Esai and Edward James Olmos played brothers (albeit, in different time periods) in "Mi Familia". I'll buy them as father and son (againt, in different time periods). Now, they just need to cast Jimmy Smits as Esai's father in flashbacks and they really got something to be proud of.

What show are you watching? Are you sure it's not the original BSG? BSG has what most say to be the most solid plot on TV right now. . . Nevermind, this really isn't something that needs to be debated.

Although I think that this idea kinda sucks overall. I hope that RDM and the rest of the crew do not decide to leave out pertinent background info about the cylons on BSG just to be able to have a show that will end up being cancelled anyway. Good choice for Joe Adama though.

I thought, in a previous report about the Caprica series, the last name of these characters weren't 'Adama' but 'Adams' or 'Adam'.

Thus, Bill "Adam-A" is the first skin-job cylon man ... the last of the Final Five. Pretty easy to see, in my opinion.

I know BSG is a work of science fiction and all that, but making it so that Adams's pop helped create the first cylon stretches the realms of believability a bit too far for me. I completely agree with tylerzero's idea of Apollo being a Cylon. I always thought that to be honest. Still, i trust the writers enough that they could do it in a cool way. BSG's scripts are some of the best on TV.

Esai Morales is a really great actor who has not gotten his due. And yes, both he and Olmos were in Gregory Nava's excellent movie "Mi Familia" and the "American Family" TV series.
Still, I'm still not sure why in the frelling frak SciFi would cancel their awesome BSG to go back in time and tread water with this show, much less postpone the final ten episodes of BSG for another year. Man, wotta buncha jackasses.

    snowpuff, it makes perfect sense

    by thehichhiker

Maybe it is not so dumb nor is it a coincidence. I bet you anything it'll be something along the lines of Bill Adama dies young (if he existed at all) and "Grandpadama" (love that name) dedicates his cylon connection power to creating a replacement/son. It makes perfect sense then that the final five are all ended up on the one ship that survives the attack and run by one of them. So everything happening on "BSG" show is a direct result of actions of the "grandpadama" in "Caprica" show. Of course that probably makes Apollo yet another half-breed making Boomer's baby even less "special" (note how that thread just disappeared from BSG).Just a thought. Wonder if the Bob Dylan "activation" call was triggered by Adama Sr too?

    Bill Adams Theory

    by secretcylon

Intoverted 9 year old. His dad had a hand in making cylons. Maybe Bill Adama is one. Maybe young Bill is so traumatized by the loss of his mother, the loss of his girlfriend in Razor, etc, that he can't stand losing people anymore. Maybe Tigh really did commit suicide in that season 2 flashback and Adama made a cylon version of Tigh, got him back in the fleet, etc. THis would explain why Adama is always forgiving him (and eveyone else). Adama can't let go of anyone "i'm putting this fleet, this family back together." He wouldn't leave Kara behind when she crash-landed. Maybe chief really did commit suicide and Adama "cyloned" him as well. He also disappeared for a while before Ellen Tigh magically reappeared. She said she had no memory of where she was or had been, she just woke up and Adama was creepin around her bed. Maybe Cottle's been helping him all along. Maybe this is the "big sin" of his past. In the boxing episode, Adama talks about not letting "this family" disband again. He's got serious attachment issues. Plus if he was downloading his favorite people into new bodies, (like the folks on Caprica will do) it explains how Tigh and Chief could have lived a full lives. I know this theory doesn't explain Tori/Anders, but I'm just having fun here. It also explains why Adama gets so super-upset when people die out of reach from him (like his son) cuz then he can't make the Cylon/zombie/Pet Cemetary version of them. Please don't make fun of me for this. Thanks! Also later in Season 4 (MINOR SPOILER) he talks about not being able to live without Roslin. Seems he can't live without lots of people...

    Okay

    by secretcylon

All i'm saying is that it's Science Fiction things change all the time, people come back from the dead, etc. In the Caprica character descriptions, it says that Greystone's (Greyson? Greystoke?) daughter was researching how to download herself at the same time that he is developing the toasters, and that she is better at it then him.
ALso, the first downloads where into holographic avatars (In heads?) Also, the Greyson Greystoke guy tries to use the technology to resurrect his daughter. So all of this seems to be happening at the same time (whether we like it or not).

    The production design of Caprica

    by prof. pop-cult

One thing I'm wondering about is what the production design of Caprica will be like. For BSG, the production design and costumes are generally like late 20th century/early 21st century Earth. So what will buildings, vehicles (I assume they will be cars), and the fashion style be like on Caprica? The 1950s, post-War America?

I'm not even necessarily disagreeing with you, just sort of playing devil's advocate. There's something lame about the Carpica premise (very prequel-ish, very small world, Vader built C3P0, etc.) yet there's something intriguing about the idea of Adama's connection to the Cylons and it's implications for BSG. I guess i'm just placing my trust in RDM. I read in an interview once where he promised not to become like Rodenberry and Lucas (especially Lucas) and drink his own cool-aid and get an inflated sense of himself and what he does. I guess we'll see...
