It'd be nice to see the ship at its commissioning ceremony in one scene.
-
Nice to see him get some variety in his work. Did a nice bit in Burn Notice as well.
-
not sure what else they can do to make this series viable, but this is the a positive step.
-
"WHADDYA THINK THE WHOLE FREAKIN WORLD REVOLVES AROUND YOU!"
-
ah, the parallals with his grandson.
-
BSG has really lost the plot.
-
Esai and Edward James Olmos played brothers (albeit, in different time periods) in "Mi Familia". I'll buy them as father and son (againt, in different time periods). Now, they just need to cast Jimmy Smits as Esai's father in flashbacks and they really got something to be proud of.
-
Also, is Galactica Season 4 still being split in two?
-
Didn't they play father and son in reverse in another movie? Maybe I'm thinking of someone else. Anyway, Esai also did some good work in the final season or two of NYPD Blue.
-
"BSG has really lost the plot."?????????
What show are you watching? Are you sure it's not the original BSG? BSG has what most say to be the most solid plot on TV right now. . . Nevermind, this really isn't something that needs to be debated. -
but it better be as inconsequential as Razor turned out to be with regard to the series as a whole. If BSG ends with questions that I gotta wait for Caprica to have answered I am gonna be one pissed off dude.
-
Here's one of those riddles: If Bill's father, Joseph is Latino and Bill is Latino, but Bill's son, Lee is not Latino, what does that make Lee? A FUCKING CYLON.
-
Just dumb that Commander Adama's dad helped created the cylons, then Commander Adama helped start the war, then all the cylons ended up on his ship...
Dumb! -
As in, cancelled immediately. Sounds completely uninteresting.
-
And I don't care about the whole "it was planned" mumbo jumbo.
It's dumb. It pushes the whole thing too far. Adama's Dad was not involved in the creation of the cylons. I refuse to accept it as canon.
Nah nah nah nah, can't hear you, Ron Moore. -
SOMEONE had to say it. . . -
Although I think that this idea kinda sucks overall. I hope that RDM and the rest of the crew do not decide to leave out pertinent background info about the cylons on BSG just to be able to have a show that will end up being cancelled anyway. Good choice for Joe Adama though.
-
and can drop totems like bad habits. RECOGNIZE, PUNK!
-
Lords of Kobol, stop this nonsense.
-
I thought, in a previous report about the Caprica series, the last name of these characters weren't 'Adama' but 'Adams' or 'Adam'.
.......
Thus, Bill "Adam-A" is the first skin-job cylon man ... the last of the Final Five. Pretty easy to see, in my opinion.
-
So say we all.
-
When Adama's dad was mentioned with the lawyer stuff he was definitely called Adama by Romo Lampkin, not Adams or Adam.
-
... and that's a big question mark. But when the first reports on the Caprica series were released, they called the characters 'Adams.' I'm sure I'm right. Herc - can you help?
-
So say we all. How can SciFi get great actors like him? The money and the production schedule must me kick ass. Ten episode season made in 3 months. Next season production starts again in one year. FUCK SciFi!
-
...per Herc. Something to do with Joe Adama changing his name from its Tauronian roots to something more..."Caprican."
-
I know BSG is a work of science fiction and all that, but making it so that Adams's pop helped create the first cylon stretches the realms of believability a bit too far for me. I completely agree with tylerzero's idea of Apollo being a Cylon. I always thought that to be honest. Still, i trust the writers enough that they could do it in a cool way. BSG's scripts are some of the best on TV.
-
Other recent Caprica casting news: Grandma Adama = Rosie Perez, Adama's buddy Julio = George Lopez, The Janitor at Caprica University = Jimmy Smits, Inego Montaya = Mandy Patinkin, Ritchie Valenz = Lou Diamond Phillips.
-
Shatner as his older dad would have been sweet and a ballsy move. Pussed out and played it safe.zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
-
Thought he was the best part of Jericho. Like Olmos, Morales has that grumpy-brooding thing down to a science.

It just makes sense that the 5th (and first) cylon is ...
by holyguacamole
... Adam-A. The first man - the first cylon ... they share the same name..........and if the father-character is named Adams, involved in creating the skin-job, well, that's just too coincidental.
-
You know you wanna say it.
-
as a CGI Cylon.
-
This was meant to be.
-
without actually checking it out.
-
the first drama series ever on broadcast tv to feature a Latino cast, and the first primetime American episodic drama on PBS in decades. Esai was one of EJO's sons. I never saw this; just sharing what I found.
-
I'm just sayin'.
-
So far the casting for Caprica is the only thing that interests me in checking out this prequel.
