Capone Tells You If You're Going To See To The IRON MAN Screening In Chicago!!
Hey everyone. Capone in Chicago here.
I've spent the week reading through literally hundreds of submissions to join me to see the Chicago premiere of IRON MAN. I don't want to oversell my selection process, but this may be the single greatest crowd every assembled in Chicago for any event...since the Great Chicago Fire. (Now THAT was an excited audience!)
Anyway, if your name is on the list below, come on down to the AMC River East 21 (322 East Illinois Street in Chicago) on Monday, April 28. Showtime is 7:30, and although the event is not overbooked, you need to show up and check in (BRING A PHOTO ID!) no later than 7:15 or you'll lose your seat(s) to one of our lovely stand-by folks.
As for the stand-by line: I'll figure out a random and fair way to get as many of you in as possible, but there are absolutely no guarantees that any of you will get in. And getting there early won't necessarily help you get in first. Still, if you're feeling lucky, come on down and take your chances. We'd love to try and squeeze you in!
And the lucky people who get to be the first in Chicago to see IRON MAN are:

A new talk back. God I am fucking losing it.
-
Ah well.
-
So my diatribe about how I have loved Iron Man for years wasn't enough, Capone? Really?
That's too bad. I was really looking forward to joining you and other AICNers there. I guess I'm just not worthy, even after being a long time reader, for the last 10 years now (and getting COUNTLESS others addicted to AICN).
This is the first time I was excited about an event and the first time I sent anything in FOR an event.
But OK then. Your call, I guess. -
NOT!! Enjoy the Cattle Call girls
-
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
-
I wish you would have picked me. My grandfather is buried in the same cemetary as Al Capone. Dang! It! Cool! Nooze!
-
Your not the only one who missed out mate! Relax
-
Jokes and jokes and jokes of the worst kind.
-
It's a great place to see a movie. The stadium style seating is a plus.
-
You're not my mother!
-
Next time I'll put less effort into it, you lazy cocksmoker.
-
I KNEW he couldn't resist the promise of oral sex combined with the promise not to post the video of it on the internet! Oops! gotta go, BSG stream starting!
-
You're off my Christmas card list, Capone!! Just kidding, man. Hope you all have a good screening. Guess we'll have to wait for the midnight showing. Have fun, everyone who made it in!
-
You dont have to wait until midnight. It's starting at 8pm Thursday night at theaters across the country.
-
Just to give those of you who didn't get selected some idea of your odds: I received nearly 500 entries for this contest (some wanted to bring a guest, but most were selfish and only wanted to get themselves in). It goes without saying that is the most I've ever had to deal with. I read every entry, but let's face it: the fact that somebody told me they were a long-time fan of the Iron Man comic books wasn't really enough on its own to get into this thing. Some of the entries were essay length; some were two sentences. Some emphasized their love of the comics, superhero movies in general, Robert Downey Jr., etc. There was no check list of traits I was looking for in the winners. I just picked the ones that stood out. I've got plenty more already on tap for Chicago this summer, which you'll hear about soon; plus I'm negotiating a couple other screenings based on talent I know is coming to town on their various press tours. We're just getting started.
-
Q101.com has a Chicago screening on Tuesday. Guess I have to wait one more day to not pay for Iron Man. No tears... but lots of single dudes on that list.
-
Thanks man.
Let Harry have his silly little rocket pack man, we're gonna rock River East 21. -
Mine may have been too long, and perhaps not enough kissing up. Maybe next time.
-
Man, even my screen name is a Marvel character, made of metal! This sucks...
-
You do treat us well in Chicago, Cappy. Any chance you are going to do a post on the Q&A from the Promotion?
-
sorry, in my excitement I missed the P last time.
-
Really rats. I thought I was a shoe in. Oh well.
-
(Cause that last one didn't work at all.) Al Capone supplied barrels of beer for my great grandparents' wedding. I'm told they were pals.
-
I hope the recent violence in Chicago has subsided enough that you can have a fun night without getting shot at.
-
For everyone that didn't get in - party latenight at Beaumont's. I'll be the one on the stage actually getting some.
-
I wonder how many of you who did not win are now thinking "fake I.D." This is Chicago after all...
-
Understood, Capone. I'm disappointed, but I'll get over it.
Have fun to those who made it. -
The shootings are on the other end of town a good 50+ blocks away, the theater is in the tourist-district next to all the hotels. It's a boring neighborhood, and that nice theater is the only thing worth seeing for several blocks in any direction. I didn't get in anyway. Meh!
-
Gang violence happens in every major city, but usually in very specific areas. I don't think anyone's in any danger. And, oh yeah, I'm there!!

