    by darth bauer

McShane is a great actor, but I want him to play Swearengen in everything he gets hired for from now on. I don't care if it's a comedy, romance. or talk show.

    by kdoc13

I know its juvenile, but Ian McShane swearing on Deadwood used to crack me up! I can't wait to hear King David drop the C-bomb on a regular basis! I just hope we can get a movie with him and Samuel Jackson. The word "Motherfucker" will be taken to new heights.

    by nudeandaroused

Is finished. A great series while it was on. Probably one of the more realistic westerns. It is done. I really think it went out on top. McShane has always been a solid actor, I hope this role does him well.

    Lovejoy

    by pandas-r-us

Am I wrong to have really enjoyed the old Lovejoy series, especially series 1? That was feel-good telly right there. Also, the time his main rival's daughter bobbed up out of the pool in the nack was quite an influence in my formative years.

    More Jewish Mafia tv.

    by evilwizardglick

Here we go again. The tiny Jewish minority in the Us has yet ANOTHER Jewish centric show. Isn't it bad enough that there are more Jews on Tv than Blacks and Hispanics? That those Blacks and Hispanics are primarily criminals.

    JAGUART, I agree

    by aversiontherapy2

McShane's Swearengen was incredible, he inhabited that character absolutely. In real life he's quite a 'luvie' (as we Brits say) which makes the portrayal even more impressive imho.

Oh my God! You've opened my eyes to the International Jewish Conspiracy! I was wondering why the US supports Israel! Have you read the "Protocols of the Elders of Zion"? It's a great beach read.

    Lovejoy was fantastic--McShane is great!

    by kevred

Pandas-R-Us, no need to apologize--I'm also a big fan of Lovejoy, unapologetically. It was charming, sly, sweet, and smart, and is still refreshing to watch to this day. (Thank goodness for the took-way-too-long American DVD sets that finally started emerging last year.)McShane will always be underrated here, but I always enjoy watching his work. If this new show is as smart as he deserves, it'll probably be too good for the average dumb American, but maybe some wicked fun while it lasts.

So it's a less-funny version of Joseph Heller's "God Knows?"

    by filmicdrummer17

If you haven't read that book, you should. From the author of Catch-22. It's basically King David's memoir.

    by crichtonastronut

A&E. Is it showing anywhere now. Swearengen is a work of genius iconic and sublime. And I'd love to see Al kickin ass Old Testament style. Really to bad this isn't on HBO. It'd like Rome with the fucking thing Rome was missing Al fucking Swearengen. McShane would have been an awesome Roman general or political leader. defintely and awesome ancient King.

    by big jim

If you want to reference his work on a primetime soap and/or '80s tv, you could have said "War & Remembrance".Other casting: Hulk Hogan as Goliath "You'll be sorry you ever messed with the Philistines, brother"

Tv will never be as good as HBO is that we'll never see a blowjob monologue. Unless it's on BigBrother.
