    by bouncy x

now that its official this takes place after the show, i wonder if the movie will end with the x-files unit reactivated once again? i mean we know the FBI gets involved so its possible. and of course this would made the 3rd movie (should it be made) even more x-files-ish. either way, i'm glad its finally coming. now let's use this opportunity to release the first movie on blu-ray with a shitload of extras. :)

Okay, really looking forward to this one, but...

    by kevred

...just as a reaction to the trailer, I don't like how much it appears to be about Billy Connolly. Actually got kind of tired of watching him and that Brent-Spiner-Independence-Day hair, even though it was only a few seconds. Also, I worry that the "epic" scale could distract from the characters we've been waiting so long to see.Don't want to complain too much, though--that's just my initial "focus group" response to this specific trailer.I'm just glad this movie is coming, and I will be seeing it for sure!

but that's Billy's hair, he's always had that look. Is it the Big Yin's fault Brent Spiner had a smiliar look in ID4? You can't change the Big Yin, he's the damn Big Yin! Looking forward to this but only because... the trailer neither added to nor took away from my anticipation. I abandoned X-Files the TV show after season 3 but i really enjoy seasons 1 and parts of two and three and the first movie so i'll be there for this first weekend. The audience is out there!

    by donkingkong

You know, the characters that came in when the series "jumped the shark", are they gonna be mentioned in the movie, or are we just supposed to forget about those characters? Oh and where did Mulder disappear to? Hopefully these loose ends are attended to. I love X-Files but admittedly I stopped watching right about the time Duchovny left the show, so they might have explained those things away in the later episodes.

My god did I laugh at that Brunomac. Excellent point also. Its going to be nice to see a scary movie without teens. Fucking kids. I dont care how it happens Im just glad to see X-Files again. But like many others, Im afraid of a 2 hour tv show. Hope they put some good fx in there. Or good score. Maybe answer 1 or 2 things for the die hards. We all know by now that they suck face. Which is I guess kinda what we are looking for. I like the Alien-Govt. Epic stuff more. But like I said. Just good to see them together again. Id love to eat Scullys red dirt box for one. Lets hope Moulder gets a nice ROMP with her as well.

    Epic?

    by zoltan_abbassid

Come on, are you expecting this to truly be "epic"? This is a MOTW movie, with more focus on the characters. If they did a mytharc movie, well that would be epic almost by definition. It was smart for Carter & Co. to decide to go standalone, because that helps them stay away from the huge scope of stories that always dwarfed the more human stories. I think this will be a nice horror story with established characters we already know and feel for. Could it suck? Sure. But it has less of a chance of sucking with the route they chose.

I want the movie to make $$$ so we get more X-Files. You are right it should be more character and so forth and Im fine with that. Im going to see it I know that. You are also right that we already care for the characters. Its just that when I havent seem them for so long I want to get some tears when ones in trouble for whatever reason or the first time they talk to each other I guess like in the trailer. I dunno well see. I hope it does well but I still am VERY surprised they went this route after such a long absense. You would think they would come back guns ah blazzin. But again, havent seen the movie.

its tv/movies, its sc-fi so i guess they could always find a way or reason to bring him back but last we saw him in the series finale, he got blowed up. they even went as far as showing the fireball reducing him to a skeleton so reincarnation/cloning aside, i think he's gone and as much as i love the character, it be stupid to bring him back after that.

    by master bruce

the series ended w/Mulder & Scully on the run from the government, their child placed into adoption, CSM & The Lone Gunmen dead...how the hell exactly do they make this work again? And where the hell is Skinner? I was a fan of the show from day one & was more loyal to it than Duchovony...I mean, he left the series TWICE for fuck's sake! I look forward to the new movie but @ the same time don't fully get how they're gonna pull it off w/o shit-canning everything they did the last 2 or 3 years of the show. Instead of Fox & Carter kidding themselves that after all this time they can turn this show into a huge tent-pole-summer-popcorn franchise a la PIRATES or SPIDER-MAN, why not just concentrate on making a series of good quality, low-budget thillers for the fans? Fuck worrying about the general audience...'cuz let's face it, unless Gillian & David do THE XXX FILES in this, you're not grossing over a 100 million the first weekend anyway!

