Merrick here...

A 9 minute Cannes promo reel for John Woo's RED CLIFF is currently online in a form that appears neither official or long lived.

LOVE the shot that starts on the horse soldiers, pulls back past the onlookers, then lands on the warriors-in-training...cool.

You can see it...

Hopefully we'll get to see someone leaping through the air firing two cross bows at the same time

    seriously,

    by mc-909

Every one on screen in that promo is a playable charcter in the Koei game. The "boat-burning" scene is an actual mission you can play (with the assistance of Zhuge Liang controlling the wind...also seen in the trailer) I've played the shit out of that game and now my inner nerd has it's chance to shine. John Woo made a fucking Dynasty Warriors movie. I am sold.

I like these types of movies

    by frakthetoasters

I like these types of movies with fantastic battles that aren't all CGI. Plus a good story and an attractive female lead makes it all the more worthwhile. I wonder if it will be released in the States?

NOT live action 'dynasty warriors.' lol

    by rockmsockm

Not saying this is YOU, MC, but I REALLY hate when uninformed people say (and they have), "why are they making yet another videogame adaptation? Do we really need a Dynasty Warriors movie?"

I mean, come on people, do they teach history anymore? lol

WHAT? Zang Ziyi is not in it? Is she dead?

    by theycallmemrglass

Seriously though, this trailer was Extraordinarily UNspectacular. I remember the time when John Woo was the man. He seems to have lost the magic a long long time ago. In compensation he decides to litter the film with his trademark white doves. Not saying this films looks terrible, it just looks so ordinary.

I am very much aware it is not a video game adaptation and instead based on history (the game makes it clear the characters are based on real people). But they used the exact same stories and characters that the game depicts and plus it's John Woo, so that makes it all-good in my book.

PS: I have played that damn game way too much.
