Details Emerge On The CW’s Proposed High School Series Created By VERONICA MARS Mastermind Rob Thomas!!

Published at:  Mar 19, 2008 2:37:10 AM CDT

SPOILER ALERT !!

I am – Hercules!!

The proposed CW sequel to “Beverly Hills 90210” written by “Veronica Mars” creator Rob Thomas will focus on a teen brother and sister with the same last name as David Silver, the original series character played by Brian Austin Green.

Dare we hope that Green – whose post-“90210” career has included recurring roles on “Freddie” and Fox’s new “Terminator” TV series – will prove available for the project?

Daphne Silver hosts her own YouTube series. Max Silver manages his family’s multiplex in Century City.

The series will also feature a jock, a theatre girl, her brainy bad-boy adopted brother and an AV nerd of Middle Eastern descent. Grown-ups include an ex-Olympic athlete and an alcoholic actress who apparently boned a lot of major movie stars 40 years ago.

    I don't know...

    by mr. gunderson

Instinct tells me to trust Mr. Thomas will turn in something brilliant but this just doesn't seem very original. I sincerely hope I am proven wrong.

Please let the olympic has-been be Steve Sanders and the washed up, alcoholic, slut actress be Brenda! I'd watch that show.

i guess if Ron Moore could redeem Galactica 1980

    by newc0253

then the chances of a Rob Thomas-helmed BH 90210 not completely sucking are pretty good.

still a shame that he couldn't find something better to follow VM than a sequel to a Spelling production.

    Middle Eastern AV geek?

    What! No blonde private investigator?

    by photoboy

I mean the CW is basically saying they shouldn't have cancelled Veronica Mars by getting Rob Thomas to make them a new high school drama.

If BAG turns up, he should bring some Terminators, and the alcoholic actress should be played by Harry Hamlin in drag.

    Sounds like South of Nowhere...

    by mr. profit

But at least on South of Nowhere there was a lesbian affair between the main characters Ashley and Spencer. Hopefully Rob Thomas does the impossible and makes this watchable. For it to survive you will need to make it like Degrassi The Next Generation and incorporate 1 or 2 older cast members from the original series.

    newc0253 nailed it!

    by hercules

    Ron Moore : Galactica :: Rob Thomas : 90210.

Kristin Bell rules and rocks, but Cupid and Heroes demonstrate that she was not the key component in Veronica Mars' greatness.

    why the connection

    by johnnysunshine

I'm interested in anything Rob Thomas does, but why does this even have to be a 90210 sequel? I'm sure it could stand alone without having to connect to that awful show. Do teenagers today even remember that 90210?

    by arzbest

Shop it around - FX, Lifetime, Bravo, A & E, - hell, even try Spike! Some network has gotta be interested in this series that comes with a rabid and devoted fan base! Bueller? Bueller?

when this comes out and sucks...

    by crayon

will coax stop referring to Rob Thomas as a "mastermind"? I mean it was good and all, but hardly perfect or mindblowing.. and even if all three seasons just so happened to not be without missteps, surely we could reserve the title "mastermind" for more deserving people working on TV?

Using it for Rob Thomas just kind waters down the whole definition when you want to use it for someone like David Simon or *gasp* Joss Whedon

Just in case it wasn't clear...

    by crayon

I was referring to Veronica Mars in the prior statement. Not Cupid. Or Matchbox 20.
