Jennifer And David Lynch Bring Us SURVEILLANCE!!

Published at:  Apr 02, 2008 9:16:09 AM CDT

Merrick here...

Here's a creepy-ass trailer for a creepy-ass looking movie called SURVEILLANCE. This is not to be confused with the 2006 film called SURVEILLANCE, or last year's SURVEILLANCE out of Hong Kong. Wonder what 2009's or 2010's SURVEILLANCE will be about?

This is written & directed by Jennifer Lynch (BOXING HELENA), and is produced by David Lynch (her father). Not sure wazzup with an American release at this time (it'll be handled by Arclight Films).

The film stars Bill Pullman, French Stewart, Julia Ormond, the great Michael Ironside (am I the only person in the universe who thought he was a kick-ass captain in the final season of SEAQUEST?) and Cheri Oteri (the SNL girl?)

Not sure if it's good or not. But it's certainly interesting. Michael Ironside rules. SeaQuest kind of went like a backwards Trek. It started with Picard (Scheider), then went to Kirk (Ironside).

The First YouTube Commenter Says It All

    by aquatarkusman

"From the looks of this trailer it's no wonder Jennifer Lynch has stayed out of the spotlight for the past 15 years. This looks like dozens of other 'straight to video serial killer thrillers' that flood the shelves of every video store. If this film gets any theatrical release whatsoever, it's simply because her dad is David Lynch, otherwise you will probably be able to rent this at Blockbuster very soon."

You pimpin' the comment because you wrote it? Either way, it's more of a case of people putting the younger Lynch in crosshairs because she is David's daughter than her only getting the film made because she's David's daughter. Love how people decide they already know how good a movie is by watching a two minute trailer, especially one that is ambiguous by design as this one is. Whatever, keep convincing yourselves that you know everything before taking the effort to actually develop an informed opinion.

    Michael Ironsides...

    by _maltheus_

...needs to be a major recurring villain on some TV show, Al Swearingen style. I was just wondering, the other day, what happened to him and why hasn't someone better exploited him.
As for Lynch, I was once a big fan, but I think he lost it. Some get better with age, some get worse. That's just the way it is. Look at Joe Stracynski from B5 S5 on. Look at Lucas and Spielberg. Some blow their load at an early age and Lynch is one of them. Don't know about his daughter though.
