Amy Sherman-Palladino never should have left GG

    by desmond1918

Staying with Gilmore Girls would have been much better than making this failure. Then we wouldn't have been stuck with that shitty final season of GG.

But man this show just sucked. I'd like to see the two of them together in another series concept, however.

Isn't Bones already CSI-meets-Gilmore Girls (the chatty cute-speak walk-n-talk style)?

damn near impossible to watch. After stuff like The Office & 30 Rock...it's difficult watching multi-camera/canned laughter comedies.

The speed of this cancellation is hardly surprising...

    by sledge hammer

...given that it's one of the worst rating new shows that Fox has ever had. Nothing was gonna save this one. And deservingly so, it was fucking awful.

    There's a lot of talk...

    by napoleon park

...about how the broadcast networks are working outside of the traditional television season constraints. Still, if you read a list of new shows during the spring up fronts or in the Fall TV Guide new show preview issue and then the show actually debuts in late winter BETWEEN key sweeps periods, you know the network doesn't have much faith in it. I'm talking about you, Unhitched, New Amsterdam, Canterbury's Law. Oh, hi, Eli Stone. Yeah, you too.

    What about live-action Peanuts?

    by calico pete

Why doesn't Fox put on something like that, hmm? Find some CG-enhanced giant-headed kids and a piano-playing dog. Shouldn't be that difficult. Guaranteed hit with the elusive 8- 23 y.o. insane demographic.

Jezebel James probably won't even get a DVD release. Hope Lauren Ambrose moves on to something worthwhile and not some shitty J-horror movie or remake.

    Alan Ball's Latest

    by raromo

My understanding is they've now shot four episodes, and the series will debut this fall. HBO was showing a couple of scenes from the new series in its promos a few weeks ago. Agree with MCPot-- Ambrose is an incredible actress who deserves better material.

Why can The Paladino's do anything new that was as (overall) brilliant as "Gilmore Girls" ? Looks like they're destined to be one-hit wonders. Pity, that ... really. That is all.

    Her hanger-on of a husband

    by tbane

I'd bet a lot of money that this show was like so many of the worst GG episodes in that her coattail riding husband was responsible. It could also be that they just gave up because of some disagreement with Fox, but it was just plain awful.

    The laugh track confused me.

    by fart_master_flex

The look of the show didn't even seem like a multi-camera show. It actually looked like a single camera sitcom with canned laughter thrown in in post-production. I wonder who's call it was to add it in.

I think the show was pretty awful but the laugh track made it even worse than it was.

I love Parker Posey though. Party Girl is an all time favorite film of mine.

The sad thing is, you can see how it MIGHT have worked...

Why this show was even mentioned on this site is beyond me. Do people outside the world of having a vagaina wanted to or did watch this or Gilmore Girls? If so do girls actually read this site?

    The Laugh Track Indeed...

    by micturatingbenjamin

The network people need to realize that the laugh track is a vestigial organ of televised trickery that the viewing audience has come to see right through. Live audiences are golden, especially with dodgy hit or miss comedies like 'Jezebel James'. This is a show that had too much going for it, but proves that the creator of Gilmore Girls was just a flash in the pan. Nice try, but this show didn't catch lightning in a bottle again...Parker Posey was AMAZINGLY funny in 'The House of Yes'.

    Lauren Ambrose

    by hockey2112

I finished watching Six Feet Under for the first time on DVD two days before I started watching Jezebel James. Because of that, I constantly interpreted Lauren Ambrose's Jezebel James character's "stupidity and cluelesness" as "Claire Fischer being a smart-ass". I just couldn't separate the two characters in my mind, and therefore her JJ performace didn't make sense to me. :)

    Amy Palladino is overrated!

    by penetron

She should've kept her job as a hostess at the local rib joint where I banged her in the stockroom. I miss my high school days. She wouldn't shut up then either. That's why God gave men penises. To stick it in yappy broads mouths.
