word life baby
-
Yes?
-
So close.
-
4th!
-
So far I've liked his movies, so I'll probably take a look.
-
It's more like Office Space, and NOT like Idiocracy. That movie didn't even deserve a straight-to-video release!
-
Idiocracy wasn't funny.
-
Idiocracy might not be the best example of Mike Judge’s quality of work.
It was a great concept and I was looking forward to seeing it, but the excecution was terrible.
The casting just didnt work and I think the satire was pushed too hard to the point where it didnt work.
-
But it gets huge points for being the only film released yet with the balls to point out just how stupid America is becoming. Criticize the flaws in its delivery all you want, but the message is dead-on.
-
IRON MAN
-
I really don't think that Idiocracy is the only movie to point out how stupid Americans are becoming..
-
Bateman's role in Dodgeball isn't exactly what he's most known for.Jason Bateman was in Starsky and Hutch and The Kingdom.
-
not perfect, by any means, and not nearly as good as "office space." but i loved the part where the president is reading off the teleprompter. "shit. i know shit's bad right now, with all that starvin' bullshit and shit."
-
tons of 80's stuff...Knight Rider, Silver Spoons, It's your Move, etc etc etc.
-
i read an interview with bateman a few years ago in which he apologized for that movie, as if it's bad or something. fuck, it's probably the most entertaining piece of work he's ever done, and i say that as a huge "arrested development" fan.
-
Me and about three other people. Two of them are their moms.
-
Oh, other movies show it to a small extent, but that's the point. Idiocracy shows the staggering extent of our growing stupidity in its horrifying severity. Things aren't just getting kind of stupid, they're getting really. really. fucking. stupid. I can honestly see a future where tribal graphics are plastered everywhere, where a film that is little more than a naked ass farting for ninety minutes is widely acclaimed and a blockbuster hit, and anyone who reads, speaks in anything other than mono-syllabic colloquialisms, or god forbid, uses logic, is instantly derided as a "fag." Idiocracy, just like Office Space, will become more popular and pertinent with time.
-
I must be one of the few who liked Idiocracy. Even have the poster hanging in my movie room next to my anamation show and plympton posters. what is it that people didn't like? worth it for making every gatoraid ad in to a joke.
-
they never know what to do with smaller cult movies. AND thanks to fox for the 13th year of king of the hill.
-
I'd love to see the original cut. Unfortunately, the studio and test audiences found it a little too close to home, and they softened it a lot.
Still, it was an underrated flick, and the extent to which the studio went to bury it on the DVD shelf was interesting. -
Your new "Animation Show" sucked balls last night. Most disappointed night of my year. For the love of God get rid of all those wiseassed goddamned Internet cartoons and bring back Don Hertzfeldt. Used to be my favorite festival.
-
"and anyone who reads, speaks in anything other than mono-syllabic colloquialisms, or god forbid, uses logic, is instantly derided as a "fag." "
what do you mean "see a future" where that happens? I was just shouted down TODAY in a popular online forum for it. The article under discussion was asking why there was no cure for hangovers, and I suggested that there is no cure because it's damage to you body, not a virus, and that the only sure-fire way to avoid vomiting and having a raging headache the next day is to drink in moderation.
Sure enough, I was immediately hit with a bunch of responses from guys calling me "a lil bitch" or "a square" to some telling me I was full of myself and should stop thinking so much.
I didn't even say "don't drink" -- I said to drink in moderation, and if you don't, then you deserve the ill effects of essentially overdosing on a toxic substance.
People don't want to discuss things like that, though. They whine about having a hangover, and when someone suggests they could avoid it next time by not getting slobberingly, staggeringly, toilet-worshipingly drunk, they accuse the truth-teller of being a "lil bitch."
So yeah-- We're there, pal. We have been for a long time. I've learned that if I'm the one speaking intelligently in any given crowd of people, there will be at least a few guys who say "fag" or accuse me of "thinking too much" or "talking too good."
My whole life has felt like I was in the world of Idiocracy. -

Idiocracy is neccessary, every film should be idiocracy.
by guy who got a headache and accidentally
Long live mother fucking idiocracy.
-
You know where they are. I'm intelligent, but AICN doesn't actually have a "preview" or "edit" ability, so... well.. there you go.
-
Love his work! He should get all the love that Apatow gets these days!
-
...because we see that shit every fucking day. It's fucking depressing.
-
No way, Judge's last good project was way back in 1997. But maybe this new one gets him back on track. -
Fuck you! I'm eating!
-
...when he was the voice of the "Goofy Ball" in one episode of News Radio.
-
Whatever. Either way, he first needs to fix that "Animation Show" train wreck he's created. Next year maybe don't throw out all the talent and then expect us to shell out movie theater prices for friggin Flash and Youtube reruns.
-
...is judge.. I mean, just fine with me.
-
Needs an update
-
it negatively portrays your wwe/nascar culture...
bastards... -
The satire was great but the actual story that they tried to frame it around was pretty bad, especially the demolition derby climax with the crops. Of course, I suppose thats what happens your film get unceremoniously shelved and you dont plan on anyone seeing it.
-
dear oh dear.
-
if you actually thought idiocracy was "smart", or even remotely funny. Seriously, if you needed 84 minutes devoted to the single premise that our society is getting dumber as a whole, you're one of the idiots that this movie warns against. It MIGHT have been funny as a short film, but the movie drones on and on and on and on and on and on, kind of like King of the Hill (HOW THE HELL IS THAT STILL ON THE AIR!?!?!?!?!?) I didn't laugh once. Judge was a one hit wonder with office space, 2 if you count bevis and butthead, which i'm ambivalent about. I blame him for taking up valuable (HA!) fox airtime when brilliance like Arrested Development was canceled.
-
In other words I loved Idiocracy.
-
That was the best thing about Dodgeball.

