Homer Jones?? FARSCAPE & SG-1's Browder Developing New Sci Fi Channel Project!!
Merrick here...
FARSCAPE & STARGATE SG-1's Ben Browder is developing a miniseries for Sci Fi Channel alongside FARSCAPE director Andrew Prowse. Evidently, the project was stalled during the writer's strike - but now they're back on track.
The miniseries follows a modern American 12-year-old boy, named Homer Ulysses Jones, who can see Greek and Roman gods walking among the populace. Homer and his father run away together after a fierce custody battle and head to the home of their ancestors in Ithaca, N.Y.

I think Browder is cool...more power to him!

it's about an astronaut that get flung to another part of the galaxy whre he meets strange aliens on a living ship. They should do that instead.
-
I want my Farscape baaaack.
-
Val, Valia, Vala, whatever her name was. She'd do good as a love interest on the crazy living ship.
-
Browder is a GREAT actor if he can portray a 12 year old. ;)
I miss SG1. I just watched "Ark of Truth" and don't understand why they ended the series. They need a crossover with Atlantis.
Maybe another Farscape mini-series????? PLEASE???? -
In fact, I just did.
-
That the Roman-Grecian Gods aren't the kid's link to solving crimes! I don't need anoher supernatural detective series on my telly.....but I do need more Browder...
-
this is gonna be a live action version of that class of the titans cartoon.
-
"that chick from SG-1"? "THAT CHICK FROM SG-1"??? Claudia Black is now known as "THAT CHICK FROM SG-1"? That's like calling Leonard Nimoy "that guy from Mission:Impossible."
-
"I see godlike people..."
-
that serves to boost Browder and Prowse's popularity to bring back Farscape.
-
...for replying to something without reading it properly.br1947 wins the award for Awesome. :^)D'Argo, tell him who his Daddy is!
-
Trust me, I have a Claudia Black shrine ;-)
-
... of someone's backyard in Vancouver a la Flash Gordon and Tin Man.
-
Didn't bother reading the rest. AND DAMN SOMMERS FOR NOT CASTING BLACK AS THE BARONESS IN G.I.JOE!!!
-
that may be a blessing to her career. But yea, she'd have been perfect given a GOOD G.I.JOE movie.
-
..."that chick from SG-1." Seeing how Renaissance Fairegate had a much larger audience.
-
and Hera can play the Divorce e trying to always find ways to score with the dad and a young Hercules can play the wacky side kick to the dad's young boy.
-
at least by the general public.
-
If they do bring back Farscape, will you change your mind about never using your "fame" to get a role on the show? ;) Oh and good luck with that Target line.

This is a cool idea, the Greek Gods were horney and violent!
by stereotypical evil archer
Showtime is the venue for this series.
-
Why does he keep getting work?
-
Ithaca, NY. Just like Ithaca the Greek island! That is so effing clever! If all the writing is that effing clever this one will rly save the Sci-Fi Channel!
-
Bring back Farscape. Sci-Fi suits - suck ass
-
John Crition was one of the most original sci fi hero's in years.
-
Bring back Rome.
-
That trilogy, of course, being REBIRTH/THE SINESTRO CORPS WAR/THE BLACKEST NIGHT. Make it happen!
-
You're onto something. Ben Browder. Yeah, he IS Hal Jordan, isn't he? But I honestly think his Parallax emotional crisis along with Coast City getting destroyed should be the last installment if ever there were to be a trilogy for GL. It would be perfect. Greek epics always end at the end of the protagonist's life, and so should this.
-
and air like two times a year.
-
can actually work quite well with the right writers and production team on board. Likewise, some of smartest concepts fail to find an audience.
-
Yep, not original.
Matter of fact it kind of stinks of Xena and Hercules as well.
Why not just do a real asshole hero show? We expect tv heros to be decent and likeable. So make one about an asshole.
That would be original. -
I work and live in Ithaca NY - most liberal place on Earth. I hope they get it right and capture all the blackfooted hippies and college yuppies. One of the best things about Ithaca though is the women don't wear bras; one of the worst things about Ithaca is the women don't wear bras.

