Donnie might be out of his element, but he's now IN REVOLT with Michael Cera and Ray Liotta!

Published at:  May 20, 2008 3:06:08 AM CDT

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. The adaptation of CD Payne's YOUTH IN REVOLT, adapted by Gustin Nash, (director) Miguel Arteta and Michael Cera, is in development at Dimension.

They've just got a few more castmates, including Ray Liotta, Jean Smart and Coen regulars Steve Buscemi and M. Emmet Walsh. I forking love M. Emmet Walsh. I loved him in BLOOD SIMPLE, I loved him in CRITTERS, I loved him in HARRY AND THE HENDERSONS, BACK TO SCHOOL, BLADE RUNNER, THE JERK and everything I've seen him in.

Michael Cera plays the lead, a teen who meets his dreamgirl on a family vacation and ruins it for the rest of his family when he puts his new sweetheart before them. Buscemi plays his father.

    I love these headlines

    by napoleon park

that don't make sense until you read the article, and sometimes not even then. Isn't that the opposite of what a headline is supposed to do? You know, grab attention, draw the reader in?

It makes perfect sense when you're drunk. This one has something to do with Harry's weight, I think.

... this is shaping up very nicely! Whatever happened to Confederacy of Dunces?! (I want P.C. Hoffman NOT Will Ferrell!)

    Awesome

This used to be in my top books, and it's great to see it coming to the big screen. Cera is perfect for the role, as is Buscemi. I just hope they can bring all the same spirit to it.

You forgot about Walsh in the legendary "Raising Arizona" ... "No, not that mother-scratcher.."

Cera's career is his to ruin, but for the most part he is in good things and his performances make them better.

Cera is way too old for this part

    by turdferguson44

It's been awhile since I've read the book but I think Nick Twisp was 13 to 15 during the book, that's kinda of what made the book and situations so funny. I know Cera's passion for the project but he may be doing it a disservice by taking the lead.

    M. Emmet was also great in Clean and Sober with Michael Keaton.
