The Full TROPIC THUNDER Trailer Is Now Online And Looks Pretty Damn Cool!!
Merrick here...
Some material from this film went online last week at the movie's official website, but I could never get the footage to load so I'm not sure how this differs...although...I believe this is a full length trailer as opposed to the teaser that was previously available.
And...I think this looks pretty awesome. The trailer gives a good sense of the film's tone, and...above all...hints at the size of the production - which evokes the well-produced, large-scale comedies of old (like THE BLUES BROTHERS and GHOSTBUSTERS).

So the marketing team is assuming that if you like Two and a Half Men, you'll like this. And vice versa. There's no liking one and not the other. It's statistically impossible.

This looks hilarious, hell, even the war footage looked awesome, the helicopter crashing alongside the guy running would look cool in any movie.

the bit when Downey reacts slightly to the other guy's "What do YOU mean by you people??" cracked me up.
And yes, sad news for Anthony Minghella, I wasn't a fan of all his movies but Truly Madly Deeply and Ripley were winners in my book. -

I'm NOT one of these assholes who says things like "I'm glad he's dead", but i WILL say that he didnt make one film even worth watching. English Patient? Cold Mountain? Ripley? snorefests through and through. The only one that is amost watchable is Truy Madly Deeply, and thats just due to Alan Rickman.

Was Hot Shots! Part Deux (which I thought was far superior to the first installment). That movie always will have a special place in my heart for (1) showing Miguel Ferrer how to kill again; and, (2) displaying a kill-meter tally versus other action films.

It's a non-Apatow comedy, which means it should be funny...and not overrated. And won't involve self-indulgent monologues that add nothing to the story save an opportunity for Apatow's cronies to verbally stroke each other's meat and veggies.

...I may end up waiting for the DVD; but this looks like it has potential. I hope it doesn't drag it's jokes out too long like the Austin Powers movies did; as if saying the same dumb thing over and over again will some how make hilarious.
...speaking of which, I predict The Love Guru will not do very well. It looks like Myers is just doing Austin Powers shtick dressed in Maharishi Yogi drag... he even has Verne Troyer in it; and let's face it that is an affront to every floor plant in the world. -

and still an awesome, and vastly underrated Pixar movie. It's all in the execution and I think it'll be good. Downey as a black guy, crazy-ass Nick Nolte, Steve Coogan, wacky cameos...it'll be funny

I like Stiller but I've never had much respect for his (in my opinion) one-note performances in the same way that I respect Robert Fucking Downey Jr. Don't get me wrong, I like Stiller, but he seems to play the same character over and over again and it's not as much fun to watch. At the same time, I've always felt like he wasn't living up to his potential, like he could do more, like it was in him and he needed to get it out. This movie, judging from the advance buzz, to me, is finally his calling card. I hope I'm right and I'm glad to see him surround himself with Jack Black, Downey Fucking Jr., and even Tom Cruise. I also wish that they'd do a movie with Cruise, Downey Jr., and Stiller were cast against type. I'll be in line for this and I'm looking forward to it!

Forgot about his cameo in Extras. He is so good at playing an utter prick.

That was always Coogan. Wilson only had a small cameo in the film and was replaced by Matthew McConaughey, not sure as what though i suspect it might be in one of the trailers where they have a whole bunch of cameos from people like Tobey Maguire apparently

How can you not find this fucking funny? To the people that say they didn't laugh or thought this looks stupid. Yes, it's stupid, we know this. It's not meant to be serious. It's just stupid funny. Cut loose and laugh a little. Why did you even watch the trailer when you know your favorite movie of all time was "On Golden Pond". Go sit down somewhere and get on with dying. This movie is going to be friggen hilarious!

...But the fake movie had more impressive action than the actual movie has laughs. I'm not gonna harp on it too much, since the funniest stuff I've heard about the film isn't in the trailer at all. I don't know wether its good that they are saving the quality for the actual film, or if they cut a trailer with a couple of chuckles rather than a bunch of big jokes.

Holy Christ... if he does not get an Oscar for this than fuggetabout it. He deserves it just from the few moments I seen it. If Depp got nominated for Pirates than Downey deserves it for this. He is a freaking chameleon like someone said. I would never have known it was him. And that voice he is using... where in the name of god did he find that. The man is a genius. Jesus Christ.
