Looks Like J.J. Abrams’ FRINGE Going To Series On Fox!! LOST Vet Hired As Showrunner!!
I am – Hercules!!
Fox has hired veteran “Alias” and “Lost” writer-producer Jeff Pinkner as showrunner of J.J. Abrams’ new sci-fi project “Fringe,” a move that suggests “Fringe” will almost certainly be announced as a series when Fox unveils its 2008-09 schedule next month.
The project is about a hot FBI girl (Anna Torv) who teams with an unbalanced scientist (John Noble) and the scientist’s caretaker son (Joshua Jackson) to investigate a growing wave of paranormal phenomena.

I hope we get more than 5 episodes before Fox cancels it.
-
before deciding wether to see if it has a direction and is worth watching or if it gets cancelled I wont bother at all.
-
Seriously, how is this NOT the closest thing we've ever had to an X-Files ripoff since the show went off the air?
-
Remember that show "The Inside"? I just thought of that for some reason.
-
Instead of sticking it on a shit night like Firefly.
-
... airing before Fox cancells it. But then, I'm in an optimistic mood today.
-
Not sure why...
-
the link leads to this big sci-fi sale where the buffy seasons are 29-34 bucks each and the complete series is $169. Where's the $19 and $99 versions he mentions?
-
when he signed those contracts. Otherwise I'll wait for a few eps before buying in. (Don't worry, I'll make lots of noise like I watch every show and buy all the sponsors products...)
-
I mean, give us some eye candy for crying out loud.
-
Calling here a "hot" FBI agent might be a bit of overmarketing spin. Maybe cute FBI agent, but that might be stretching it. Maybe I just seen bad pictures of her, but I get no funny sensation down there when I look at her pictures.

They better make the demons damn ugly or Joshua Jackson will be hitting on them instead of Anna. -
Hes a prick. Cocky. I cant tell if hes over acting or just not acting at all. Met him a couple times being an extra for the Creek down at Willmington NC. Hes just...shit? And now he has a movie with the hot Aussie from Transformers and gets a great gig with Abrams. This is a bad day. I thought his career had already been triple deaked. Fudge.

Sure she wasn't cast as the smart, but unattractive best friend. -
Most talkbackers would kill to have a girlfriend that attractive. The standards here are warped.
-
Real world and TV world are two different things. She may be real world attractive, but she is TV so-so.
-
lets be honest- lost was never planned this way..they just keeping make shit up and up and up and up
-
x-files meets supernatural? eh, I trust JJ. He hasn't failed me yet
-
the chick the heavenly sword PS3 game.....kind of interesting I guess.
-
I'm looking forward to seeing what they've come up with.
-
double j it seems can do no wrong. but remember if its on fox and if no one watches the previews it'll be canned before the first ad break.
If it makes it to season 3 I might give it a shot. Fool me once and all that jazz -
gotham_night, I want that show greenlit immediately!
-
sounds like Alias meets X-files. Fail!
-
a new genre show on Fox. Should we start the save our show internet campaign now?
-
the sale ended.
-
And having seen Joshua Jackson in CRUEL INTENTIONS, I'd say it has a head start on the competition.
Seriously, Abrams - this is a fucking X-FILES ripoff in all but name. Do you or your backers have no fucking shame whatsoever? -
No, I wouldn't. Though Captain Jack Harkness might. And doubtless Joshua Jackson's character will. Eww.
-
Gonna need lots of bayer.

I believe that the Island travels in time. I think this is why 'the bad guys' want it. I think the numbers are Jacob's 'safety person' just like Desmond was for that new scientist guy. That's why they are everywhere. No matter what time the island appears in, they make sure the numbers are somewhere so he can maintain. That is also why he is there and yet not there. I think he has been on the island for so long that his 'temporalness' is a bit sketchy and only the numbers keep him focused in one time. I think that's how the Black Rock got onto the island--it just appeared right under it. I think the Darma Project was probably trying to control or steer the island. Just an idea though. any thoughts?

Nothing Abrams does gets canceled, even when it really really really deserves it (cough - Alias after the first two seasons - cough). And is he actually involved, or is he just getting credit for other people's work... again. Barely involved in Lost if at all, didn't direct or write Cloverfield (which still wasn't great, but it was good). When was the last time this guys was creatively involved in anything, and why does he continue to get credit for stuff he doesn't do? Sorry, just really feel like he's overrated. And this sounds like unimaginative tripe. Hopefully it's better than its pitch.
-
yeah, i see he's changed it now. But it was still there when I posted, and for a good half a day or more after it apparently ended. grrrr...
-
before the first episode is even over. That's surely next. Just fill in the last twenty minutes with a Family Guy rerun. How is this not X-Files 2? Has anyone alerted Chris Carter's lawyers?

....again with the weird hot-FBI-chick-cop-Hollywood-fantasy...
by bill brasky
Or, simply put, most of the female Federal Agents that I have had the mild misfortune to work with look more like Rosie O'Donell or Ellen then they do Anna Torv or Gillian Andersen. Sorry.
-
he continually has his name attached regardless of actual day to day involvement because its his production company, Bad Robot. its no different than all those shows with Bruckheimer's name attached, i doubt hes much involved in any.
-
Yeah, I get that, but I don't understand why people overlook the writers and directors, who are actually creating the final product, and focus on Abrams. Think I'd be a little pissed if he got credit for my work just because he has a big name. I feel the same way about Bruckheimer, so that works out.
-
Honestly, does anyone still think a new sci-fi show on Fox even has a chance at making more than 13 episodes before being canceled? If Sarah Conner survives, it'll only be because its tied to such a strong franchise. I think think the show is pretty good, but even excellent sci-fi shows on Fox have been canceled quickly.
-
recast the FBI chick with Kristin Bell and have Rob Thomas as the new show runner. And they'll call anything but Veronica Mars
-
xfiles in space
they go to different planets and investigate weird stuff
no shemp(doggett) though
