Published at:  May 16, 2008 3:42:35 AM CDT

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. Comingsoon.net got their hands on the premiere of the final HELLBOY II poster and I like it a lot. The color scheme is good, the hero pose is great... Cool stuff.

I've also heard the movie has started to screen internally and the word is great on it so far. Can't wait to see it myself! Enjoy the poster and you can click thought to ComingSoon to get the big version!

yeah, its a good way to sell it. Del Toro (do you capitalize "del" if its at the beginning of the sentence?) is gonna get a lot more renowned from Pan's Labrinth, so this is playing off that, I think. Yeah, the punchy punchy ground thing is kinda Hulkish, but hey, its violence in a non-violence kinda way. Smart advertising during campaign times. hmmmm.

    by chicagoronin

Personally, I have mixed feelings about the first Hellboy film. I thought the look of the film was great, and really enjoyed the casting and characterizations (Ron Perlman especially), but the actual plot left me a bit cold. The action scenes felt more obligatory than inspired, and the climax of the film was, well, anticlimactic IMHO. However, I'm hoping that the above was simply a case of Guillermo del Toro continuing to refine his chops working on a Hollywood movie (Love his Spanish-language stuff, especially "Pan's Labyrinth").

    by theghostwholurks

We KNOW Hellboy's the good guy, because — since this is the SEQUEL — audiences have seen that in the FIRST film. And the poster is beyond bad: a straight SIDEVIEW of Hellboy punching the ground??? Who's he fighting? What's the threat? Where's the excitement, for an action film? NO dramatic angles???And possibly worst of all: The FOCUS of the poster (Hellboy) is squeezed in the middle and only takes up a third of the poster!!! The rest is empty space, taken up by dark clouds above and ground below!I nominate this as dumbest and most lackluster action movie poster of the year! BLECH! >:P

    by strosmer

With all the hype surrounding Iron Man, Indy and Dark Knight, Hellboy II is coming in under the sumemr movie radar. But once it is released, I think it will be a real treat for fans of the comic and Del Toro. After the success of Pan's Labyrinth, Del Toro has more control of the reigns now, and can now unleash the newly refined visual style he established in PL. From what I've seen in the trailers, HB2 promises to deliver far more interest and excitement than its predecessor, which wasn't all that bad. I'm looking to Hellboy II as a refreshing oasis in the desert between Indy and Dark Knight.

Blade 2 was way the hell better than the other two

    by crichtonastronut

Blade movies. 1 was good, but didn't quite hit great. Blade 3 was of course a total mess that seemed unable to decide what story it wanted to tell until the last frame. Blade 2 was Awesome. It had balls, it had heart, the best story, the best characters, the action, and yes, even the best acting of the three.

I think it is funny that Ron Perlman can

    by skimn

only get leading man roles when he's covered in latex (Hellboy, Beauty And The Beast, Quest For Fire).I hope this doesn't turn out to be another Riddick...big budget sequel to an original that did better on video than theatrical..

Poster design? Just send it to the unimaginative Mac dept.

    by the_other_lebowski

Some one mentioned Struzan earlier and his HB2 poster is nice, though I liked his poster for the first flick best. The new one looks more like a comic cover than a movie poster (which given the subject matter isn't such a terrible thing).
I know there are some Struzan haters out there but at least there is still a poster artist out there (yes, I know more than he still exist...)
I just get tired of all the crappy photoshop posters out there now. Add this one to the pile.

This poster sucks (but I'll see the movie anyway)

    by big dumb ape

I'll see the movie anyway since I'm a geek and the summer is my favorite movie-going season. What can I say? I'm still a big kid at heart who prefers big budget doofy summer movies over the heavy-handed Oscar drama bait that will start clogging the screens in the Fall. That said, I think the poster is incredibly lackluster given the trailer we've seen. For crying out loud, he's kneeling as if he's either winded or needs to take a crap, which is about as un-actionful and un-heroic as you can get... there's no sense of him squaring off against anyone or anyTHING (considering he'll be fighting monsters)... oh yeah, and for extra action, he's punching the fucking LAWN. Wow! That gives me shivers right up my spine!Basically, it's nice to know that Hellboy is so strong and heroic in this thing that he can beat up a few blades of grass.Sorry, I agree with others. I may not like the latest INDY poster since it's yet another floating heads poster (which desperately NEEDS to be retired for a long, long time as a poster design theme), but I can still appreciate Struzan's actual artwork versus yet another Photoshop "meh" image. Truth be told, I'm really unimpressed by this given how cool the trailer looked overall...

    Even though I love Elfman...

    by osmosis jones

A.) He's done the superhero thing TO DEATH, and B.) Marco Beltrami wrote some excellent thematic material for the first film, so it'll be sad if none of it is expanded upon in the sequel. I want the Hellboy/Liz love theme back! :(

    Osmosis

I totally agree about Beltrami's music deserving further exploration. I thought his stuff for Terminator 3 was pretty bland, but I really enjoyed his Hellboy music - there was some real heart to it, as well as great action/adventure type cues.

    Poster's okay, trailer's pretty good...

    by reprobus

..though there's a shot of him pushing his way past some folks or cops, and I could swear his big demonic forearm bounced around like it was styrofoam secured with masking tape. Bugs me when stuff like that makes it in cuz I can't help but notice it every time I see the movie (ie. '89 Batman's belt slipping an inch while he's looking up at the joker's helicopter)
