‘Just Batteries!!’ The Other Woman!! LOST 4.6!!
SPOILER ALERT !!
I am – Hercules!!
“We have a common enemy!!”
“You said they are friends!!”
“We have to find out who these people are!!”
“If there’s something you want to tell me, now’s the time to do it!!”
“Whatever he’s doing, tell him to stop!!”
“You want to stop us, you’re going to have to shoot us both!!”
ABC says:
Juliet receives an unwelcome visit from someone from her past and is given orders to track down Charlotte and Faraday in order to stop them from completing their mission -- by any means necessary. Meanwhile, Ben offers Locke an enticing deal. Guest starring are Jeremy Davies as Daniel Faraday, Rebecca Mader as Charlotte, Alan Dale as Charles Widmore, Andrea Roth as Harper, M.C. Gainey as Mr. Friendly/Tom and Brett Cullen as Goodwin.
* A gorgeous Andrea Roth (Tommy Gavin’s blonde wife on “Rescue Me”) plays brunette Harper, the individual from Juliet’s past.
* Harper, who claims to carry a message from Ben (!) may be a nutty psychotherapist, and may continue as part of the Lostverse beyond this episode.
* Tension between Harper and Juliet may be tied to a romantic rivalry.
* Jack and Juliet may share a big wet one.
* Daniel and Charlotte will ditch Team Shephard, then contend with Kate.
* Daniel, Charlotte and Juliet will all find their way to Orchid Station, the one glimpsed last July at Comic-Con, the one with the numbered bunnies.
* Juliet’s flashbacks are said to be entirely island-bound – a telling detail in light of Alan Dale’s participation.
“It’s not really about what really about what year it is in the outside world, it’s about how many years elapsed between the time we’re watching on the island and the flash-forwards,” showrunner Damon Lindelof tells the March 10-16 edition of TV Guide (the one with Sayid and Juliet on the cover). “That’s one of the fun games the audience is playing: ‘Gee, Aaron looks like he’s about 18 months old. What does that mean?’”
“There are some growth issues when you go on or off the island,” adds showrunner Carlton Cuse.
The same article indicates that “Meet Kevin Johnson,” the Michael-centric 8th episode and the last written before the WGA strike, will air March 20 – despite earlier reports that suggested it would air in late April, following a hiatus. Next Thursday brings the 7th episode, “Ji Yeon,” which focuses on the Kims.
9 p.m. Thursday. ABC.

Have you found yours?
-
honestly?
-
Glad they're not holding this episode off until after the mini-break.
-
It's great so far. I wish my constant was Scarlett Johannson.... Yummy.
-
I'm definitely not allowed to have Scarlett as my constant, in fact, I'll get into trouble for even mentioning her name!
-
Check that shit out! Pretty sweet eh? Feel like a celebrity now that I'm name checking you on AICN? Take a flexi and chill out brother...
-
so if the helicopter was gone for say 1 hour (the pilot clearly makes reference to how little fuel he has left so im assuming maybe an hour of flight tops) but on Island time they were gone for 2 days, what's that equate to? 1 hour equals 48? If so, the flash forwards have to be pretty quick after they're rescued.. We know Kates trial is cause Jack doesn't have the beard yet and seems like he's not all pill'd out. Help
-
this really isnt a hater post...it isnt...but if lost were a novel, most people woulda stopped reading half way through...constant flashbacks, flashforwards....the odd macguffin...filler chapters...and no real cum shots...and last weeks epi...sorry guys, but star trek tng did this one, and did it better...picard didnt need no stinkin constant
-
I don't think they can top it. I'm guessing they wont even deal with the whole time travelling thing.
-
I'm not totally well-versed with Lost names, but I'm pretty sure they're the Kwons.
-
but I still think it's gonna be awesome.
-
It's all about perspective. Lost has less "filler" than most TV shows, if you want to look at it that way, since most TV shows are more or less simply trying to survive for as long as possible. The same goes for MacGuffins, or aborted plotlines. If you're thinking of it as a giant novel then you're right, most people probably would have put it down by now. But it's not structured like a novel, it's structured like a TV show. I can't speak for everybody, but I judge the show on a week-to-week basis; most episodes I like, some I don't.
-
I hate Juliet. Just hate the character. Yeah, her episode where she got on the island was cool, but since then she's just a male Jack, which sucks.
-
before the hiatus?
-
Last nights episode was one of the best episodes that I have ever seen. Looking forward to this shit!
-
3, counting tonight's episode: 6, 7, and 8.
-
then I'll wait a couple of weeks and watch all three back to back. I like my Lost in larger doses. 40 minutes once a week makes my balls blue.
-
Another week went by fast, to be followed by the longest day.
-
Regardless of how you feel about Juliet's character, her flashbacks have been pretty great in that they revealed much more about the island and the Others. Not In Portland and One of Us were two awesome episodes.
-
She's pissing me off. She's starting to become more annoying than Ben!
-
It was originally reported that ABC ordered 48 episodes over seasons 4-6, with the intention of having 16 eps each season. Season 4 will have the 8 eps shot before the strike, plus the 5 shot afterwards. Does Bad Robot therefore owe ABC 3 more episodes over seasons 5 and 6? Will those seasons be longer?
-
Michael? As in "Michael" Michael? As in "What have you done with my son?" Michael? That Michael?
-
the whole time travel thing was thought out before they figured out the actor for Walt was growing too fast......
[p]
i'm kind of hoping that this show had a fleshed out beginning middle and end kind of like Babylon 5, before the show ever started filming..... maybe not quite as planned out as thoroughly as B5, but in that general direction....
Thoughts? Comments? Responses?
-
Supposedly the missing 3 episodes will get absorbed into seasons 5 and 6. After tonight, 42 episodes of Lost remain.
-
Be interesting to see what they come up with for eps 9-13
-
Smoke monster needs to whip some ass.
-
After 3 episodes of careful study and observation I have come to a conclusion: She's hot. Me likey the accent, too.
-
I think we're not gonna see Dharma station "The Orchid" tonight, rather more than likely we'll visit "The Tempest"... Oh, Caliban!
-
Because I know it will be lame compared to last weeks. I mean Jack. Juliette. Yawn.
Normally it would be great I'm sure, but the standards have just been raised big time. -
The issue with the helicopter is not that there is a difference in time on the island and off, but rather that the transition between on the island and off the island causes problems. December 24th, 2004 on the island was December 24th on the Freighter and December 24th in London. It's like there is a moat around the island, only rather than being full of crocodiles, it's full of weird time effects. (Think of Daniel's map as an explanation of where the drawbridge was.) It can make the helicopter arrive around 12-18 hours late or make a rocket arrive 31 minutes late; it all depends on what path you take. At least, that's my take on it.
-
and I doubt this episode will suck the plot is just moving too quickly for the episode to be useless.
-
I understand what other people are saying about tonight's episode, and I agree that it will be hard to follow last week's near perfection, but I can't imagine that it's going to be bad. The guest stars do not include Bai Ling, and even a complete throw away episode like Nikki and Paolo's was still entertaining.
-
Last week's show was the best of the series. Thank you. Just like the rest of us on here, I'm a die hard fan of this show. The emotional investment you made in all of us last week by giving Desmond a chance to talk to Penny was set up perfectly the past few seasons and you presented this episode just right. Up until last week, my favorite episode was "Walkabout", nothing could beat the tough life of John Locke that we got a first taste of and the surprise and his joy he's found on the island. Until now. I truly believe that LOST is some of the best TV ever written or filmed and that makes last week's episode one of the best shows ever to be put on television. In my opinion anyway, and I'm sure a lot of others agree. Thanks again guys, keep it up! The fans have faith in you!
-
Oh, and have Locke or Jack beat the shit out of Ben some more. That's always fun.
-
The Kwons are played by the Kims
-
Usually the follow up to the kick ass eps are pretty weak. Maybe they'll break that trend tonight but I agree....Juliet is a pretty weak character. I can't see her back story offering that much more.
-
I bet.
-
And I use bomb very seriously (since I never say that word). I avoid the Lost talkbacks at all cost ( too easy to get sucked in and "lost" forever)but I think it has to be said that Elliott rocks the shit out of the character Faraday, man he is just so... squirrelly and weird and out there, a perfect addition to the Lostiverse. Whoo Hoo... Phone Home!
-
because obviously I have no idea who the fuck I'm talking about... smoke monster take me now...
-
There simply isn't another show on right now that has me and the wife sitting around going:"I think this and this and this.." "Wait, remember this?" "Oh yeah, that can't be...but what about..." and back and forth for like 2 hours. I try and get a handle on it but damn if they don't keep tossing new threads out making it impossible to reconstruct a mosiac. Really, I don't even care that much anymore, I really just enjoy the ride, and you know you are invested when Desmond FINALLY gets to make that call to Penny and you feel yourself choke up and hope like hell your wife doesn't look your way and catch your eyes welling up with tears. I'm not sure a be-all/end-all wrap-everything-up explanation at the end would even satisfy, how could it? It's been a great ride, who cares if the train ends up in Jersey?
-
I hope you are just noting the resemblance, and don't actually think that Henry Thomas plays Faraday... (BTW, he had a Charles Manson thing going on in the previous ep.)
-
can't be that bad. granted it's juliet centric, the previews show some pretty cool stuff going on anyway- like ***SPOILER FROM NEXT WEEK ON LOST*** faraday and charlotte getting into the orchid station, wearing radiation suits...possibly trying to jump through time themselves? i can't wait.