CSM and TLG, dead, but not.

    by bswise

It's been awhile, but didn't The Lone Gunmen show up in the bushes towards the end of the series finale when Mulder went to take a leak? Also, anyone who thinks that the CSM is dead, fireballed skeleton and all, was not paying attention to all the cloning and shape-shifting that was going on in this show. I mean, wasn't Mulder once eaten and regurgitated back into form? That and found dead at sea, then buried, then reanimated months later. Jeez, I can't even remember what the cockamamy explanation for that one was.

TLG in the final X-files episode

    by fiester

It was obvious they were only in Mulder imagination as he was seeing dead people talking to him that entire two-part finale. I agree with the poster above: how they write their way out of that and into a MOTW flick is dubious at best--plus it was made very clear that the date for the final alien invasion is in 2012 and Mulder was wanted dead by every government agency in the world.

    by rufferto

were "ghosts" if you can wrap your brain around that or why, alive or dead the Krychek character would help Mulder. I think killing too many people off is what weakened the mythology. Too many of the good ones I mean. It started when the syndicate was fried. People were dropping like flies. Mulder's mother even killed herself. I would like to know what happened to Dogget and Skinner in the five or so years but the rest of them I don't care too much. It's a shame they probably won't show up at all.

    A colonization movie

    by rufferto

Carter actually said he wanted to do that in one of those youtube videos. If that happens I hope it ends there. Another reason why the mythology weakened was the constant need to milk this series for all it's worth. A lot of the big season finales were even thought to be the "final episode" but it continued on so now they leave loose ends expecting to pick it up later. Incidentally it sure took them a loooong time to get the permission to start making movies at all and if this bombs it could probably be the last.

The most over-rated make-it-up-as-you-go popular TV series ever. The most over-rated fan-boy monkey-spanking babe ever. And the last movie was almost The Phantom Menace levels of anti climax. basically this show was never movie material, they didn't even have 3 seasons of solid meaningful material let alone two movies worth! Definitely a die-hard fan-boy weekend flick, it'll blow its wad early and die quicker than a fish out of water which is what it'll seem like next to the likes of this summers genuine potential blockbusters. $70 million max, if they're lucky!

No matter how much we loved Mulder and Scully--and love them we did--what gave the show depth was the sense of an ensemble. Pileggi was crucial to the show's tension. And I was *pissed* off when Duchovny left, but Patrick completely won me over as Doggett and made me want to watch the show again in a new way. Here's my hope that they'll be the surprise gift in this movie, or in the next one...

Oh, and I don't have anything against Connolly.

    by kevred

My earlier comment might have made it seem so, but I don't. I like him, actually. It's just that, after all these years, I didn't want my first glimpse of the X-Files to be dominated by a ridiculous-looking set piece (was that a Glass Tiger video?) with old Bill crawling around. And he may have had that hair for a while, but not always. I remember that silly sitcom he starred in many years back (played a teacher) and he had much shorter hair.

Bollocks. I was looking forward to that. First one looked awesome. Still, I'd beat an old lady with a tire-iron to see this now.

Hardly. It means I have standards. That is all. Never have liked the character, or the actress. If there are those out there who get their jollys over this woman, then have fun.

I'm not going to waste my time hurling insults at you but rather ask, in a civil tone, that you show some class. I understand your antics are all about getting a reaction and you've gotten it so move on. Pretty please.

I didn't pay attention to the time posted. Regardless, your comments were tacky; Absolutely no need for them.

    This trailer is LAME

    by stamper

Come on, I can't belive anyone would issue a trailer with nothing in it, some shots of Scully turning around to give the feeling a lot is happening in this TV movie for theaters, some guys wanking in the snow, Mulder making a pun about the truth... this is obviously a trailers made for the nerds to scream at the end of the emptiness, there's not one single exciting shot in this trailer. This X Files thing is old and needs to stop, or be rebooted with more emphasis on Gillian Anderson breasts. And lots of SEX, VIOLENCE, SHOOTINGS, Explosions, you know, some heterosexual entertainment rather than some asexual one for an asexual audience.
