ARRESTED’s Judy Greer Snags Lead In HBO’s SUBURBAN SHOOTOUT Pilot!!
I am – Hercules!!

Judy Greer (“Adaptation,” “13 Going On 30,” “Arrested Development,” “27 Dresses”) has been tapped for a central role in the pilot of “Suburban Shootout,” Barry Sonnenfeld’s HBO adaptation of the 2006 British comedy
.

Apparently it’s about rival gangs of pistol-toting hausfraus.
Co-stars on the project include Kelly Preston (“Medium”), Kerri Kenney (“Reno 911!”) and Rachael Harris (“Notes From The Underbelly”).
Greer’s participation in any series version is dependant upon the status of Greer sitcom “Miss Guided.” ABC has until the end of next month to pick up “Guided” for a second season.
Find today’s Hollywood Reporter story on the matter here.

Greer is a very underappreciated actress. And she makes my pants hurt.
-
Yeah, meh.
-
Let's hope she's playing a smart-ass best friend who hold a quip for every occasion.
-
but I guess it's canceled. Bill Parnell was gold in that.
-
AD WAS THE BEST
-
Haven't seen you around the Lost TB lately. Then again, a lot of folks are avoiding it - worried about getting spoiled.
-
I agree - loved his asst. principal character! The rest of the show was so-so, but she's always likable.
-
or is that dead already?
-
or is that dead already?
-
I love them like pancakes.
-
For nomination consideration, that is:
Best Actor: Edward James Olmos (Sine Qua Non)
Best Actress: Mary McDonnell (Faith)
Best Supporting Actor: Jamie Bamber and Michael Hogan (Sine Qua Non); James Callis (He That Believeth in Me)
Best Supporting Actress: Tricia Helfer and Grace Park (Guess What's Coming to Dinner); Katee Sackhoff (Six of One)
How fucking off-the-chain fantastic must Sine Qua Non BE if Olmos, Bamber and Hogan are making it their tape?