-
I think he is has either mistaken Jeremy Davies to be Henry Thomas who played Elliot from E.T. or is implying that Faraday looks like Henry Thomas. Either way they are different people. Davies is from Saving Private Ryan (the coward soldier) and he was awesome in Rescue Dawn (the crazy soldier)
-
I'm not sure what the deal is with the Juliet complaints. All I can think of is that (1) it follows The Constant (2) she's not one of the 815'ers, so there is backlash from that, and (3) she's getting more involved with Jack, so there is backlash from people who are sick of him and from the Jaters who don't want some skanky Other-lovin' ho getting her grubby little paws on him. :)

With regards to whether Desmond remembers his meeting with Farad
by desmondo
There was some confusion I think why Desmond doesn't remember Faraday when he meets him in 2004 on the island. An interesting read on DarkUFO, apparently backed up by Damon -
"To be clear, Desmond's past was different before ''The Constant.'' Before his time-travel adventure, Desmond never met Faraday at Oxford, never got Penelope's digits. As a consequence of changing the past, Desmond's personal history has been ''course corrected'' by The Powers That Be, beginning from the moment he walked away from Penny's apartment. Lindelof says this interpretation is also correct. But here's a Big Question: since scoring Penelope's phone number, has Course-Corrected Desmond lived his life knowing that on Christmas Eve 2004, he MUST be on a freighter in the South Pacific in order to make a call to Penelope if he wants any chance of having a future with her? Lindelof says this is indeed a matter we should be mulling. Perhaps in the future, Lost will give us an episode that replays Desmond's backstory (getting the boat from Libby; killing Kelvin; meeting the castaways) from the point of view of this knowingness. "
So if there are these time travel corrections after he goes back in time, does that mean Faradays notebook has changed to and didn't say that before? And Faraday is wrong when he says that he should remember him in the future. I'm more confused...

Her episodes may not be that bad - the flashbacks have been pretty interesting. But as a character, and perhaps an actress there is something just unlikeable about her. I don't know... maybe the way she talks all slow and quiet and condescending. It just grates on me a bit...
I think if she had come back to the others camp last season, and she actually WAS evil and undercover agent I might have dug it more. Or if Sayid had done his break dancing thing to her neck.
-
granted, she had a lot more to do in season 3 than in the beginning of season 4, but it looks like that's gonna chance this episode.
And Desmondo, I certainly hope that's fake, because they've been against stuff changing in the past. -
WTF?!?!
-
and I do feel like an idiot, but I do stand by saying that Jeremy Davies does play a very cool character and a bit crazy... I would say he is just fun to watch on screen. Lost has been great this season and the addition of the other "others" is a cool move. I like them all with the exception of Charlotte, The Lawnmower Man is awesome (I think I got that one right, right?)It is cool to see Jeff Fahey play a badass and not in some cheesy horror flick... refreshing... now I will leave you all to your own devises, because I am only adding non-continuity related info which, frankly, is quite boring! Get back to the conspiracy, my apologies for wasting space... cheers all.
-
I guess Smilin Bob isnt the only one livin large....
-
Spoiler for those who care about the game:
It ends with the guy seeing the plane crash on the island and starting all over again, but with a few differences (dead girlfriend is now on the plane a survivor of the crash with him.)
It better not be the real answer for the show. That would kind of suck. -
It may be fake.. who knows. I agree that they are keen to emphasise that the don't want to change the timeline. And the whole episode seemed to suggest that, in Faradays point of view, he had always met Desmond but he just couldn't remember.
You still have a problem that Desmond is living his life happily in 1996, and all of a sudden he thinks he is in the future, and then he goes back again to 1996, knowing that in 8 years he will call Penny on a boat.
Something has to change surely? Unless he has convient amnesia too, he would recognise Faraday, let alone Sayid on the island. The writers say things don't change - that is true - Charlie was always going to die. It's just how it happened that may have changed.
-
Here's what we should expect from Desmond in upsoming episodes. His past self now has some glimpses into the future, he knows about the island, obviously he still travels to it, maybe he doesn't know the exact circumstances of what will happen when he gets there, like being trapped in the station, pressing buttons for a few years. But if he's aware of the time travel and becomes aware of Dharma, it stands to reason he's going to bone up on things. Also he'll stay in contact with Faraday, his shit is going to be tight. So that suddenly, from our perspective anyway, Desmond will change. He'll become more savvy to what's going on, clued in thanks to Daniel about what's going on on the boat. maybe even know Dharma's ultimate plan, if they have one. If you look at it that way, the smile he gives Sayid at the end of the episode could also be saying, "be at peace brother, I know the score, I'm going to save the day." Of course this would be a good excuse to kill him off.
-
The video game also lists Jack's full name as Jackson Shepherd... not that it's important but I'm curious to see confirmation or denial from Darlton
-
The only episode this season I haven't found stellar was 'Eggtown' and even that was entertaining in its own right. The Aaron reveal was big. The writing just wasn't up to our 'Lost' standards. Last week's episode was amazing, yes, but that doesn't mean this week will suck. Anyone remember the Penny/Desmond double-feature from last year? Not in Portland and Flashes Before Your Eyes were right next to each other. One week was amazing... the week that followed was amazing. Truly, those are two of my favorite episodes. Maybe we will get more of that kind of joy tonight. FYI, I almost hate Juliet. I do think she is ultimately evil. What is scary is that I almost believe she considers herself one of the "good guys". But when it comes down to it she will always take orders from Ben if she thinks it will help whatever her agenda or needs are. This makes her very dangerous to herself and to others.
-
sucks this season. she has done nothing but give smarmy attitude and sarcastic one liners to the freightees and waltz around blissfully assimilated with the survivors of 815 like she had just not been an Other for the past two years. I did like her last season, so maybe tonight's episode picks up with her storyline a little better.
-
but this show amazes me in that everytime I cannot stand one of the female characters they come up with a more grating one. I didn't like Kate very much and they managed to come up with Ana Lucia, kill her off and then you've got the satanic Juliet, in the middle of that the screeching Nikki, who may have turned out to be okay eventually, but then she was gone, and now we have the confounding Charlotte. I can't even explain why she annoys me but she's just 'ugh'. It's not that they're villains that's the problem. There are plenty of great female villains but these LOST women are just horrible. I'm no feminist but I'm starting to wonder about these guys. I'm assuming tonight's episode is going to include lots of treachery and sighing. Hopefully it will include enough Goodwin to distract me.
-
sorry but that's too adorable :D
-
You're right, and she already has. She helped shot Pickett and had Jack fix Ben all because Ben had promised to use the sub to get her and Jack off the island. The interesting/confusing thing is that she makes deals with people she knows she can't trust, and I'm never sure if she is being extra manipulative or just naive.
The moment that made Jack know he could trust her (her reaction to the exploding sub) revealed that while she has to know she can't trust Ben by now, she really and truly hoped and believed that she was getting off the island on that sub. -
I agree with you that she hasn't been given much, but I just like dislike the small pieces of dialogue she has been given in the beginning of this season. I dunno, I guess I don't feel like her character should be comfortable enough in her situation to be as smart alecky as she has been. They didn't portray this sarcastic side of her last season, so I guess it just seems out out of the blue. But it's a small gripe, one I'm sure most of you have not even noticed... and I'm still looking forward to a real return to her story arch.
-
I may just skip work today just to stay home and watch it.
-
I think she doesn't even realize that she's evil. She tries to rationalize to herself in regards to why she'll help Ben and the others. It's "to get off the island" or what have you. That makes her a truly scary character. Her intentions may sometimes be good (a struggle between making right and wrong decisions)... But the moment she agreed to come work for "Mittlelos Bioscience" after realizing what they had done to her ex-husband I knew that she couldn't be trusted. We still can't. She is a bit vulnerable, I think, but underneath that (whether she realizes it or not) she will always make the wrong decisions if they are going to help her. This is why our friend Mr. Smokey scanned her last season like it scanned Mr. Eko. Before this show is over Juliet will be judged and I don't think the outcome will be in her favor.
-
So does Kate. Yummmmm.
-
hopefully we get more naked Juliett back action, but this time turn her around a bit, til wee see her gorgous baps....
-
Still think Miles is Ben's man, and that's why he was so desperate to talk to him. Also, I would like to believe Ben really is a good guy, fighting against whatever evil company is responsible for Dharma. (I think they want to harness the power of the island for a wrongful cause.) They were still "sending" supplies to the Dharma Initiative (not necessarily dropping them in, according to the Cuse/Lindeloff interview on Blu Ray) possibly not knowing about the purge. They still don't know if there were any more survivors from 815. (Hard to communicate through time-that's why the sat-phones could only contact one another.)
Thanks for the Doc Jensen articles! -
Did they change their minds, or is the article just wrong?
-
Not if it's in a flashback...
-
Please elaborate on your "Miles on the boat" theory.
-
Yes, it is correct. Episode 8 is now showing before the hiatus. They wanted Lost, Greys and other shows to come back at the same time, so they changed the schedule again. (This was reported more than a week ago, I believe but somehow it didn't manage to get on here until Herc's article today.)
-
I maintain that the man Ben has on the boat is Michael. Des isn't the only one moving through time.
-
and knowing who's in the cast, it seems like tonight could be great, lots of info. But I don't think Lost will ever match last week's Desmond/Penny story, at least not where Desmond and Penny aren't involved in the episode.
-
I scrolled past that dude's long ass post, and 25 seconds elapsed. Better go call my constant.