Very good actors who love and appreciate the scifi/fantasy genre.
-
I might collect sci-fi movies, comic books, action figures and play video games, but get a fucking life already! For fuck's sake! Do ANY Scapers ever visit any of the Whedonite talkbacks?
-
I'd rather have, oh, I don't know, something with Banik slaves, Scarrans and Peacekeepers. D'Argo, tell him who his daddy is.
-
I love Ben Browder. I also love Farscape. I also love Firefly and yes, I consider myself a Browncoat, and also a 'Scaper, and a Trekker. Yes, I also have a life, Mr. Shatner-wannabe. Deal with it. And for Browncoatjedi, hey man, you couldn't be more wrong. His work in Farscape was always great, especially with Claudia Black (yummmm). And yes, bring back Farscape! And while you're at it, Firefly too. Shiny! The world never has enough great sci-fi. Live Long and Prosper! The End.....

Don't let your Farscape love blind you. Browder is not "great".
by shermdawg
He's a decent actor, but nowhere near "great". And the one thing that's holding him back is...he doesn't act with his eyes. He's got two moves, "the stare" and that side glance/back to avoidng eye contact maneuver he used on Stargate WAY too often. I love the guy, but in terms of showing any emotion, any at all with the peepers, he's unfortunately in Tom Welling's league.
-
This one sounds like Boy Meets Lords of Kobol. ;-)Still, they get major points for not doing something that everyone else is doing.
-
I can't comment on it. In Farscape tho, he did great enough to have me (and my ex at the time) come back for more. And that includes his fellow actors too. And that eye thing...never noticed it.
-
Seeing usually invisible gods, reminds me on an Anime, i was watching, Kamichu.
so far, the idea is quite nice, but if it turns out, that this boy becomes/became a god by himself, it's pretty much a copy with replaced Gods-Setting.
(still kKamichu was quite cute, but i didn't like the Episode, where they nostalgically recalled memories of an old Battleship, like it was something "Good") -
...needs to call his attorney.
-
I'd never watched the show, but it was on one night at 4am...it was like the Cantina scene in Star Wars done on a 1960's Doctor Who budget.
Browder was ok in SG1...though he's no Richard Dean Anderson, still a lot better than the guy in SG Atlantis though. -
slash.
-
Man, this sounds bad, Bonnie Hammer Sci Fi / USA Channel bad. Will, the one special effect be that the Gods speak in big echo-plex voices like they did on the ol' Star Trek? This sounds like Xena, sans action, set in modern Vancouver. No doubt the "Gods" will be oh so cheeky and Canadian. Oh well, at least this will keep Browder on his toes so that when they do bring back Farscape he'll still fit into Chriton's leather pants.

That was a dark day in scifi fandom, when Farscape was cncelled.
Weirdest, coolest, funniest, sexiest, most dramatci and overall best scif show on television.
Everything scifi should be Only BSG ever came close in quality.
As for anyone who thinks Ben is wooden because they saw him in Stargate. Well, that character wass a bit underwritten and wasn't given much, if you atch all the changes John Crichton goes through in Farscape you would not doubt the man. No bad or even marginal actor could have done the things he did in that series.
Which should also answer the question, why is he still getting work.
My question why isn't Claudia Black getting ore work. Why aren't directors and producers lined up around the block waitin to offer up their levt nut if she' work on their show.
Her performance was the standout best among the many extraordinary elements of Farscape, was an even clearer standout best in Stargate.
As for this. It's got a Farcape director as well as an actor from that series so I'm hopeful and think it will be worth checking out. -
webisode series that was supposed to come out. Any more word on that.
-
And I think Joss Whedon's the shit.
But Farscape's even better. -
Getting Ark of Truth as soon as I get off work. Anything with CBs awesome.
-
and Morena Baccarin. And the Ori. Damn they sghouldt've cancelled SG-1. But it was getting good so it was kind of inevitable.
-
Homer in spacceeeeeeeeee... Do'h!!!!!!!!!!
-
Anyone else think that this sounds like a ripoff of Neil Gaiman's "American Gods"?
-
He can do no wrong in my eyes. Where's my Farscape mini-episodes???
