World Without Internet!! SOUTH PARK 12.6!!

Published at:  Apr 16, 2008 4:01:58 PM CDT

SPOILER ALERT !!

I am – Hercules!!

12.1 made Eric Cartman HIV positive.
12.2 made Britney Spears shoot her hair off.
12.3 took Kenny McCormick to HeavyMetalLand.
12.4 sent Terrance and Phillip on strike, Buddy!
12.5 saw Ms. Garrison reduced to hunting down her own singing wiener.

Comendy Central says of 12.6:

IT’S A WORLD WITHOUT THE INTERNET
ON AN ALL-NEW "SOUTH PARK" ON WEDNESDAY, APRIL 16 AT 10:00 P.M. ON COMEDY CENTRAL

NEW YORK, April 14, 2008 – The citizens of South Park wake up one morning and find the internet is gone, in an all-new episode of "South Park," entitled "Over Logging," premiering on Wednesday, April 16 at 10:00 p.m. (ET/PT) on COMEDY CENTRAL.

No one in South Park has internet access and there’s no telling when, or even if, it will come back. Desperation sets in as the fear of the unknown spreads rapidly across the country. When Randy hears there still may be some internet out in California, he packs up his family and heads west in search of a signal.

Is anybody keeping track of the number of times the characters have made their way west to California over the years?

10 p.m. Wednesday. Comedy Central

    by freakemovie

The promo that's running on Comedy Central makes it look a little like "The Monsters are Due on Maple Street", a classic Twilight Zone episode in which people in a small town turn against each other after losing contact with the outside world. That would be awesome (but of course it's probably going to be hilarious anyway).

It has been way too long since Shelly was the angry, bitter sister who beat on Stan. Her reappearance was great. What was even better is that they didn't need or even show Cartman and yet put up quite possibly the best episode this year. Cartman is great in doses, but Kyle & Stan's families are almost as insane in a more traditional manner. More please!!!

    by deandome

To me, this ep. evoked the classic SNL skit w/Will Ferrell & David Allen Grier about the morning news show team that goes all Neandertal/Lord of the Flies when their teleprompter goes down. Will ends up killing DAG, hoisting his severed head & screams "I killed the weatherman...his strength is in me!"...then gnaws on his severed hand. Classic.

    by _maltheus_

Once of the best in years (arguably). Given where we're heading economically and how dependent we are on our toys, I especially appreciated the Great Depression homage. I don't think most people consider how addicted to the internet they are and South Park is best when it gets a serious message across in a non-preachy way (the overt preachy eps suck though). And of course, the climax of the episode had me laughing harder than I have in a long time. Brazilian fart porn was good too.

    by yamato

If you ask me, I think the politics (the never ending politics) of Parker and Stone have a very strong right wing undercurrent to them.
I think if you take a look at what they attack these days all happen to be some what "leftish".
    I don't see Blackwater, Haliburton,
illigal phone taps, torture or the Bush gov't in general ever being targeted.

Before I get flamed by neo-cons, I did not say they should not attack the left. I just mean, I find that it is the left that seems to be always the target of these guys these days.

It's not that they put their political views into play during the episodes, it's that they just make fun of the stuff no one else is making fun of. Everyone makes fun of Bush, so why would they want to? If you really seriously haven't had your fill of jabs at W, then go watch that stupid-ass "Lil' Bush".

Plus have you seen right-wing comedy? Holy fucking shit. Fox News had a "Daily Show" esque show that aired for like three episodes and it was the most retarded thing ever broadcast ANYWHERE.

Matt & Trey help maintain the balance by NOT making fun of what everyone else is. Excellent episode BTW.

Funny thing about that is that the boys covered this a while ago. The Satire message would likely be were more wired in then we are personal with people anymore and also the environment. Its simple to really effect change with the planet as simple as a 9 year old unplugging something and plugging it back in but everybody has there head up there asses to do something about it? Plus americans as a whole are pretty dumb. Media Whores to the Max. Also riff of satire of the american economy as awhole where there isnt very little growth and people thinks things will be better elsewhere and when they get there but the government will give you a little help et al this Bush give all americans 100.00 or something thats what i took from the 40 seconds of internet. An uneven season.

    by sithtastic

Eek A Penis and Canada on Strike are a little weak, save for their respective catch lines ("He's not your buddy, guy!" among my friends usually starts that dialogue chain everytime.) For me Major Boobage and A World Without Internet have been the best thus far. As for the satire, I would say Trey Parker and Matt Stone are libertarian at their core, but then there are the glaring exceptions like curing AIDs with money alone get my gears turning. Ultimately, I think they'r disgusted with the Left's faux self-righteousness as practiced by Hollywood and like to not-so-gently rake respective offenders over the coals. Overall, good stuff, thus far.

I was a little hopeful with improvements over the last three episodes. But I just watch this one and it ranks up there with Wing, Jackoffasours and the rest of the bad eps. I'm not even sure what the point of the eposide was or what point they were trying to make. I tried hard to suspend my disbelieve at the total non sense way they tried to protray the internet as working. But I couldn't even get a chuckle out of this ep. Here's hoping they come up with a classic before the end of this run.

    Razorback

    by hst666

Neocons are not liberal Republicans. There is nothing liberal about neo-cons. To be liberal means to realize that we are al in this together and to understand that it is in our best interest and especially our economic interest to realize this fact. Neo-cons just have some ideology and a complete lack of regard for facts or pragmatism. Also, a seemingly complete lack of compassion for anyone but themselves.

    Yes, neo-cons are liberals

    by _maltheus_

Neo-cons ARE liberals. That is why Bush has outspent LBJ in domestic spending. That's why he's engaged in nation building. That's why he gets "creative" with the constitution. And it's hardly a surprise when you consider that the founder of the neo-con movement, Irving Kristol, was a Trotskyite and proud member of the Fourth International. Here's a direct quote from the founder, "Ever since I can remember, I've been a neo-something: a neo-Marxist, a neo-Trotskyist, a neo-liberal, a neo-conservative; in religion a neo-orthodox even while I was a neo-Trotskyist and a neo-Marxist. I'm going to end up a neo-that's all, neo dash nothing."
For a counter example of a traditional, conservative Republican, see Ron Paul. But to call the neo-cons conservative is kind of missing the point. They wouldn't be 'neo' if they were. They'd just use the conservative label as is. And to make sure we're all clear on our definitions, conservatives are for small government, liberals are for big government. Every other definition is bullshit. And under the neo-cons, the government has never been bigger.

    Neo Cons vs Libs.

    by codefool

Libs = Tax & Spend. Mindset: You are too stupid and incompetent to take care of your self, so we will steal from those who can and give to you the bear minimum to survive while we make you dependent on us. All of your money & kids are blong to us.

Neo cons = Borrow & Spend & blow stuff up along the way. Create vasole states. Unlimited corportatism everyone's a customer anyway. Who cares if your job goes over seas, someone will still buy our crap.

How did they get away with Randy....

Covered in his own spooge. "It was a ghost!!!" One thing's for sure, these guys know how movie genres work. Aside from Grapes of Wrath & Close Encounters the other jokes were parodies of style. In the first few mintues I caught tones similar to Dawn of the Dead and War of the Worlds and when they got to the internet itself it almost seemed like a Stargate/Independence Day reference. Why can't those idiotic spoof movies figure out that this is how its done?