-
my guess is the sheriff besides Julie herself
-
I have a hunch that tonight Juliet is going to die. Maybe more of a hoping. I don't read spoilers, so i have no idea, i could be dead wrong. But I really think this is it for her, kind of like last season when Mr Echo got a flashback 5 episodes in and he then he died at the end. I think her character has run her course.
-
While I am just indifferent to Juliet's character I don't think her character has run her course or even close. We have no idea what went on in her life during her two years on the island...alot of backstory left to tell.
-
Spoilers would be everywhere and even people who didn't want to know would know. Although I have come around to thinking she's the one in the coffin.
-
I think Miles wasn't blackmailing Ben for $3.2 million (random number) in one week, but giving him a time and a bearing when a rescue would happen, or an event to free Ben somehow. Ben wanted to make sure he got the info right asking, "why not 3.3 or 3.4?" Miles couldn't outright tell Ben, because Kate was listening and that would blow his cover. Just a theory.
-
I am starting to wonder if Michael could be Ben's man. Somewhere in the back of my mind is some info that seems to point to Michael returning this season. (Like he was credited in the cast or something...) We all knew he would come back eventually, as Walt's story is far from told, but in what manner?
-
What 18 month old is already in a toddler bed? Might be the most bullshit arc lindelof has tried to pass off yet. Kid looked 3 to me.
-
I have a theory posted in last week's talkback (after the airing of the show) which explained my reasoning about why it could be Michael. It's a crackpot theory, but I'm partial to it.
And yes, Pizza, we do know that Michael is coming back, and we even know when, but as that is based on a spoiler I don't want to reveal more to people who don't want to know. (Though I think the answer to when he is back is at least referenced in Herc's invisotext today.) -
As far as the whiners who want all the answers now go...I love that the writers are introducing more questions. Speculation is 80% of the genius of this show. I try to convince my friends and family to watch the show NOW so we can speculate together, instead of them finally jumping on the bandwagon after the show is done and asking me stupid questions that begin like, "Tell me if what I'm guessing is close..." But then again, if they are asking me at that point, I will take all liberties to mislead them as much as I can.
Another thing: When the show is finally over and everything is resolved, there is bound to be millions of theorists who are pissed off about the way they wrapped it all up. They won't think it ended as cool as it could have. I think the ending will be strong, but almost anticlimactic as the fun is in the mystery. I hope we all remember the fun we had watching it. -
It's not in invisotext, so I feel free to say that Michael is coming back in 3 weeks, because Meet Kevin Johnson is a Michael-centric episode.
-
I thought it was referring to Bai Ling getting caught shoplifting.
-
Widmore AND Mr. Friendly AND Goodwin in her flashbacks?? Fucking crazy.
-
I'm hoping it's something Juliet and Claire end up sharing......
;-> -
That's where I heard it! Thanks, Fount!
-
Thanks for the help on the time stuff, it makes a little more sense now..
-
They don't go to The Orchid station. If you watch the official ABC sneak peaks they mention the hatch called The Temptest. Either they renamed The Orchid or we just haven't seen it yet. We're not going there tonight though. COME ON AICN.
-
What's that all about?
-
I can't wait for the Return of the Jedi phase when Kate is forced into a metal bikini and a leash.
-
is big for an 18 month but not unheard of. My niece, at 10 months old, is a head taller than most 15 month olds. She's a friggin freak of nature. She can't even talk but waitresses usually ask if she wants a menu when she's at a restaurant cuz they think she's a toddler. Maybe she and Aaron suffer from gigantism.
-
I like chocolate.
-
and she winds up in the coffin. Kate and the Oceanic Six would never go to that funeral.
-
I read that some where. . .
-
skywalkerfam: Why wouldn't any of the O6 go to Juliet's funeral? Better yet, why is Jack neither friend nor family?
I'm willing to bet that Ben is in the coffin. Jack had already gone cuckoo for cocoa puffs, grown a beard and decided he needed to go back and Ben was one of the last connections or possible ways to get back. None of them would go to Ben's funeral because...well, because he's Ben. Jack may not think of himself as family or friend, but knowing that Ben was right and that they never should have left the island, his death affects Jack deeply. In fact, I'm going to go out on a limb and say that this season will end with us finding out that Ben is dead (or seeing him die) and that he is in the coffin in TTLG.
That's right, I predict this now and will gladly admit that I was wrong after the finale (or whenever I am proven wrong).
Is it because I'm that sure or because I know something you don't? (Actually, it's because I have no problem admitting to being wrong when it comes to guessing the future of this show, and I don't lose anything.) -

If nothing else, it's great to see the choices...especially the last one. -
and she did a la lesbo-movie with the jolie.. it takes effort to be that boring.
-
can't say who he is to the owner of the funeral parlor?
-
I picked Sayid, but loved the last choice. "He" was even beating most choices.
-
Vincent has over 5%? Awesome.
-
It's really a survivor type survey. Who do you think you'd want to pair up with for their survivor type skills.
Not the TV show, real survivor skills.
-
It left me with one VERY interesting question that I've thought about before, but just now carried a much heavier notion. And it is this:
Are we perhaps seeing multiple characters, without being told up-front, reacting to a world filled with events they have lived through before? I do seem to recall hearing the words
"it isn't supposed to happen like this"
But what if we are encountering MULTIPLE characters who have already experienced these jumps into their bodies in different times and places. Can you imagine jumping into Desmond's body right before he KNOWS he must kill Kelvin? It certainly makes me want to go back and watch old episodes again and watch for unusual reactions/motivations... strange ways of dealing with what would to anyone else be shocking. A certain kind of acceptance, maybe? Do you know anyone else on the show that seems to accept his surroundings on this island in an almost unnatural fashion? Locke? Someone with a "constant" would healthily jump all over the place if he so desired, slamming himself into the anomaly over and over at will, with no fear of side effects as long as his constant is reachable/healthy/alive/around? The mind boggles. The mind being mine, approaching mush while I write this. -
But I love watching the talkback on the right, in the top talkbacks, sitting there... waiting... like a sleeping giant...
Lost has indeed created a real anomaly. Hours are slower on Thursdays. -
right? desmond said he'd phone Penny on Christmas eve, and he did, and it was christmas at penny's... so, unless it's a different year, in theory it's still roughly the same time of year... right?
-
Locke probably blows something up.
-
Not only are the hours longer on Thursdays, but less work gets done despite the longer hours. Weird.
-
Deserted island....He drank enough ocean water so that he could walk all the way back to Chico!!!
“Here's to Bill Brasky!!!!”
-
Is what sort of new and creative way Ender is going to violate himself this week.Oh, and last week's episode was absolutely one of my favorites of the series, right up there with "Walkabout" and anything that involves Sayid. Mmmmmm, Sayid.I don't know how tonight's ep is going to compare to last week, but this season has NOT disappointed at all. Can't wait to see what happens next!
-
The anomaly doesn't seem random though, huh? It's fairly predictable. It's the same every Thursday now. I have a vague memory of it happening on another day of the week before. Wait! Have I done all of this before?
-
Would waterboard the Oceanic 6.
-
It's Miles. He helps the Oceanic 6 get off the island, tells Abbaddon the other three (Faraday et al) are dead, then gets killed dead by Sayid a little later. Jack sees the obit and freaks a little, but why would the rest care? Miles was a loner dick just out for money.
-
Don't know of anyone's already mentioned this but: remember when the psychic told Claire NO ONE MUST RAISE THIS BABY BUT YOU!!!!!!! Now look! KATE IS RAISING AARON!! CRAZY! WHAT DOES IT MEAN?!
-
Relax, senator. It's all in jest. You're getting too old for this stuff. DECAF! If Obama loses, I'm voting for you, so take a chill.
-
Yunjin Kim and Daniel Dae Kim.
-
I'm finally going to be able to catch Lost on it's regular airtime! No more waiting until Friday! Whoohoooo!
-
I don't know if anyone has mentioned this, but (insert something everyone knew last week, two months ago or during season one).
-
no matter who wins, the planet would be destroyed.
-
Quadruple your fun: tape Lost and Eli Stone while watching New Amsterdam and Lipstick Jungle, then watch the tape: four hours of wacky entertainment.
-
gossip magazines>p>gum, one of those combs and... apackofprophylacticsplease.
-
C.C @ JTS [tm] linkta this U-2be comp, probably got it from the TVG Daily Scoop. Most of you have probably seen this by now, but it might amuse the few what ain't. http://tinyurl.com/yurghsIt's quick quotes of all of James' nicknames for everyone. Quite droll quips.
-
stupid wardrobe misgrabment had the FCC all jumpy and everybody skitterish over a few inches of skin. This show would be so much better with Claire asscrack, Kate cameltoe and Juliet sideboob. Not to mention Shannon in a wet t-shirt.And why no Ana Lucia necrophilia scene. C'mon, 48 people stuck on an island, you think no one would hit that while it's still warm?[vomiting sounds - I just sickened myself.]Charlotte is so unsexy she could do full frontal nudity and no one would complain, or care, or notice.
-
wonder if they will even mention the miles-grenade-in-mouth from a few weeks ago......
-
of TOTAL FUCKING DESTRUCTION.
-
Even a week later, Faraday saying "I need you to find me" is still the point in the episode where the hair stands up on your arms and you know you're in for a seriously good episode.
-
...and watching these episodes multiple times is starting to burn me out.
I think I'm gonna restrict myself to watching an episode twice from now on. Once for shock, the second to look for things I missed. Any more and I start to go nuts. -

I just watched the series finale of The Wire (NO SPOILERS)...
by danielkurland
Maybe one of the best episodes of television I've ever seen. Completely satisfying in every way, and surpisingly different in tone than I thought the finale would be.
