, generating the kind of buzz you don't normally hear for a comedy. McBride has even carved out a nice career as a result of this movie, appearing most recently in such films as HOT ROD, DRILLBIT TAYLOR, and the upcoming PINEAPPLE EXPRESS and TROPIC THUNDER. I believe he's also playing Will Stanton in LAND OF THE LOST. As for FOOT FIST WAY, Will Farrell and Adam McKay finally just said, "Hey, we're putting this fucking thing out," and so they will shortly. All I know is that for more than a year now, all of the other Ain't It Cool writers have seen this damn thing and been rubbing my face in how great it is.

I've got a truckload of passes (each one good for the winner and a guest) to give out to those of you over the age of 18. All I need from you is to send your name, age (IDs will be checked), phone number, and an answer to this very simple question: What is your favorite martial arts style? Is it the Flying Monkey? Crouching Tiger? Rabid Weasel? Hairy Badger? Licking Codfish? Let me know.

Send this information to fistchicago@hotmail.com with the subject line "FIST ME!" Winners will have their pass e-mailed to them with the time and location of the screening. Do not mail this to me! No deadline on this one; we'll just cut it off when we feel like it (or when the server crashes). If you've never heard of this film, this might be that one time this summer where you just need to trust me. This is one of those movies you need to check out, and tell the world about after you see it.

Good luck.

    This might be CRAP!

    by jjn1268019

I saw the guy who plays the main guy on LateNight and he was a total ass, was trying to stay in character and be funny by being a dick and it just seemed retarded, I think the movie is going to try and be like Napoleon Dynamite but not PG and more about the karate guy... I dont know, I think it's gonna turn out to be CRAP, definetly not worth seeing in the theaters, maybe worth renting...

I thought it was pretty funny, but then again a lot of my friends are into taekwondo and this kind of reminded me of them. I would say that the movie is definitely flawed and a lot of people are not going to think it is funny at all.

got danny mcbride's foot/fist in the door by casting his friend in All The Real Girls. If you want to see quite possibly the greatest deleted scene of all time featuring this hilarious man, peep this:

it has some funny moments. Sometimes straight funny, sometimes that kind of uncomfortable funny. The film doesn't have the polish of a Mike Myers studio flick, nor could it, at the tiny budget the filmmakers worked on. This is their breaking-in project, so if you, Lashlarue, hadn't heard of it before, so frakking what. The movie's already done what the trio set out to do with it - established themselves as filmmakers to get their next bigger projects, including, in McBride's case at least, as an actor as well.

They took a big personal financial risk and jump-started their dream of filmmaking careers. Hats off to them.
