Is This Some Funky Viral Marketing For TERMINATOR?? Probably Relating To SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES??

Published at:  Mar 21, 2008 9:42:57 AM CDT

Merrick here...

Okay, first off, this has evidently been going on for several weeks now. I'd heard nothing about it until a reader called o'dium sent a message to us this morning.

If this is "old news" to you...my apologies. If this is new information (which I suspect it will be to most folks), then...have fun.

Here's what o'dium had to say:

I'm sure you guys are as big a fan as me on the Terminator films. The Terminator was an awesome classic, and Terminator 2 was just pure gold. I wont mention Terminator 3, *cough*, although I did enjoy the new series.

Anyway, I stumbled over something rather strange. Its a website for a company called EniTech, who have back engineered some technology that allows them to take pictures of the present, only have the image be of the future. A bit strange of course, because if this was real I have a feeling it would be all over the news. But that's not the best bit. Check out the videos on the site, documenting everything... Holy shit! Lets just say I had the volume up far to loud on the last video and it seriously made me grin :)

CLICK HERE TO JUMP TO ENITECH LABS!!!

So I did some digging, as there's a belief out there that this campaign may be linked to the new TERMINATOR feature film & that didn't feel quite right. When all was said and done, signs pointed to this being tied into the TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES television series instead.

Of course...the conclusion could be based on a great deal of assumption, and this might relate to the new movie after all.

I think SARAH CONNOR and TERMINATOR 4 can co-exit nicely, but The Powers That Be may want to make each title's branding a bit more distinct. With marketing like this, matters could get confusing very quickly.

While no word has come down regarding whether SARAH CONNOR will be back for a second season...there's some indication that it will return...and launching a viral campaign so close to the first season's finale would seem to bolster that notion.

If you know more, or can conjecture more, post it in the Talkbacks below...or feel free to DROP ME A LINE!!!

And, by the way, check out this real world robot:

These guys don't watch much science fiction, do they? Probably not a good idea to be kicking a robot like that...

I hope Sarah Connor Chronicles makes it back to my television screen this fall. It's not perfect by any means, but it sure beats the crap out of all this other excrement on tv like Survivor, American Idol, Dancing with the Stars, Truth or Dare (or whatever the hell that piece of shit is called) and Super Nanny.

First, yeah T3 wasnt all that great, but its better than the new show. That being said I dont get the complete hate on T3 and the big love of SCC, but to each his own. As for T4, despite the involvement of Bale (which is giving people hope that its not going to blow goat) I'm betting its still gonna blow goat. Lastly that 'pack-mule' robot was cool as hell and yet very very disturbing.

It was hands down the best new show on TV next to, I hate to say it as much I can't stand its creator, REAPER. It was actually better than LOST has been this past season. I can't imagine it won't be back for at least two to three more seasons. Look how long ALIAS was around. This is a similar show, budget wise.

    by arcadiands

in case you guys cant load the site.
also they are some of the WORST acting I've ever seen, even by YOUTUBE standards. In one vid, they show us a 'future photograph' of a newspaper vending machine and it clearly shows a headline from the future. Then they show us a future photograph of a major city totally nuked and what is their response? "well we're still analyzing this photo" and "we'll be sure to get back to you when we can analize this more" and the stupid IT nerd in the back says "oh no, this system tells me that the data is totally way accurate and whatnot"
And they're all matter-of-fact, monotone, and talking like even THEY know the video is just bad. It ends by saying, 'well we're still not sure what this image really means, but we'll be back again soon bye now."
This makes the lonelygirl videos look like Citizen Kane.

Also, the terminator in the clip is not the one who lost his skin and got blown up in the TV show but another one. The site has a blog posting from a resistence fighter who said that terminator lost his skin in a fire battle and is now targeting the Enitech team.. I have been reading all the blogs.. It's a safe bet that at least some of the comments below each of the Enitech videos are 'plants.' Faked up to start and add credibility to a debate about it. It's also a safe bet that there are a bunch of dim bulbs out there that bought into it as real.
As far as the movies and television series, I've always admired T1 and T2 as a great overall story that didn't need any more sequels. I saw T3 only once and thought it sucked less than I expected it to. I'll want to see it again to really decide about it. The TSCC series has far surpassed my expectations. The story has me caring about how things will unfold. I like the casting, too. Yes, even B.A.G. Those of you who say he's ruined TSCC for you... well, serves you right for watching 90210 in the first place.

I doubt DARPA tech is 10 years ahead...

Seriously, does the Pentagon have secret semiconductor fab plants built underground churning out 5nm 100-core microprocessors and PC10000 RAM to boot? We're talking about the same US government that let American memory chip companies like Micron get hammered by the Japanese and Koreans and their subsidies and price fixing behavior simply because the US government nixed the IBM sponsored scheme to create the "US Memories" consortium back in the late 80s. If the US government had any design on being years ahead of the industry, it would have never allowed Intel to gain such a foothold on the industry because their chips blew compared to what Motorola offered prior to the Intel Core processor family 4 years ago. The Motorola 680x0 family of processors blew away the 8088, 8086, 80286, 80386, and the 80486, and that's from a family of chips that debuted in 1979. Intel's 8088 was designed to run Coke vending machines, not powerful computers...and that's what the industry got stuck around, all because the morons at IBM declared that the 68000 was too powerful for simple business tasks that the IBM PC was meant for. Their PC engineers are a pox upon the industry when one considers that the deceased Jay Miner, father of the Atari 2600 and the 400/800 computers, quit Atari because management did not want to fund him developing a computer based upon the 68000; he later went on to create the Amiga, which like the Apple Mac and the Atari ST, were all based upon the very 68000 chip at their debuts. Continuing, the Pentagon gets hacked by Chinese script kiddies on a daily basis, thus again, I doubt DARPA is 10 years ahead even if it is not running their shop on Microsoft software [which the Pentagon is; the NSA uses a lot of BSD, thankfully].

90% cool ideaexecuted at 60%One of many problems with it. Ya know, if you're gonna yell out in terror, then yell out in terror. Don't hold back like you're afraid you'll blow out the mic. That just makes for a shitty performance.
