More Details On A MATTER OF LOAF AND DEATH, The New WALLACE AND GROMIT Project!! Casting, Plot, Etc.!!
Merrick here...
More tidbits have emerged about the BBC's new WALLACE AND GROMIT special, entitled A MATTER OF LOAF AND DEATH (which you can pretty much gather from this article's headline). By the way, this project was previously titled TROUBLE AT MILL.
Seems CORONATION STREET's Sally Lindsay will voice Wallace's love interest in LOAF - a character named Piella Bakewell.

There's evidently a new press release about how Lindsay's casting came about, but I've been unable to track it down.
However, Empire Online cites portions of said release, which I'll duplicate here with full credit to Empire & their article on the matter, which can be found HERE.
The release, via Empire, also reveals the plot of LOAF:
"Wallace and Gromit have a brand new bakery business, ‘Top Bun’. Their whole house has been converted into a granary with a ‘Wallace patent-pending’ old-fashioned windmill on the roof. Although business is booming, Gromit finds himself having to run
the whole operation single-handedly as Wallace is ‘dough-eyed’ in love with the beautiful Piella Bakewell, former star of the Bake-O-Lite bread commercials.
But Gromit is not so enamored of Piella - her ‘woman’s touch’ at 62 West Wallaby Street puts the dog’s nose out of joint. What’s more, a dozen local bakers have disappeared in recent months and Gromit is worried that Wallace may be next. Gromit turns sleuth and the duo soon find themselves drawn into a sinister murder mystery - it’s ‘A Matter Of Loaf And Death’."
No word on when A MATTER OF LOAF AND DEATH will be coming to The States, but it's a safe bet it'll do so soon after it airs on BBC (which I understand should happen later this year).

albeit a lil' bit too similar to A Close Shave.

Were-Rabbit was so underappreciated. I can't wait for this.

I'm guessing that there are two very good reasons.

Gentlemen, we have found the perfect woman.

I can't wait to leave England so I'll never have to flick past another shitty episode of Coronation Street (or Eastenders for that matter) ever again. Even the theme tunes make me depressed. How anyone can watch that tripe is beyond me...

It's clear that Nick Park is just coming up with variations on the same thing. Oh well, it sounds amusing enough. Perhaps it's even worth scripting a few more W&G films and getting Peter Sallis in the studio to voice them before he pops his clogs, tho.

That guy needs a sitcom.

usually its like getting blood out of a stone to get girls in soaps to smile, bloody mardy bunch. doesn't sound feature length JackLint if it airs on the BBC it'll be another 40 minute job like Wrong Trousers and the rest.
-
It'll premiere Christmas Eve.
-
where are you going that's not going to have terrible soaps of it's own? I agree with you, but my solution was to stop watching TV rather than leave the country. :^)Great to get some more Wallace & Grommit, though.

Trying to jump on the Rat movie hype eh?

Look at this. I want to go to the movies and what do I get to choose from:1 Dr. Seuss' Horton Hears a Who! $45.0M
2 10,000 B.C. $16.7M
3 Never Back Down $8.6M
4 College Road Trip $7.8M
5 Vantage Point $5.4M
6 The Bank Job $5.0M
7 Doomsday $4.9M
8 Semi-Pro $3.0M
9 The Other Boleyn Girl $2.8M
10 The Spiderwick Chronicles $2.3M. Fucking assholes. I've already seen Semi Pro on bootleg and actually love it but THAT'S IT??? Fucking Dr Seuss bullshit??? Shoot me in the fucking mouth. Give me Dark Knight, Iron Man, Hulk, and that one with black Downey Jr. NOW. FUCK. -
It is!
-
It should come as no surprise that there is a lull in movies before the summer blockbusters get rolling. And in all honesty, Horton Hears a Who is a good film. Even though it is rated G. Sorry it couldn't be a hard R or PG-13 for you. Also, try going to the movie rental store and picking up some films.

Placing "There's evidently a new press release about how Lindsay's casting came about, but I've been unable to track it down" DIRECTLY under a shot of her lifting a mug of beer like a party girl while showing off two wonderful... uh... "assets" really is the best unintentional, yet utterly hilarious copy placement that's happened here in awhile. Bravo, Merrick!

someone bring this fine Miss Lindsay over for the Oktoberfest. We could watch Shaun the Sheep together.

And they look good!Best pic of Miss Lindsay I've seen yet. Really want a beer about now.

I've seen some good reviews for the Bank Job
