The First Review of FUTURAMA: "The Beast With A Billion Backs" Is Now Online!! All Hail Zapp Branigan!!

Published at:  May 19, 2008 9:29:09 AM CDT

Merrick here...

Screen Jabber has posted (what I believe is) the first review of the FUTURAMA DVD "The Beast With a Billion Backs". Like the previous DVD ("Bender's Big Score"), "Beast" will eventually be broken down into 20-something minute installments for airing on Comedy Central.

So the main storyline is about a giant tentacle monster having sex with everyone in our universe.

...says THIS ARTICLE at Screen Jabber, which goes on to reveal a considerable number of insane sounding spoilers.

Fans of Zapp Branigan should rejoice, he apparently gets a lot of screentime here. I really love the character; so this is fine by me.

At the bottom of the article, there's also an interview with John Di Maggio - the voice of Bender on the series.

The project sounds off-the-hook, and I can't wait.

Beast with a Billion Backs taken from "Othello"

    by cookylamoo

Where Iago tells Mr. O that Desdemona and Casio (not the watch) have been making "The beast with two backs." In this version it seems that everyone is getting it on with the space alien which is at least a little less depressing than "Cloverfield."

It's always a little sad to think of the possibilities if Phil Hartman had been around. I may be mistaken, but I think the character was originally conceived for Mr. Hartman to voice. Zapp's still pretty great as is though.

benders big score was good. The paradoxical time travel stuff was really funny. And bender acknowledging this made it all the more funny. Zapp rules, its a good time to be alive when they keep pumping out futurama movies let alone episodes!

    Splitting the movie up...

    by bizarrojerry

Did they actually air it as separate episodes on Comedy Central. I knew they said they would, but I didn't notice when they did. They first just aired "Bender's Big Score" as the movie in one piece. I didn't notice if they chopped it up later. And, how can you hate Bender and like Futurama?

I was never that into Futurama, it was OK but I prefer South Park and Family Guy. And I thought Bender's Big Score was an overlong piece of shit. If this one is as bad there's no way I'll even bother watching it.

The most unfortunate part of "Bender's Big Score" was how it crapped on great episodes, like "Jurassic Bark" and "The Luck of the Fryrish", to make a mediocre episode.
