Ahoy, squirts! Quint. Denzel Washington has the lead in the new Robert Ludlum (BOURNE series) big screen adaptation, THE MATARESE CIRCLE. It's going around Hollywood right now as a package deal and attractive package it is, too. (Yeah, I know that was poor wording).

Denzel Washington stars, Lorenzo Di Bonaventura and Nick Wechsler are producing and Micahel Brandt and Derek Haas (3:10 TO YUMA) are adapting. Here's the plot rundown from Hollywood Reporter:

The project, "The Matarese Circle," revolves around two secret agents -- an American and a Russian -- who must work together to fight a mysterious group of killers known as the Matarese. The twist: The agents, Bradley Scofield and Vasili Taleniekov, have been nemeses for years, with each responsible for killing someone close to the other.

Denzel would play Scofield, of course. The studios have all heard the pitch and some are reportedly considering it, but no deal has yet been struck.