-
Just thought of a very interesting theory. Jacob = Future Daniel Faraday. Sent his conciousness back to guide Locke.
-
Miles is a ghostbuster. Maybe he dies, and can send his mind back to the island?
-
if you've seen any of the screengrabs.
-
Oh, and Penny loves Desmond.
-
that is all
-
I recoginze her but cant' place who it is?
-
Nevermind.
-
Maybe they're saving her for a Sawyer flashback. *crosses fingers*
-
Dammit, Jim!
-
And hate him. It's a very complicated emotion.
-
"Then I'll have to show you!"
Thanks Alex, I'll take, What is the Smoke Monster for $200.00. -
I see Ben, mouth wid in disbelief, looking up at those gorgous knockers, face between, going blrbblrbblrbblrb right between them. While Juliet looks bored.
Meanwhile...Juliet just walked out of the ocean 1/2 nude. Mnnnnn. THAT is a WOMAN. -
Whoa!
-
and are playing everyone.
-
It's Michael.
-
He's the spy.
-
Everyone has already guessed that... I guess we'll find out soon enough.
-
Still want me some Goth Claire.
-
Each episode of Lost makes me go WTF!!!
-
Ben loves her.
-
Seriously...
-
then again, last week was pretty fucking awesome, hard to follow up on
-
...on the crew, and he had no mole at all on the boat when Locke initially questioned hm. And his "man" is actually Sayid.
-
And that will make Ben happy.:)
-
so, it's probably him.
-
Sad face:(
-
Jesus. After last week this was bound to be a drop in quality. Still good.
-
He's tied up but still controls everyone.
-
Or is he even a bad guy?
I'm so confused. -
Did she go back into the woods, or what?
-
I told you so
-
At Dinner!
poom -
Gawd, that was great.
-
well I guess that answers that...
-
But dammit they coulda threw off the fans somehow.
-
He died like two episodes ago...
-
for at least 48 hours. Nobody could survive that.
-
But that was definately the weakest episode of the season. It's cool we got the widimore reveal, but who hadn't already guessed that. At least his scene was creepy, when he looked at the camera, chills went down my spine.
-
at least, not from the grenade. They make this BOOM noise and people might have noticed it.
-
yuck
-
I did.. it covers Sayid's face!
-
and i love it, this show is such a physchological roller coaster, and its going to be a depressingly loooooonngggg summer and fall waiting for more Lost
-
Is not dead....It seems michael is on the boat? how? Can't wait.
-
How could Ben have possibly known that Ana Lucia would kill him? That didn't really make sense to me. Solid entry though it was no "Constant"
-
Well I suppose it could only go down after last week's episode. But the episode was kind of blah. Ben saying 'you're mine' to Juliet was rather awkward. Was like a little kid there. Jack and Juliet kissing at the end inferring that he'll protect her was a tad too syrupy. Well got to watch the Constant again at least.
-
..in the background, and a cut to Locke looking up and just smirking.
-
Do people honestly find Juliette to be an interesting character? That was total shit. The week-long boner I had from last weeks show ended about 30 seconds into tonights show. Terriible.
-
Are you kidding? Look at the info we got in this episode. We see Ben manipulate his way out of prison. We learn that Widmore is the one that hired the boat. (This is why Naomi had the picture of Des and Penny.) We saw a completely different side of Ben, complete with a hint that he's obsessed with women who look like "her"...probably Annie. We learned that Faraday and Charlotte may not be evil, oh, except that they are working for Widmore, who is almost certainly evil. And we go to see Juliet running through the jungle without sufficient support, followed by coming out of the ocean in a bikini. There's no way it compared to The Constant, but it was a good episode.
-
very underwhelming. nice boxers.
-
that's how he knew goodwin would be killed.
-
meant to say 'bikini shot*' but shit works too.
-
That would be the kate-centric episode. this episode was excellent. We learn that ben is lying about the freighter people, that he is able to communicate with the others at will, that widmore is his nemesis, and that he can still control juliet in some ways. It was no constant, but it was excellent.
-
was the only thing that could have saved that episode. Where is the knife throwing Locke when you need him.
-
it's him
This episode wasn't as bad as "Eggtown". But they've got to get over all this love triangle garbage. No one cares about that crap. -
My roomate's idiot girlfriend changed the channel right when she was about to say something important. So was what she said actually important?
-
Possibly the best last line of an episode since "You guys got any milk?"
-
I suggest you go rewatch "Stranger in a Strange Land"
-
Ben should've been killed many times over by now, let alone set free.Yeah, Juliet blows..
-
NO, it wasnt
-
Robert Downey, Jr.
-
While i agree with you on juliet being a weak charachter, your looking at the episode from the wrong angle.
While not up to the same level as The Constant, this was a great Ben episode, and showed how seriously twisted and devious he is, and how he is in complete control over everything.
-
the right time to leave into the jungle, find the station, and get there to deactivate it just as the manual override kicked on.perhaps turning on the manual override kicks on the countdown to release the gas, which doesn't make sense to me.
-
I agree about the love triangle or rectangle as the case may be, but a lot of people seem to care. I'm fine with there being romantic storylines but I'd rather keep them within reason and secondary to the story.
-
'It's a Good Life' episode of The Twilight Zone. People are actually afraid to make this bug-eyed little man angry. Jacob makes things go his way it seems.
-
it's all about the story arc motherfuckers, of course constant was totally more bad ass than this ep, that's fine.. this ep still totally advanced the plot. interesting shit, and its nice that the flash forward routine was broken up for variety's sake but did anyone else feel that this episode was fucking short (or was that just the copious amount of evan williams(give it up for e dub) that i drank before hand talking).
-
I assumed that whatever they were doing triggered some sort of mechanism that would release the gas. It seems that this system works the same as the ones in every other movie or TV show.
-
How did you expect this episode to top last weeks perfection? I say STFU! We learned a lot.& Juliet is an intriguing character.. don't think she makes it out though.
-
Point A to Point B to Point c. Scriptwriting is easy!
-
Maybe not THE worst, but comeone...are you going to defend that episode. This whole season has been the a speeding freight train to awesometown and someone just pulled that string that brought everything to a screaching halt. Juliette is aweful. Is she supposed to be hot? I'm not seeing it. They had to get some witch with moles filled with botox to make her seem more attractive. I'm sorry but that was a bad bad bad episode.
-
I thought the same thing. When Goodwin's wife showed up in the forest I thought she was dead and Ben was controlling her to get a message to Juliet. So I thought of that Twilight Zone. But then she wasn't dead but then later he was all acting like a little kid with that "You're mine" thing. (Which was a great combo line with "take as much time as you need" or whatever he said.) It seems like he has a greater power over these people than a normal dictator. And I mean power in the super sense.
-
Great ending.
-
Then Ben gets jealous of John.
-
SWEET! ANOTHER LOVE TRIANGLE! Then Miles and Faraday with the red head chick, and on, and on, and on...
-
Janet Gavin any day of the week over Juliet. She's likes it a bit rough...just ask Dennis Leary.
-
Little suspense. Ben stole the show. Favorite parts: "I always have a plan". "See you at dinner guys." Locke's reaction to "You better sit down." Least favorite parts: Jack kissing Juliet, anything with Goodwin's wife, anything with Juliet's backstory, anything with Juliet.
-
I was I lived in a vacuum because when I saw the Widmore video I would have been like oh shit, it's that fucker Widmore behind this.
-
Ben was the tootsie roll wrapped inside a Juliet flavored candy coated shell. This was a Ben episode to me and it was a piece of the bigger puzzle
-
I'd prefer a Sawyer-Des-Sayid-Jin love rhombus.
-
Hurley, vincent and the smoke monster
-
This is how I hope it's shown:Door opens, Lock walks in, Mile in one piece, grenade on the floor. Miles' pants are wet.Miles: "You sick bastard, I held that thing for 3 hours. I think I chipped a tooth. Where'd you find a fake grenade?"Locke: "Huh, must have been a dud"
-
Ok, they wanted to make the deadly gas Ben used inert. Alright. Why were the alarms going off? Why wouldn't Farraday and Charlotte just tell them what they were doing. Who would argue with them? It's kind of a big plot hole.
-
I like how time travel has now replaced discovering a new hatch for exciting features to Lost fans. I mean, we got quite a few answers in this episode, but God forbid there isn't any time traveling. A great episode that brought some perspective on events that have occured in the past.
-
Do we know this yet?
-
I was just not invested in the storyline this go around. I liked the plot reveals, but without a suspenseful story behind it to back it up it feels obligatory. The Constant has set the bar so high I fear they won't reach it for a while.
-
Yea...I don't think Ben has psychic powers himself (maybe he does?) but I do think his connection to Jacob, who seems to be a very powerful entity himself, makes him fearful to his people. Harper, probably as his shrink, knew what a complete psychopath this guy is... so in this way he's kinda like the twilight zone kid... bratty and in a position of power.
-
You fucking people are so pissy. This gave us a bunch of answers to certain questions and a ton of insight into some key characters, yet it's all bitching here. And screw the Juliet haters. I'll take Juliet over most of the other cast. It's ironic that the Oceanic Six is stacked with people I hate or don't care about (Sayid excepted and Jack sort of). I hate the stupid love quadrangle, too, but obviously something is going to happen to cut that off. I'm just sorry that the future leaves Jack pining for the awful Kate.
-
He purchaed the journal of the first mate of the Black Rock at an auction.
