Reactions To Oliver Stone's George W. Bush Script From Bush Biographers...
Merrick here...
Hollywood Reporter has an interesting 3 page piece about Oliver Stone's forthcoming DubYa biography. They sent the film's script out to a bunch of Bush biographers for reactions...which were mixed.
President George W. Bush is a foul-mouthed, reformed drunk obsessed with baseball, Saddam Hussein and a conflicted relationship with his dad. Or at least that's how he's portrayed in the script for Oliver Stone's upcoming feature "W."
[[[EDIT]]]
"It leaves you with the impression that the White House is run as a fraternity house with no reverence for hierarchy, the office itself or for the implications of policy," said Robert Draper, author of "Dead Certain: The Presidency of George Bush."
...says the article, which you can find HERE.
Josh Brolin will play George W. Bush.
This is an interesting read...check it out.

No-one watches political stuff, haven't they seen the box office lately?
-
I'm ashamed of myself...
-
...Come on. I know Moriarty or Harry must have this script. Give us a review!
-
remember when Oliver Stone directed great films?
Yeah, me neither. -
I would rather have a Clinton movie. With cigar sex scene.
-
I like crazy people.
-
Not because it won't be good... it's just that the American public wants to forget George W. Bush ever existed.
-
That's how they should pitch it. And the trailer should have Todd Rundgren's "Bang The Drum All Day" playing.
-
With Joker paint.
-
It'll damned good. That movie surprised me as I thought Stone would just do a total hatchet job, he actually finished the movie with me kinda liking RN and definately feeling sorry for him.
-
I mean the Farrelly's from 10 years ago.
-
DEPORT OLIVER STONE. Ever see "Key Largo"?
-
fuck bush
-
...about as much as I hate Batman Begins. What a total piece of of shit these two are.
-
That's funny because his script seems to give the same impression his presidency has.
-
Casually heard off TV. So um...who's gonna watch this movie again?
-
Wow, a movie where someone gets ripped up drunk, fail classes in college, and joins a fraternity. I think I saw a much funnier and better version of this movie already called Animal House. Oliver Stone needs to give it up. I agree with GibsonUSA, Clinton would be a hell of a lot better. We can all relate to those late night in bars picking up the fat chicks.
-
He's counting on all those who hate Bush to turn out in droves. He's forgetting that in order to make a successful movie, you need to make a GOOD movie.
-
It's got the formula:
1. Starts out with teen/twenties and his friends.
2. Frat parties, getting wasted.
3. Then people getting pwned. -
Where no matter how much Oliver Stone exaggerates or sensationalizes his subject, he still can't come close to the disaster that is George W. Bush. He is, without a doubt, the most incompetent and yet arrogantly dictatorial presidents we have ever elected, and his administration more corrupt than any other, even Grant's. Stone is just going to put out an appetizer, the historians will be taking meat off W's bones for years and decades to come. I just hope Bush lives a long long long time, so he can see how truly despised his presidency is. But hey, if hasn't "gotten" it in almost eight years, he probably never will. He is a hollow shell of a man.
-
And most of the american movie-going public will treat it as the literal truth. Sad.
-
who really wants to see this movie?
-
It's STONE that's become the joke, not Bush. Sure. And I love this: "most people don't like the job the prez is doing". That gets my vote for understatement of the year. I just love how all the fools who voted for this idiot are still trying to equivocate on how bad he is and switching the blame elsewhere. If they say something like "Well, yeah he's been terrible, but..." - you know they voted for this chimp...TWICE. Now they know to have any credibility in any political discussion whatsoever, they need to admit that basic reality first - then they attack and blame the Libs. It's fucking hilarious.
-
I'm not at all keen on politics as others, but going into the Fall of 04 everyone was telling me there was no way Bush would get re-elected. His approval was way too low and everyone hated his guts. Well...look what happened. How did it happen? Which is why I dont really believe poll numbers too much. If a third term were allowed, whats to say he wouldnt get re-elected again?
-
President Bush's favorability rating sits at about 35-38%. This is remarkably higher than one would think considering the tireless onslaught of ridicule and hatred he receives from pundits from the left. Sources: htt p://www.pollingreport .com /BushFav. htm (remove the spaces)Ironically, the favorability rating of Bush is much higher than Congress from whom all three Presidential candidates now sit. Congress' favorability rating has sunk drastically over the past year and a half to an all time low of 19-22%. (Source: htt p://www. polling report. com/ CongJob. htm ) Hmmm...maybe good ol' conspiracy theory activist Oliver Stone (who doesn't even hold a college degree -- he dropped out after a single year) might want to make a movie about the new Democratic-controlled Congress?
-
after reading that article, it will be hilarious to see it. Seeing a drunk Bush almost crash a plane; him calling Rumsfeld a turdblossom; getting in a fist fight with his father. It'll be a great stoner movie.
-
All the necons came first to the talkback. I think killing and crippling thousands of young Americans for no real reason is a little more dramatic than Clinton's cigar sex scene. Sorry guys. Clinton's reign of peace and prosperity may be "controversial", but your guy is the fucking SS Titanic of presidents.

That sounds about right. I can only hope this irritates the piss out of Bush/Cheney.

AS CROMWELL SAYS "THAT'LL DO, THAT'LL DO" I'm sold. I don't what it is about this movie that has me so facsinated? I could really give fuck all about politics but I am all about any spoliers or photos that come from this movie?? I guess I've finally gotten sick of Blockbuster movie hype that I am turing my attention to dramas. Like I can't wait for the first pic of Brolin as W. and then have (insert movie company) come and take it down. Or to see the hand held in a secert screening of the trailer on youtube.
-
LOL! Bush has the lowest second-term ratings than any president other than Nixon! Way to spin those numbers, you right-wing freak. The reason the congress is so low-rated is because they haven't put this fucker in jail or ended this pathetic war. Nice try, buddy.
-
We need for Stone to make a film about an articulate but extremely inexperienced man who thirsts for political power! This story would have everything! It would cover Obama's childhood, his drug years, his "poor years" at Harvard, his years making millions working as a lawyer, his controversial years on the payroll of Tony "the Syrian" Rezko, his supposed "opposition to the war in Iraq" (which supposedly came before he was even in Congress), his almost failed run for the Illinois Senate (just three and a half years ago) where he only won because the young Republican candidate and his wife were "swingers", his immediate campaign for the office of President and Commander-in-Chief and his cat fight with Hillary and Bill Clinton. Hopefully, Stone's film would have the hilarious ending in which this pompous self-promoter lost the election to Senator John McCain by 10% of the popular vote and over 35 electoral college votes!
-
And that's a compliment. He should be tried for war crimes for what he, Rumsfeld, Cheney and Bremer did to Iraq. Murdering, greedy bastards.
-
...to claim that Bush is "at about 35-38%" is a bit of a stretch. That's ONE poll out of dozens that are regularly taken. Check out http://www.realclearpolitics. com/polls/archive/?poll_id=19 and you'll see that on average his approval rating is a lot closer to 30% than it is to 40%. Even Faux News' most recent poll had it at 30%. Doesn't matter though; we're stuck with him for another 9 months or so, then McCain for 4 after that. The Dems are just that incompetent.
-
Did you even graduate from high school, or do you spew this sort of DNC talking points out of your very limited intellect? You sound like Al Franken (or worse, Michael Moore)! This Congress is rated so low because they are the worst Congress in the history of this nation. Nice try, my extremely liberal hippie friend. But I imagine that you will have quite a bit of crazy liberal support in these message boards. At least some of us are willing to endure the EXTREME HATE of the far left radicals who frequent these boards simply because we believe and speak the truth. Bush isn't my favorite guy (by a long shot), but he is better than that wildly inexperienced and unqualified NObama. But some libtards would rather have that than the preservation of this nation in a time of conflict.

Listen, Stoney will do anything you want, just give me some munny! C'mon people, O-Stone need CASH NOW BITCH!

He is. It's about Bush. Pay attention.
-
Bush isn't articulate. At least not to those of us who speak English.
-
...sits at an average of 22%. Yet far-left libtards will "spin" this figure to their advantage. *sigh* Keep sucking Obama and Pelosi's cocks, mindless haters. It seems that this is the extent of your educationally limited minds.
-
Impeach this monster! Try him for war crimes!
-
For a 3rd Term? I'd probably vote for him, but I vote against the democrats all the time--so I'll be voting for Democrat-lite McCain, even though I'm not excited about voting for him. Still, I was excited about voting for him in 2004, lukewarm about voting for him in 2000, and alternately like and dislike his policies--he ain't no Reagan. Still, Stone's depiction sounds like it's going to be mostly fictional, so he should go balls out. Make Bush a serial killer, hunting down interns and picking 'em off, one by one.Frankly, even if Stone was likely to do an accurate or objective portrayal, I might say: that's nice. And not go to the movie. They way he is almost sure to do it, and it certainly sounds like he's going to do it? Stupid, typical, predictable: and I'm not going to see it. And when it comes to seeing movies, I'm the decider.
-
God this feels good!
-
Remember that he made pretty fair and even-handed film about Richard Nixon. NIXON!!!
-
politics and AICN dont go to good together.
-
Bush or Bay?
-
Neither understand foreign or domestic policy. They only understand empty and hateful (at least, toward the right) sound bites -- which have become the cocaine for the uneducated masses. Go ahead and try to elect a candidate on the basis of the empty "fluff" rhetoric that he cums in your face. Ignore the fact that there is an alternative who spent over 23 years in the military (with over 5 as a prisoner of war) and over 25 years in Congress. McCain is the ONLY INTELLIGENT CHOICE for 2008! McCain/Condi in 2008!
-
If Stone portrays GWB truthfully, then it will be anti-Bush anyway.
-
Would have to put spin on it to make the douchebag look halfway decent
-
Remember that approval ratings are culled from surveys of people with land-line phones who are at home during the day on weekdays. IE, old people. So 30% of old people approve of Bush. The rest of us don't have our heads shoved up our asses.
-
That was a terrible movie. Paul Greengrass really showed Stone up with United 93.
-
he went and joined the military and fought in Vietnam. I don't like Stone overall, but I respect that about him. No doubt his experiences in Vietnam gave him a lot of insight and wisdom, the kind which he would not find in a college institution. You can't say the same thing about G.W. since he decided to skip out on the war, Cheney too.
-
The snivelling pussy who was handed his ass in the presidential election by Bush and described as a loony who went mad in a prison camp, and then spent the following years with his nose up Bush's ass. How can you respect someone like that?
-
When W's approval drops down to like 25% people say that's so low.Sweet Jeebus, that means that one person in four thinks he's done a fine job. Out of every four people you know, one thinks that overthhrowing foreign governments and crushing the skulls of their leaders sons is a fine and dandy thing for the United States of America to stand for.It means if you and three other people were asked "Hey, wanna kill 4000 American soldiers for no apparent reason?" one of you would say "Yeah okay, let's do that."Put it his way, 25% approval means if you and your girlfriend go out to dinner with her best friend and her boyfriend, one of you is a fucking idiot.when a quarter of the population is perfectly happy to shoulder the moral responsibility for the actions of the worst president in US history, how is that supposed to be a "low" number? Especially when their big defense is either to slip into a meditation trance repeating the 9/11 mantra or to point and yell "Yeah, well at least he didn't get his cock sucked!"I'll take a president who wants to get his cock sucked (or her pussy eaten) in the oval office over one who regards the US Army as expendable pawns any day.
-
Deport Oliver Stone to where, you fucking idiot? He was born here.
-
Tough call...but at the end of the day only one of them made Pearl Harbor.
-
Get this imposter out of Congress! This gross voterfucker wants to shoot his inexperience up the asses of the American people! We can't afford to allow someone as inexperienced and unqualified to become the President on the basis of his empty rhetoric. Obama's response: "I will not allow you to shut out the voice of the American people!" The only people who suck that shit are the mindless liberals and uneducated masses who can't see the forest because of all of the trees. A man who will sit through over 20 years of his activist pastor's ridiculously idiotic unAmerican comments is NOT QUALIFIED to become Commander-in-Chief of this nation.
-

Anyone who thinks this is all fiction and way over the top...
by sledge hammer
Should watch the doco Bush's War, done by PBS as a Frontline special. Pretty damning stuff, as retold from people who were actually there and directly involved. In fact I think you can even watch it online at PBS's site...And people voted for this man as president not once, but twice...
-
Whats worse? Obama sitting in front of a loud minister making controvercial statements? or The President sending 4000 American kids to their death? Hurry Quick!
-
Might be retarded
-
A few thoughts on McCain. He was in the military 23 years, including 5 as a POW. So that makes only 18 years in the service, and five sitting on his ass in a moneky cage. Also, the man can't lift his hands over his head, which means if he's elected and his motorcade comes by, and you wave at him. HE WILL NOT WAVE BACK. Is that the kid of rudeness we need in office? I ask you, sir! As for lack of experience, what experience did W have? Oh, right, he was the Governer of Texas, which means he sat at a desk rubber-stamping legislation.
-
Repressed homosexual, psychopathic, right-wingers... JFK had it right.
-
So your telling me over 8000 American troops died over the 8 years of Clintons terms?
-
...is a sinister man who wanted to bring this nation into a meaningless war? Read "BUSH AT WAR" (by Pulitzer Prize winning and Watergate exposing journalist Bob Woodward), you goddamned mindless retards! Woodward is critical of figures like Donald Rumsfeld -- but credits the Bush Administration for acting on behalf of the intelligence offered to him by the military and the Pentagon. Woodward destroys the myth (so often repeated by liberals) that Bush is "slow-witted or unintelligent." Woodward reminds us that most of his advisors graduated at Ivy League Policy educational institutions. Bush himself graduated from two liberal institutions -- Harvard and Yale. While he was an average undergrad (with a GPA higher than John Kerry's during the same time), Bush went on to earn an MBA from Harvard Business School with high honors. But liberals want us to think that Bush is an "unintelligent, diabolical maniac out to destroy the free world." I don't know what is scarier -- the liberals oft-repeated fictional assessement or the fact that so many libtards are STUPID ENOUGH to believe such bullshit?!?
-
It is the number of years that Obama served in the military, and the number of years he served in Congress before deciding to run for President.
-
Thats because when you and your girlfriend go out to dinner with her best friend and her boyfriend, that the best friend's boyfriend turns out to be an uneducated god-fearing guy from the Bible Belt.
-
Were not even talking about the tropps that were maimed, disfigured, limbs amputated,or the fact they have to have their families BUY them sufficient gear to stay protected. Or how 'bout the horrible conditions of the VA hospitals when they get back, the mental and emotional issues most are also facing, not to mention the fact most will not have jobs IF they get back home.
-
3-2-1.....