-
fools!
-
Esai Morales is a really great actor who has not gotten his due. And yes, both he and Olmos were in Gregory Nava's excellent movie "Mi Familia" and the "American Family" TV series.
Still, I'm still not sure why in the frelling frak SciFi would cancel their awesome BSG to go back in time and tread water with this show, much less postpone the final ten episodes of BSG for another year. Man, wotta buncha jackasses. -
Maybe it is not so dumb nor is it a coincidence. I bet you anything it'll be something along the lines of Bill Adama dies young (if he existed at all) and "Grandpadama" (love that name) dedicates his cylon connection power to creating a replacement/son. It makes perfect sense then that the final five are all ended up on the one ship that survives the attack and run by one of them. So everything happening on "BSG" show is a direct result of actions of the "grandpadama" in "Caprica" show. Of course that probably makes Apollo yet another half-breed making Boomer's baby even less "special" (note how that thread just disappeared from BSG).Just a thought. Wonder if the Bob Dylan "activation" call was triggered by Adama Sr too?
-
yay!
-
He didn't get sick from radiation of Ragnarok. Or have the new Cylons made all the rules obselete, even the most basic ones?
Skinjobs didn't exist prior to the Cylons creating them. The Cylons on Caprica should all be the toaster old school kind. -
Intoverted 9 year old. His dad had a hand in making cylons. Maybe Bill Adama is one. Maybe young Bill is so traumatized by the loss of his mother, the loss of his girlfriend in Razor, etc, that he can't stand losing people anymore. Maybe Tigh really did commit suicide in that season 2 flashback and Adama made a cylon version of Tigh, got him back in the fleet, etc. THis would explain why Adama is always forgiving him (and eveyone else). Adama can't let go of anyone "i'm putting this fleet, this family back together." He wouldn't leave Kara behind when she crash-landed. Maybe chief really did commit suicide and Adama "cyloned" him as well. He also disappeared for a while before Ellen Tigh magically reappeared. She said she had no memory of where she was or had been, she just woke up and Adama was creepin around her bed. Maybe Cottle's been helping him all along. Maybe this is the "big sin" of his past. In the boxing episode, Adama talks about not letting "this family" disband again. He's got serious attachment issues. Plus if he was downloading his favorite people into new bodies, (like the folks on Caprica will do) it explains how Tigh and Chief could have lived a full lives. I know this theory doesn't explain Tori/Anders, but I'm just having fun here. It also explains why Adama gets so super-upset when people die out of reach from him (like his son) cuz then he can't make the Cylon/zombie/Pet Cemetary version of them. Please don't make fun of me for this. Thanks! Also later in Season 4 (MINOR SPOILER) he talks about not being able to live without Roslin. Seems he can't live without lots of people...
-
If you read these character explanations, you'll see that it is possible that skin-jobs existed before, or at the same time as the toasters: http://www.aintitcool.com/node/36264
-
Is that the cylons where created by man, they evloved, they rebelled (something like that) it doesn't really specify how or in what order.
-
All i'm saying is that it's Science Fiction things change all the time, people come back from the dead, etc. In the Caprica character descriptions, it says that Greystone's (Greyson? Greystoke?) daughter was researching how to download herself at the same time that he is developing the toasters, and that she is better at it then him.
ALso, the first downloads where into holographic avatars (In heads?) Also, the Greyson Greystoke guy tries to use the technology to resurrect his daughter. So all of this seems to be happening at the same time (whether we like it or not). -
Maybe this will be one of those Ellis Island situations where the Tauron name gets changed during entrance to Caprica.
-
Do the TEEEEEEEEEEEEN Cylons wear their ball caps backwards?
-
I hope they show the first war with the cylons. Sure they'll be as slow as tin cans with legs and just as advanced but this show needs the action, the battles and not just Adama's legal battles or the battles he has with his son.
-
One thing I'm wondering about is what the production design of Caprica will be like. For BSG, the production design and costumes are generally like late 20th century/early 21st century Earth. So what will buildings, vehicles (I assume they will be cars), and the fashion style be like on Caprica? The 1950s, post-War America?
-
I'm not even necessarily disagreeing with you, just sort of playing devil's advocate. There's something lame about the Carpica premise (very prequel-ish, very small world, Vader built C3P0, etc.) yet there's something intriguing about the idea of Adama's connection to the Cylons and it's implications for BSG. I guess i'm just placing my trust in RDM. I read in an interview once where he promised not to become like Rodenberry and Lucas (especially Lucas) and drink his own cool-aid and get an inflated sense of himself and what he does. I guess we'll see...
