Danny DeVito's stalking Kristen Bell! Who can blame him, really....

Published at:  Apr 14, 2008 2:54:55 AM CDT

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. Disney's got a project being toplined by Kristen Bell called WHEN IN ROME. Mark Steven Johnson (DAREDEVIL) is directing and it's one of those high concept pieces... but one that actually sounds kinda funny to me. Bell is a New Yorker traveling abroad who takes coins from a famous fountain in Rome only to find herself pursued by their owners, each one trying to convince her he's the man for her.

Danny DeVito will play one of these guys, joining a cast that includes Will Arnett (yay!), Josh Duhamel, Dax Shepard, Jon Heder and Anjelica Huston. Could be cute. Could be too cute. We'll see. At any rate, it's good to see Bell getting to lead a project that isn't a shitty remake of an Asian horror movie. Thoughts?

about Kristen Bell. Many dirty, unspeakable and shameful thoughts in fact.

    That is all.

    Hey

Lay off Daredevil. Ghost Rider aside (fun, but inconsequential), there's nothing wrong with DD whatsoever. Not Miller standard admittedly, but it's a good adaptation of the comic-book.

    Kristen Bell

I hope she doesn't read this site, because the *heavy breathing* style posting is creeping me out, and I don't even know her.

    Oh Danny Boy

    by tomhooligan

I just watched "Throw Momma from the Train" last night and was in stitches. Danny's been great from "Cuckoo's Nest" To "L.A. Confidential".

I wanna see Danny DeVito playing more serious roles...

    by cpt kirks 2pay

... instead of eating them too much on film sets. Seriously, I know I haven't seen Hoffa or other serious complete works, but little glimpses of this side that I have seen of him, convince me that this guy could be a bloody persuasive straight performer. Who's with me on this? Heh, I saw Bruno Kirby scream his head off in total heartbreak and anger in a heavy scene in Sleepers, I don't put it past Danny to do something straight too. I still think Kristen Bell is a whore though.

    But...

    by tomhooligan

Daredevil was a massive missed oppertunity for a new franchise. The film was like a road accident. I actualy enjoyed the special features on the DVD more than the film itself. I haven't seen Ghost Rider because of Nicholas Cage's hair. I did have the misfortune to watch the remake of "the Wicker Man" the other day and it got me worried about what Cage has become. I used to think the guy was amazing, but he's become a B-movie actor at best. The last good film he made was "Lord of War". He needs a new Barber too (i'd say Sweeney Todd to put him out of his "i-only-make-shite-films" anguish).

    Is Johnson writing too?

    by derlanghaarige

Because he has lots of potential as director, but not as writer and I would like to see him directing someone elses script.

Watch VM S1/S2, and you'll have your seriously awesome role for Bell. Think Terry O'Quinn in Lost 1x04/1x19 quality, but every single week for two years.

    Daredevil Film

    by chilli815

If you hate the film, fine. But that's a damn faithful adaptation of the source material. So I don't really twig how a fan of the comic-book can hate it, even remotely.

Mark Steven Johnson is the US equivalent

    by matdgz

of Paul WS Anderson - a guy who should be directing detergent commercials and nothing more. Ever.

    Daredevil was shit

    by calvincoolidge

but it wasn't the plot that was the problem (which was all classic Miller) it was the actors. Garner and Bennifer (Seriously, the man without fear?) were laughably atrocious versions of the characters. That playground scene still makes me cringe.

Bell in "Phantom of the Paradise"

    by anna valerious

It's been confirmed on AMC's MonsterFest site that DePalma is indeed writing the remake of the film. And I think she would make the perfect Phoenix. Just put her in something from Baby, the Stars Shine Bright and let her sing.
