Evil Dick Returns To BIG BROTHER And Leads Into CBS’ Last JERICHO Ever!!

Published at:  Mar 25, 2008 12:52:46 AM CDT

SPOILER ALERT !!

I am – Hercules!!

Memorable “Big Brother 8” winner Dick Donato returns to CBS Tuesday to host a pivotal veto competition.

The stunt is followed at 10 p.m. by the series finale of “Jericho.”

So is there anything to learn with the “Jericho” finale? It won’t tell us what happens when the colonists reach Earth and it won't explain why Lex doesn’t recognize Clark without his glasses. Nor will it reveal why Dharma island hates the pregnant or why smokezilla can’t hop the fence surrounding Otherton.

Perhaps we’ll learn Daniel Benzali’s character not only masterminded the decimation of Iran, North Korea and the United States but is also a hideous extraterrestrial lizard with a taste for human flesh!

“Jericho” showrunner Carol Barbee says the franchise could live on in some form, according to scifiwire.com:

If Jericho is not picked up for another season by a TV network, Barbee said that she could envision it living on in some other form. "There's definitely an Internet series to be had, and we always talked about a graphic novel, and ... a movie," Barbee said. "I mean, there are lots of things that I could easily see as a way to continue the story."

Take up valuable bandwidth with your predictions and reactions.

“Big Brother”: 9 p.m. Tuesday. CBS.

Jericho: So this week's episode won't wrap things up...

    by prof. pop-cult

I have a bad feeling this week's episode won't wrap things up satisfyingly at all, despite the fact that CBS ordered two different endings to be shot. I think Carol Barbee should let this one go -- there just does not seem to be much demand for Jericho, especially in the "lesser" mediums (comic books and the Internet).

If they had a deal to take it elsewhere...

    by bill clay

...they would have announced it by now. I'll miss Jericho, but no more nuts for me.

    by snowpuff

    And your point being..?

They didn't say they have a deal to take it elsewhere yet. So why would they have announced something they don't have?

Maybe they would announced that they're looking to move the show to cable... oh wait, that's what they did.

They can't take Jericho elsewhere -- CBS owns it.

    by prof. pop-cult

Unless another network on cable is willing to pay for the production of a series that they do not own, this is highly unlikely. The only possibility that comes to my mind is DirecTV, but they are already flipping the bill for Friday Night Lights season 3.

Cheilsa is a fucking skank! I didn't think any-

    by gqtaste

anybody would give Josh a run for his money in the scumbag factor but Cheilsa is trying her best to win first prize. Talk about a sore loser. It's funny, that she gave Matty shit for crying the week of his eviction. Now it's her turn and she went way over simply tears. The things she's said to Nat., who bytheway, I"m no fan of, deserves an asswhoppin'. Cheilsa calling Nat. white trash is calling the kettle. And i'm not buying the fact that shes' twenty one years of age. She's going to have her plate full when she finds out about James' past, w/ the gay porn. Not to mention the reality of her going back into the "real world." Bascically, she's the lowest of the low. And a pathetic loser.

The only way for Jericho to end

    by the selecter

is with a town block party. They can have self-roasting marshmallows from the radiation emanating from the remains of Cheyenne, and the natural atmospheric glow will be a redux of the fireworks display from the episode with the fake Marines. Plenty of booze to go around, with margaritas topped with salt from Skylar's salt mine. It ends in spectacular fashion with Hawkins and his daughter skipping town after spiking the feast with poison to cover their tracks.

guess it's just you and me Herc...

    by maniaq

Actually now that I think about it, this series reminded me a lot of The Postman (the excellent book by David Brin, not the cheesy film by Kevin Costner) - and of course there's a story which proved pretty damn unpopular, huh?
Guess the Yanks don't want to hear any stories post-apocalypse at the moment.
The post-apocalyptic genre died in the arse in the early eighties - the "Greed Is Good" decade - when a booming global economy meant nobody wanted to hear "doom and gloom" because they were too busy partying like it's 1999...
Interestingly, one of the highlights of this series (for me anyway) has been their nod to "Bartertown" from the last Mad Max film.
Anyway, with many already describing the US economy as "in Recession" and the rest of us poised, waiting to see if the country may crumple into full-blown Depression and maybe take us all with it - are we not ready yet for a revival of this genre?
Not if the latest Resident Evil film is any indicator...

  • the finale will open with Skeet talking to a shrink about a woman strangling her chicken. But, oh my god, it turns out later it was her child!

But he will return to wise-cracking form soon enough and he and BJ, Klinger, Radar, that posh guy and Hotlips all live happily ever after. The end.

It wasn't a bad conclusion, and still leaves it open ended somewhat if they wanted to continue with the Civil War angle.

  • And Have the legit US government forces nuke the city, as Wright makes a "Not God Bless America, God D### America---" Speech, with Obama Chuckling in the background. For the first time in her life, Michelle Obama will be proud to be an American. Cut to shots of the patriotic legitimate American cities celebrating as the mushroom cloud rises, fade to black.

a comeback. Time did an article on it a few months back, using Jericho, I am Legend, Cloverfield as examples, as well as well-received books The Road (which I just finished) and The World Without Us (which I just started).

    Novelizations

    by snowpuff

I don't usually go for books that continue shows after they're off the air, but Jericho could be a great series of books if you got someone like Harry Turtledove to carry the torch.

Hint to CBS: This wouldn't cost you anything. Or at least very little. Bring on the second civil war!