Politics in this country are just so polarized as to be completely pointless. Thank you ever so much talk radio and your endless spewing of biased, fear-mongering hatred. Why participate in what has become just another cartoon WCW "smackdown" between sloganeering droogies on both sides? Brainwashed morons like ccchhhrrriiisssm are pretty much the norm for all these so-called "discussions." When can we get past the bullshit posturing and the partisan soundbites to actually fix the problems? When can we free ourselves from the absolute bug-fuck insanity of religion? When will we throw off the corporate yoke and start worrying about real people and real problems? When will rationality and reason prevail?
-
...11,343 military personel died while serving our nation overseas. Does this mean that Clinton was "sending our boys to their deaths?" Try again, uneduated libtards. But be encouraged: Your HATE has made you powerful.
-
I do not believe "unintelligent, diabolical maniac out to destroy the free world". Calling him a diablical maniac is giving that fuckin retard way to much credit. I do agree that he is unintelligent!
-
It's like arguing with the retarded, you can't possibly win, and all it ends up doing is making you look as stupid as they are.
-
"I truly believe man and the fish can co-exist peacefully."
-
That troop comment is a fucking lie and you know it. You can't even keep a straight face. What "troops" are we talking about? Foreign troops? Or are we just having a little make believe time? Want your dolls?

thus cementing the inevitability that I will again hear some douchey student say 'no blood for oil' and punch him/her.

I am "brainwashed?" *sigh* Thank you for enlightening me, O' uneducated one! You have shown me the light of the strange truths uttered by the far left's oft repeated talking points, and made me want to flush my 8 years of meaningless education. Jezzzus Christ, dipshit! You will HATE anyone who doesn't agree with your own uninformed opinions about religion and politics and criticize conservatives for sharing theirs -- all the while you would allow the far left to continue shouting theirs? Good job. You are a similar reason to why Hitler was so strong in German politics!
-
It doesn't even pay to debate ccchhhrisssm because his posts say it so much better than we can.
-
For this TalkBack to descend to the depths. When it comes down to it, this movie is being made for the foreign box office, who personifies the "evil" of America in the character of Dubya and, unlike the domestic audience, will turn out in droves to see the "true" story of Frat Boy Dubya . . . and have all their prejudices against Americans confirmed. I think it's the international box office that makes this movie worth doing from a business standpoint, because I think the domestic box office will suck. The domestic gross for Nixon was $13.6 million, against a budget of $44 million. In other words, it flopped. This movie is going to tank domestically (no matter what the haters say, in the end it will not satisfy anybody), and will depend on strong foreign box office in order to avoid being a complete disaster.
-
...I am standing on a roof of a mall watching mindless zombies walk around aimlessly as they spout their mindless hatefilled opinions to one another. Damn! Please liberal people -- for the sake of America -- form an educated opinion! *sigh* I suppose that your intolerance toward anyone who disagrees with you will continue....and continue...and continue...long after McCain gets elected President.
-
Can't you just hear the desperation in everything they do and say? The almost inaudible sobs in their words as they try any and every deflection they can think of to find something, ANYTHING to be proud about after voting for the dullard that currently heads their party. "I'll take him over that inexperienced Obama! Blah Blah Blah." "Hillary's a socialist! Blah Blah Blah." "Democrats won't make this nation secure! Blah Blah Blah." Listen, conservatives, and just accept it: Bush was a bad president. He was unqualified for the office and your cowardly party nominated him anyways because McCain was just a little too liberal, and you were all too used to keeping your boots on the necks of liberals after your sweeping congressional victories. The result? The most corrupt congress followed by the most corrupt president in history. Good work. Down deep inside, I know the truth hurts, but here it is: you want Clinton back. The economy was stronger, the nation was safer, and other nations actually took us seriously.

It's a religion, and the religion has to have it's devil, and the devil will always be the top guy, the most visible guy, or the most visible (and most effective) conservatives (re: infidels) and until they can legalize the televised executions of conservatives for heresy, they'll have to be satisfied with hatchet job "news" stories, "thoughtful, insightful" movies, and clusterfucked "statistics" that prove their antedeluvian, creationist theories (that is, in the beginning, Obama said: let their be healthcare, and there was healthcare, and Obama saw that it was good).
-
hate to break it to you but the last thing Americans want to see in the White House is another Republican. Especially one that should be sitting on his lawn enjoying his retirement.
-
I saw him eat a mouse once, and he ate that fucker whole, just like on V. And what comes after V? That's right! Fucking W! Be afraid. Be very afraid...
-
Chrism talking about other people being intolerant of different opinions. This is very fucking funny.
-
I can't help but agree. I disagree with many of Bush's policies, but he isn't the idiot everyone makes him out to be. He isn't this huge liar. He is very upfront about who he is, and what he intended to do in office. If you look at what he said, and what he did, they line up pretty well.
-
there's a damned good chance that McCain will beat either Obama or Clinton. I wouldn't be surprised.
-
Will one of you Bush backers please defend this guy logically, his War, his economy, his country that is going to shit. Someone please logically defend him. You cant!
-
Check out the Urban Legends reference page (Snopes.com); your figures are in error. That said, though, deaths during the Bush years are only slightly higher (1,300 more) than the Clinton years.
-
...What took you so long to catch up, Stone?
-
In which speech, does Bush say he wants to ruin America domestically, internationally, militarily and economically? I must have missed that speech. But if he did, you're right - he met all his goals.
-
...let me make a statement that will make liberals everywhere shit their pants with rage. Bubba Clinton's idea of "peace" caused 9/11! Billy Boy's attempt to avoid any military conflict with his ever-shrinking military budget and base closures caused militant terrorist groups like Al Quaeda to feel empowered. During the Clinton Administration, Al Quaeda was at least partially (or entirely) responsible for at least a dozen acts of terrorism against US targets -- including the first WTC bombing, the attack on the USS Cole (in which a friend of mine died), attacks on two separate US Embassies in Africa, attacks on US troops stationed in Saudi Arabia, and planned attacks on the West Coast during the Jan 1, 2000 festivities. Even 9/11 was largely planned during the Clinton Administration. Clinton's response: He sent a few missiles into empty camps in Afghanistan and into downtown Bagdad. How much did Clinton know about the threat from Al Quaeda? We will never know, because his National Security Advisor (Sandy Berger) pled guilty for stealing vital National Security documents from the National Archives in Washington D.C. (See htt p://www.nytimes. com/2005/04/01/ politics/01berger. html - remove spaces). Nearly forgotten is the 9/11 Commission's opinion that the lack of effort by the Clinton Administration to track down Osama bin Laden was at least partially responsible for the events of 9/11. Well, I owe I own so off to work I go... Have fun hating me, libfiends.
-
For the 416,800 military deaths (approximately) in World War II. Or what about the 116,708 military deaths for America during World War I? Defend Woodrow Wilson for that. Or defend JFK and LBJ for the 60,000 American military personel killed during Vietnam. Or what about the 54,229 killed during the Korean War? Shouldn't Truman be forced to answer for that?
-
Surely you must see that BOTH parties are religions at this point. You don't really believe that Republicans are just well-meaning folk that don't spew out plenty of Hate and Bile just like the Democrats, do you? Hatchet job "news" stories, "thoughtful, insightful" movies, and clusterfucked "statistics" are used as ammunition on BOTH sides, with equal vitrol. (Oh, and mentioning "creationist stories" is particularly ironic since your man Bush doesn't even believe in Evolution, which is only the basis of all modern biology.)
-
Active duty deaths during Clinton's first four years (1993 - 1996): 4302
Active duty deaths during Bush's first four years (2001 - 2004): 5187
The difference? 885 deaths over four years, or about 221 deaths a year. Of course, during Bush's first four years in office we liberated both Afghanistan and Iraq. What did we accomplish, in terms of military victories, during Clinton's first four years in office? -
Can you defend a vote for Obama (without using simplistic, ignorant talking bites)? The guy has 0 years experience in either the military or foreign/domestic policy. He runs for President simply upon his empty but eloquent speaking ability. Waiting...Well actually, poor folks like me have to go to work. I'll look for your response tonight after sorting through all of the mindless liberal "tolerant" hatred that I will receive.
-
He should never have been in office, but he NEEDED to be there to allow the fiasco of the last 7 years to happen. Just a puppet of his father and those Masonic fuckers that own them, who in turn answer to Israel, who in turn answer to...er, God.
-
Martin Luther King Jr. believed in both God and creationism. Do you hate him too?
-
In my opinion they're all a bunch of assholes. My point is proven though that this current sitting presidents actions throughout can NOT be defended.
-
There were another 3,198 active duty deaths under Clinton during the second four years of his term (1997 - 2000). That's about 800 active duty deaths per year. A significant enough number that, if the media hadn't been so busy focusing on Lewinskigate and marveling and Clinton's ability to lie, there would have been protests with folks chanting "Clinton lied, people died!"
-
All of this administrations actions have been morally and ethically corrupt
-
hahahahahahaha... "Victories".... "Liberated".... You're hilarious, man. Oh boy...I'm crying with laughter. No, I'm just crying. It WOULD be funny if it wasn't so fucking sad.
-
Was an ass too.
-
All good points. Policy-wise, however, I'd argue that conservatives (moreso than Republicans) are practically objective rationalists compared to the modern day Democratic left. But what was the whole Whitewater affair if not a puritanical witch hunt? I'm with you on the nonsense, brother.
-
I've really got to run to work (or I will be late), but I suggest that you read Pulitizer Prize winning, Washington Post editing and Watergate exposing journalist Bob Woodward's book "BUSH AT WAR." It gives the clear justification for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. It clearly shows that, contrary to the wild hate theories spewed by liberals, the Bush Administration acted in good conscience in Iraq. See ya later, friend.
-
Because come November, this country is going to be so fed up with Bush, that they might not want to have to look at or hear anything that has to do with Bush, and this movie couldn't portray him any worse than they already see him in their own minds.
-
Bush IS the ass.
-
You mean the republicans that use the platform of family values this and family values that, then get caught banging little boys, or trolling the bathrooms at airports. Give me a fucking break
-
But you can start to read, and think, and study, and reflect, and ponder--and then maybe your life won't be such a sad web of lies! There is hope. There truly is.
-
Got Fat Ass!
-
Besides, it's the closet lefties that are bangin' the little boys. Come on, you know that.
-
Have you noticed instead of defending this guys policies and actions, they tell you to go and read something. No one, not even his dick riders, can defend what has happened to this country.
-
Not sexual perversions or their personal life. Quite frankly, I didn't hold anything Clinton did in the Oval Office against him. Who doesn't like a nice BJ under the desk now and again? The raising taxes and the healthcare task force I wasn't a big fan of. But those certainly weren't impeachable offenses.
-
i gotta start working too. Transformers was the shit!!!!!!
-
I disagree with the Iraq war as policy. I've also disagreed with Bush's immigration policies, his signing of Campaign Finance Reform, the No Kids Left Behind act, and the Medicare prescription drug benefit boondoggle. There's lots of stuff Bush has done that is not remotely conservative, policy wise. Pre-emptive wars are not a traditionally conservative strategy. I'd defend the tax cuts, but the liberal objection to leaving more money in the private economy is so religious it's like trying to argue a fundamentalist Baptist preacher out of his belief in Jesus. Ain't going to happen.
-
I agree with that, wholeheartedly.
-
If you were intelligent enough, you would understand that a proper defense about Iraq policies could not be made on a TB page. Unfortunately, libtards who live off of the sound bites that they suck from the cocks of the DNC just can't understand that. But read the book, santi01. It provides a very good defense, and it will also shatter some myths often repeated by liberal zombies. Gotta run...laterz.
-
"You are a similar reason to why Hitler was so strong in German politics!" fills me with joy. It's like a alien kung-fu master joined the campus Republicans. I can only hope and pray that english is your first language.
P.S. You are issued 3 exclamation points when you are born, which you must use wisely. You are in very deep debt. -
and we are still arguing over religious beliefs. Seriously isn't that proof enough that there is no god damn answer? Still can't believe that people don't see that McCain is going to be our next president either.