-
Bernard dies in firey Smoke Monster death scene.
-
I don't think it's a plot hole. They know that Ben is a manipulative evil bastard. The freighter people don't know who to trust any more than the Losties do. If they were like, "Hey, we're going to go take care of this evil gas system. We'll be back later." only to have a bullet sent through their back. While I think they might have been a little TOO aggressive, I suppose I understand the logic behind it.
-
Juliet and her body. I'd take her over Kate anyday.
-
Are the people that are pissy about the pissy people. Piss.
-
i don't think they are as big plot holes as you say. i mean there could be a number of reasons why they did what they did and that fact itself means they aren't plot holes, just not properly explained. faraday and charlotte could possibly just not trust jack and everyone that much, widmore might have extensive intelligence on the island and the wherabouts of the stations...who knows? but we do know that the gas was used before during the purge
-
We're supposed to believe Ben is a straight man? That's the most unbelievable thing on this show.
-
yes, cunt, anyhow, some people in this talkback are complete bitches, hey guess what, some episodes of a show are better than other episodes, oh, holy fuck, for real???? yes you cuntgoblins....it's all about the motherfucking arc as i said about (yet nobody seems to have listened to me, i always thought that was the point of the internet...MEEEEE!!!!)
-
So he must have known something was funky about the black rock. That's why he wanted to go to the auction anyway.
-
she appeared and left out of nowhere when the whispers were going on...she delievered a message...totally what the monster does when it transforms into ppl who come to give messages i.e. yemi & walt
-
in the third line of my previous post i wrote about when i should have written above!!!!
-
But they were perfectly willing to reveal everything to Kate after the fact. I highly doubt Kate and Jack would have pistol whipped them for suggesting something like that. The explanation that satisfies me most is that the freighties just have that rebellious streak. Charlotte's got an attitude. I dig her.
-
And in that respect, you're right. We don't know. Maybe he knew Ben?
-
i think ben explained it all tonight. people become awed and obsessed about miraculous things...Widmore probably heard from down the grapevine about this island (ex-dharma people, degroots, people we havent seen?) and as a man of great wealth and power decided to be a douche and try to exploit it and see it for himself. just another thing that hasnt been explained but more than likely will be.
-
It's not what they did this episode, it's how they did it. This episode did not appeal to my aesthetic taste. It did to you. That's great. People can have different opinions without being pissy.
-
The whole gas thing played out really weird. So he was hoping to kill everybody including himself so that the island would be ripe for the taking when the freighter pulled up? Or are Charlotte and Daniel playing everybody and set up the thing to be pretending the whole time and to end at 2 seconds on purpose. I also hope that the only reason Michael may be the spy is that some serious shit happened to him after he got on the island and Ben was his only hope. A pre-concieved deal before hand makes the whole sail away scene and Michael's disbelief that he would be leaving really a plot hole.
-
i think ben just wanted juliet to stop charlotte and daniel so the gas wouldn't be rendered useless for any future plans he had for it. i don't think he meant for it to be released just yet.
-
STUPID. Really. Would Kate really be that off guard after seeing the lies plain in front of her face. Same w/Jules. Very out of character. Don't know if I liked this episode because of all the holes. And I'm getting tired of the whole "guess what we didn't tell you before" angle on EVERY scene. It's getting kinda old. Did Goodwin really need a wife? Did he need to be cheating on her w/Jules? Couldn't it have been fine that Ben was just jealous in general without the extra scandal?
-

I like the idea that the island is a tightly guarded secret
by terrymalloy
if Dharma or Degroots people had loose tongues the cat would be out of the bag in no time. Don't you guys remember junior high?
-
I did like how they handled the Widmore interest in the island; the interest to exploit it. It even adds more to the 815ers having a reason to side with Ben to protect the island later on. And obviously there are people who remain on the island for reasons where they would want to protect it even more. Hell I'm starting to think of Ben as a good guy now. I heart you, island. sniff sniff
-
Thick with holes this episode was.
-
its says march 20 on lostpedia and someone above mentioned march 20th so what's the deal? I'm pretty sure we'll find out who the man on the boat is next week, they wouldn't tease us again like they did this week would they?
-
Ben has a man on the Island. [Insert "Lost" logo]
-
don't be lovin' on the island just yet, widmore's interest and motives are yet to be seen, he may or may not be "the economist". ben is bad ass but for anyone to assume that his motives are anything but selfish seems really foolish at this point
-
I agree they tease way too much when they could be revealing more. The back and forth rhetoric is getting old. 'Why should I trust you' has become everyone's catchphrase on this show. It's something I don't even think the writers realize. But when people complain about there not being enough plot advancement, they really do have a point most of the time. Sure, we had a nice revelation tonight with Widmore and his pursuit of the island, but it's not exactly a curveball. It's something we saw coming to a degree due to the involvement of Desmond and Penelope with events on the island. Every episode should be as jampacked as last week's and 'Man Behind the Curtain'. I think a lot of people mistake motion for action when they consistently say 'Fuck that episode was awesome! Lost just gets better every week!' week after week.
-
you look just like her
-
But for the benefit of mankind. Me no likely Charles Widmore! He no let Desmond marry Penny either!
-
And it probably would have been ironed out if it wasn't for the strike. I mean, the whole thing with Claire was forced. Outside of the flashback, this episode was pure exposition. Why did Daniel and Charlotte go out on their own? Why did Juliet and Kate allow themselves to be hit upside the head (twice in the same episode, no less) by Charlotte? Simply to move the plot along. However, I enjoy Juliet's character, and I love Ben. And quite frankly, the flashbacks were more or less about both Ben and Juliet, despite it being Juliet-centric. But I never found the episode boring (Eggtown wins that one. And I enjoy answers/new hatches, and this episode provided that, at the expense of some character development.
-
I know what you mean but I'd like to say it in a different way. We could conceivably have an episode where the only thing we learned was the Widmore is Freighter man. But what we want is an interesting BACKSTORY/FLASHFORWARD that reveals character, advances story, and is suspenseful/interesting. In an ideal episode, there also should be some WTF moments (ie supernatural/island mysteries).
-
Who's pushing the button? Where's Walt? WTF is the smoke monster? Is Charlie really dead? WTF is Jacob? AAAAhhhhhhhhhhh....Fuck it. Enjoy the ride.
-
But your constant use of the phrase "motion but no action" is kind of moot when you praise Prison Break, the worst offender.
-
the main action on the island should not be an arbitrary "let's go look for so and so". It should be interesting and should focus on character. Simple episodes like "The Moth" work because of character growth on island/off island coinciding with interesting island events. In that episode, Charlie was dealing with his withdrawal, Sayid tried to triangulate Rousseau's distress signal, and there was a cave-in. Not much crazy stuff happened. But the scenes were sharply written and we were invested in Charlie's struggle.
-
First, we receive THE CONSTANT last Thursday night on LOST. Then, Barack Hussein Obama gets defeated in the two big states (Ohio and Texas). Now, we get yet another great episode of LOST. Yeah, it's been a great week!
-
and discuss the show. Whaddya say?
-
Because I know in my heart which show wins in the plot development department every single time and the winner doesn't have to resort to playing word games and springing essential information only at the last possible second that it could have been useful.
-
Still doing the Barack "Hussein" Obama thing? Let it go, man. Let go of your anger. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to the dark side.
-
In any case, I'm glad the spoilers going around turned out to be inaccurate. They made it seem like Ben's line "You're mine" as though Juliet was FORCED to marry Ben. I'm glad that wasn't the case, but I'm not too sure we need to go down that road. Still looking forward to them exploring the Orchid, but who knows how that will fit in with everything that is happening.
-

I'm with TerryMalloy on this one, and here's why...
by maxwell's hammer
...I like the ideas of tonight's episode, but it seemed like a weak script and sort of averagely directed. Not bad, by any means. It'll be cool to think about some of the info and plot developments over the next week...but as a 'watching experience', it was kind of 'meh'.
-
come on, folks. he tells Locke he always has a plan. he has to get out within a week in order to avoid Miles. He shows Locke a video tape with no sound to tell us what is really going on in it, then strokes Locke's ego by telling him he is a walking miracle everyone would want to see. Yes, Widmore probably is a bad guy in some regard, but the idea he just wants to exploit the island is too simplistic.
Harper was Old Smokey. that critter shows up just about every time there is a downpour.
While I am on the subject, Daniel and Charlotte may have pulled this stunt to gain the Losties' trust. I believe we have been hoodwinked the entire episode. -
Mar 06, 2008 10:17:04 PM CST
I'm also with Sick Fixx on this one, and here's why...
by maxwell's hammer
Because I like people who are more intelligent than everyone else and also find Prison Break to be the epitome of broadcast television.
-
She doesn't seem to be the type to roll over so easily. It was kind of a stretch, that whole "You're Mine" thing.
-
The Red Sox game Ben taped over was presumably the final game of the 2004 World Series. So the video was recorded two months prior 8before* he showed the video of the game to Jack.
-
I don't trust Ben in anything that he says. He's a sociopath that one. My aunt is like Ben--a pathological liar. But she is less creepy.
-
You're a cuntgoblin. [Pause, thinks for a moment] Yeah, that's funny.
-
I maintain my position, but I'm trying to discuss the episode. It is Maxwell who is doing the trolling. I am not going to bow down and praise every episode of Lost if I have objections to it. I came out and saluted last week's episode, but if I have complaints, I will voice them.
