Lost In Space and SOME PREQUEL NEWS!!!!

Ok before getting on with the Star Wars news, a little factoid came through just a while ago that Jerry Goldsmith has left the scoring chores on LOST IN SPACE. Apparently the job has been being offered around. David Arnold is too busy on Godzilla, Alan Silvestri is busy, and there are a slew of people wanting the job. Personally, I would modestly like to say that if at all possible... ya know if he ain't busy... no matter what it would cost... perhapssss..... maybee....... pretttty pleasssseee.... ummmm uh Johnny Williams is still scoring right? I mean he did the original theme. Perhaps begging is in order, or maybe pleading, maybe huh? Now I know, Williams is a busy guy, but this is an early fantastic highlight of his marvelous score, and wouldn't it just be geekgasmically spectacular to listen to the amazing orchestral revisitation to a tune long since past? Can't ya just hear it? Ok ok ok, I'll give ya some Star Wars news now...

I can't remember the name of this spy, I had an email eating happen when I was recording the sacred transcriptions to papyrus leaves, and missed out on his name, so I will name him after that famous amnesiac John Ballantine, who has those Dali-esque delusions from time to time. Damn those ski resorts!! Anyway, Mr Ballantine corrects a problem in his original information, and gives something new. And as usual with Amnesiacs, their minds can play tricks, so trust a piece hear and there. THERE ARE WHAT SOME PEOPLE WOULD CONSIDER SPOILERS, SO BEWARE!!!

First of all, I'm sorry to say I missed the mark a few times in my first mail. For one thing, the Jarjar character will NOT be of the same race as the Ree Yees character from Return of the Jedi. In fact, contrary to what I reported, he WILL be largely computer generated. Now, while I did see a Ree Yees mask, but this could mean 1 of 2 things: 1) They gave the actor the mask so that his co-stars have a better idea of what he might look like, or 2) I totally goofed and the masked character was NOT the same as Jarjar, but rather another actor that had a part only in the background.

For another thing, captain Paraka is NOT a bad guy. There are quite a few great bad guys in the film, but he's not one of them.

My apologies for these mistakes.

Now, as for the news I've found out: you've probably noticed that there's a lot of rumors about many different minor characters going around. This is because the film is filled with many characters that have small but significant roles in the story (comparable to Mon Mothma in Return of the Jedi or Admiral Piett in Empire Strikes Back). These include: Samuel L. Jackson (Jedi character), Jabba the Hutt (owns an illegal racing stadium), Oliver Ford Davies (Royal advisor), Bravo 5 (the first female fighter-pilot in the saga), Watto (junkyard owner), Threepio (yes, his role is smaller than usual in this one), several Mos Espa residents and lastly, captain Paraka.

Finally, word on the script is that it is amazing; much better than what the novels have served up to date and about on par with the original film. The many 'minor' characters supposedly add tremendously to the scope of the film. From what I've heard, though, there is a downside: the script tends to overplay its hand in terms of sentimental value, mainly regarding a certain eight year old kiddie...
