Tom Cruise To Star In Spy Thriller From 24 Writers Surnow and Loceff??
I am – Hercules!!
Tom Cruise continues to recruit from television.
Fresh from hiring “Battlestar Galactica” mastermind Ronald D. Moore to script an unspecified sci-fi movie trilogy, Cruise’s UA has now tapped longtime “24” writer-producers Joel Surnow and Michael Loceff to bang out a contemporary spy thriller for the big screen.
Recall that Cruise also plucked J.J. Abrams from a successful TV career to make his feature directorial debut on "Mission: Impossible III."
Martin Campbell (“Casino Royale”), just set to direct a new Mel Gibson starring vehicle “Edge of Darkness” (the actor's first in six years), will helm also the UA feature, but it’s unknown if Cruise will star in the spy tale.
Neither Surnow nor Loceff have yet seen any of their work in cinemas. Surnow recently developed the fake-newscast comedy series "The Half-Hour News Hour" for the Fox News Channel.

Yeah, those TV is teh ghey rumors are all old and busted, but still, if you had a chance to have frequent vigorous sex with Mimi rogers and you just said "Naw... I'd rather not" and just walked away... well, what does that say?Seriously, did you google with safe search disabled for those stills of her from A door In the Floor? Tits down to there and grey in the bush. Man, I'd have that for breakfast five days a week.

He's still a smart kid and I wouldn't count him out just yet.
-
just saying.
-
so he didn't fuck her much even when they were married.
-
...Tom Cruise in a live-action version of 'Captain Harlock'? Nerdy idea? Maybe. But I'd rather see that than more 'remakes' and 'reimaginings'. Fire away, haters.

Please, no questions.

Until I see that South Park episode back on the air again. Don't care if it can be seen online. It is the principle of the thing.

It was only shown once.

Rememer when a Tom Cruise film announcement shook the film world
by maxthesilent
Boy, it seems like so long ago now.
-
It's completely lost on me when people praise this. Mind you I don't like anything Abrams does. I'm not sure whether it is worse than MI2 (doves do indeed suck), but it was fucking dire in its own right.
-
He's not that high yet- I think that is his next step on the road to enlightenment (by when he will have paid the GDP of Bolivia to Scientology). At his current stage he believes he can move things with the power of his mind. This is fair enough. If you forked over hundreds of millions of dollars you would at least want superpowers. Otherwise you would be a mug that had been completely fooled by a group of charlatans that believe in a space Alien, and that we all have alien spirits living inside us. And nobody wants to be that cunt, do they?

Cruise will have a big comeback this year with his hilarious role in Tropic Thunder. The public will love him again.
-
To people who think he/his movies are all crap, may I refer you to THE COLOR OF MONEY, RAIN MAN, THE FIRM, COLLATERAL, MAGNOLIA, EYES WIDE SHUT, A FEW GOOD MEN, MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE.... OK, they're not Tarkovsky, but they're all good, well made, enjoyable Hollywood films.
-
He seems to be having a lot of issues with that one right now. They keep pushing the opening date back on it.
-
the Kobe Bryant of Hollywood.
-
that was wierd. anyhoo, of those films Eyes Wide Shut, A Few Good Men, The Firm, and Rain Man were hardly classics. And Cruise was shit in all of them.
-
ditto...+ Born on the Fourth of July, Risky Business... Even if he is gay, that guy gives you your money's worth (especially compared to the dull as fuck Keanu)
-
...is soooooo retarded...
From all account he's actually a genuinely nice guy - and this I've heard first hand from one of the leads on MI3 (who has slagged many other actors/actresses off for their behaviour).
Seems too many people haven't got enough of an IQ to realise everything you read isn't actually true... -
about how he's a legend in his own mind.
the part where he reveals he's a hero on his off days still cracks me up. never gets old. -
Wow. Epipheny much?
-
soooooooooooooo retarded

Did any of you guys actually see Fox News "Half Hour Comedy Hour"? If not, simply imagine Epic Movie and then try to think of something not as good or as funny as that, and there you have Fox News' Half Hour "Comedy" Hour. Biggest piece of shit show ever.
-
That one line essentially sums up Herc's posts.
-
...enough people? Nicole Kidman, their adopted children, Katie Holmes, their test-tube baby, Katie Holme's very Catholic father and mother, Oprah's couch, they gay community, closet door installers, everyone who watched that psycho youTube interview.... ad infinitum...

Do yourself a favour and get yourself some intelligence - This will most likely mean you end up with an opinion of your own, instead of behaving like a sheep following the mindless nonsense published by the press, or the stuff kicked around by other lame-brains who seem to have absolutely nothing better to do in life....
Is Tom Cruise really so important to you? Is there really nothing more important for your to bitch and whine about? -
Hmm...