i'm a fiscal conservative and i know Bush is a fucking moron.
by bmacsmith
what a sellout piece of shit.
-
Why do you need military experience to be president? You keep citing this as somehow hugely important, but I don't think it is. (And don't say commander in chief).
-
Wake up... the country is fucked up because of this fuck-tard of a prez... tell me at least one thing Bush as gotten right since he stole the election in 2000. One thing! There is a reason why historians are already saying that he will be one of the worst presidents in our country's history. Wake up. You are living in the matrix. Turn off Faux News and pick up a book by hundreds of authors documenting the monumental fuck ups of the past 8 years.
-
Yes, Transformers were the shit. I think that was a bipartisan belief. ;-) ccchhhrrriiisssm out!
-
Oliver Stone is a moronic hack, so Somehow this doesn't surprise me at all...seems like a match made in heaven...
-
How incredibly clever! ;-) Did you get this from CNN, MSNBC, Michael Moore, the Huffington Report or the DNC?
-
Pretty much a self-given label since the network is a joke. So many documented fuck ups.
-
Yes, I noticed that. Well there's a million books that outline the massive failures of the Bush presidency, I guess they're avoiding THAT kind of reading.
-
The whole world is just ridiculous. Seriously thinking about politics makes me wish I just lived in the fucking woods and a cabin and had nothing to do with the outside world. Just a bunch of douche bags with there own agendas not out to really help anything. Hopefully the democratic party will pull there heads out of there asses and just give the nomination to Gore. How I think finally has grown a big enough pair of balls where he would actaully do something as a president. Thats the problem with democrates, no balls. Well minus Hillary.
-
The only thing that would remotely qualify as 'news' on this story would be the headline:
"Oliver Stone film to use meticulously researched, historically accurate and unbiased script for 'W' biobgraphical film"
"Yeah, we thought we'd go the typical route, " said the famed director of such films as World Trade Center and JFK, ", but then I thought of posterity and my career. There has to be a point in which we, as directors, put our egos and bias aside and just tell the real story."
Honestly, the more I hear about this the more I'm reminded of that garbage Reagan 'biopic' that NBC tried to launch a few years back. You don't have to be the biggest 'W' fan in the world to appreciate a good story, but for the love of me I don't see the artistic, historical, political, or overall relevance of this project whatsoever... does ANYONE expect this to be anything but what we all know it'll become?
Man, the zealots are gonna miss W come next year...they think Obama or McCain will sell those funny calenders? Me thinks not...history forgive us.... -
But the only one spewing hatred here is you...I'm a liberal, and I would never think of disrespecting conservatives that I didn't know on a public forum...mostly because liberals and conservatives are equally patriots who desire a strong and prosperous nation: they just differ in the ways in which they think it can be best accomplished. Might interest you to know that your choice, John McCain, publicly called BOTH Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama "patriots" and said that as senators they deserved his respect. Unlike you, I'm not scared of terrorists no matter who leads our country for the next four years. The only real thing to fear is extremist thinking that equates disagreement with being wrong and that unthinkingly parrots sound bytes from today's infotainment media. So, just to point out where your extremist thinking is undeniably wrong, I am a liberal, and neither retarded nor a hippy, both claims you made above for all liberals. Since I am neither of those two, you are clearly wrong, and therefore why should anyone trust anything you have to say? From now on you might want to stick to statements that you can prove, and then have the balls to actually back up with your sources for your information.
-
Kettle, meet pot.
-
Or MSNBC? Oh, you mean Fox News. The one network that doesn't have the DNC write all of it's news for it.
-
Since America is dumb enough to still believe in religion. That lets just go back to the old days when people were killed for being weird. And if you were a shitty leader you have to kill your self, something like that. Either way America is infested with too many dumb people to maintain our position as world leader for much longer. I think say 100 years from now when everyone speaks Chinese, it will be taught how George W. Bush was the start of Americas fall.
-
And up is down and down is up.
-
Is that all Democrats can muster?
And how is this "cool" news? Where's my daily Iron Man clip and Dark Knight ARG update? I'm not paying you to talk about politics!
Well, I'm not paying you at all, so, whatever... -
Fucking hormones!
-
"Oliver Stone film to use meticulously researched, historically accurate and unbiased script for 'W' biobgraphical film"
Form the comments at the top, this movie sounds like it will fit that description. -
...but this premise sounds slightly distorted with regards to the truth.
-
fuckin hell.
-
Ask the Kmer Rouge. We're still going after those bastards.
A boy can dream, right? -
I hate Oliver Stone. He sucks ass. And why a movie about dubya? Why not a stupid, piece of shit movie about JFK?
-
can't hold a torch to Jimma Carter - 17% approval rating, couldn't kick his ass out fast enough after fucking shit up for only 4 years
-
Interesting how in the U.S. the term 'Liberal' is so often used in a derogatory manner. Then again, so is 'Conservative'. It's not *that* much different up here in Canada, but at least our divide isn't driven by such hate. Apples & oranges, I know, I know. For what it's worth, the assumed disdain for Americans up here is pretty much non-existent, except to those who buy into the idea that U.S. media represents the average American. Obviously that idea is horse shit.
-
In WWII, we didn't care about killing women & children. Ask the old folk in Tokyo, Dresden, Hamburg, Hiroshima. We didn't have 24/7 media coverage. The soldiers didn't have to fill out paperwork every time they discharged their weapons.
Iraq is not a war. It is a sham. If we were really at war we would be out there killing every mother's son. We're seemingly just swatting at flies.
I wish we'd never gone there, but if we are there and serious about getting the job done...KILL KILL KILL! Then LEAVE LEAVE LEAVE! Enough of this "waiting for the Iraqi army to take over" bullshit.
And I'd rather have a lying, blow job snatching, budget balancing big mac addict than a holier-than-thou (insert your Bushisim here) idiot who bankrupts everything he has ever touched.
Fuck Raplph Nader, too. -
I've grown up in California, and I can say with much certainty that California Liberals are filled with much more hate than California Conservatives.
I've had debates with FRIENDS who would say that I am so "full of shit." Democrats HATE Republicans. Republicans respectfully disagree with Democrats.
I do not use "Liberal" as a derogatory word, but one that aptly describes someone's political stance on Government and Economics. -
Cant really defend any of them. This country is going to shit no matter who is in charge. Believe dat!
-
Then again Oliver Stone is know for the details, ha! Either way, who cares which equals fail!
-
And all you stupid asses that defend Bush should realize there is nothing Moral or Noble about Iraq. Fuckin sheep
-
Are you a "typical white person"?
Oh, I love how this stuff is just swept under the rug! -
...at least for another 10 or 15 years (personally I think a "fictionalized but based in truth" movie is unwarranted for Bush but that's me). I cannot see how it won't be biased...even with Nixon and all...coming from Stone. The man is nothing if not opinionated. He wasn't exactly truthful in the freakin 'Doors' movie for Fletch's sake! And while I might agree with Stone on his bias (not a Bush supporter)...it does no one any good to bullshit one way or the other. This period of our history is going to be marked like many other dramatic and huge changing periods of our history and we (Americans, that is) owe it to our Nation and those who've come before us and those who enabled us to be here...we owe them the simple honor of the truth...if it paints Bush and his administration as good or bad. The truth is all that matters. Also have to chime in...got "The Mist" on dvd yesterday and even fully knowing the ending....holy shit...I'm still dwelling on it heavily almost 24 hours later...an absolutely Amazing, powerful, and heartbreaking film...Darabount is a genius filmmaker. The Struzan tribute is kick ass too!
-
IMO The Mist was the most slept on movie of last year for sure. Great ending.
-
Osama Bin Laden and Al Queada conspired to have a suicide squad launch multiple attacks on the WTC, the Pentagon and the White House (the third attack was stopped by the plane's passengers), So we bombed the crap out of Afghanistan, then overthrew the government of Iraq and had their leader's son's skulls crushed. mission accomplished! Then terrorists mailed anthrax to various targets in the US and we... well, uh, found Hussein and posted his execution on YouTube and lenno got a few good jokes out of it. Mission accomplished!4000 US soldiers dead trying to shore up a government we knocked down in the first place? Sure. Mission Accomplished!Oh, and finding Bin Laden, finding our who mailed the anthrax and providing our soldiers with body armor? Mission... we're working on it.
-
Nicely said! Developing a movie, for ANY KIND OF PRESIDENT, shouldn't occur while he's STILL PRESIDENT. There's no way that it can't be anything other than biased.
Wait a couple years... Once Obama or McCain are out of office, THEN you can create a movie about Bush. -
Any takers? Not matter anyones view, bush is evil, blah, blah, blah. They all pretty much suck, and we are always stuck having to choose the best of the worst options. Either way, yes the movie should have waited.
-
She's gotten better than i thought she would. just a thought
-
Because neihther party wants to be the one to fail to fix the mess this country is in during the next 8 years. Watching this election is like watching giveaway checkers, both parties manueuvering to lose in order to avoid getting the blame for not being able to fix this mess.I will still go out and vote for the best woman for the job, but face, it, the country is so screwed.Let's go watch a Speed Racer movie and try not to think about the future.
-
She's a freakin' insect. She should be burned with a giant magnifying glass.

Free Republic is that way ----->
Go there. I'm really sick of your childish "libtards" cries and Obama teeth-gnashing.
It's clear you don't want any of us to join you or see your side of it, because you don't give respectful, compelling answers. You only throw insults and hate around, and make up silly names like a schoolyard brat.
Seriously, fuck right off to Freeper land, where they LOVE that juvenile shit. -
Whatever, the movie has to be made now! In 10 or 15 years, when China controls the world, they will not allow any movies to be made about other leaders. So its either now or never.
-
In which case, I'd give it to her hard and fast, then she'd eat me.
-
"Put it his way, 25% approval means if you and your girlfriend go out to dinner with her best friend and her boyfriend, one of you is a fucking idiot"
-
Thats all they can do. Then when someone asks for a justifiable defense for this administration, they tell you to either go read some stupid blog, or they say they cant answer that in a talkback. Intelligence at its finest!
-
I suppose we had to expect that Stone would decide merely to depict W as a sports-obsessed idiot who doesn't really care about what he's doing, but I honestly WISH that was W's gig. What's funny is that Stone is making the exact same error in dealing with W's personality that he made with Alexander's. Stone doesn't seem to have understood that the key to Alexander was that, faced with the task of living up to a larger-than-life father, Alexander latched on to the poetic examples of heroes as presented in Homer, and lived his life as an attempt to become one of those heroes. Everything Alexander ever did makes perfect sense once you realized that he was trying to act out a romantic literary fantasy in real life. I think the problem with W is that he too has taken mental and emotional refuge in quasi-literary "hero characters", but instead of Achilles, Bush thinks he's Lincoln or Truman, refusing to compromise or budge and sticking to his guns to the bitter end. The problem is that the picture he has of these past Presidents is extraordinarily simplistic and flawed, and is based on bootlicking biographers and their fantasies, and isn't grounded in the reality of how these earlier men actually led. The other problem is that sticking to your guns is an admirable thing when you're right [as Lincoln was] but it's the absolute worst thing to do when you're wrong. Bush thinks he's Lincoln, when he's really Custer. So the models Bush is trying to emulate to get over the fact that he always disappointed his dad are both factually wrong, and don't really supply any useful guidance to his current situation. Oh well, it's less than a year now so I guess we will live.

when Saddam bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no!"
Zombie John Belushi should for W! -
...that when Bush said "You are either with us or you are against us." he was speaking domestically as well. Look what he's done to this country...polarization and hate (thanks a lot Turdblossom)...hah! Some "uniter" he's become. It wasn't even this bad in the late sixties during Vietnam. I will not be seeing this movie since we are at the beginning of the "End of An Error!" Good riddance to Dubya and his administration.
-
to play the part of Satan in this yet?

