Rogen, Rainn, Arnett, Hugh, Kiefer, Colbert & A Very Tall Reese To Star In DreamWorks’ MONSTERS VS. ALIENS!! IN ULTIMATE 3D!!
I am – Hercules!!
USA Today has all sorts of details about “Monsters Vs. Aliens,” billed as DreamWorks’ first 3D movie.
It’s about a hot California girl (Reese Witherspoon) who gets konked by a meteor on her wedding day and grows to nearly 50 feet tall, just in time to fend off an alien invasion.
From the newspaper:
Joining her giantess to fend off Rainn Wilson's evil alien Gallaxhar are Dr. Cockroach, Ph.D. (Hugh Laurie), the jellylike B.O.B. (Seth Rogen) and the half-ape, half-fish Missing Link (Will Arnett). Kiefer Sutherland speaks for Gen. W.R. Monger (get it?), and Stephen Colbert is the president.
Discover what a 49-foot Witherspoon looks like and read all of USA Today’s story on the matter here.

not the venture bros?

Sounds like MARS ATTACKS
-
Good cast. Might be somewhat enjoyable. Probably not tho.
-
Notice the way Dreamworks humans are starting to look more and more like Pixar's humans. The 50 foot girl looks like Elastigirl and that blob looks like they pulled him straight off the set of Monster's Inc.

I'm glad the guy made it. He's golden for at least a little while.
-
at this point. (from the folks who brought you Clone High)
-
live action. Colbert as the president, though....count me in.

Until you can make it without the need for glasses I'll pass. I also like the comment that the extra $15M to make it 3D results in higher ticket prices. Spider-Man 3 reportedly cost $300M to make, why were it's tickets same price as every other movie. This 3D revival is just another attempt to get everyone fed up with the "theater experience" out of their cozy livingrooms and into movie theaters with the public they are trying to avoid. 3D is fun in 20 minute doses, after that it just gets headache inducing. Movie sounds fun without the 3D gimmick, I'll wait until it comes home.

it's not Zombies Ate My Neighbors, but it'll do.

I wish you'd mentioned that this was a fucking cartoon

I wouldn't even have bothered to click on the link.

Same story every time, with different details.
Protagonist X is a quirky member of their race/species/group and "has a style all their own" which leads them on an adventure where they meet other misfit(s) who share some sort of growing/learning experience and combine their efforts to save the day using their particular quirkiness (the thing that makes them unique among their own group) as the deus ex cartoona du jour.
Then Smashmouth's revolting, overused "rockstar" song (or one of Randy Newman's ridiculous tunes) plays and everybody realizes that the thing that makes them different is also the thing that makes them special. Roll credits. -
Sounds kind of reminiscent of "Mars Attacks" with a star-studded alien attack, a corny president, and wackiness. But this might turn out decent. I'll wait for the reviews. Get back to me in 4 years when this thing is finished.

Nuts to that!

That's the Pixar formula not standard for all cgi flicks

G.O.B., Dwight, Dr. House, Colbert...seriously, even if it sucks, I'll give this a watch.
-
Just saying. Oh and ZeroCorspe you are so right about the songs.
gfy -
i thought he dropped out of the race already?
-
to cash in on what Pixar has done so well at by focusing on CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT, STORYTELLING, and HEART, rather than just trying to bank on their "star-studded ensemble voice talent". Two words: Shark Tale.
-
Just making you a freak that everyone gave a ton of shit to until the day you caught the pills and booze express to, "I bet they'll miss me when I'm gone"- ville?
-
So far he didn't made anything memorable. (Except you call overhyped and boring comedies memorable)
-
I thought it would be live-action.
And therefore the greatest movie of all time. -
although I got con into that one too
-
And I would know!
-
Picture a bunch of marketing folk around a table coming up with new exciting fart jokes and cultural references attached to star cameos with bland artwork and voila!
-
Someone give him work!
-
Wait, now I'm already confused.
-
...An excuse for 3D and CG gimmicks with good merchandising potential. However, I like shitty horror and sci-fi films, so I'll probally go see it. Go figure.
-
Giant Mrs. Johnny Cash?
-
And Stephen Colbert as the President is inspired casting even if it's an animated movie.
-
as Inspector Gadget in a live action movie.
-
It's certain to be unfunny as hell.

(oops) And he's live-action, in front of a green screen.

That's all that needs to be said.

Mother fuckin mistake!
-
or else nothing. i don't see how a 3-D, CG, cartoon movie can be a throwback to anything. besides Roger Rabbit, of course.
-
Finally, Stephen Colbert is President. Good work man! Hehe ;P
-
the Atomic 8.
Dreamworks is a champ and taking a great premise and watering it down to lame pop-culture references and flavor of the week "voice actors"
The characters were way cooler looking too. They were supposed to be versions of the 50's classics, 50 foot woman, The Fly, Creature of the Black Lagoon, the Blob.
