This is not JJ Abrams' Enterprise...

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. I love that above image, created by Gabe Koerner, who you may remember as being one of the central figures of the Star Trek fan doc TREKKIES. It's a beautiful image, something that would be impressive to see on the big screen.
So, I love it and I hate it. We've been getting it emailed to us for what seems like years. Because it is so well done, everybody thinks it's from JJ Abrams' movie. It is not... and it's possible Abrams' final version won't be as nice as Gabe's work, but it's not from the flick.
Every few months or so the picture pops up and we have to respond to those who email in with it with something like what I've written above. Now it's on Digg and we're getting a large number of emails about it. We appreciate the readers sending us information and that information is what gives this site its identity. We just want to make it clear to everyone that the above image of the Enterprise is not what we'll see in JJ Abrams' STAR TREK.

Does this have anything to do with TDK?

...either way, I'm not CRAZY amped about STAR TREK (Abrams). I will probably check it out, but man I tried to watch CLOVERFIELD for a second time the other day...that is undoable. I skipped to all the part where you saw the creature.

I mean, all the Enterprises look about the same to me. I'm not much of Star Trek fan, but I can't tell the difference between the Enterprise A and the Enterprise C. It's all the same to me.

There was a time when one of Harry's minions woulda tracked down the actual image of the Enterprise, instead of "Nope; this *still* isn't the one."

Just sayin.

Time to call it a day fellas.

JJ is a fucking non talent hack. Cloverfield is shit. Glad I didn't pay for it and I'm glad I only waisted 10 minutes watching only the begining. He'll fuck Trek straight up the ass for a paycheck. Do you think this guy really cares about Trek? Nope.
-
Besides we have already seen a composite of the front view of the new E over at Screenrant cobbled together and lightened from the HD trailer. JJ E looks like an almost exact cross between the two coolest Enterprises (Kirk Movie E and The original) And his appears to be way more massive, Galactica massive. This looks to be the biggest Enterprise yet.
-
You know, you would think by now that anyone who frequents this site and/or others like it would know by now that image isn't from the new Trek feature.
-
has come a long way since those painful, embarrassing scenes in Trekkies...
-
I mean there are obvious differences, but I checked out the Screenrant image and the real Enterprise and this dude's phony aren't seemingly *that* different. I mean, there are only so many variations you can make on this design anyway.
To get dorky for a sec, I hated "D" cuz it looked like a cruise ship, and the "B" which was the Excelsior. This reboot seems to have more in common with "C" than anything else. Who knows. Who cares. -

That design looks almost as bad as a continuity busting Kurtzman/Orci script!

they printed it because a) everyone has been bugging them about it so they wanted to set the record straight, b) Quint likes the image and respects the mount of work that went into it, and c) it's gotten some recent attention that might mislead people.you know how I know this? because it says so in the goddamn article.brain donors like you that love to slag AICN every 2 seconds, whether they deserve it or not, are less than a dime a dozen in the talkbacks. do us all a favor and if you can't hold your tongue, go ahead and swallow it.

Alas, the only spaceships we have are boring. They don't even have lasers or nothing! They just go up, fly around, put up satellites, and blow up. BORING! I want cool spaceships with lasers and stuff that can go faster than the speed of light. Dear God, please make cool spaceships soon. Love, LaserPants.

hey, it's the original Enterprise with Enterprise-E highlights..

look at the lighting, shading, textures, warp nacelles - almost straight from First Contact.
That aside, if Abrams makes Star Trek like he made Mission Impossible, it's a resounding "meh" from me.
-
The reason Star Trek died was because it was clichéd and used the same damn plots over and over. I don't see a remake changing this. Good riddance to bad rubbish I say. Have someone make a movie out of good sci-fi instead, like "The Man in the High Castle".
-
Get over it already!
-
stick to the look of the show. stop trying to cater to modern audiences
-
not too far removed from the original in terms of general shape and proportions. Hopefully whatever they use for the movie is as faithful.
-
Makes me think what a Star Trek RPG from Bioware (people who did Knight of the Old Republic and Mass Effect) would look like.
Actually that'd be pretty awesome. -
I hope at the end of the movie Charlie X wakes up on Talos IV.
-
Crap all over JJ, Claim righteous indignation at the marring of Star Trek and mourn what might have been, crap all over JJ once more, exclaim how wretched Cloverfield was, claim complete disinterest in the new Star Trek, repeat. Eventually, go see the new Star Trek and legitimize it with your dollars at the box office, and then go crap on it and JJ in future talkbacks. If you guys were a movie, you'd be as shallow and derivative as the movies you claim to hate.

I'm glad that you guys showed me this image then told me it's fake. My life has been forever altered by this article.

They read this site right? I'm hoping that's why this was posted.

(sorry, someone had to say it).
-
...the perspectives of various parts of the ship are off in relation to each other. The stock photo background is a little cheesy, too and the lighting doesn't match up with the lighting on the "Enterprise." Nice work for a fan, though.

A little bulky but beutiful picture. Also it's orbit look at the top of the picture you can see the curve of the planet.

Interesting I found this link on Gabe Koerner's myspace page. If they wanted to hide this in plain sight this would be a great way to do it. Lots of hi res images and quicktime clips. Apparently this goes directly to a directory listing.

Very neat... lots of images of this version (hi-res at that) I've not seen before.
No matter what I'm a die hard purist... and I love this take on the TOS Enterprise! -
Where's the Death Star?

...douche? I don't watch Lost but I really liked Cloverfield and have a good feeling about his version of Trek but seeing some footage of him talking he seems like yet another talented yet obscenely narcissitic and self-absorbed asshole (like I've heard about Cameron, etc).Still looking forward this Trek regardless. I think Abrams should use the theme song to "Enterprise" tho...that song wins the Frank Stallone hall of fame award hands down (sorry Frank but you're like the champ of schmaltzy, sentimental and annoying songs).
-
I think they need to add some hot rod red.

then the gay model from 40 year ago. I like the background too with the sun reflecting off the Enterprise and Earth. It actually looks.... well real.

The mindnumbing ignorance here is overwhelming, your statements are sorely needed.

Trippy. Gabe's in that and he has a girlfriend too. I guess there's hope for all of us.
-
isn't an original. It looks exactly like one of the early designs for Star Trek Phase 2/The Motion Picture before they came to the final design in the first movie. Also, I don't think it's Star Trek fans that should really be scarred but the people who watch Lost. That whole show seems to depend on the explanation they're going to give at the conclusion of the series and unfortunately Mr. Abrams has a pretty consistent track record for creating a lot of hype and then rolling snake eyes on opening day. Witness MI3 and Cloverfield. If Star Trek craps out, he's three for three. I want to watch Lost but my absorbing the entire show on dvd after it's done depends on what the fans who are currently watching the show will say of the conclusion and I have a strong feeling that after that last episode there's going to be a lot of Lost fans saying "Fuck, I wasted 5 years of television viewing for that crap? That's the explanation? Give me a fucking break!" But what else could you expect from JJ "the emperor has no clothes" Abrams. He looks like another rich kid, overeducated douchebag with no real life experience but was told he was "special" from the day he was brought into this world simply because of the tax bracket he was born into. Jesus, I think I would rather have Berman and Braga back over this overpriveleged asshole.
