BURBANK, CA, (March 19, 2008) – Kevin Conroy, the bench m ark by which fans co m pare all Batman voices, returns to the title role in Batman Gotham Knight, the third release in the DC Universe Ani m ated Original Movie series fro m DC Co m ics, Warner Pre m iere, Warner Ho m e Video and Warner Bros. Batman Gotham Knight is a fresh and exciting new entry into the Bat m an m ythos, spinning out of a 40-year history in ani m ation including the E m m y®-winning Batman: The Animated Series, widely considered a pivotal m o m ent in A m erican ani m ation. A cross section of distinguished creators, award-winning producers, and acclai m ed writers weave six interlocking stories that reveal Bruce Wayne’s journey to The Dark Knight, each with stylish art fro m so m e of the world’s m ost revered ani m ation visionaries.
Conroy set the standard for m odern day Bat m an voices with his perfor m ance in Batman: The Animated Series, The New Adventures of Batman and Robin and The New Batman Superman Adventures. He reprised the role as an aging Bruce Wayne playing m entor to a new Caped Crusader in Batman Beyond. Ani m ation legend and Batman Gotham Knight producer Bruce Ti m m said Conroy was the obvious choice for both widespread fan approval and to provide an overriding sense of continuity within a fil m in which Bat m an appears in so m any new, visual variations.
“Any ti m e we initiate an ani m ated Bat m an project, ‘Will Kevin Conroy voice Bat m an?’ is the first question we hear fro m fans,” said Bruce Ti m m , Executive Producer. “To m eet Kevin is to know that he’s not anything like Bat m an, and yet he m anages to perfectly nail that indefinable ele m ent that is Bat m an. He’s got the voice, he’s got the acting chops, and he’s absolutely the best m an for the job.”
Conroy provided a central, rallying point for a cast that perfectly m eshes stars of so m e of today’s highest rated pri m e ti m e television series with m any of the m ost popular voiceover actors in the business. Gary Dourdan (CSI: Crime Scene Investigation) and Ana Ortiz (Ugly Betty) are heard in m ultiple seg m ents of the six-story fil m as police detectives Crispus Allen and Anna Ra m irez, key m e m bers of a special unit who learn to trust the Dark Knight’s m otives. Par m inder Nagra (ER, Bend It Like Beckham ) supplies the voice of Cassandra, a m ystical Indian wo m an who teaches Bruce Wayne to endure and m anage his pain. David McCallu m (Navy NCIS, The Man From U.N.C.L.E., The Great Escape) takes on the role of loyal servant Alfred. George Newbern (Father of the Bride) and Alanna Ubach (Legally Blonde) also join the cast.
The cast also features popular voice over artists Corey Burton, Rob Paulsen, Kevin Michael Richardson, Will Friedle, Jason Marsden, Ji m Meski m en, Pat Musick, Scott Menville, Hynden Walch, Corey Padnos and Crystal Scales.
Batman Gotham Knight will be available on DVD for $19.98 SRP. There will also be a 2-disc Special Edition DVD available for $29.98 SRP which contains over 100 m inutes of bonus features plus 4 bonus episodes.