-
I kind of disagree about Juliet. Don't forget the Juliet we first met taking care of her sister in Florida. She was kind of a sniveling wreck in thrall to her asshole husband. Then she gets manipulated onto the island by Richard Alpert, then she meets up with Harper the bitch-doctor, then she has her sister's child and health held over her head. I think her strength and growth as a strong individual is kind of an on-going project. A lot like Locke's start-and-stop leadership skills. That she's still being manipulated by Ben is just as inevitable that Locke is still throwing trays of food against the wall.
-
Best. LOST. Club. Evar.
-
Don't give into their baiting. And you're entitled to your dissent. But like Ben says, if you start an insurrection we're all going to come down hard on you.
-
...I'm only bringing up Prison Break because its so kick-ass wicked awesome.
-
I honestly don't think Ben has the hots for Juliet, it just seems way too obvious. And with all the intrigue and mystique surrounding ben, it just seems silly to involve him in a love triangle with juliet. As always, he's got to have a hidden agenda.
-
Anytime soon. I long for Season One Locke. I wanna see Locke carrying a boar on his back and giving that knowing smile of his. But yeah, you're right about Juliet's past behavior. I just find it hard to accept the "You're Mine" thing because Ben hasn't made explicit to Juliet what threat/power he has over her. Especially now that Goodwin is dead he has nothing.
-
Hahaha, yeah, I love that "use Obama's full name to frighten the morons" tactic. Golly! Anyone with the name Hussein must be a bad man. In a related story, since my name is Charles, I agree with everything Charles Manson did.
-
...that Ben has insinuated that he has the power to bring back or take away Rachel's cancer. That's a pretty significant threat.
-
I totally agree. The power Ben holds over Juliette is what he can do to her sister.
-
But if I was her i'd be all like "what the fuck are you talking about Ben you hannibal lector wannabe"
-
...Stop agreeing with me! I ain't associatin' with no Charles Manson lover!
No, no. I kid. You're great. -
sorry lost fans...but until sunday, the wire remains the best show on tv...and until the end of time, picard remains the master of being able to deal with his consciousness time jumping
-
I mean, letting Ben roam free? Yeah, I get it. He probably just told you that Michael is the spy on the boat and gave you lots of information, but the "last bargaining chip" bullshit? Please. Locke, in what you know of Ben, when have you seen him release his last bargaining chip. He was almost willing to get SHOT IN THE FACE instead of revealing the fact that he was an Other. All in all, found the episode satisfactory. The problem is with so many comparatively awesome episodes recently, this one unfortunately pales by comparison. Still solid, though.
-
One episode Locke has learned from his mistakes and is supercool, the next he's a total idiot who falls for everything Ben tries to pull. This season Kate seems to have completely lost it, scenes like the one where she turned her back on Charlotte make her look retarded but then she was smart enough to steal the phone from Jack and go after Naomi. Claire not giving a rat's ass that Charlie's dead after she seemed ready to be his girlfriend when he left. It's like they're writing too fast or something so that they forget who the characters are week to week.
-
And pull one on him. That would be so satisfying
-
Inconsistent. I blame season two.
-
It was so obvious that the Harper Juliet runs into the jungle was good old Smokezilla! Smoky likes to use people (living or dead) that have a strong psychological in order to manipulate others. Obviously, Harper and Juliet have a strained pass, so smoky decides to use her image to get Juliet to kill Faraday and Charlotte. Ben knows nothing of these events, and I doubt Ben had anything to do with the gas. The island has had enough with the losties, the others and the freighties! Smoky intends to kill everyone! At least that is my theory.
-
I actually kind of dig that theory.
-
it's not at all out of character for locke to be manipulated easily. I mean the man was conned into giving away his kidney, conned by that kid who was a cop in that one commune episode, conned by Sawyer in the last Kate episode and the episode where he conned everyone, not to mention all the times Ben has manipulated him, it goes on, Locke's an idiot
-
Was it Valis again?
-
I again disagree...Locke was a man who had been beaten into submission by life, and the island gave him the confidence to change that. The problem is, he's not a natural born leader. he likes to think he is, and every once in a while he manages to convice others (and himself) that he knows the way. But ultimately, he has no fucking clue what he's doing. The only time he seems on steady ground is when he's given a clear sign of what to do (Desmond telling him to push the button; Ben telling him to kill his father; Taller Ghost Walt telling him whatever the hell he told him; etc.) but each time he follows through with his missions, he ends up right back where he started: not knowing what the fuck to do next. Hence the back and forth between Badass Hero Locke, and misguided wannabe figurehead Locke.
-
I'm surprised by the amount of negativity. It posed some interesting questions. 1) Was there ever an actual relationship between Ben and Juliet? 2) Who is the woman Juliet reminds Ben of? 3) Is Charles Widmore looking for the Island for Good or Bad reasons? 4) Is Ben really a "good guy" after all (in the sense that he will help save their butts from what is worse between two evils)? 4) Did the Gas countdown stop by itself or did they stop it? It seemed like it wouldn't have gone off to begin with. 5) Is the Therapist dead or the Black Smoke monster? Both? She appeared right after the whispers were heard and was really creepy. Maybe she's a Hostile? 6) That line from Claire... "Maybe that's why they think we're all Hostile" - wink, wink, alluding to the Freighter folk thinking that they are island natives, perhaps? 7) What happened to the Children that were taken? The list was brought back up.
Hmmm.... that's the bulk of what's popping out at me right now. Also, if Michael is the one on the Freighter what if he is working for Ben (just like Sayid) because now he knows what's going on? He knows Ben's plan? I thought that was an interesting possibility. And the last line in the episode "See you guys at dinner". That was one of the funniest, most badass lines in Lost history IMHO. Ben may be an evil manipulative genius but I like the fact that they are perhaps making us questioning just how evil he is... Most of the time we can't trust him. But occasionally he speaks the truth. So what is it this time? Man... I loved this episode. It doesn't even compare to last week's (which was phenomenal all around) but I do like the Mystery Aspect to Lost and this filled in some gaps while presenting us with some new possibilities In my opinion. Not as good as last weeks but an excellent episode nonetheless. I can't wait until next week! -
boo on this one. This episode was almost all padding. oh well. first bad episode of the season. I guess it was nice to see who the other infiltrator was and Widmore but nothing I couldn't have lived without. All about Michael returning next week. woot! Although it would be supercool if the mole on the boat was someone who was dead or even via some real time travel shenanigans it was Locke or something like that.
-
You just knew it was bad when it started with a) juliette b) in a therapists office c) a predictable opening where you think it's the future but we all knew it was actually a flashback d) said therapist mysteriously appearing in a rainy jungle like a ghost - and then five minutes in we're hearing echoing voices in the woods. That's an old screenwriting trick called, "I don't have a fucking clue what I'm doing so I'll throw in some eerie voices in the background." Jesus, and Juliette is soooooo boring. She's just a reminder of Lost's most boring stretch. Not only that, but they bring back one of the most boring forgettable characters in Lost's history - the blond haired dude - and expect us to be like, "oooooh! hiiimmm!"
I also noticed for the first time that the "flash-forward" technique has one minor problem. We now aren't the least bit concerned when anyone points a gun at Jack, Kate, Hugo, Sayid, Ben, and whoever else we see in a flashforward. We know all those people are safe so any dangerous situations they get in, we're not going to worry. It'll be interesting to see how the writers deal with this. -
I'm going back to watch that episode and prove it. If my memory is faulty and things don't happen the way I remember it, I will concede it, but I will not concede that I saw the Meadow ending on Sopranos or that Cerberus turned into a giant human hand when it killed Eko.
-
first, for all of you snots who think an accomplished, aggressive female character is either boring or annoying, grow up. Everyone can see Juliet's fragility and how frayed she is just beneath the surface.
So let's see here, where do we start...the video doesn't prove that it is Widmore's boat, although it could be. Why would Widmore want to publicize and exploit the island, though? Also, how could Ben not know how Widmore knows about the island? Surely, among other details, the electromagnetic pulse from the hatch explosion would have been recordable by Ben's people as well as Penny's.
Next, the time travel stuff. Ok, time could be one long line that gets broken off like a branch (a la BTTF:2). However, a different competing theory of time is this: one long unchangeable line. Now if one could travel back and forth along that single line and change an event, the theory goes, only one future results. So what happens if someone goes back in time to change an event? It's easy if we use the tree/branch notion to basically say, heck, let's go back in time and retrace our steps so that Marty's dad can pervy watch Lorraine from the tree and get hit by Lorraine's dad when George falls from the tree. THis theory says you can go back, retrace your steps, and go somewhere else, like a choose your own adventure story. But only one reality is "experienced". The single line theory, however, is different. What if that single line were a piece of string or rope that could be separated into all of its individual threads that comprise the singular rope? When wound tightly together, it all appears like one line. But if you mess with the rope--get it wet, untwist it, etc, the threads could loosen, fray, or get out of place.
THis is what happened to Desmond. It's not that when his 1996 and his 2004 self were corrected that he suddenly has memories--it's that he can manage both threads--both strands. When Desmond couldn't, he almost died. But when Desmond was able to tighten the rope--by grabbing his constant at both ends..in this case Penny, he was able to come back together. So has time changed? No. Has Desmond lived the last 8 years differently? On one strand, no. On another strand, yes. But he can balance himself now. Basically, time travel is a lot more amorphous than a back to the future scenario. But because Desmond was the only one exposed to the time travel effect, he's the only one who experiences the unwinding. So nothing is different for anyone on the boat or island. Nor is anything different for Penny. Odd though Desmond's request was in 1996 for Penny to let Desmond call her, she has only experienced the one timeline.
