I am – Hercules!!

“Survivor,” the highest-rated show still broadcasting in standard definition, is making the leap to HD when its 17th season starts shooting this summer.

No word yet on when CBS' less-popular “Amazing Race” might make a similar advance, but this story by The Hollywood Reporter’s James Hibberd sees the “Survivor” move as an encouraging sign for those craving a look at “Race’s” exotic locales in high definition.

the camera work on surivor and race are both good

Certainly makes more sense to have those shows in HD than it does to have 30 minute sitcoms in HD.

    Fuck HD

    by gruntybear

I'm incredibly sick of turning on my tivo at night to have the blue screen come up explaining how a standard def channel got dropped for some new-fangled HD thingee. Fuck HD. Fuck it up its stupid ass. I don't need every show looking hyperpixelated and overbright. Every demo model of HD I've ever seen looks "craggy" as hell. No way in hell I'm paying for that shit.

I understand your frustration for losing channels at home, but the demo units in stores for HD look fantastic! How can you say they look hyperpixellated and craggy? I don't get an HD signal at home yet, mostly because I don't feel like paying $75 for cable every month, but I LOVE watching movies in HD. They look amazing.

That you actually have HDTV. In the UK we have a bare minimum of channels that broadcast in HD and it costs an absolute fortune to subscribe to them. Moan, moan, moan that's all we do over here.

    by big jim

the likes of Parvati and Amanda, in their wet bikinis in HD. But remember, you will also get Courtney the Stick, Denise the Lunchlady, and Naked Richard Hatch, all in glorious HD. Will it be worth it?

    My Problem with HD is...

    by freekill

...the premium they are currently charging. In Canada, all of the major cable/satellite providers offer a nice selection of HD channels but most of them come with a premium cost for the channels and a premium cost for the HD receiver.

For example, to get access to the HD channels on Rogers, you have to pay 45 bucks or so for standard TV an additional 10 or so for the HD channels and another 10 or so on top of existing receiver charges for the HD receiver.

    Cost of HD

    by jonsnow

How much does a hd tv cost and how much does a years worth of cable or satellite hd cost. I'd be shocked if in this economic downturn that the average joe is going to be watching hd survivor.

According to Jim in HD would be awe- wait for it....SOME. Image the subtile, multilayered comedic genius of Jim Belushi in 1080i and possibly some day 1080p. I don't think the world deserves such a treat.