Good to see the Prokopy (Capone) relatives make the list...

I made the list and I absolutely can't wait. An ENORMOUS thank you to Capone for setting this up in Chicago and allowing me to be a part of it.
See some of you fine folks on Monday! -
You're upset that he's bringing his wife or that he's capable of getting one?
-
at THE PROMOTION was pretty fun, there was a mentally retarded old man in the front who kept yelling shit and ended up trading baseball caps with Seann William Scott since Scott said he was a Cubs fan, and the guy said "I'LL TRADE YA" for his black cap that he had on. It was pretty funny. Got a picture and talked with Seann after, he's a pretty great dude, was very nice to me and my father. Good film, too.
-
Chicago...is rediculously huge. The skyscrapers, the city, up north wrigley field, pretty much everything you would think of when you think about Chicago almost NEVER has these shootings. The places you are refering to are part of "south side" chicago. South side is notorious for gang violence and such. From the theater we are at...it would literally take 20 to 30 minutes to drive where these shootings took place. The theater is not a bad area at all. It's a couple blocks from Michigan avenue for god's sake. Michagan avenue, aka one of the riches shopping strips in the country; where the celebs go.
-
Sounds like a typical bastard
-
Those are clearly ASCII capitals, but they don't form a word. If it's an ID code then surely a barcode would be better?
-
i told you i have a superhero collection on dvd, which means i actually own catwoman and elektra!! i fucking looked a clerk direct in the face and paid money for Catwoman! if that doesnt make me deserve to see iron man, i can only imagine what the rest of you people wrote.
-
That's probably EXACTLY why Capone left you off the list.
You paid for Catwoman??
Seriously? -
i know.. horrible, i have no excuse, but i wanted my collection to be complete. At least i got it a resale shop for $5
-
I found my copy in the trash.
-
Paying money for Catwoman only gives studios a reason to continue making crap like that. For that reason alone, you should never be allowed to see another superhero movie again.
-
I just remembered that!
-
y'all are harsh. i guess i didnt deserve to go.
-
2 Thousand were the first to see the movie @ Cinemex Polanco. I was there and it rocked!!! If you liked the trailer you are gonna love the movie. Hey Jon Favreau! and Robert Downey!. Just two words: THANK YOU!
-
I'm coming in from out of town (from the west, I-90). Can someone tell me easiest way to get there, do they have parking, etc?
-
nothing beats me.
-
It's just a couple blocks from Navy Pier. There's a parking garage you have to pay for but I think they validate a little bit if you're there for less than four hours. It's possible you'd find some street parking but you'll save yourself a headache by just paying for a lot. Lot's of places to eat nearby.
-
So I was looking into the theater to plan my trip into the city, and everything I see tells me street parking is next to impossible, and the lots nearby are $13 to $16, and that's WITH validation! (don't lose your stubs, boys! without it is like $20+) So while I'm grateful to be going to this screening, holy hell the costs are adding up!
-
I Have a few on sale on ebay if you're in the area, item # 170214377125
-
After all my planning, my "+1" flaked out, so then I offered it to Talkbackers. But then after all that soliciting, it doesn't matter, as I won't be able to even make it there myself in time tonight. DAMNIT! so if anyone in chicago wanted to go, there's at least 2 standby tickets that will be available!
-
Why didn't I read your post before I left work? Now I'm home and the movie starts in 20 minutes. ARRRRGHHHH! Oh well. I hope all there are having a great time [he says grumbling frustratedly under his breath].
-
It was awesome. Thanks Capone. BTW - $32.00 to park because I got there early enough that I missed the 4 hour window for validation. Ouch. Still worth it.
-
though I found it funny that they didn't ask for the email or my id, just my name. So anyone seeing the list of names posted here could have just given one of the names and got in.