"THEY WANT TO KILL YOU"
Are you really that tinfoil hat paranoid?
Oooh! I'm shaking. Teh terruhrists want to blow up America! We'd better hide in our houses, duct tape the doors, and clutch our guns until Bush can kill all them terruhrists and it will be safe again!
Grow a pair and stop relying on the military to protect you from miniscule threats. The chances of you being killed by a terrorist are slimmer than the chances of you being killed by lightning. What's Bush doing about lightning? Or car accidents? Or cancer? Or disgruntled laid off Americans? THEY are more of threat to you than any middle-eastern terrorist with a Jihad against this nation.
You look like a bunch of spineless pussies when you whine about how Bush is taking the fight to the terrorists who "WANT TO KILL YOU!!!!!!"
Give it a rest. AMERICA has killed more people in the past eight years than ANY terrorist organization. I think the world at large sees us as the bigger threat in the world, at the moment.
OMG! I said something to criticize my own country! That must make ME a terruhrist or a traitor or a "blame America first" liberal. SHUDDER! Whatever shall I do when the conservative masses decide they hate me even MORE than they already do just for disagreeing with them?
I think I'll go hide in my bunker and wait for the government to take care of the problem. Yeah. That'll work.
Now GET YOUR ASS TO FREE REPUBLIC, and take your stupid arguments with you. -
The film sounds like a train wreck but honestly, what kind of dopey comment is this: "...with no reverence for hierarchy, the office itself or for the implications of policy," No, there's no reverence for the office anymore. After 7 years of Bush, any1 who still have reverence for the office is probably the type who'd prefer living in North Korea, where there's lots and lots of reverence for their leader. Enjoy.
-
And Bush doesn't have a "polarize population" button in the Whitehouse. The individuals who decide to look at their ideological opponents with a black-and-white view, compare them to Nazis, etc., etc.--those are the polarizers. It's voluntary, and individual responsibility, and a completely bi-partisan effort (yay, bi-partisanship!).
-
And they have to have their "devil"? That's fucking retarded. There is no "faith" or suspension of disbelief to knowing Bush is a horrible president. It's been well-documented. Unfortunately no-one made up the fact that he's a moron - it's evident any time he speaks extemporaneously ... Really, I mean, a small industry has developed around the fact that he's an incurious, ex-alcoholic born-again Jesus freak. Anyone who says otherwise is the one going on baseless faith.
-
Don't give him any ideas.
-
make the snide, snarky, uber-sarcastic comments stop! So fucking annoying.
-
But it doesn't even begin to cover it. More people are killed, every year, by coconuts falling on their heads than by terrorist attacks. Slipping in their bath tub. Etc. It doesn't mean that terrorism should go unchallenged or unresponded to, as it should. But some perspective would be nice. I think more people are killed be terrorists than by shark attacks, however. So terrorists are technically more dangerous than sharks.
-
Without snide, snarky, uber-sarcastic comments then TB would cease to exist.
-
You sound like a Baptist preacher talking about Jesus and the resurrection. Exactly like 'em. Right down to the offended tone. Just saying.
-
Damn straight. As it should be.
-
good point, my bad. let 'em rip!
-
Too soon anyway, Wanna see an amzing true no agenda one way or another film, watch Thirteen Days. Could watch it once a month. Greenwood as JFK is awesome!!! That scene with Stevenson verbally fucking up the fat slavic barbarian Soviet ambassador was just a pleasure. Gorgeous film should have gotten a lot more accolades !!
-
Domestically. Compared to a $25 million dollar budget. Why? Because it's liberal? Because it's anti-American? No! Because it sounds boring! It sounds like, "Do I really want to spend 2 hours in a theater and $8 bucks or more to see this? Uh, no."
And that's going to be Oliver Stone's Dubya. Do I really want to spend time and money on this? Um, no. Thanks for playing, though. -
Just curious? Riker? Or Gates McFadden?
-
Why won't you just let poor Bruce Banner be? He's a man, not a piece of military hardware! Can't you see what you're doing to him?
-
Sure, some of ccchhhrrriiisssm's statements were a little vehement, but all I have ever heard from the Left was hatred.
If we as much as QUESTION Obama, you get up in arms. Yet, you can compare Bush to the Devil?
At least McCain ain't racist. -
Most of his movies over the last decade has been sloppy messes. I enjoyed Any Given Sunday for what it was, but the Natural Born Killer effects and jump cuts were nausiating at times. Alexander was a mess. World Trade Center was a movie of the week type of fair.
Now Stone wants to potentially have this thing done for the November election or at the very least by January 20, 2009. I can see a butcher job in the editing room. Forget the political aspect of it, Stone has had an ADD view to editing over the last decade or so. With even less time to edit, it is going to be all over the place. -
I'm on a lunch break right now. Quick comment: So you feel that it is alright for liberals to mock the President (in all honesty, this is unfair hatred and ridicule) and every other conservative or Republican? That is what happens in AICN talkback forums. Someone will say something stupid about a conservative, a conservative will respond, the mindless zombies known as liberals begin spewing their vile HATRED toward anything conservative. Conservatives will respond with a similar tone. Guys like you will call only the conservatives "childish." Congratualations! You are the latest example of liberal hypocrisy! Keep sucking away at the DNC's putrid cock. You suck on it the way a baby sucks on a mother's tit! The rest of us (with some semblance of an education) at least can distinguish between TRUTH and PURE HATE. McCain is the ONLY SAFE CHOICE in November! Obama is just a pretender. McCain/Rice in 2008!
-
Yeah that and Stop Loss was being targeted at teens. Wasn't it an MTV Films production?
-
The guy has lost whatever he had for his early films like Platoon, perhaps due to loss of brain cells due to drug use...but a Bush bashing film at the end of his term, can't think of a better way to boost the inexplicable unpopular President Bush because everyone knows how Stone treats the truth in his films...history will prove President Bush to be one of our greatest Presidents, and at the very least, he is one of the greatest leaders, and is a true leader, who doesn't make decisions based on a public opinion poll. Go to the archives, every expert, left or right, republican or democrat or libertarian, predicted that not soon after the 9/11 attacks we would have another attack soon on our soil, many predicting multiple attacks, envisioning suicide bombers at your local starbucks...hmmm, is didn't happen..also, our economy was suppsed to collapse...is it perfect now? No, but the attacks were supposed to devastate our economy...it didn't, yet somehow the media has convinced that President Bush has been a complete failure when he actually has been willing to make the tough decisions and actually be a leader. On a different subject, saw some cool Narnia tv spots, action in this film looks impressive:http://www.iklipz.com/MovieDetail.aspx?MovieID=ddcee004-e9e7-4f4b-9f7c-a480cbc57ac9
-
Bonheaded marketing move. But, I saw plenty of marketing for Stop-Loss, watched the trailer. In every case, it was like: why would I want to see this? If I were an MTV generation teen, then I would be seriously asking: would I rather watch this or play Halo 3 (or insert actual cool game that I'm too out of it to know)? Would this movie help me get laid? No? Pass.
-
...America WON the war in 2004, and we are simply trying to keep the peace? Regardless of whether or not you agreed with the war to begin with (although polls say that 73% of Americans supported it in 2003 -- meaning either some of you are lying or changed your mind), the fact remains that a premature pullout would be a disaster. But Obama is just too stupid to understand that, isn't he? His 0 years of military service and 3 years in Congress compare little to his 25 years of indoctrination under a racist, unpatriotic pastor. While our soldiers were fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan, Obama was making MILLIONS working for Tony "the Syrian" Rezko keeping thousands of African Americans in Rezko's Chicago slums. Nice job, Obama!
-
Someone made an argument about Bush's approval rating and 1 in 4 saying it's ok to kill 4000 Innocent Americans for no reason, that is where logic disappears from the argument, those that do support the war don't see it as being for no reason. I would like to see a person that feels it was for no reason to go up to a soldier getting off a plane and tell him he wasted whatever amount of time he was in country doing nothing, that his sacrifice is worth nothing because he was there for nothing. On the flip side is the fact that bush's approval ratings were in the 70% range when he first went into Iraq, doesn't that mean that nearly 3/4's of people felt that there was a compelling reason to go to Iraq then? So then will come the argument of the fleecing of America, but the 3/4's of people who now claim to hate Bush will say that they've always hated him, so how did he have such high approval numbers back then. It isn't foreign policy that destroyed his approval ratings, it is his handling of Katrina and the illegal immigration fiasco that have torpedoed him faster than anything else. In the article it says that it portrays Bush as being manipulated by his inner circle, so if it was his inner circle how can you blame him for what has happened, and if it was he that made the decisions unilaterally then why hate Cheney?
-
...or as Obama would say, "The voice of the American people!"
-
...or as Obama would say, "The voice of the American people!"
-
What else is there to say beyond that? If you want to know what a bad presidency is, get over yourselves and take a look through American history. There has been far worse.
Oh and there's no way in hell I'm going to see this movie. I don't care how "unbiased" he thinks it is. -
And I don't like it, but I do understand it . . . I think it reflects the tendency of many on the right to be reactionary. Re: Oh, yeah? I'm a Nazi? Well, you're a Stalinist! And a poopy-pants!That being said, I've had lots of great friendships with liberals who could avoid the typical "You're a Nazi, you're a neocon piece of shit" rhetoric that characterizes much of the left-wing's "deep thought". We agree to disagree, and that's that.Still, I was driven to question my personal, college-age liberalism by just such vitriole, intolerance, and hypocrisy by a bunch of lefties I went to school with, and I gotta thank them for it. I think partisan vitriole is, on the whole, fairly bi-partisan. Certainly seems to be in these TalkBacks.
-
Are you fucking kidding me? It is well documented that McCain openly refers to Asian people as "gooks", and openly admits that he hates them all and wants to kill them. Some people might say, "Well, he was in that prison camp," but you know what? Our fucking ALLIES in that war were Asian. If Obama himself [not his sideshow barker pastor] went around saying, "You know what? I hate crackers. I wish I had killed more of them," do you think he would be the nominee of a major party for President? And it's not just Asians. In one of the primary debates, one of the candidates suggested that ties between the US and various Muslim states might be improved by trade. Unable to contain himself, the gibbering old senile fool McCain laughed and said, "I don't want to trade for no burkhas!" instantly hitting an all time low for comments in a debate. Can you picture what would happen if someone had said, in response to a statement about trade with Israel, "I don't want to trade for no yarmulkes!" or had said of China, "I don't want to trade for no chopsticks!" or of some African nation, "I don't want to trade for no spears!" But because McCain said it, it's OK, because the media bought into the narrative of McCain the saint years ago and now nothing can change it, no matter what the crazy old psycho says. I realize that there was a time when John McCain provided honorable service to the United States, but he pissed that away years ago. He certainly shit all over his own service and disgraced it and the uniform he once wore for all time when he helped craft a "compromise" on the Military Commissions Act, providing the President with amnesty for military and intelligence personnel who had committed torture and war crimes. Fuck McCain and fuck the press types [like John King] who can't stop sucking his cock long enough to report basic facts about the man.
-
Until we get rid of the carbon units infesting this planet. Only when a perfect utopia run by machines, of the machines, and for the machines, shall we truly have a perfect "president"--or supreme ruling unit, as I like to say.
-
...is the white conservative way of attacking Obama without being considered racist themselves, at least they hope. You get a white right-wing guy angrily going after a black politician with no merit, and it doesn't look good. The remedy, call the black guy a racist even if its unfounded in the hope of deflecting their own attitude towards blacks.
-
And I'll probably vote against him. Is that racist?
-
By the way, Obama, this is NOT the "voice of the American people." This is the voice of a racist, biased liberal who happens to have been your spiritual guide for 20+ years. A real American would have left that Church years and years ago. But such comments are applauded in the Church of Liberalism, aren't they? You and your pastor are a lot alike -- you BOTH HATE CONSERVATIVES. However, you know when to shut your mouth during the most controversial statements and replace those words with empty rhetoric that are embraced by the unsuspecting, uneducated masses.
-
He loves liberals of every color. And conservatives can be re-educated, if rounded up into camps and converted to the One True Faith. Obama will himself provide us with the loaves and fishes.
-
Or will be rounding conservatives up. I do think he'd have a pretty agressive liberal agenda, and that might redound to the Republican's favor in 2010, if they can run the midterms as a national campaign, ala '94.
-
Nuff said, and which party is majority? Who's rating theses people anyways? I've never been asked. I know, I know but CNN said. I agree McCain right now is the safest choice all party BS aside. Some might say wheres the facts, umm, well try asking Obama or Hillary for facts and get back to me on that one.
-
...but I am intelligent enough to see through the lies of Obama and the Democratic Party. I wouldn't vote for Obama -- even if he were running against Hillary! If the Democratic Party truly wanted to help blacks, they would have done so years ago. Promises of increased welfare just doesn't cut it anymore -- and NEVER helped African Americans. It was just a band-aid on the cancer caused by the historically racist Democratic Party (the party of slavery, segregation and Jim Crowe). But how many uneducated dipshits believe the nonsense that the Democratic Party is the party of the "common man?" They are the party that keeps the poor in their poor conditions. If the Democratic Party truly helped African Americans out of poverty through education and social intergration, then there just wouldn't be many African American Democrats, would there?
-
Stone needs another oscar anyway.
-
The people who label Obama as a racist are projecting. Its like the homophobes who constantly talk, obsess, and rant about gays and how much they hate them, and when they see a really good looking guy, they start calling him a fag because deep within themselves, they want to fuck that good looking guy in the ass. So, they project onto the good looking guy, and call him queer. The conservatives who call Obama racist are projecting too.
-
Obama is much clearer in his messages, but still avoids a lot. I just think Obama is in it for the wrong reasons and is not qualified for the job just yet. If he would have waited longer to run I would have considered him.

Now, I'm an atheist, and a militant and dickish one, as many people on this board can attest. So it's not my Bible and I don't have to answer for it. But it strikes me that pretty much half of the Old Testament is prophets damning Israel for failing to live up to God's commandments. And if when Jeremiah called down the damnation of God on Israel, he was not only right, but SO RIGHT that his writing was considered inspired by God by the folks who put the Bible together, wouldn't it be appropriate for a religious person to damn America, if America failed to live up to God's commandments to an extent equal to or greater than that of ancient Israel? If your pastor does NOT call down fire and brimstone on sin, why doesn't he? It strikes me that if the Biblical Jeremiah was right, then Jeremiah Wright was also right. And Wright should be applying the standards of the Bible, right? Since he's a preacher? And not some lesser temporal standard?

Point one: it's not that the conservative comes in playing all nicey-nicey. They come here to stir up shit. Like you. You're part of the problem! Good job!
Point two: Don't provide links. People will follow them, actually read them, and realize that you practice selective memory and at worst are completely unable to read materials in an objective light.
Point three: unfortunately for you, some of us know what snopes.com is. Anybody interested in why the Clinton deaths thing is bullshit, look here:http://www.snopes.com/politics/military/deaths.asp -
You have shot your feet so many times, it is a wonder you can still walk. This latest was a doozy - the one about Obama's 0 military training. That part is very true. But that implies that George W. Bush's 1970's U.S. based (no overseas) National Guard unit training, and Cheney's draft dodg....er, deferment, qualifies them as ready to command the worlds greatest military? Hmmm.
-
"President George W. Bush is a foul-mouthed, reformed drunk obsessed with baseball, Saddam Hussein and a conflicted relationship with his dad."
I guess that's why Stone chose Josh Brolin for the role. -
"President George W. Bush is a foul-mouthed, reformed drunk obsessed with baseball, Saddam Hussein and a conflicted relationship with his dad."

