Will Brad Pitt Go In Search Of THE LOST CITY OF Z??

Merrick here...
Paramount has nabbed a manuscript by David Grann about a search for a lost city in the Amazon. The idea is for Brad Pitt to produce the film, in which he'd potentially star.
Grann's forthcoming nonfiction book concerns British explorer Col. Percy Harrison Fawcett, who was attempting to find the so-called City of Z when he and his party disappeared in 1925. Over the next 70 years, scores of explorers tried and failed to retrace Fawcett's path, including a 1996 expedition of Brazilian adventurers. Pitt would play Fawcett.
...says THIS ARTICLE in Variety. Grann has expanded his 2005 New Yorker article [FIND IT HERE] into a book that'll be published in February. -- snorts derisively -- Indiana Jones wouldn't have gotten lost in the Amazon...

    Sick of Zombies

    by SKULL1138

Its a stupid idea that's been taken too far, its a scientific impossibility for a human body to move about and do things once ist dead, the brain stosp workingm therefore so do all motor functions, the muscles freeze and the body goes septic, all the blood would be in the ankles of every Zombie.
Stupid, idea for a low rent horror movie thats become something bigger for no reason.
Ok...a few thousand Zombies appear ina city and start killing people and infection spreads. Army move in and shoot the fuck out them all with a mini gun and some M16's, no more Zombie problem, anyone think this would not happen. 28 days later is the only actual plausible way I have ever seen this done.
No more Zombie movies please, Zombie computer games like Resi 5 and Dead Rising 2, please bring on more, because there is nothing as satisfying as mowing down hundreds of Zombies, but its boring on film.
They should rename it Brad Pitt versus the Zombies, thats the kind of title that Zombie movies should have.
Although if there is a book and its worth a read, I will give it a shot...Is it worth reading?

  • April 1, 2008, 10:13 a.m. CST

So 28 days later is plausible because?

    by fractureJonze

Because you've got your running zombies? If you read the book they actually explain why modern army tactics and technology might not work against a zombie horde.

really really good, its a very realistic portrayal of a zombie invasion told from various perspectives around the world, it would make an awesome movie too. High recommend it. And as for all the Brad Pitt hate, um let's see, Jesse James was incredible and my personal best film last year, he's also in the cohen's next film and malick's next film so...dont really get the hate, not to mention um seven and fight club

I'm not saying he hasn't been in good films,

    by skimn

or hasn't been good, its just that unless he's paired with a strong co-star or part of an ensemble, he is not a guarantee of box office. His good films..Jesse James, Babel, Fight Club, have died at the box office, while the "popcorn" flicks (Mr. and Mrs. Smith, The Oceans) have made money.

you know why those good movies of his died at the box office? because they were above the average slack jawed movie goer's level of intellect and/or they were poorly marketed, Pitt takes risks and works with visionary director's and as a result his films dont always make bank but at least they are interesting and which is more important? Money to the studio suits, interesting, unique and quality to us

Pitt doesn't get his credit just cause he's so pretty

    by password.swordfish

Seriously, the man can totally act. People have already listed the movies he was good in. And gotham_night, if you didn't like Seven, Fight Club, Snatch, True Romance, or Jesse James, what are you doing on a movie talkback? Go watch Epic Movie, or whatever shit you think is good. And a big thank you to SpawnofAchilles for pointing out the main reason I'll see his movies... Pitt's out to try new and daring things; he takes serious risks with some the characters he chooses, and the more conventional ones... did I mention he's pretty?

  • April 1, 2008, 8:10 p.m. CST

    Nabster please watch Jesse James

    Based On True Story

    by Horatio_Rastapopulous

This is partially based on an account that is believed to be genuine about some Portuguese sailors in the 1700's who straggled out of the Brazilian jungles after 10 years of being lost and may have actually found a ruined city. In 1925, Fawcett and company had heard these stories and others about a city he called "Z" and went looking but never came back. Check out the link if you want to, it's an interesting read if you're into archaeology and lost cities and such:

    28 days wasn't a zombie film

    by Maniaq

which is probably why I like it better than all the "other" zombie films. It was an interesting twist on the premise - they weren't dead, you could kill em, but "rage" was highly infectious...
Brad Pitt's been in good films - like, say 12 Monkeys - but his acting is VERY limited!
He tends to always stick to the same schtick - like, say 12 Monkeys...

  • April 2, 2008, 3:35 a.m. CST

    by SKULL1138

I already said I ahve not read the book, igf its good I might give ita shot, if it explains thinsg well, then so be it.
The reason I said 28 days later was plausible is simple, the 2Zombies" are not undead, they are normal humans with a virus that makes them uncontrollably aggressive, thats not areally Zombie, my statement on the implausability of real "Zombies" stands, its a stupid fucking idea.
But I love a good book, so will give that one a shot.
Pitt, yeah I loved him in True Romance, Fight Club, Seven (Ok, freeman was star), but I hate a lot of the stuff he has done since, I think he has become a joke figure almost, and in no way does he entice me to go see a movie anymore, whereas a few years ago I wanted to see things he was in, because he was interesting.
Ta Ta

choices. 12 Monkeys is one of my favorite performances of his. I was just thinking of his status as a "movie star". He must be one of the best known "stars", who's films generally underperform. I just find that ironic, and not a slam on Pitt or his career.