Make happen, yes?
-
I'm not usually one to AICN shit, but was this really a spoiler?
-
that has the Enter key where my old ' key used to be!
-
actually make a good Teen Wolf?
-
remember that short lived show? I loved the Grateful dead ep where they have the skeletons in from the video. I hope Bateman the best. I wish that series would go to DVD.
-
FOX's treatment of Idicoracy was completely ridiculous. Also, I'm really happy that AD gave Jason Bateman a good career. He deserves it, and is ALWAYS incredibly enjoyable to watch act. I'm happy for him.
-
Make Miramax get down on its knees and fondle your balls, Mr. Judge
-
What online forum was it? It sounds a little like the soapbox/sandbox on imdb; by far one of the most wretched hives of scum and villainy to disgrace the world of man. A good place to start looking if you think the human race still has redeeming features left, and that Idiocracy isn't right around the bend.
-
FUCK you I'm eating. This sounds like Office Space 2: The Whers My Stapler Edition. Whatever hopefully this'll get some screen time, even though I am not sure if Judge movies would be better on the big screen. I've only been to Austin once and I noticed that big ass escelator scene, was that the whatever the place is called that has SXSW? If so how come Harry couldn't get some random ass cameo?
-
The scene in Idiocracy where non-suicidal Wilson is getting his Tatoo. Side note, if I didn't know better I would say that Red Belt is a bad DTV action movie based on those horrible banner ads.
-
his premise that america is getting dumber. The stuff about the naked ass is spot on. A lot of people hated ange lee's Hulk. 254 million is nothing to sniff at so universal is giving those that didnt like ang lees hulk exactly what they wanted. a big dumb hulk movie. with no story and a lot of effects.
-
idiocracy needed a much better ending. It kind of fizzled out in the end. In fact I don't even remember the end. And someone needs to give Terry Crews, Grizz and Dot Com there own show. That or get Terry Crews a spot on 30 Rock (maybe Tracy's Dad?). Those guys prove that you don't need to be Eddie Murphy/Chris Rock/Richard Pyror to be funny. Nor do you need to be Bernie Mac/Steve Harvey/Cedric to be popular and unfunny. I wonder how much of Grizz and Dot Com being funny is just them or is the Feymisters writing? Either way Terry Crews is funny as hell. He was on Conan a while back and was the best guest I had seen in a while.
-
Are you saying Brokback Hulk was good? I mean I know what you are saying. How America needs it bigger and louder. But I just feel that the Hulk is a bad example. Because A the first one was loud and dumb, it just sucked. Plus this is a the Hulk we are talking about. A better example will probably be the upcoming Birds Re-make, which may or may not suck. But a movie about a big green monster pretty much has to be big and dumb to some extent. Plus this is the Incredible hulk, not just an ordinary Hulk like the first one.
-
And especially not everything.

what the hell "Jason bateman was in didgeball and Juno"...
by rocklobster800
the guy was in ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT! Like, the best comedy show in the past decade! He deserves recognition....this "was in dodgeball and juno" makes it sound as if he's just popped up in the odd thing as a cameo...the Bateman deserves more respect! Plus if him and Mike Judge are in....Im in. Office Space is great, havent seen idiocracy, Kingf The Hill has yet to falter and although Beavis and Butthead has aged horribly (or maybe Ive aged horribly) I loved it at the time. Just like I did Arrested Development, before philistines didnt watch/get it and it was yanked off the airwaves....

Brawndo: The Thirst Multilator is now a REAL product!

A murderous yuppie moves into a laid-back Texas suburb. Hilarity ensues as Patrick Bateman starts running around, killing denizens with a propane torch and propane accessories... Isn't it gold, Jerry, ya tells me!
-
Shut up, gaywad.
-
watched it again the other day....no not a great movie..but funny and sadly even prophetic!
-
and why it is farting! lol idiocracy really had its moments.
-
Underrated? More like outright overlooked. It is a horror film people. Not a comedy.
-
damn Fox (or, whatever studio it was) for stiffing it and not giving it a proper release!
-
be the new teenwolf? thought i read that somewhere.
back to the future reake in 2015, who ants to bet? and its the 80s no the 50s yo,
and idiocracy was hilarious tart to finish. time will tell. -
The films of adam Sandler and Micheal Bay. I am mystified by the success of Sandler's movies. But he does dumb and loud comedy. American Audiences love dumb and loud movies. Tony scott and bay also do loud and dumb. people here dont like dumb and loud movies, that at least is my preception or maybe it is the directors who make them. As for ang lee's hulk. 254 million or whatever worldwide is nothing to sniff at. if Ang lee had brought The hulk back to its TV roots like louis leterrier has done. would there have been a problem, I dont know.
-
FOX is fucking worthless
-
Yeah his movies make all their money in America. But as far as the Scott brothers go, they are from the other side of the pond. And their movies do just as good if not better some times with the rest of the world as they do in America. And Bay movies (minus Bad Boys The Return) always do better outside of America.
-
From the manager's position... now that Judge has seen his work from both sides, maybe he's more sympathetic to the guy on top. Maybe.
-
...we should hang out.
-
That you're fucked up. You talk like a fag, and your shit's all retarded.
-
just got back from catching the new show at the drafthouse. 100 times better than last year. No dragged out pretentious crap like last year. Congrats to Judge!
-
just like what they did to Idiocracy and Office Space, and we will have to give it life in DVD form once again.
