Leth directed GHOSTS OF CITE SOLEIL, which is about the haunting of a visually obscure, generally overpriced, heavily merchandised French circus that...oh...it's about the last days of Jean-Bertrand Aristide's Hatian government.

OLYMPIA is scripted by SAVING PRIVATE RYAN's Robert Rodat (who also wrote THE PATRIOT for Emmerich & Devlin); his work was subsequently rewritten by Gavin Hood (who's now directing X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE).

is set against the backdrop of the ancient Olympic Games in Greece as war waged between Athens and Sparta.

When I first saw the Variety headline referencing the title of this film, my mind immediately jumped to Leni Riefenstahl's 1938 documentary OLYMPIA chronicling the 1936 Olympics/NAZI propaganda jamboree in Berlin.