Anyone else happy that CBC shows Arrested Development on weekdays? Basic cable, too. Every day! Whole series done in about 2 and a half months. Awesomeness.
-
Hell to the yeah, she was one of the funniest, haha.and yeah I'm real Excited about The finale of Lost
-
I hate Rachael Harris like poison.
-
I feel sorry for anyone that considers themself straight, and doesn't see that...so jerk of to Pamela Anderson pics from 10 years ago... Rachael Harris is hilarious and gorgeous, Greer is as well...and don't get me started on Zoeey Deschanel
-
Of course you have to have mrfan in the middle.
-
She's done a shit load of films but you credit her as a costar from a tv show. And it's a shame about Greer having to do tv now. For a time there, she was really having a good career in film.
-
UP HERE MICHAEL! UP HERE!
-
Now where the fuck is the Preacher series you promised?
-
with guns?
-
You heard it here - for about the thousandth time. (Obvious irony intended).
-
Sorry, had to...
-
She was in like four episodes. I watch that show and I don't even remember her. If you're going by number of credits, she was in more episodes of Fat Actress. As for films, she was in Jack Frost (the Keaton one, not the good one), Sky High, Cat In The Hat, Jerry Maguire, From Dusk Til Dawn, Amazon Women On The Moon, 52 Pick-Up...
-
But the original Surburban Shootout used to air on TV here in Canada, and it wasn't very worthwhile...
-
Suburban Shootout (the original Channel 5 version) was a flop here in the UK. A one-joke 'dramady' that I'm amazing is being remade when there are/were so many good UK series that would benefit from a little US gloss (such as UltraViolet).
Having said that, I do have a soft spot for Judy Greer so I hope they take the premise, ditch everything else and have a hit.
-
The original is a giant piece of crap and the best example that the brits have no reason to judge over US-Comedy. The Office, Little Britain or Coupling are the exception of the rule. Most of their comedies are so silly that it hurts...in a bad way.
-
I moved to the states from England last year, and basically all new tv is old tv from somewhere else (usually the uk) with worse writing.
-
me gotta have!
-
This weekend HBO airs Recount, about the 2000 presidential election and Florida. It's been very well recieved, and its the first filmed screenplay of Danny Strong, the beloved Jonathon from Buffy. He was one of my favorite secondary characters, and I was suprised to see his name in the writing credits. Okay, now back to your regularly scheduled talkback.
-
Then name 3 britcoms out of the last 10 years that are better than The Office UK, Coupling or Little Britain. Extras doesn't count cause it's half HBO. League of Gentlemen is in the same league as Little Britain.
-
Shameless, Green Wing, Supernova s1
Named and done.
Maybe Pulling. -
Amelia Bullmore, Joyce, in her undies.
My fucking god did she have a tight body.
Everytime I saw her in Ashes to ashes it was the only image in my head. -
...NO! Did we try it with glasses on, hair up? Looks like someone has been in the Kitty! (Me loves my Arrested Development!)
-
but that may be one of the worst comedies of the century. I've seen better german comedy! What next? My Family and Honest? ;)
-
Darkplace on the other hand is a bad, bad, baaaaad ripoff from Lars van Triers Riget. I didn't have seen any other from the mentioned series but I have heard nothing good about Father Ted.
-
Up here Michael! Up here! God I love AD.
-
I meant that League of Gentleman is just as good as Little britain. The humor is sometimes very similar. Even some of the characters. For example Marjorie Dawes in Little Britain and Pauline in League.
Darkplace is not only bad compared with Riget. Nothing wrong with a GOOD remake or ripoff. Like The Office US or Stromberg. Darkplace is bad because it's not funny. -
German comedy? Honestly, I've never seen or even heard of such a thing. It must exist, but if so, it goes unnoticed by the world, like Eskimo winemaking.
-
But I'd hit it after 6 beers anyway!
-
If you're gonna rip-off a UK show there are plenty of better ones to steal.
-
...in "Little Britain." We all know it's "Wee Britain." And I agree, "Never promise crazy a baby!"
-
You are right, Toonol. Good german comedy is rare like an english soccer player who is good at the penalty shoot out. There are only 4 german comedies i wouldn't be ashamed of calling them good and 3 of them are remakes. Stromberg (german version of The Office. Even better is a parody in the sketch comedy show "Switch" called "Obersalzberg" in which Hitler is the boss of the Office http://tinyurl.com/4ownpc ), Pastewka (german version of Curb your Enthusiasm), Dr. Psycho(not a Remake but a little like Monk meets Rescue Me) and in the Seventies Ein Herz und eine Seele (german version of "All in the Family"/"Till Death Us Do Part").
-
And that picture is one of my least favorite of her. Anyway, Judy is awesome. I'd watch her in anything. Wasn't Rachel Harris on Daily Show for a while? She was the 'female reporter' before Samantha Bee. Even though Rachel's hotter, I guess Ms. Bee fit the tone of the show better. And then Harris did Geico commercials. Now she has a career, apparently.
-
IT Crowd has to be the funniest new show from across the big pond.
The fucking broke google scene was utterly hilarious. -
Alan Partridge, first, was closer to Fernwood Tonight in origin.
-
Peep Show - Particularly the first couple of series, though I think the current series is blissfully back on track. The Peter Serafinowicz Show - Best sketch show of recent times. I loved that it wasn't afraid to go weird. Plus his impressions are tops. Pulling - Someone mentioned this already didn't they? I concur. Gavin And Stacey - Again, someone else said this. I concur again.
-
50 Cent gonna make guest appearances?
Really now, housewife gangbangers? Sounds like a totally different, albeit more interesting, subject. -
Fernwood Tonight was a spinoff of Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman.
Fred Willard was awesome as the second banana always trying to undermine Martin Mull onstage.
-
Pulling is very similar to the uncomfortable approach of the Office.
-
Yes, Pulling and The Office are uncomfortable at times. I might be a tad odd because I enjoy this kind of stuff. I named 'Peep Show' above too, which at it's very best has you cringing and thinking "Oh my God, no......"
-
... unfortunately, even the people who'd made it admitted they got it wrong.
-
So sorry Misguided was cancelled. ABC execs have their heads up their own asses when it comes to scheduling. Fuck Dancing with the Stars! She has performed so well in films and I can see her carrying Surburban Shootout over here without a problem. Greer and Julie White are great comedy no matter what dreck they're in. To GQ: There aren't as many decent film projects in H'weird as there are decent TV series. Yeaaaay! Ugly Betty's moving to NYC!
-
It was fucking awful.
-
And she shows them in Adaptation (the only reason to watch that piece of shit) and What Planet Are You From? They point out and up like perfect breasts should. If she shows them on HBO I might watch this. Otherwise, why should I bother with a remake?
-
Seriously guys dont hold your breath on this one....the British version was bad beyond belief..AWFUL and simply NOT FUNNY
-
Instead of stupidly trying to remake a great show and failing (like the McSpaced fiasco) they're remaking something that's so shit that anything they do can only be better. Put a few half-decent jokes in it and they might have an ok show on their hands. It could be the Ocean's 11 of the sit-com world.