Seriously, we won't know the depth of Dubya's horrid presidency for decades. Why make a film about him now?
-
How can the scientific polls at nonpartisan PollingReport.com (which are actually a collection of ALL scientific polling results) be construed as "selective memory?" You stupid little fuck! Read the polls! The approval rating of the Democrats in Congress is at least 10 points LOWER than the approval ratings of President Bush! Even your obviously liberal polls show that! Get a life, little liberal shit for brains! BTW...the death tolls during the Clinton Administration came from all over the world. They are provided by the Pentagon and Joint Chiefs of Staff yearly. It just was a response to those fucked up zombies who want to accuse Bush of a sinister fetish for "sending boys to their deaths." Liberalism might really be a disease, huh? It produces a blindness that causes its sufferers to only see what they want to see. The cure, however, is education.
-
I'm not offended. I'm not even a liberal. I just thought it was a dumb comparison, liberals as religion and Bush as their devil. Like I said.
-
I think there is enough just at the surface of this assholes presidency to make a movie. I do agree the depth will be realized for decades tho
-
You stupid fuck! Can you really sit there and tell me this war is legitimate, if so please do. Lets see how stupid you sound, c'mon
-
Why do you keep mentioning it? Either you are or you are not, who cares? As for Blacks supporting Democrats, I am guessing (I could be wrong) but I am guessing it is out of self interest - meaning, Blacks believe the Democratic party, best serves their purposes. Not a terribly difficult concept. Sure, pre and post civil war had Blacks (those allowed to vote) supporting Republicans! Wow. The partys of Lincoln. Perhaps some self interest there too? And extremist and hate groups that spawned in the post-reconstruction era, supported -wait for it, Democrats! It just shows, you can not trust people to stay with political parties that change over time and seem to abandon the principles that you and they once ascribed too. Darn, what is the world coming too?
-
b/c ppl wont pay to see a gw movie

holla!

In fairness, McCain doesn't call all Asians gooks. He only calls the Viet Cong under Ho Chi Ming who captured and torchered him gooks. I don't agree with calling any Asians gooks, but none of us were ever imprisioned and torchered like McCain was.
I'm not a big fan of McCain and don't intend on voting for him, but I do understand where his use of the racial slur comes from even if I don't particularly agree with it.
As for the other comment, I have never heard it. So I can't comment. And I will not comment about anything political on a movie and television site. -
of actually responding to questions or criticisms in this forum, but continues to spout his own extreme brand of politics without reference to what anyone, including myself, have thoughtfully posted above. Just so you know, Chrism...I am a liberal...and I have lots of conservative friends, some dating all the way back to high school. And we are perfectly capable of sitting down and disagreeing about politics over a beer...and we never disrespect each other about it! Wow! It IS possible to be civil in America! Even when we disagree! You might try it sometime, Chrism...then you might actually come to understand the opposing viewpoints you hate so much and still be able to disagree with them.

but would make one hell of a BBQ!

Sorry chism is currently googling "Legitimate reasons for Iraq War" at the moment. He will get back to us as soon as he finds someone elses thoughts.

I am not comparing Obama with Bush. I am comparing Obama with Senator McCain. McCain spent 23+ years in the military after having graduated from the US Naval Academy as an officer. Obama spent 0 years in the military, but earned millions as an attorney after graduating from Harvard Law School. McCain spent 5 and a half years in a Prisoner of War camp in Vietnam. He endured years of torture for not spilling military secrets or revealing the names of his fellow servicemen. Obama stayed in the "Hanoi Hilton" prison camp insisting that his fellow prisoners be released before him. Obama earned millions keeping poor African Americans in Tony "the Syrian" Rezko's Chicago area slums. While the poor feasted on Angel Food groceries, Obama wined and dined in his mansion and in the Chicago Hilton. McCain returned from the POW camp with serious injuries (he still cannot lift his hands to his ears because his shoulder was shot, broken and crushed by his prison captors). He was offered a honorable discharge -- but he remained in the service. After months of rehab, he did the impossible: He returned to active flight duty. Obama spent his youth "struggling" to earn millions of dollars in lawyer fees through his wealthy law practice. All the while, he learned about "suffering" through his controversial spiritual guide, Reverend Wright. McCain retired from the military and served for over 25 years in both the House and Senate. He reached across party lines in an effort to serve this nation. Obama was first elected to the Senate in 2006, began serving in January 2007, and began running for President and Commander-in-Chief a month later. He holds the current record for most days absent in the Senate. Is it me, or is the choice clear? McCAIN is the ONLY CORRECT CHOICE for America!!!
-
...were eloquated by Secretary of State Colin Powell in 2003. If you are TOO STUPID to look those up, then there is no hope for your feeble minds. BTW, look them up. Check out Bob Woodward's book "BUSH AT WAR." It will dispell all of your empty and foolish rhetoric about the war.
-
chism deflects. As usual i guess
-
Some of us poor folk still have to earn a living. McCAIN/CONDI in 2008!!! It is the liberals' worst nightmare: A centrist war hero and a highly educated African American woman who can think for herself!
-
You are absolutely correct about ccchhhrrriiisssm. I have noticed this in other threads as well, he will just spout off some extremist nonsense, but when called upon, in rational manner to defend such talk, he just goes off on another tangent/rant, or just disappears (the usual excuse is that he is a struggling grad student at GWU and must finish his thesis and does not have time to post a reply). I am not posting heer with any expectation of a reposnse form him, leta alone a rational one, I am simply trying to counter such extremist nonsense.
-
"I can't articulate why I think the unnecessary Iraq was started. Beacuse I am one of many sheep, and I am only able to spout sheepish rhetoric. Plus I might be slightly retarded."
-
...Why do you think we went to war in Iraq? Don't tell me: You ignorantly think that this is either about OIL or a sinister plan by stupid ol' Bush? You liberals are a gullible breed, aren't you? *sigh* BACK TO WORK...
-
Shiiit. I will be first in line. This is the first thing related to that SOB that I've actually been interested in seeing or hearing about.
-
END THE WAR.
-
The far right is scary, the far left is scary, and the reality that people vote for their candidate based on meaningless bullshit - such as, say, YouTube clips of the opposing candidates Pastor - is the most scary of all. Sigh.
-
Why so anti-american?
-
Well, according to Bill Maher, McCain supporters "don't know how to work the YouTube. They can't figure out the TV remote." I love Maher, lol.
-
Why so retarded?
-
Seriously, as a nation, do we want even MORE negative publicity? I think we all need to start thinking about how other countries see us right now. A movie that paints a "colorful" picture about how much of a douchebag good old Dubya is would be likethose old WW2 propaganda films to the rest of the world. Just bad charicature and a poor message.
-
Right. That's why he voted against Martin Luther King Day.
-
YOU both are simply mindless liberal extremists who enjoy talking to one another about your disease (liberal extremism). I am just a poor PhD candidate trying to educate you damn fools about the dangers of the possibility of DNC STDs that can come from sucking Obama's eloquent penis. But suck away your life! I'd rather believe truth than the fiction that comes in the form of liberal talking points. See ya at 5:30...
-
Sean Hannity, is that you?
-
to make the next twenty posts profanity free. What an intellectual crutch all those "fucks" are... Can you make a cogent argument and backup your stance without resorting to schoolyard name calling or laughably extremist claims (e.g., "all liberals are communists" or "all conservatives are fascists")? Let's find out.
-
This is Obama's "voice of the American people" that he has supported for 20+ years.
-
I think Stone's career is pretty much over, and this project of his is not much more than a publicity stunt (which probably will benefit the republicans more than the democrats this Fall--if it has any effect at all).

ccchhhrrriiisssm, I already explained how McCain pissed all that
by fluffyunbound
On the basis of the fact that he collaborated in providing amnesty for torturers and war criminals, he no longer has any grounds for being given any credit whatsoever for his military service, and CERTAINLY no grounds for being given any credit for his suffering in Viet Nam. He traded that in to suck up to Bush. He wanted to be President, and knew he had to make nice with Bush to do that, so he pissed on the memory of his honorable service.
By the way, I am the person farthest to the right of anyone on this board. So it's not a matter of "liberalism creating blindness" or anything of the sort. I have hated Bush since the day he signed McCain-Feingold into law, and after that betrayal nothing the son of a bitch has done has surprised me one bit. I thought nothing about McCain could surprise me, since I'm hated the bastard for years, but even my breath was taken away when he helped the President pass the Military Commissions Act by pretending to "fix" it while leaving its most reprehensible features in place. I had thought that of all the scumbags in Washington, at least McCain would stand up against war crimes and against torture, because of what he had been through. It turned out I was wrong, and that McCain was only too happy to stand up and take press accolades for being a man of honor, while he turned around and helped Bush throw the country's honor away.
A man of honor would help bring torturers to justice. He wouldn't help them cover up their crimes and escape punishment for them.
McCain disgusts me not only for his disdain for our Constitutional traditions, his hatred of free speech, and his radical, Peronist contempt for capitalism - but also because I can't bear to see a man who continually dissembles given credit for being a "straight talker", or a man who continually sucks up to power given credit for being a maverick, or a man who throws his own honor and the honor of the country away to curry favor with George W. Bush described as a man of honor. It's disgusting. -
Dan Rather, is that you?
-
At least Dan Rather had a distinguished career, which is more than we can say for Mssr. Hannity. Rather misspoke on one story, Hannity lies and takes things out of context every single day. So sure, I'll be Dan Rather.
-
There has been a recent relative increase in violence in Iraq, and what did it coincide with? The war protests, as predicted. During a war, responsible citizens, and especially responsible political leaders should not be protesting the waf IF they really care about the safety and lives of our troops; the protest embolden the enemy, give them hope, and give the casualties they accomplish much more meaning in terms of accomplishing their goals, mainly to turn the Middle East back to the chaos it was and make sure democracy is never accomplished in Iraq. Obama had an interview on the Today show today putting a timetable on when we will pull out of Iraq, specifying two years. He is saying this while troops are on the ground and in danger. Will the enemies now not step up the attacks, kill more of our troops, to make sure Obama is elected and they win? They realize they don't have to beat our military, just our will, and the will of supposedly one of our leaders. But what Obama said on the Today show is not leadership, it is irresponsible, and disqualifies him from being President, and perhaps even a good american citizen. Now for the liberals above who spew out generalizations, like, 'we should pull out because the war is a colossal fuck up anyway', be specific, why is this war wrong? Why was freeing a people, giving them liberty, and helping them preserve it wrong? Why? If you are a true liberal, why are you against liberty? Perhaps you are the true racist who only believe freedom is for only certain kinds of people, not for those savages in the Middle East. Now is you say the war is a disaster because there are casualties, then I'm not sure you understand the definition of war. So unless you are just a pure pacificst, please clearly state why this war in Iraq was wrong, i challenge you to come with anything that makes any sense.
-
Admit it: you're not nearly the vicious, liberal-hating uber-conservative you pretend to be here. Now I'm not claiming you're not politically conservative in RL, but come on, man... You're pretty much just poking the TB hornet's nest, right?
-
... one of the worst best filmmakers in history. His artistic capacity gives him a lot of power to deliver compelling, half-truth propaganda in such fare as JFK. His movies are really good, but evil at the same time. What good does he think he will do? To suggest he is fair and cares about the truth is insane. He is to fiction what Michael Moore is to reality. They distort the truth with such gusto, hoping the masses buy it. And people surely do. It's amazing how one side says America is stupid for electing Bush and its love of NASCAR, when they are stupid enough to believe the propaganda that the media sales. (I don't like NASCAR and I would have voted for Ron Paul, if you need to know my political motivations.)
-
i found the tampon you were looking for. I was in your ass the whole time you fucking pickle sniffer!
-
Everyone should stop responding t this person. I've been trying to have a conversation all morning, and haven't been able to start one yet.
-
Very intelligent response. Thank you. I bow to the superior intellect of the man who says "pickle sniffer" and that there are tampons in my ass. Nice intellectual discourse, genius.
-
He's not evil like some people make out, but defending him so fiercely is also a bit bizzare.
-
That's also saying that even if you disagree with something, you should lay down and take it, which does not sound "American" to me. Problem with this war is that it would be irresponsible to just bugger out right now, too. Bush should be held accountable for this illegal war, period. Blame "bad intelligence" all you want, there was no reason to go in there.
-
He once again answered a valid and rational question, with an off tangent rant, and used the excuse that he is a grad student and has to leave! LOL damn, I wish I could predict the powerball as easily as ccchhhrrriiisssm.
-
No matter what he says, ignore his attempts to pull your chain and anger you. Arguing with him is like trying to have an intelligent conversation with Ann Coulter.
-
Yay.
-
Thought after you responded to me as "retarded" I would return the favor you semen chugging queen!
-
I dont advocate hitting woman, but that broad.......
-
yay!
-
...who still defend Bush.
Look, I voted for him but I now despise him. The only good person to put into office is Ron Paul. He is the only one speaking the truth (and telling what he will do and HOW he will do it). Everyone else is saying what they will do without backing it up with how they are going to accomplish it. But Ron Paul is ignored. Why? Not controversial enough. -
Oh, yeah, you're conservative. Of course you are.
-
"So unless you are just a pure pacificst, please clearly state why this war in Iraq was wrong, i challenge you to come with anything that makes any sense." The war was wrong because it did not serve the interests of the United States. Anyone who thinks it DID serve the interests of the United States is a fool who can't provide a simple cost/benefit analysis. Here, I will give you a quick two minute lesson in how to do so: Add up the costs encountered in Iraq to date. Include in your analysis costs that are already on the balance sheet but which have not been directly experienced yet, like increased veterans' care expenses and the like. Compare them to what has been achieved. If you think that what we have achieved in Iraq, purely in terms of enhancing the security of the United States, was worth the costs we have incurred, you're nuts. If you can't think of any way in which we could have used a trillion dollars and the lives of 4000 men that would have enhanced our security more than this war has, you are a fool. Not to mention the indirect costs, like the breathing space that was given to Iran by our overcommitment on the ground in Iraq, or the permanent harm to our diplomatic credibility done by Powell's UN presentation, or the fact that Britain now considers her blood debt paid so we can't trade on that chip again, or the way in which our allies in Europe were alienated, or the amount of political capital we had to expend with smaller nations to get them to join the "coalition of the willing", etc. These costs just don't make sense. And now we're staying, because morons who have never heard of the Sunk Cost Fallacy say stupid things like, "Well, now we have to stay to make sure the sacrifice we've made to this point wasn't for nothing." That type of thinking is what produces the sort of person who holds on to his Enron stock all the way to zero, because he never learned the discipline of cutting his losses and walking away.
-
That's not true. I'm not afraid of you at all. geez
-
And you know this to be true.
-
I find it more than a little amusing that people from both sides of this argument are spewing all sorts of hate, and then accusing the other person of being the only one being hateful.
In reponse to the comment "If you faggots were around during WWII, we'd all be speaking German right now..." No. Just no. Germany didn't even really have the resources to do what they did, and Hitler seriously screwed the pooch by going after Russia. There is no way he could have come after the US, and if he did, there is no way he would have won. -
...we'd all be speaking German today.
-
why does she keep showing them like they look good?
-
I died a little inside from the lack of coverage our sleaze bag media gave Ron Paul, even after he was getting upwards of 11% in the primaries WITHOUT MEDIA SUPPORT.
-
I agree that it is MUCH too soon to even think about doing a movie on Bush. No one on either side is going to want to see this. Will be the biggest bomb of the year when it comes out.
-
I love how that memo that said "Bin Laden is in the room right now and he's going to blow up America" basically went unnoticed by Bush and his cohorts. Real forward thinking there.
-
If MLK believed that creationism is science, then he was as wrong Bush is about it. Just because the guy was a great civil leader doesn't mean he can't believe in something dumb. I wouldn't hate him for that. Bush, however, I have real reasons to despise.
-
"Gates" McFadden? I actually hated her character...especially her delivery of my favorite TNG line....Scene: Dr. Crusher and Capt. Picard are discussing Wesley Crusher.Picard: "The 'Traveler' always said Wesley was special"Dr. Crusher: "Yes, like Mozart."That was it for me...nothing would be the same ever after that line. I think that single line killed Wheaton's entire career. Gee, thanks weird big giant blocky bodied creepy pointy-faced doctor woman named after a bunch of lawn doors. Shite!
-
on Clintons watch and he said no. Good ole liberals!

