Shat SHIVA!!
Merrick here...
I meant to post this last week and, quite frankly, I forgot to do it.
For a while now, we've been hearing indications that William Shatner would be bringing a comedy called SHIVA CRASHERS (aka THE SHIVA CLUB) to the screen, based on a concept by Shatner. The story is described as "a funny and touching look into the world of comedy, with a Shiva as the setting." Shatner would direct the film.
This project has been in the wind for some time now...disappearing...reappearing....etc. Now comes word that active development/placement of the property is underway.
Discussions are underway with a number of big stars who are interested in participating, as well as a major studio. We will be announcing more details in the coming weeks."
...says THIS INFORMATION at Big Screen Entertainment, the group working with Shatner to bring us the Shiva movie.
While few love STAR TREK V, I personally believe that many of its character moments are among the finest in the franchise. I'd love to see Shatner get a chance to work (as a director) with a character driven piece of this nature.

-
And this movie will suck because he sucks. And that SUCKS!
-
No one disses the Shatner. NO ONE!!
-
C'mon, you know he sucks. He just happened to be on good shows, He's the luckiest suckiest actor working today!
-
2001
-
Or 'sitting Shiva', the Jewish thing? What exactly is the Shiva that is being referred to?
-
Seriously, when I first read it I thought the title was Shat Shia.
-
he should make his own goddam captain kirk movie.
-
except more jewish.
-
I'd buy into, or maybe a full caberet set with musical interludes from the Transformed man, quality! ;-)
-
has a really great moment when Kirk tells Bones and McCoy that he knew he wouldn't die becuase he was not alone. The music by the late Jerry Goldsmith is heartbreaking...

You'r right, dude. Who can forget "Row... row...row... your boat". Finest character moment in the Trek franchise.
-
Shomer fucking shabbas.
-
And why did the writer expect us to know this?
-
Speak.... my name and... gainmypower...
-
When will we get it?
-
It's a good film with great character development... the story's not perfect, but it didn't deserve the drubbing it got from Roddenberry and the fanboys.
-
Thum Shiva Ke Vishwasth Karthe Ho!
-
really, it was a vanity project but was "Star Trek" enough to deserve the title. I fail to understand why so many people bash it while praising the previous entry.
-
Gotta love the Shat.
-
Well, you learn something new everyday. I've never met someone who actually lowered themselves to defend that movie. Defend Shatner by claiming that Paramount prevented him from doing what he wanted to with the film (budget and content wise) but please don't defend what showed up on screen. The film was, and is, utter and absolute crap. <p> I heard someone comment once about Trek 5 that only in a film directed by William Shatner would he have his character go up against God...and win! It was a battle of the egos and God lost out.
-
The .... power of... Shatzam! In theaters 2009
-
Can we please ban all of the fucking idiots who post "First!"?
-
Aaaaarrr!!!
-
"I lost a brother once. Then I got him back." "I thought you said men like us don't have families." "I was wrong." If you're not moved by that classic trek moment, you've got ice water in your veins. This is not to say the Klingon subplot wasn't lame or the slapstick treatment of supporting cast was not appalling, but rather I am offering a firm endorsement of the emotional core of the picture. And "Emergency Shuttlecraft Landing...B" is an example of fine directing. Rock on, Captain, and fuck all the haters!
-
What the hell was that mess of a game show that he hosted last year for an episode or two? Holy crap!!
-
Shatner should do an Indy movie.
-
At last..!!! Yes I know Trek V sucks harder than McG (and Christ that's saying something)but at last someone acknowledges that it does have some of best Kirk, Spock & Bones exchanges of the entire series..!!!
-
It's a sad day when your character is wearing jeans and a t shirt.
-
Not Trek V.
-
Shatner tried to get Paramount to provide the funds to let him have the effects redone and do the ending the way he wanted, but they wouldn't do it. I don't really get that. They'll pay to redo the effects in every episode of the series but they won't pony up a few mill to fix those horrendous Trek V effects? Most puzzling...
-
The Shat is God! You know it!
-
bullied his way to direct ST V, since Nimoy directed 3 and 4. You'll notice Nimoy went on to direct Three Men and a Baby and The Good Mother. Shatner..........
-
Because he and Nimoy had the same Paramount deal. If Nimoy got it, Shatner got it.
-
and i have to admit his album which harry pimped was fricking superb. Long live denny crane
-
when Sybok shows Kirk, McCoy and Spock moments of pain from their past...what Trek uesd to be all about but got lost under Berman. Ironically despite the drubbing it got from the fans Trek V is the closest in spirit to the original TV show. The ending sucks (when the budget ran out) but up until then it's a fun film. Great Goldsmith score too.
-
Sarek shows disdain for Spock when his own real Vulcan blood son acts like a jerk. That was great.
-
for one who is in mourning....shat is a jew, you stupid fucks
-
I've no idea what you're talking about.
-
"Now you see de power of de rock you bring back." "Yes i understand its power now, which is nothing but you lazy fuckers getting off your ass to plant some vegetables. Eat my shit, literally here's some more."
-
I understand how some of you defend the actors involved. Despite the material the cast is, as usual, superb. However, it's still the worst Trek film in the franchise. Yes, even worst than Nemesis. No matter what J.J. comes up with I guarantee you it will be better than Star Trek V.
-
Sorry, it had to be done.
-
Yup, the Uhura striptease...what were they thinking???!!!!
-
One more time I want to see him punch out someone as Kirk
-
It's just some stand up acts for two hours.
-
How to do you follow space whales? It was doomed to failure from the start. You can't top space whales.
-
After reading accounts from people who worked on Shat's last directorial opus, Groom Lake, I'm stunned anyone would ever let him near the directors chair ever again!
-
They were so close to making one helluva film with Trek V but they missed their opportunity. First by putting the great barrier at the center of the galaxy as opposed to the edge of the galaxy. How do we know the great barrier is at the edge of the galaxy? Because of the pilot episode Where No Man Has Gone Before, when the Enterprise tries to break thru the Great Barrier. What happens then is one of Kirk's best friends, played by Gary Lockwood, develops exponentially-growing psychic powers and Kirk is forced to battle him on a nearby planet. They could have so used that plotline in Trek V and brought back Lockwood's character as the 'God' that has summoned them to the planet at the edge of the Great Barrier. But alas, they did not.
-
They were taken from Earth to Earth. The TIME differential was vast, but in terms of space travel, they went around the block.
-
long forgoton advasary returns to exact revenge - too closely.
-
Space whales built the probe, time whales stopped it. Good point Harry Weinstein!
