...did anybody see the Venture Brothers S3 preview on Adult Swim a couple weeks ago? It was unfinished, but it showed the first half of an episode where Dr. Venture is giving a military representative a tour of the base, and he's having Orpheus and all of them play out parts as various workers and such. Absolutely hilarious.

as I TOTALLY would have freaked out seing that GI Joe parody for the first time on TV. But I digress, Jackson and Doc have failed to disappoint judging by the snippets shown at the con. It's a goddamn shame that Cartoon Network--even with their wisdsom to green light two seasons--cannot give this show a halfway decent time slot. It SHOULD be on Sundays right after Family Guy instead of wee hours of the morning or during the shitty anime block on Saturday.

The OSI stuff was absolutely amazing. I watched it three times. Have never really watched Venture Bros., but will definitely watch this season.

We kinda spazzed out at Dragoncon two years ago when Doc and Jackson premiered an episode from Season 2. I think you just get caught up in the moment when a bunch of nerds are in a room together.

Really. They know exactly what they're doing, and don't seem to be in any danger of "jumping the shark" or running out of steam. The only "mediocre" episode is "Guess Who's Coming to State Dinner" which still has its moments, but at least the creators acknowledge that it's not a good episode.

The Venture Brothers is one of those shows that I am at the store on DVD release day to throw my money at them. I'm delighted it's survived this long and I hope it keeps on keepin' on. After Futurama this is my favorite animated show ever.

I too have wondered how long it would take the producers of the "V Bro's" to loose their way, but (as it has been said) they have not let us down yet. The shows irreverent look at the parody of mid 60's & 70's Saturday morning tv is deceptively silly, as it deftly satirizes everything from pop cultures edgy perspective on gender issues to the "liberal" history of conservative foreign policy...their are so many times that they could have gone for the obvious cliche and they didn't.

certainly currently my favorite animated series. Great clip, great jokes, the nozzle, the Joe/Cobra parody, funny stuff. y'know what else. Looks funny, but they seem to be going way overboard on the sexual humor this season. I liked it better when they didn't appeal to the lowest common denominator for laughs. Still the OSI peace is one of the funniest things I've seen in a long time.

It is, and you don't understand. that doesn't make it NOT funny. it just means you don't get it. maybe it's not your sense of humor. maybe you lack context. Here is my theory, which is mine, and belongs to me: the humor largely derives from the anticipation that something untoward is about to happen to poor little Billy Quizboy, who is a character fans of the show know well and who casual observers who just came in on this clip wouldn't get or appreciate or care about or empathize or hate and hope to see something bad happen to. Out of context, is Redd Foxx clutching his chest and saying he's having a heart attack funny? Does some greaser named Fonzie giving a thumbs-up and saying "aaay" earn a chuckle of appreciation from someone who's never seen the character before? this wasn't being played for people who have never seen and dont care about the show, it was for fans. some of the laughs were sheer "Yay, that character is back!" glee. and if you don't get that, or care, then that's up to you, but really, why bother posting about it in a talkback that's for fans of the show? Move along, move along...

Nice birthday present for me, new Venture Bros. I agree with omarthesnake on this one, if you have no context you aren't gonna get it. I've loaned these DVD's to many people and for most it's a bit of a slow burn, at first they're sort of 'meh' but by the second disk they acknowlege the genius. Also, it helps to have been raised on a diet of classic Scooby Doo and Johnny Quest and if you roll your eyes at JQ then just walk away from Team Venture because you'll never appreciate man of action Race Bannon gasping out with his dying breath: "Sampson...is that you? You look nice...", then releasing his squirty bowels. Or Col. Gentleman's Hollywood actresses that need a good slap. The whole show revolves around a series of sly winks to classic shows (get the GI Joe)and then systematically parodying them into oblivion. Don't knock what you don't get, you just show your ignorance. Besides, everyone knows why convention geeks are so over-the-top, it's the only time they get exposed to sunlight having dwelled in their basements the rest of the year.