Everything in the country is just hunky fucking dorey! What's wrong with Iraq? Nothing! We're winning! What is wrong with the healthcare of America today? Nothing! It’s perfectly fine. In fact, it’s ranked the “number one best healthcare system ever in the world” by leading professionals such as Bill 'O Reilly, Rush Limbaugh, Anne Coulter, and Fred Thompson. Ron Paul even called it a “miracle” among first world nations on his first Fox News appearance. The World Health Organization (WHO) lies when they rank the US as “37th in the world for the performance of its healthcare system.” This is because the WHO is run by illegal immigrants and Communists. The poor don’t even want healthcare. They’d rather have to pay for it, and earn that money squarely with high class jobs such as those in the coal mine or at McDonald’s. If doctors didn’t operate on a for-profit basis, what’s the incentive that would keep them operating on customers profiled by wealth? Let’s face it, a homeless guy with a gunshot wound is just a drain on society and doesn’t deserve the same healthcare as an upper-middle class male who was mugged and rolled an ankle. In fact, money should determine what kind of healthcare you can get to the fullest extent. If you can’t afford it, don’t get sick. It’s easy - I haven’t gotten sick in over a year, and when I do, I just sleep it off. My kids like to stay home from school at least once a week. And who can blame them when they have to go to a public school and risk getting infected by all the lower class kids under them who might have the German measles or AIDS? Life is a privilege in America, not a right. Let’s keep it that way.
-
Not only do I love your post, but also you were a leadoff man for the Oakland A's. Nice work.

I heard McCain is a cyborg! Not kidding! I also heard Obama is a Al Qaeda double-agent...you know it!!! And Hillary Clinton devours planets, children, and kitten (plural form of kittens should be kitten, nuff said). Bush isn't even human...he's a giant robot from the future shrunk down during the great Rectification of the Vuldronaii right after the third reconciliation of the last of the Meketrex supplicants. But that's just me.

Seriously, ccchhhrrriiisssm is right! Lets Vote McCain!
by rickey henderson
John McCain will shape our future. He will correct our wrongs, or at least the ones religious terrorists have instilled in our minds since 9/11. He will rule by the Bible, as did Jesus over Jerusalem. He will ask himself, “what would Jesus do?” and respond through the executive power. He will save our unborn children from Dr. Kavorkian. He will protect our borders from terrorists and immigrants who only wish to law waste to a heavenly land. He will lead us to victory against Islamists, who hope for the destruction of Christianity and everything the United States stands for. He will protect us against the anti-Christ, which lurks in every bar, on every corner street of every ghetto, in Iran, in schools that support the rock and roll movement, and even in our very own homes on the train. McCain for President! He's a true patriot of Christian America!

She does it while dodging sniper fire.

Which makes me chuckle. Too bad your golden boy Romney got whomped in the primaries because he's a goddamned alien.

Are people suggesting this for more than the comical farce of it?!? I mean, do people actually think she'd be a competent Vice President!??!Look at the world's opinion of us and tell me what a GREAT job the Dept of State has been doing. Condi Rice is one of the worst Secretary's of State this country has seen in the modern era. Get a fuckin' clue.
-
is still relevant?... oh, sorry. wrong tb. but still, stone hasn't done anything semi-decent since any given sunday. he's a hack now - no one gave a damn about wtc, and even less will give a damn about this project. give it a rest, stone... you're done.

I think Al Franken said this (and I'm not his biggest fan, but he's on the nose w/ this one)Modern conservatives love America the way a 4 year old loves his/her mommy.Anyone that says anything bad about their Mommy is wrong and their mommy can't do anything wrong. This mindless bullshit of "MY COUNTRY: RIGHT OR WRONG" is what's halting he advancement of the human race....keep it up, Wheeler!!
-
...statistically likely to DIE in office. Beyond how much sense that makes...McCain is the status quo. America is fucking SICK of the status quo. Sorry, Conservatives...but you're gonna have at least 8 years of a democratic president and congress. GET PAST IT!
-
Another murderous attack on hummanity is near, do we really want a college circuit liberal in the White House when shit goes down? Rickey thinks not! No sir, we need Mr John "I got the fuck tortured out of me" McCain in charge of things! Rest assured, McCain will solve our quagmire in Iraq with advanced weaponry and civilized warfare tactics!
-
TOTAL FUCKING DESTRUCTION.
-
This is the United States of America. We are the current 'Gold Standard' when it comes to freedom. Expression, speech, thought. No man, woman, government body, religion, politcal entity, foreign power, etc. can dictate how we choose to think and act - as long as it is lawful. Being a Patriot, loving one's country, does not mean you walk in lock-step with everything that the government does. It does not mean that you nod your head and say 'that's right' when you believe otehriwse. Because in doing so, you have just given up that freedom, that has been fought and bled for. I am former military (always military), and protest does not bother me, because some of the most ardent protesters to war, will always be the men and women who have to fight it. Now, on to a point you tried to make, the war protesters - who marked the anniversary of the war, barely made a ripple in the local media, let alone national. It was lamented far and wide that people just did not care anymore about the war, so what little protest there were, had no causal effect on any upsurge of violence in Iraq. The true reasons for it are that the surge has stopped, and that Shia on Shia violence is escalating. Not violence direcetd at Americans, yes, American soldiers will become victims because we support the Iraqi gov't Shia, but in far less numbers than even before the surge happened. No, protest here did not cause any upsurge in violence. And it is a base canard to suggest that lawful protest leads to American losses. It is a cynical way for supporters of a war - any conflict for that matter, to say 'you are unpatriotic'. A Partiot stands up for the principles of the Country, as was imbedded in the Constitution, not the gov't that happens to be in power.
-
Since when does being a torture victim equate to being a badass?, hahahahahaaa. Don't answer, thats rhetorical. No seriously, don't answer.
-
Why is anyone looking forward to this?
Right-leaners like me know that Stone is not interested in looking at W. fairly or accurately. It'll be a hatchet job whether he attempts to elicit "sympathy" for the president or not. And this is no exaggeration: unless you're a socialist/communist dictator you won't get a truly sympathetic eye from Ollie. Plus Oliver Stone is absolutely incapable of creating quality art anymore.
Left-leaners don't care whether W. is portrayed accurately. They drool at the prospect of a scene with W. choking on a pretzel while simultaneously ordering the execution of blacks in New Orleans. Anything short of that sort of slander and their blood lust won't be satisfied. But they also know in their hearts that OLIVER STONE IS ABSOLUTELY INCAPABLE OF CREATING QUALITY ART ANYMORE.
So this won't be fun on any level. For anyone. Accept that. -

Its hard to distinguish the ridiculous sarcastic supporters of McCain from those who actually do support him, because they are both equally ridiculous. So next time, if you want to portray yourself as a humorous satire of right-wing nuts, you have to do better, because you came off just like every other right-wing nut in this talkback.
-
Which part of "Don't answer" did you not understand. It was rhetorical. Don't answer.
-
to determine who the better candidate will be. I certainly wouldn't put McCain in the radical/extremist camp that Bush belongs to but in order to win the support of the Right, he may have to bend towards them and that would lead us right back down the same path Bush did. Sorry you couldn't see the obvious sarcasm there, but it was fairly clear in Rickey's opinion. As far as the right wing nutjobs here go, well, they're batshit crazy. And then you've got an insane jackass like Braffed who's from another goddamned planet entirely. (sigh) This is why Rickey doesn't stop by AICN much anymore...
-
This is where the term "RINO" comes in. The only thing that sets McCain apart from the Democrat party is probably War in Iraq.
Also keep in mind, if Obama was elected, we'd still be in Iraq up until 2011. -
And yet, this seems to me to be a total cash-grab by Stone. We're not going to get anything like a true picture of the Bush presidency for a long, long time after he leaves office (if ever). I think it will actually do a huge disservice to Bush, and the audience, to rush a film through before he even leaves office. I just don't think anyone can have the correct perspective on the the Bush 43 presidency to do an artistically worthwhile film, like "Nixon." Of course, "Nixon" was a pretty good movie because Richard Nixon was one of the most brilliant and complex people in all of American history (he was also a pretty good president) but it took a couple decades before anyone could really have the perspective to do his story justice on film.

You twisted fuckers were rooting for Mtt Romney weren't you? Awww... It's such a sad day when a filthy-rich, white, Christian, pro-war, American man with good looks and correct morality can lose the favor of the public. Romney is Reagan! If the public doesn't like him, then they don't like Reagan!

Um, in your response to Toadkillerdog, you compare McCain's years in the military to Obama’s rise to wealth as an attorney. You do realize by Republican Party standards, a guy like Obama is more suited to being in office. Who do you want running the country? A good soldier, or a damn good operator? No disrespect to Senator McCain, but his accomplishments don't show a lot of political decision-making ability, just the ability to be a good soldier, keep his mouth shut, and determinedly put his shoulder (no pun intended) back to the grindstone... Those are admirable qualities in a soldier, but do they make him a leader? Even military leaders, who are used to decisive action that can't be questioned, or revised, or be subject to review don't usually make good political leaders. Obama, on the other hand, seems like a man who can get things done, who knows how to work a system, who has refreshing ideas about a political process that has recently become rather stale. McCain simply isn't a 'people' person. I honestly don't think being a POW, or a fighting soldier for that matter makes one an expert on foreign policy. The skill sets involved in being a decisive soldier are vastly different than the skill sets involved in being a politician. Quick-thinking and snap decisions are fine if you're fighting a war (or running a dictatorship) but to be the leader of a country with a two-party system that is currently in tatters, I think one needs to be more broad-minded than McCain. As for political experience, I’ll grant you, McCain has much more than Obama. But being a Senator is much, much different than being a president. The US needs new ideas. McCain, being entrenched in a political system that has brought us 9/11 and the insanely expensive campaign in Iraq, is not one to shake up that system. Perhaps Obama will. A little change is not a bad thing. Our country was founded by revolutionaries, political amateurs looking for a better way of doing things. Anyway, go ahead and flaunt your 8 years of education. I’m four up on you, my friend.

Now that I'm done hurling childish insults, I need to share the best paragraph of the Hollywood Reporter story: "All four biographers confirmed the accuracy of one striking scene in which a young Bush challenges his father to a fistfight after coming home drunk. And while they recognized the nickname 'Turdblossom' for Rove, they were less familiar with "Balloon Foot," which Stone's Bush uses for Colin Powell. And some felt that 'Pooty Poot' for Vladimir Putin was taken from New York Times columnist Maureen Dowd, not Bush himself."