As much as I'm skeptical of Tom Cruise, I'm happy he's pulling in good writers for ORIGINAL upcoming projects. I hope the projects are original, anyway. I've read that Ron Moore's trilogy might be an adaptation of something, but either way this whole hiring spree is pretty cool.
Whether you like "24" or not, the show has maintained its generally hard-edged spark and viewership for many years, mostly due to its writing. Surnow and Loceff have even elevated freakin' Kiefer Sutherland into a larger-than-life character, yet Bauer is now destitute, emotionally crippled, and, paradoxically, has lost his family and everything he ever loved. He's not a happy man and at this point he's running on fumes.
Compare this to other spy-thriller shows like, I don't know, "The Unit," where characters are essentially the same caricatures every week and no particular tragedy afflicts them. I like "The Unit," don't get me wrong, but the reason people like Bauer so much is because he suffers. He's always in pain. Yet, despite the odds, he still tries to do the right thing. Surnow and Loceff are two of the main writers who've given Jack this, and I'm sure they could bang out a badass R-rated film. I'm excited to see what they come up with. -
Anyone hear about this? Cher claims he had an affair with her when he was younger. Look, Rickey understands that mocking Tom Cruise isn't exactly cutting edge humor, so he won't bother. But Rickey will say this: Cruise is seriously fucked in the head.
-
Tom and Mel should team up for "Sugartits: The Movie"
-
24 had writers?
I hope I hope I hope Cruise's sidekick is Chloe. Then we can have 2 whiny bitches that for someone reason people still pay attention to. At least Ms. Rajskub is *acting* like a whiny bitch. -
"The Last Warrior was great."
-
Cause gay men everywhere could give a rats ass about Cher.
-
I mean other then War of the Worlds- what was the last film he did that was watchable?!?!?!
Seriously when have you seen him in a movie and NOT thought oh here is tom cruise as ________ I havent watched one of his movies WITHOUT saying to myself oh its TOM CRUISE. -

Why no more Naval officer uniforms for the Scientology people?
by darth macchio
Those were sweet! Freakin admiral bars on the shoulder!! GO GO Captain Xenu!!! Hoo Ahh!!!Fun aside...I've also heard he's a really kewl guy...stopped to help a young girl getting crushed by crowd and paparazzi and literally pulled her out of the crowd himself. Also, during a shoot for some movie (dunno which) he went to a local convenience store and on the spot dropped $5000 in a jar the owner had set up for charity for a local girl who needed an operation or something. I really don't care if he's queer or those religious gasbag's prophet. Keep participating in good cinema and I'll watch and enjoy. Thanks! (oh yeah, MI2 sucked and MI3 was not completely bad...it had Maggie Q...nuff said).
-
This movie will make about 2 bucks.
-
Despite what PR stunts he will try and pull between now and the release of his next film (now delayed for further PR reasons!), the public has had enough of this nutcase. Military saluting a head of a cult (an insult to those that ARE in the services and fighting) on stage in front of an audience does nothing for his wacko creditability. That and the fact that he's a known domineering control freak, has Katie Holmes and child on a very short leash, he's frankly not wanted by the masses. The only people that will be tuning in is the stupid and dumb that accept this wacko and the cash grabbing cult as something that should be gotten away with - in other words, the stupid still still follow the even more stupid.
-
Mission Impossible 4. Just you wait and see....
-
yeah, he's a bit bat shit crazy, but as an actor he's pretty damm good. he's been in some really good films, some classics. he's become pretty bland of late if you know what i mean. he's like teh phil collins of the movie world. collins did some great tunes man, but its not as if he's on my ipod all day long. howveer if you'd hear him on the radio you'd hmm along. its exactly the same with tom. im happy to hum along as long as he's not jumping on couches or praising the power of xenu

i'd like him to do a role completely different to what im used t
by mr_x
like a fucking mass murdering psychopath. seriously. tom needs rebooting. enough of these painting my numbers movies, do something fucking completely different

Epiphany = priceless.

There are Tom Cruise apologists here now. On the same token, couldn't you all find someone better to support? No one said anything about his past movie career. So I don't know why that was brought up. Don't take it personal that he's insane now. I choose to boycott a man who blackmails viacom into taking shows off the air. It's my own personal preference.
-
Mission Impossible IV: Xenu Attacks!!!
-
I think that Cruise's career has crashed and burned: the phoney marriage (another defense against tabloids "outting" him), the pathetic Oprah performance (another reinforcement of the failed "I'm not gay" stategy), the zip boxoffice of LIONS/LAMBS, et al. His latest, VALKYRIE, has been indefinitey bumped (lots of retakes are necessary, not to mention a dubbed German accent for Cruise), et al. He'll try to amend his dumber-than-dumb demeanor by making himself accessible to talk shows. Won't work. He should ahve come out of the closet a long time ago--at least he would have earned respect.
-
tom cruise is a clowny actor who tries to steal scenes with his primpy lil faces he makes and poses.Maybe he came close in Collateral, but Ive never seen him totally transform into a character and do something different.. like deniro, al pacino, depp, christian bale , mickey rourke and many others . Hes constanly only playing himself..which is a mistake to me because his personality is not a likable one in the least....im sure it has to do with why hes never won an oscar
-
..screw the oscars anyway..ill admit alot of the movies his been in were good stories,I just dont like watching him.