Next. Poison gases are made inert. Huh? An inert gas isn't simply a breathable one. Basically, he disabled the computer. So if that was their mission, then why did they need Faraday, a quantum/temporal/physicist dude? Wouldn't a computer programmer, a la Richard Pryor in Superman III, been a better choice? Also, how did he break in to the computer when he kept typing the same damn thing over the same damn monochrome error message?
I do believe that there's more to their presence. They obviously tried to dismantle the gas system because that was the core of disabling Ben's defenses.
SO here's a question: is Tempest Station Smoky? Now, the Tempest involved Prospero, who was shipwrecked and abandoned by evildoers, using the powers of nature (a storm, the titular tempest) to bring people to the island to account for their sins and to seek vengeance. Is Smokey the Tempest? Is this Island Prospero's? Now, Prospero was aided by Ariel, an indescribable, deformed creature saved by Prospero who pledged to do his work. So wecould ask--who is Prospero, and who is Ariel in this story? OBviously an airplane substitutes for a pirate ship. This time.
Here's my current theory. Ben, working for Jacob (who is Prospero), is the hideously loyal creature akin to Ariel. Widmore is the evil king who did something, and Jacob is Prospero, stuck on the island. Jacob summons the evildoers and his kin to the island. Desmond and Penny will be brought together on the island and reunited. Widmore will be held to account.
Other nuggets from today--we learn that there were children survivors, don't we? I mean, who else were the children asking where their mommies were? And why else were there no other children on that plane? Where did they go?
Locke is a stupid sob. Ben relishes in humiliating Locke in front of people, which he does again by telling Hurley and Sawyer that he'll see them at dinner.
What kind of invasion could be planned based on what was seen at the ship? Why wouldn't Widmore send more people?
Why didn't Ben bid on the Black Rock journal? Why would the Hanso foundation reveal this information about the island?
How the freak does Ben communicate with anyone when he is imprisoned?
Note that Locke believes Ben when Ben says his people abandoned him, yet Ben's shrink (who also clearly despises Juliet) is working for Ben.
Why doesn't Kate admit she had to do a trade? After all, she could have asked Farady or Charlotte whether they knew of her past? Kate was also covering for one last hurrah with Sawyer.
Hurley's luck is as strong on the island as he is in the future playing basketball. Why? Why only him? Is he Walt-like in powers, with visions and all?
We all know that Michael is the boat guy. So here are a few things. First of all, why would a man so desperate to leave want to come back, unless Walt was still being held hostage. And why, if he was working ofr Ben, would he help the guys out of the locked cell? Was that a Ben-friendly act? I mean, how could anyone know who would have left the island, landed, and tried to repair communications? And if it was Michael, why hasn't he revealed himself?
And, of course--where's Walt and the polar bears?
That's about it for now.
Kirk out. -
Must have been Locke. Only possible solution. It was his funeral. Think about it -- it's a metaphor--a MAGIC BOX
-
But I earned my damaged memory and perception from years of prescription narcotic use! :D
-
I think Widmore must have some connection to the island--perhaps it is his constant, too. After all, he is more than willing to tell Desmond how to find Penny, although he spent every other second of his life up to that point doing what he could to keep Desmond from her. It's really quite odd, isn't it, that he's so willing to help Desmond on this one thing?
Also, how did Desmond know to go to an auction--and not just ANY auction, but the one auction where WIDMORE WAS where WIDMORE HAPPENED to be buying a journal from the Black Rock?
There's more to the Widmore line. He has a connection to the Island, and therefore, to Desmond. That will come out. Mark my words. -
Jackluet shippers rejoice!
Mark my words, Goodwin's wife was the Smoke Monster.
Mike is the man on the boat, I'm sure. His flashbacks will show him arriving on the freighter. -
I thought Miles was cool from the beginning and Faraday, who I originally thought would be a mediocre throwaway character, surprised me last week. I don't ever hope to care about Charlotte, and I doubt they could do anything with her to change my mind, but anyone have any thoughts on Jeff Fahey's character yet? I've heard the character is a conspiracy theorist who second guesses everything he sees and hears. I've even read about suggestions that he is only there to die by the island or time's course correction.
-
So it helps John when Ben's being a dick, but now with the freighterees being a threat, it'll go back to helping ben, who wants to own the island in his own right.
-
About all those questions? And I thought of a knew one... "Your Mine". Was Ben actually married to Juliet? I don't think they are showing us the whole picture here.
-
New One. Not "Knew one". I need to go to sleep... =P

so now we know what ep the writers were told to hurry up
by geraldbeans
Just finished. Clearly, the writers strike was approaching and they were telling the writers to hurry up. This script was AWFUL. I guess it's only fitting that they follow the best episode in Lost history with the worst. Man, it was almost like everybody got together and said, "Which characters and storylines do our viewers like the least? Let's go ahead and make an episode about them." Ben walking around like a character from LIttle House On The Prarie is the big episode ending "reveal"?? Gawd! Lame!
Oh, and whoever challenged people who say Juliette is boring because she's "strong". Juliette is boring because she's boring. Strong, vulnerable, aggressive, weak - it doesn't matter how the hell she plays it. She's just a boring person. Period. -
Ben is reading VALIS
-
when someone in talkbacks posts an effing huge post... like the multiple paragraphs that we sometimes get (i'm thinking of you captain_kirk) do you folks actually read every word of them??? or do you prefer the smaller, punnier posts which contain new fun words like cuntgoblin which i introduced above much to the delight of a couple of my fellow talkbackers.
-
there goes your ultimate spoiler
-
Whispers. Smoke Monster shows up in form of the "Other Woman"?
-
It looked like him.
-
The only people who give two shits over Obama's middle name (billion Muslims in the world, 'Hussein' being the muslim equivalent of 'Donald') are people who think exactly like you. YOU might be running around in your overalls, choking on your corn cob pipe over it, but those of us with a public school education know better.
Anyway, don't believe a word Ben says. He and Widmore are totally in cahoots. -
last week. It had better character moments.
-
I guess its just me , but I was watchin the first 2 Jurassic Park flicks again just recently, and well it WOULD REALLY SUCK if Charles Widmore is plannin to 'exploit' the island by settin it up as an attraction. Then again Ben has lied in the past and yes, cant help it if I have John Hammond still stuck in my head which for SURE is affectin my theory :P.Still it would be kool if Widmore IS one o the main villains cuz ALAN DALE IS BADASS !!!
About today's episode ; lets just say it was a bit tooooo soapy for my taste. Dont get me wrong , "The Constant" was pretty mushy too but it was canon, I mean Des and Pen WORK.Their tale just has class. Not sayin that Jack and Juliet dont work, but she just started to feel like the town slut in certain parts of this episode.EVERYONE wanted to be with her :P...and I CANT BLAME EM EITHER.
Me curious over the "..because you look like her..." part , what Harper told Juliet. Maybe she reminds Ben of her mother. If that turns out to be the case ,well Juliet's prolly a shape-shifter then...since she ALREADY resembles Sarah :|. -
I bet Ben will kill her at some point. Kate acted weird in the episode. Also, Claire was funny. I bet she gets killed trying to talk to Miles. Also, I think Ben and Locke will finally work together and destroy each other.
-
BTW im sure u guys caught the preview for next week.Apparently the final person of the Oceanic Six is revealed (AND prolly Michael as well). But then again Kate said something about 8 ppl survivin in Eggtown(which I know could be Juliet or Des or BOTH since they werent on the 815 in the first place...but everyone already knew tht :P) What is weird to me is that since they DID advertise next week as the FINAL person being revealed then I guess our count would have to include 'Aaron' AS the 5th person.
Eitherway the show is kickin ALL SORTS OF ASS...AGAIN.Eggtown and todays werent even misfires either, just didnt live up to the CRAAZYY standards this season set up for itself. -
It's awesome that they got Kevin Johnson from the Phoenix Suns on Lost. Glad to see he's running for mayor of Sacramento too. And both Connie Britton and Moira Kelly just turned 40. That would be one milf-tastic threesome.
-
Dont know if you folks followed the mobisodes that aired prior to Se4 (you can easily find em on YouTube btw) but the last one which had Jack's dad 'appearin' to Vincent the dog and tellin him 'to wake up his son , HE HAS WORK TO DO' ... and then the pilot starts. So does smokie take over the form of ppl's thoughts who have just arrived on the island OR Shephard Sr. is much closely connected to the island than we think (he DID appear in Jacob's cabin). Would like to see that aspect explored.DAMN ,CANT HELP IT...LOST IS JUST GETTIN TOOOO FRIGGIN GOOD !!!
-
Said the spider to the fly. Easily Ben's best line on the show. And this episode really belonged to Ben. Nothing was revealed plot-wise tonight that anyone hasn't already speculated about, but it did sort of fill in some holes. (and man, would I like to fill in Juliet's holes!) And does anyone else hope that Jack and Juliet will finally hook-up? And then Sawyer and Kate can be all dirty in the polar bear cage again.
-
Another great inside joke from Ben. I laughed so hard, thinking about The Orchid station video. Seriously, this episode belonged to Ben...
-
A reference to Ben's childhood island sweetheart? Probably. We don't know exactly what happened to her, do we? Was she killed in the purge? By Jacob and/or Smokezilla? By Ben?
-
Please, do go on....
-
Worth it for all the Ben stuff and the new station. The Gas explains the Quaratine stuff but not perhaps the "sickness". We need to see the Roussaue flashback for that.