"Katrina?! I don't give a damn! about no damned Katrina man! Where da bitches at?!"
"Brown took over FEMA in 2003 with little experience in emergency management. He joined the agency in 2001 as legal counsel to his friend, then-FEMA director Joe Allbaugh, who was Bush's 2000 campaign manager. When Allbaugh left FEMA in 2003 Brown assumed the top job.
Before joining the Bush administration, Brown spent a decade as the stewards and judges commissioner of the International Arabian Horse Association.
The e-mails Melancon posted, a sampling of more than 1,000 provided to the House committee now assessing responses to Katrina by all levels of government, also show Brown making flippant remarks about his responsibilities. (Read how office e-mails can come back to haunt)
"Can I quit now? Can I come home?" Brown wrote to Cindy Taylor, FEMA's deputy director of public affairs, the morning of the hurricane.
A few days later, Brown wrote to an acquaintance, "I'm trapped now, please rescue me."
"In the midst of the overwhelming damage caused by the hurricane and enormous problems faced by FEMA, Mr. Brown found time to exchange e-mails about superfluous topics," including "problems finding a dog-sitter," Melancon said.
Melancon said that on August 26, just days before Katrina made landfall, Brown e-mailed his press secretary, Sharon Worthy, about his attire, asking: "Tie or not for tonight? Button-down blue shirt?"
A few days later, Worthy advised Brown: "Please roll up the sleeves of your shirt, all shirts. Even the president rolled his sleeves to just below the elbow. In this [crisis] and on TV you just need to look more hard-working."
On August 29, the day of the storm, Brown exchanged e-mails about his attire with Taylor, Melancon said. She told him, "You look fabulous," and Brown replied, "I got it at Nordstroms. ... Are you proud of me?"
An hour later, Brown added: "If you'll look at my lovely FEMA attire, you'll really vomit. I am a fashion god," according to the congressman."
-
This is what's wrong with all politicians, not just Republicans- every fucking last one of these fake bastards: "A few days later, Worthy advised Brown: 'Please roll up the sleeves of your shirt, all shirts. Even the president rolled his sleeves to just below the elbow. In this [crisis] and on TV you just need to look more hard-working.'"

All politicians are corrupt. Nobody'd, least of all the kind of people who would WANT to politicians, want to be one if there wasn't piles and piles of money and power in it. That's the goal of EVERY politician. So for you to witlessly defend ANY politician makes you their bitch. Name any politician and they're motivated by either money or power, or both. People, normal, everyday people like every single person who's posted in this talkback, minus the Europeans, who think they can align themselves with any politician are fucking kidding themselves. They don't give a fuck about any of us. Their stories are really interesting and valuable, so I support all sorts of books and movies about them. Seriously, though, you fucking dipshit Republicans and pussy Democrats oughta read some Thoreau.

"It leaves you with the impression that the White House is run as a fraternity house with no reverence for hierarchy, the office itself or for the implications of policy," said Robert Draper, author of "Dead Certain: The Presidency of George Bush."
so then its a dead-on portrayal of THE WORST President in our country's history, and ONE OF THE TOP FIVE WORST world leaders in human history. I just hope Oliver "Hamfisted" Stone (who I actually can't stand, and whose movies are usually laughably bad) left in plenty of Bush's fundy "christian" hate-mongering, hypocrisy, and torture porn. GITMO being the first torture porn extravaganza, followed by PASSION OF THE CHRIST (also the first GAY S&M GODPORN), and then HOSTEL. Eli "Fanboy" Roth totally ripped off Bush, Cheney, and Mel Gibson's Nazi Church beliefs! -
"Obama, on the other hand, seems like a man who can get things done, who knows how to work a system" -
get things done? All hes done (aside from talk) is approve funds for the Iraq war, and signed the Patriot Act.
As for working the system, yeah he made boatloads of cash as a lawyer. And thats somehow qualifies him as a "good leader"?
Fuck, you people are dense.
"I think I need some change"... -
I'm voting Democrat, hoping its Obama, but will vote for Clinton (even if she may as well be a Republican) if she gets the nomination. I think a Dem sweep is pretty much a lock, but even if McCain wins, I can at least respect the fact that he's not a chickenhawk pussy Jeebus-freak asshole. So, if, god forbid, we get another Republican (which, at this point, after Dubya pretty much destroyed the party with his incompetence, is next to impossible), he'll still be better than Dubya. Not that that is saying all that much considering that pretty much ANYONE, or ANYTHING, would be a better president. A retarded monkey on thorazine would be a better president. More coherent too.
But, don't worry all you ultra-right-wing fanatics, I'm sure you'll have plenty of opportunities to blame Clinton or Obama for the massive fuck-ups of the Dubya/Cheney administration and the Republican phalanx of upper-class cocksucking incompetent retards. You know, on the "liberal media" you seem to think exists (a media thats only as "liberal" as the conservative billionaires who own and run it). -
I think the recent crackdown in Texas on the polygamist and his underaged "brides", although justified of course, was given more media exposure to discourage McCain from considering Romney as VP. Did this occur to anyone or is it just me and my tinfoil hat?

…but I already know what the word polarize means. “(p o l -r z )2. To cause to concentrate about two conflicting or contrasting positions.” Yes, it’s certainly a two way street. I’m only passing on the observation that it’s the worst, during this administration, I’ve ever seen in my entire life. Take that as you will but the fact remains that, under Dubya, this nation has become anything but united, despite his stated intention. I wonder if Stone intends to highlight that fact.

This coming from a paranoid, unreformed pot-smoker that's part of a particular set that seems to hate anyone with money and power outside of the entertainment industry. I hope he gets his wish and this comes out before the election - I'd just love to see the Democrats / liberals shoot themselves in the foot again with crap like this, just like they did allowing Michael Moore to be so loud in 2004. I don't care if it is true, all it will do is cement in voter's minds the idea that most Democrat politicians and their mouthpieces are nothing more than jealous, oversensitive pricks with no backbone that hate it when an oficial actually bases a command decision on something OTHER than their moment-to-moment image.

5. Go too far Left, and you'll find yourself in the Communist Party.
4. Up until this war, the Democratic Party has historically used up more resources than the Republican Party - in campaigns and govt. funding - with no plans to recover that money.
3. Most people who align themselves with the Democratic Party aren't smart or motivated enough to make that initial decision in an educated fashion - the reason why less than two thirds of them actually cast a vote come the Presidential Election.
2. Almost every radical organization in the United States - including international terrorist organizations like PETA and Greenpeace - are Liberal-guided.
1. They just don't have the balls to force change. And change equals growth - even if it means war. That's how the country was formed in the first place, and that's how we will have to defend it until the end of Time.

There’s one major benefit you failed to mention, or respond to, the fact that we haven’t been attacked here in the U.S. In addition, and I realize it is partly my fault for using the past tense, but the war is current, and the potential benefit exists, and coming closer to reality is a major ally in that region, which will contribute to its stabilization, including dealing with Iran and other nations breeding terrorists in that region. Unlike President Bush, and Sec. Rice, you are not looking long term and also are not learning from history. Iraq is part of an overall, and consistent strategy to deal with the Islamic terrorist fascists throughout the world. As Rice points out in many of her recent speeches, and President Bush, the U.S. lost its credibility in that region because it was not consistent in dealing with nations, and our claim to value freedom and liberty for all people. As G.W. himself admitted, his father contributed to that by not finishing the job in the first Gulf War, he buckled to pressure from people like you, and liberals who don’t have the will to fight a just war, and was content with a false stabilization and false sense of security that Saddam was powerless, and ‘boxed in’ but he was not powerless in his own nation, and as history showed, not powerless in the region. We freed Kuwait, but the Iraqi people were still suffering under a dictator, and fear of being tortured, and daughters randomly kidnapped to be raped and murdered. Mass graves reveal the genocide taking place. So now, we have to work hard to regain the trust and credibility with the people who count, the common people, the citizens of Iraq, not the diplomats and the powers in the U.N., some who wanted to hide their ties to Saddam, such as China, Russia, and even the former govt of France. So, the ‘cost’ you mention is based on a false premise, that these people who we lost credibility to were, or will ever be our true allies anyway. But, in the eyes of the people , such as movements for freedom in Iran, who see the U.S. truly valuing freedom and liberty for all people, then a real and concrete credibility will be gained, it will take time, but it will be much more real than giving in to the whims and complaints of nations who would really like to see our nation fall from superpower status. But the heart of the matter is a consistent policy, an overall international policy, that is consistent in its message that all people deserve freedom and liberty. And the reality of history also shows that your premise, that Iraq had no weapons of mass destruction, or had no intentions of developing them, is not necessarily true. Many forget the major delay to go into Iraq, a delay caused by the UN, which gave Saddam plenty of time to get rid of evidence, to smuggle it to another country, so reality and logic points to the original reason we went in most likely being true. In addition, Saddam clearly harbored and contributed to the terrorism, especially in the region, and especially Israel, giving payments to suicide bombers, etc. Now, such attacks are down, throughout the region, and throughout the world, in places such as Afghanistan, Indonesia, the Philippines, ets. Thanks to Bush’s policy. But again the most important benefit is that we havent been attacked on our soil. Now with all the ‘costs’ you list, what about the cost of another 9/11 attack, or even consistent smaller versions on U.S. soil? That would be a much greater cost than taking it to the enemy’s territory and fighting them with the best military in the world. As Chesterton said, “a good war is better than a bad peace’, to leave Saddam in power would have been a ‘bad peace’ for all because terrorism would have festered in that region, and history was already proving that attacks were getting progressively worse, culminating in the 9/11 attacks.

"Bin Ladin Determined to Strike in US" then 9/11 could've been prevented altogether. At least done something, maybe even get his ass out of Crawford and back to the White House to strategize? Put airports on alert? No? Too busy chasing possums?

the 100 foreign policy experts being from both the left and the right. But, yes, it is deceptive and the ultimate point was surely not non-partisan. Good point.

The last thing most people want to do is read a 700 word block of text with no paragraph breaks. Maybe do some self-editing next time

Being a fucking idiot doesn't make him a liberal. The only one of his policies that resembles a traditional liberal train of thought is his great mid-east national building exercise, which every "conservative" around here seems to praise him for.
-
1) Just because he spent like a drunk who won Lotto doesn't make him "Liberal". He and his Administration are just fiscally reckless. Period. Liberals don't want to put our nation in multi-generational debt to China and Saudi Arabia to finance this war. So no, that doesn't make him "Liberal".
2) Immigration Policy. Both he and the ultra-Left (of which I am not) want to open the borders for wildly opposing reasons. He wants to give his wealthy corporate constituents a large resource of practically free labor. The Left want to give those same people a means of making a better living, not living in indentured servitude. Again, that doesn't make him "Liberal". Just reckless and driven by corporate greed. -

Fluffy , you're simply wrong(sorry Toad, directed it to wrong TB
by antoniusbloc
I never accused the protesters of being ‘unpatriotic’, I never used the word patriotic, and I never said they don’t have the right to do or say what they are saying. You have the right to be stupid. You have the right to be irresponsible. You have the right, unfortunately, to endanger the troops with what you say or do. I never called for their arrest, I just said, that if they choose to do this while troops are on the ground, they are either stupid, ignorant, don’t care about the lives of our troops, and are putting politics above their safety. In America, we have the right to be unpatriotic and un-American, but labels aside, if these protesters really cared about our troops, they would know that now is not the time to do it, not the way they are doing it, I don’t care how you characterize the coverage. I frankly saw two days of coverage on national news networks , the internet, and top stories in local news, and the timing really sickened me, because soldiers did die soon after. The most irresponsible are the political leaders, whether liberals or libertarians, who should know better, and know that this shouldn’t be used in politics right now, not while troops are in harms way. Again, the irony of these labels, ‘liberals’ ‘libertarians’ yet they are against a war that gave people a real chance at liberty and freedom. They are the true hypocrites. Now protest all you want. Obama has the right to say he will absolutely withdraw troops and when, essentially giving strategy to an enemy, he has every right. And I have a right to say such actions are irresponsible and forget un patriotic, but un-american.
I have every right to ask, whose side are they on if they are willing to endanger our troops defending our safety? -

OKAY, THEN EXPLAIN HOW CLINTON LEFT OFFICE WITH A BUDGET SURPLUS
by bringingsexyback
if fiscal recklessness is a Leftist trait. If you want to view Bush as a Liberal, that's fine. But be aware that's subject to public ridicule.
-
It's really the ultra-right who view Bush as a Lib. And that's their option. I echo Fishus' wish for a return of good old PaleoConservatism. Pragmatic Conservatives who can be reasoned with and not be totally reckless. The same goes for the Left. This country needs to be pulled together, seriously.

(Oh, and during Clinton's term unemployment managed to get below four percent. Read a fucking book MorbidObesity and stop making shit up). -
They were thrilled because during during Bush Sr.'s term it had risen well above seven percent. You claimed that Bush Jr. has better numbers than Clinton did. I just gave you a statistic that proves you're wrong and now you're trying to change your statement. Clinton's unemployment numbers also went down every single year in office. That is something Bush cannot claim. Clinton helped us recover from the failed economic policies of the last two Republicans (almost ten percent unemployment during Reagan, yikes!).

