Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. Ah, David Twohy. I recently watched PITCH BLACK when I re-bought it on high-def. It really holds up well for me and is still the best example of Vin Diesel as an action badass. But I do have a wicked soft spot for sci-fi horror.

I need to re-watch THE ARRIVAL. I remember really liking it when it came out and being laughed at for it, but I just recently attended Harlan Ellison's panel at SXSW where he brought it up as a shining example of science fiction filmmaking. If Ellison praises it maybe I wasn't crazy and it's a good movie afterall. Damn, it's been a long time since I've seen it.

Anyway, no one can really defend the mess that is CHRONICLES OF RIDDICK, but I'm glad Twohy's keeping at it. He just hired Steve Zahn to play one of the leads of his new movie, A PERFECT GETAWAY, about a honeymooning couple in Hawaii who meet two hikers who turn out to be horrible killers. Timothy Olyphant is cast as one of the two hikers and Zahn will play the new hubbie.

Twohy wrote the screenplay and will direct starting at the end of the month. Sounds like he's getting back to what I liked the most about PITCH BLACK, a kind of vicious back and forth "run for your life" type thriller. What do you folks think?
