It Looks Like Mitch Hurwitz’s Fox Cartoon Is Going To Series!!

Published at:  Apr 27, 2008 10:40:27 PM CDT

I am – Hercules!!

“Simpsons” writer-producers Bill Oakley and Josh Weinstein have joined the staff of Mitch Hurwitz’ animated “Sit Down, Shut Up.” Because "Arrested Development" mastermind Hurwitz wrote the pilot, the move suggests the project will be announced as a series at Fox’s “upfront” in a little more than two weeks.

Variety’s story on the matter indicates that Oakley and Weinstein will serve as the series’ showrunners. Their other credits include “Mission Hill” and “The Mullets.”

For those unaware, Variety describes the plot:

"Sit Down, Shut Up" is based on a live-action sitcom from Australia. The animated U.S. version revolves around the lives of seven staff members at a dysfunctional high school in a small northeastern fishing town. Action centers on faculty members, as their egos and personal agendas trump the students' needs.

No, Sit Down Shut Up was the title...

    by paul t. ryan

It aired around 2001 on Ten and starred Stephen Curry. It was godawful (like 99.9% of Australian sitcoms) and was cancelled after 9 of 13 eps had aired.

This animated version HAS to be better.

If it's animated it WILL have a chance. People are getting tired of FOX's stale animated lineup. Something new will do well.

    Didn't this already

    by series7

Fail as a sitcom a couple times know. In Teachers/Miss Guided that failed? I guess putting it in cartoon will work? Also Australlian shows are usually not that great. I guess we've gotten bored of re-doing British shows, with the failure of the IT Crowd to get picked up. I wonder when HBO is going to get Little Britain on the air? I love that show.

    by inwosuxred

I hope this is good, but it is on FOX which I haven't really watched since AD died. I also just don't get excited by cartoon sit-coms anymore. Just way too many of them.