OLIVER STONE IS A JOKE HACK DIRECTOR...HE'S A ONE TRICK PONY THAT RELIES ONLY ON CONTROVERSY TO SELL HIS PIECE'S OF CRAP!
-
For crying out loud, some of you here SERIOUSLY need to fucking get out your parents' basement more often. Really, go get laid or something to relieve some of your latent anger, even if it does mean having to admit that you need to pay for a hooker to get sex. As someone noted above, the friggin' political Talkbacks never cease to amaze. They always create the MOST ill-will and bring out the silliest childish behavior, as some hit all-new ridiculous lows in trying to spew their anger -- instead of talking about something geeky, like what color lightsaber you'd like to have. Which frankly IS totally dweeby and geeky, but at least it's a helluva lot more fun and even toned than some of the hate that's started to spread here. Man, I don't even want to THINK about the levels of hate that are going to erupt on election night this time around...As for this movie, of course it will BOMB. Who the fuck wants to see this??? On what planet does making it even make sense??? If you're on the Left, you don't want to give money to a movie about Bush even if it does gut him. You already believe he's the devil, so it's not like you need Oliver Stone to convince you of that any further. And if you lean Right, then you know Stone is the same conspiracy-minded whack hack that (unfortunately for his career) turned into a total nut job somewhere along the way. So you know it will be a butcher job and you won't want to pay money to see it EITHER.Which brings us back to the core question: Who the fuck would want to see this? I mean aside from the possible exception of the 12 die-hard fans that Stone still has left? Answer: NO ONE. So I say shit-can this abomination BEFORE it flushes away loads of money (in terms of both production and marketing costs) and put that cash towards some of the NEW scripts that are languishing in Hollywood -- you know, scripts with ideas that could create cool movies or launch all-new franchises that would actually MAKE MONEY at the box office. I know! I know! It's a coo-coo crazy idea to think Hollywood would actually want to MAKE money for once, but why not give it a try? Better to do that than flush millions down the toilet, which is what this movie will do.I mean, seriously, Dear Studios: if you're THAT anxious to just flush money away, put it in a suitcase and send it my way. I'll be more than happy to take it off your hands. At least I'll put the money to good use as opposed to Stone turning out yet another turd that you'll be SO embarrassed about, that you'll take SUCH a financial bath over, that only 1 week after it opens you'll already be firing people over it...
-
From the guy who gave us our first emo zombie movie, an emo sci-fi movie. I'm going to go put on Belle & Sebastian and cry myself to sleep.
Oh yeah, and "Bush is too Liberal" is the new "Ged doo da choppah" in my books. -
There are whole forums devoted purely to having these kinds of retarded arguments, ya'll could save a lot of time and effort by going there to vent. This is a movie news and random geek stuff website. Take a sedative mates.
-
Although Harold and Kumar 2 sucks balls for the most part, the scenes with the GWB character are fucking COMIC GOLD.
-
if it means you are using the money to kill, imprison, and/or torture non-white, non-christian people. If, however, you use that money to educate and/or otherwise build up a strong social safety net for poor, working class, and middle class people, then you are a "commie."
Thankfully, finally, the vast majority of the country finally realizes the fallacy here and will be voting accordingly in November. -
Aww hell naw.. That's what I heard from (I think) Access Hollywood, that Stone is considering Newton for the part of Bush's No.1 brownoser. (Chrisssm is No.2)
Sorry but Thandie is just too cute to portray that ugly mess of a "Aunt Tomasina".Instead just cast some aging crackwhore from Brooklyn or newark and have her rehearse lines like "yassa, nosir,Um,ah,oh".That's all to it.
Atleast Colin (Powell) had the sense to walk away from the Bush AdSINistertration.Calling Stone a hack is frivolous as the man earned acclaim from Movies like Wall Street, Born on the fourth of July and especially Platoon. This guy at least served during the 'Nam era, WTF did Bush do?..oh i forgot, he was hiding in some compound or bungalow in the reserve.Bush in that flightsuit is a fucking GI joke BTW.No wonder why so many countries laugh at us, it's obvious that we have a clown for a President. Bush is truly the first affirmative action Prez, not in the sense of his race, but a very unqualified "rich boy" being handed the job via nepotism and not to mention the spin doctoring of(the sinister genius) Karl Rove.If MCCain wins, I'm sure Stone will base a Movie about him although the hanoi Hilton scene will take up to 70 minutes of the Movie. XD -

Anyway, back to my original post before I got sidetracked. This looks like a terrible movie and whatever political side you take I think we can agree that this movie will suck and/or bomb. Come on MorbidObesity, agree with me on this one thing. -

Yeah, sure, the war is "creating an ally" out of Iraq. Except for the fact that our puppet government there can't enforce its own laws. And I'm sure we created a whole lot of allies at Abu Ghraib. // Look, if you can't understand why the libertarians won't support a Trotskyite war to try to export the American Revolution to Iraq, it's really quite simple. Every anti-liberty atrocity the Bush administration has engaged in during this war has not been an accident, it's not been a result of incompetence, and it wouldn't have been different if Bremer hadn't been appointed or if Rumsfeld had resigned later. It hasn't been a matter of personalities, but of the task you've tried to undertake. In order to get the Iraqis to allow you to turn them into an ally, you have to force them to obey. Against an asymmetric enemy, that means you have to kick down doors looking for IED factories, you have to drag people in for questioning based on tips from informers, you have to shoot kids in the street by mistake, you have to spy on everyone and everything. To keep up flagging support at home for a non-defensive war, you have to demonize your domestic opponents, you have to dehumanize the enemy, you have to "manage the news cycle", you have to create Petraeus villages - oops, sorry, Potemkin villages - to show progress, you have to corrupt your own legal system, you have to grind your volunteer army into the ground and shed NCO's and junior officers, you have to try to shame or bribe your allies into helping you, you have to do ALL OF IT. And if by some miracle you find the pony in Iraq and create an "ally", you will have no way of knowing if that ally will still be your ally after its first election following the withdrawal of your troops. It might be Iran's ally instead. So all of your costs are certain, and your benefit might never arrive, and might not stay even if it does arrive. A lot of you look at the example of Japan and say, "Look, it can be done!" But Japan may be the accident here and not the template. [Germany is not a good example for many reasons.] It is about 1000 times as likely that Iraq will be South Viet Nam as it is that it will be Japan.

a couple of points- 1)You have to earn the right to abuse BSB by calling him Brokeback/ Brokedick. To do so, please post something intelligent, preferably in the form of a reasonably constructed argument containing one or 2 original insults. If you can keep this up for a decent amount of time then you can argue/ swear at him for as long as you like. 2) Spamming titles does not make you clever, nor indeed will it ever hep you grow a penis. Let alone entice a woman to let you near her with said newly grown useless appendage. 3)Stealing other people's lines for spam posts just confirms what a drippy little whore you are. Give it up ccchhhrrriiisssm. They will never get it. Most of the liberals here haven't a clue. They know nothing about what is going on in the world. Most of them probably couldn't find Iraq on a world map. All they know about politics is what they hear from far left nuts in the media. If they ever actually took the time to try and understand the big picture they would just get more confused than they already are. In short, they aren't very bright.
Sometimes I think it would be great to be so blissfully ignorant of the world outside video games and sound bites from misinformed celebrities. I envy them.

that's not very nice. Is that how you take the higher ground? Fucking British people...

I could say the same when I first saw your TB handle months ago. Always laugh at that line when that episode airs.

Jarv, isn't there some British TB's you can go troll? Maybe a "fix my teeth" thread, or a "Princess Di's last rimjob video revealed"? -
You give yourself far to much credit.
Bush running our country in to the shytter is what inspires this emotion.
Your no more relevant than that old bigot still defending Nixon. -
All I have to say is, If you're a conservative, a real conservative, (not a neocon bootlicker), and you're feeling conflicted about Bush and the Iraq war, just remember there's another way to look at this.
The most frustrating thing for me is reading an otherwise rational, fair-minded post that is just screaming with that internal struggle- you know the one- when your values are totally at odds with what you can see with your own eyes. Bush does not represent conservative American values. He represents a rogue, radical element of conservatism that is no longer conservative at all. The neocons are an extremist group, the equivalent of the radical left, and just as loony.
I lean conservative in most things, although I won't ever completely align myself with any predetermined ideology, (I'd rather think for myself) these days I consistently find myself agreeing with liberals when it comes to the Iraq war. Not all liberals, mind you, but Fluffy's posts have been particularly correct. I'd rather agree with my conservative brethren, to be honest, but these days, even the smart conservatives seem to be twisting themselves into increasingly painful-looking intellectual pretzels in order to accommodate the pretense that we're not failing in Iraq in every way that matters.
I'm just here to make a suggestion: You can maintain your conservatism and disagree with the war. It's ok. American politics are resilient enough to handle a bit of counter-intuitive creative thinking. In fact, its not really that counter-intuitive, if you take Fluffy's argument about the cost effectiveness of the war. I've tried to justify this occupation a hundred different ways to myself, but nothing ever works. No matter how you slice it, this war is bad for us.
Ultimately conservatives are conservative because they have something to conserve. Well, this war is swiftly stripping us of everything we would want to conserve as a world power, as a beacon of democracy, as a wealthy nation, and as a civilization. It's a mistake, a blunder, a wrong turn. We've made them before, don't worry, our collective manhood won't shrivel up and disappear the instant we admit we're fallible. The test of real strength and resolve now is actually having the balls to own up, take responsibility, and turn this ship around before we smash into the iceberg our 'leaders' and the neo-con punditry (not to mention talkbacker apologists like cchhrriissm) are convinced isn't there. While they're busy re-arranging the deck chairs, we should be taking over the engine room. -
Well said.

I commend Fluffy as well. I kind of miss the Jimmy Carter TB, it had the virtue of a limited amount of spamming.

by hst666
As much as I like baiting the bush defending whackos who post on this site and as much as I believe Oliver Stone is maligned unfairly, I have zero desire to see a flick about Dubya.

I think I'll do that now, finky, thanks for the suggestion.
by samsquanch
Thanks dudes, for the support, although its kind of preaching to the converted with you guys. I'm looking to appeal to guys like Stevie grant, Antonius Bloc, Anchorite, etc. Self-proclaimed conservatives who also have brains.
-
I'm going to have to re-post part of your post in the other "politicized" talkback.
-
Hey, I've stayed out of the polictin' over this. All I've posted in this TB was the site that had the first few pages of the script. And all I've posted on the other W TB was that Slate had a review of the full script... and the news that Uwe Boll has a sadly hilarious taped response to that anti-Uwe petition.
-
do they expect bush's biographers to like the script ? i for one believe the oliver stone version..he def has daddy issues amongst others and i do see him treating the white house as his own personal playground
-
I agree 100%. I actually don't want to align myself with either side because of the inevitable extremists and shoehorning that comes with either. To quote Lewis Black: "What's the difference between a Democrat and a Rebuplican? The Democrat blows and the Republican sucks."
Oh, and Braffed, You didn't inspire anything in me besides an even more profound disappointment in the talkbackers. I was just bored and decided to reply. Nice reference with the song, though. That much I'll give you. -
I respect your desire to remain outside. Uwe is way more fun, I'm sure.

I gota pack of sarcasm light.

I guess everyone's passed out drunk or gone home.

And that seals the deal!

While the numbers are UP under Bushes years, It's not by as much as you would think over Clintons years. according to the official stats about 8,000 soldiers died overall under Clinton.

Total deaths are Actually down from the Reagan years.
-
I haven't seen that since Ringy hung up his anorak. BTW that Animalstructure thread was frightening. DO people honestly believe that Nazi's were left wing because they had "socialist" in their name?
-
you don't work, a weekend job, chores for pocket money, or a paper round do not count as employment. You would be still at school if you hadn't been excluded for eating "peanut butter" from your own arse.
-
Jarvy...seriously, if it takes you more than 6 hours to try and give me a comeback, just don't bother. It's embarrassing for both of us.
-
It's well known that I post at work in a DIFFERENT FUCKING TIME ZONE. I can now just say "wow, is it takes you more than 4 hours to try to give me a comeback, just don't bother" Cretin.
-
What did you expect Jarv?
-
Well, there goes my plan on being last...
-
50 paternity tests and still haven't found his father. But it's fun watch his mom run around the studio crying.

Sorry Jerry

JARV - IS MURDER-SET-PIECES REALLY BANNED IN ENGLAND?
by bringingsexyback
That trailer made me want to vomit.
-
but I doubt it. The BBFC has become toothless lately. And another thing Braffed- as you note, I'm British. I'll just tell you why the American Election is a topic of conversation at Casa del Jarv. My wife and a lot of her friends are ex-pat Americans. They are deeply sick of being labelled fat and stupid (something that is palpably untrue) by the British for being American. When they say it is untrue, people just say "well you voted for Bush. Twice". This election and this president are matters of supreme importance to them- and therefore, although I am a humble movie geek I am vastly better informed than most of the British population. Simple really.
-
I've been recently very horrified by the antics of those on the far right (you know who you are). Can you please apply one modicum of intellect and never, ever use the phrase "fascist left" again. It is ridiculously oxymoronic and not only devalues the term fascist, but is a complete fucking misnomer. If you want to apply a term, then please use "Totalitarian Left". For example, Nazi's were not on the left, although they did have Socialism in their name. The label is irrelevant. AnimalBraneBalls is easily identifiable as a loathsome subhuman monster no matter how many times he changes his handle. Think about this.If any of you use the phrase "fascist left" again, or attempt to paint the Nazi's as left wing then I will be forced to administer a TB spanking to you for being cretinous fools that do not deserve the right to vote. Thank you for your patience.
-
stay out of American Politics. No one really cares what a Brit has to say on the subject. That's the whole reason why we left and kicked your ass in the Revolutionary War.
-
I'm an interested observer. My wife is involved (as in voting- and it's a crying shame that her vote is only worth the same as someone with such obvious cereberal limits as you). Is this that hard for you to grasp. Cunt.
-
which is a vast improvement. You're starting to know your place. BTW- cocknocker, you have to try a lot harder to rile me than to bring up our colonial past. I'm English, we hear that frequently and it is fucking easy to ignore,
-
LAST!!! LAST!!! GODDAMMIT WHY WON'T THIS THREAD DIE!!!
-
Obviously, I've already riled you based on the "fucking twat" subject line. So, unless you want me to sink to that level, I suggest you pull out now before I am forced to start getting really nasty. Can you grasp that?
-
punk.
-
that is just me default response to anything posted under your name.
-
"before I am forced to start getting really nasty."and what precisely are you actually going to do to me? Use harsh language? Beat me up? Thought not.
-
you have 3 minutes to come back, else I'l have to read it tomorrow.
-
pop one off on your wife's chest for me!
-
Run for the hills everyone, the drippy little whore is going to get "nasty"!
