Stephen Chow's CJ7 Goes Into Limited Release Tomorrow...Here Are Two Clips To Get You Ready For It!!

Published at:  Mar 06, 2008 8:21:13 AM CST

Merrick here...

Two interesting clips from Stephen Chow's CJ7 are posted over at JoBlo. They focus more on character moments than effects, stunts, etc. & don't contain any spoilers to speak of (they're more about set-up than anything else).

Really looking forward to seeing this; it opens in limited release tomorrow.

SEE THEM HERE!!!

Tonight's episode should be really good.

    by genpion

The only episode this season I haven't found stellar was 'Eggtown' and even that was entertaining in its own right. The Aaron reveal was big. The writing just wasn't up to our 'Lost' standards. Last week's episode was amazing, yes, but that doesn't mean this week will suck. Anyone remember the Penny/Desmond double-feature from last year? Not in Portland and Flashes Before Your Eyes were right next to each other. One week was amazing... the week that followed was amazing. Truly, those are two of my favorite episodes. Maybe we will get more of that kind of joy tonight. FYI, I almost hate Juliet. I do think she is ultimately evil. What is scary is that I almost believe she consider's herself one of the "good guys". But when it comes down to it she will always take orders from Ben if she thinks it will help whatever her agenda or needs are. This makes her very dangerous to herself and to others.

I thought I was in the Lost Talkback. I'm going to repost that over there. Sorry everyone. As for this movie - why the heck isn't it in wide release already? I know I would go with a bunch of my buddies to see this in a heartbeat. Kung Fu Hustle was damn awesome. Everyone I know loved it. As for Shaolin Soccer, well, I'm the only one I know that bothered to see it - but it's an amazing movie as well. Bring on the CJ7!

    by 300 monkeys

and, yes, that includes the gangster dramas and that unbeleivably bad Jet Li movie that was shot in LA. I'm a huge fan, and I have to say that this looks just terrible, more like something Jackie Chan would dream up. Early reviews ain't sounding so good, either. Maggie Lee basically trashed it in the Hollywood Reporter. I think this site is pushing it because of the advertising revenue. Peace out.

Still, like Flubber I'll give it a watch (as Mork = Kung Fu Hustle) and probably enjoy myself more than I'll ever admit...

    Gibson

    by 300 monkeys

It was called "The Master"- made in 1989 - Chow is NOT funny - it's basically a straight gangster/kung-fu revenge flick but has NO good fights in it and over-the-top melodrama. Not recommended. He also played straight in a couple of gangster movies in the late 80's - early 90's before they figured how damn funny he is.

    by 300 monkeys

that's the wrong film - Chwo co-starred with Jet in Dragon Fight - see my description of The Master, only change the location to San Francisco. Same year. Jet and Tsui Hark spent some time here together trying to get Jet's Hollywood career going.

    Dragon Fight

    by 300 monkeys

is not nearly as bad as The Master - it has a couple of great fights that were shot back in Hong Kong - and Chow's a decent dramatic actor, it's just not what he's mind-blowingly brilliant at, the way he does comedy.

    by tourist

Anyone who is old enough to actually log on and read this site is too old for this film. Its fucking for kids. And yes, I have seen it. And yes, I do love Stephen Chows films...But just because your a Vin Diesel fan (please, this is just for arguements sake), doesn't mean you would line up to watch The Pacifier. Which is the demographic this film would actually work for. Its got nothing for adults, unless you have a hard on for cheap computer effects.

How would I know? Maybe its for retarded adults. I know the Mission Impossible films were aimed at 10-13 year old boys, who may fit the far end of the spectrum for a film like this. When I went the audience was mostly little kids and a few older ones. Plus semi-mong honkie chicks.

    by tourist

...Its not like, you know Pixar or anything, where theres some fun jokes and winks for the adults. Its like Barney, or High School Musical (not in quality) where its really strictly for the tots. Theres nothing at all that an adult will enjoy, unless you just like to admire the construction of alright looking childrens films. If you got kids though, they'd probally love it, if they can read the subtitles.

If this doesn't have any Kung-Fu...

    by theghostwholurks

It's a waste of time. Steven Chow IS funny, but only when interspersed with liberal doses of martial arts.I don't know if this film is like Kung-Fu Hustle or Shoalin Soccer in that regard, but I certainly hope so. The clips I've seen so far just showing him and his kid with a cutesy alien just leads me to believe the movie's merely simple-minded pablum for children under 7. And I HATED E.T. >:PI really hope I'm wrong, though.