Locke may eventually get the better of Ben but it's not lookin like it's anytime soon as Ben just keeps gettin built up as a master manipulator and Locke still seems uncertain at times.
The big Widmore "reveal" if anything made me doubt my previous conviction he was the economist but we'll see.
-
station. The two Freighter dudes probably took something from the station and made themselves look good by shutting off the gas. Maybe it's a nuke or something they took, or something else?
-
Hussein.....Hussein! Oh my God.
Oh my God!
Related to Fucking Saddam. God Damn it all. The mastermind of Sept. 11, and his fucking nephew is running for President.
Well not on my watch. People are going to know. Somebody needs to do something. -
Remember Ben's offer he couldn't refuse? And xiphos, I was checking out Juliet's rack before she was Juliet, when she was making out with Angie Jolie in Gia. I think I saw her in something before that, too, but I don't recall because Gia sort of makes you forget other stuff.
-
Sayid didn't have time to cut the wires, etc. He was with Desmond the entire time, and he HELPED Desmond. Would Ben let him do that?
-
Seriously. Loved it. But last week was impossible to beat. This one was really good. Some of the best Ben lines so far, a station we've never seen before, more filling in of back stories... just a ton of stuff. I don't get the griping. Maybe love is just blind because I didn't see anything I hated.
Any news on if Darren Aronofsky will still get a chance at directing an episode. There were plans, I recall, as well as a mention of attempting it again in the future. -
This episode will probably rule the world when I watch it on DVD in a year but right now, I am bored, what the frig? So Widmore sent some peeps to disable Ben's defense systems, great. I didn't learn anyting new about Jules except that she can give me a boner....woooow. Nice boobies.
-
Ben flirtatious, cooking ham, getting jealous, sending rivals to their death, smiling and being attentive, falling in love and still lying through his teeth to the object of his affections, Ben telling her "you're here for me!"Just when you didn't think Ben Linus could get any creepier than he already is, Ben In Love is creepy sick.Ben Linus is the most interesting character on this show and any ten other shows you can name. Will Michael Emerson ever work again after this series ends or will bhe be typecast forever by this one brilliant character?

the man on the boat is Captain Ahab. Call me Fishmeal.
-
Her much discussed cans are so-so in both size and shape if that's what gets you going, and the's marginally not that pretty. But she's still the most interesting, devious, duplicitious, sneaky, untrustworthy, complex, smart-assed, sarcastic, tough and fascinating female character this show has ever had. Kate, on the other hand, should go the way of Joanna - just swim out and sink. Unfortunately we've seen multiple Kate-forwards, so we know the character I'd most like to see die won't.
-
non-spoiler theory: someone goes into the shack, finds Miles wetting his pants, takes the grenade out of his mouth and it blows up, killing them both.
-
tonight. And Eli Stone had major developments, New Amsterdam had some surprising revelations and Lipstick Mafia had a nice Kim Raver fuck scene.
-
The one with the glowing green activated light? Yeah, the batteries are dead. The, um, light is the warning light to let you know the battery is dead. Look over there.
-
or in this case stopping the "kill everyone on the island device" at 2 seconds, could be a very nasty trick. If you have a machine that will kill everying in five minutes, odds are someone will show up with a gun and try to stop you - which was exactly what happened. but if you reset the device so it will kill everyone two seconds after it's reactivited, well, try to stop it then.
-
what information he gave or deal he cut, I find it hard to believe that Locke would let Ben walk around off the leash.
-
I just hope he eventually gets a better sendoof than meeting his end in some Indian ruins in the Southwestern US at the hands of a missile.Call her Harp, or Janet Gavin, Andrea Roth sure knows how to play a bitch. And in another fortunate casting twist, the more and more I watch Charlotte, I just can't picture Kristen Bell in that role, and I liked VM. Sorry to all the KB stalkers here.
-
Does do a nice job as Charlotte , shes pretty hot tooo. Pretty , Pretty , pretty hott..
-
When they mentioned 8 survivors in Kate's flashforward those extra two people were described as people who died after the crash. One was the FBI guy who arrested Kate. You'd think they'd come back and talk about two other survivors they just left behind? Oceanic Six means Six people from the flight officially came back.
-
I love how they're taking Hurley in that direction. His luck with the horseshoes was the EXACT same thing that happened with Walt and the backgammon in season one. The real question, then, is why is the island choosing him?
-
I'm pretty sure the US Marshall wasn't one of the 8. Jack testified that he died in the crash and then later said there were 8 survivors. The two other people might be because dead bodies (of people about to die) were seen or brought back by a rescue team...calling for an explanation.
-
He said the marshal died during the crash, not after it.
-
First, I watched the enhanced episode from last week again last night, and I’m starting to find these useful. For example, it was noted that 2 of the equations on Faraday’s chalk board were time travel and parallel dimension equations.
In homage to something we see each week on the talkbacks, there were parts of this episode that should have been entitled Juliet’s Cans. Wet ones, big ones, proud ones bouncy ones...nice.
Whispers, rain, out of nowhere there’s Harper. And she’s got a message for Juliet...from Ben...who’s still locked up in what’s now Locke’s basement. And the message is Charlotte and Faraday are heading to the Tempest (oh god...Shakespeare? More reading?). And if they figure out how to deploy the gas, everyone will die. Sounds familiar.
And the next line was interesting. Regarding Ben, he’s “exactly where he wants to be.” This is this first time I’ve heard something like that here where I didn’t think the reference was to a physical location at that moment. Seems to me that was more of a anywhere he wants to or needs to be, he’ll get there. Almost sounds biblical, as in God is everywhere. Not saying Ben’s god, though.
And then whispers, turn your head, Harper is gone. I’ve got to figure out how they do that.
Nice to see Goodwin and Tom again.
Okay, Dan and Charlotte are good actors. When she hit Kate over the head and Dan looked at here and she just asked what was wonderful.
There was a signal. When Goodwin came in with the sandwich Juliet said something about meeting with Harper in 10 minutes. She touched he ear. I don’t know if that was an I’m thinking about you, love you, or what signal, but it was one.
Then there was an Annie reference...I think. Juliet looks just like “her”, and that’s why Ben likes Juliet. I think her is Annie.
Ben will hurt Goodwin. And Goodwin dies. More later.
Ben asking if the rabbit had a number on it was hilarious.
And Ben owns Locke. And Locke giving Ben a dollar to get him started on raising the 3.2 was pretty funny too.
Goodwin says to Juliet on the beach, What’s Ben gonna do? Well there Goodwin, Ben owns people. He always has a plan. And Ben is a jealous...well...god? Of course, probably not a god, but he might think he is if he’s able to be anywhere he wants to be.
For anyone that has doubts or misgivings about a major aspect of this show being religious, listen to Ben. He talks about the virgin Mary on a piece of toast, 5000 people, the miracle of John walking, and asks how many people would come to see that. In Ben’s mind, probably in Johns too, they are in the garden of Eden...and I’m not so sure they aren’t right.
Ben said something very interesting when he pulled out Widmore’s file. “This is everything I know about Widmore. Some of it’s vague, some of it’s guesswork, some of it’s concrete, “ If it’s vague and guesswork, how can you KNOW it?
Speaking of knowing, Locke wants to know the man on the boat, and Ben advises him to sit down. I think I know. More later.
Charlotte and Faraday really are the good guys. They know about Ben killing everyone in the purge, and they are rendering the gas inert. And Charlotte makes reference to everyone on the island dying. So now we can look back to last year’s season finale where Ben said the same thing. He warned Jack not to contact the boat. And now we see Ben knew what he was talking about...because he intended to keep the island a secret even if it meant killing everyone on the island.
And he’s an evil bug eyed bastard. He showed Juliet the dead Goodwin. And he admitted he knew it was going to. That he arranged it. Because he owns Juliet. She’s his. And he’s angry about it all and that she doesn’t understand why without asking.
And now Jack is the new Goodwin.
So what have we learned so far tonight? Ben is jealous. Ben is angry. Ben is vengeful. Ben is where he wants to be. Biblical enough for you?
Oh, and BTW, Hurley being lucky at horseshoes...it ain’t luck.
Last thing comes from the previews for next week. The man on the boat...I think it’s...I mean they said we’d see a face we never expected to see again. Who? Well I think...Spoiler Alert Spoiler Alert Spoiler Alert Spoiler Alert Spoiler Alert Spoiler Alert Spoiler Alert Spoiler Alert Spoiler Alert Spoiler Alert Spoiler Alert Charlie Spoiler Alert Spoiler Alert Spoiler Alert Spoiler Alert Spoiler Alert Spoiler Alert Spoiler Alert Spoiler Alert Spoiler Alert Spoiler Alert Spoiler Alert Spoiler Alert Spoiler Alert
Looked like it in the previews when you slow it down.
-
I finally got something right. Okay, so dumb question but we knew Ben was a manipulating jerk, but not to the extent we see in the flashbacks. So the question is why didn't Juliet let him die on the table? She's a total wuss. Woman scorned, I think not.
-
darlton said on the latest podcast that it's basically irrelevant who the other two were, so i'm thinking they were just minor characters used to enhance kate's heroism.
-
After this episode it makes me wonder if Ben told Ana Lucia about Goodwin with the intention of having him killed, and then instructed Michael to kill her to cover up any connection she had to him?
-
Only one thing to say: MAN, JULIET HAS SOME NICE CANS! It seems the producers go out of their way to drive home that point each week. Juliet on the beach with the Losties...NICE CANS Juliet in the rain with Jack...NICE CANS Juliet swimming with Goodwin...OH My NICE CANS Juliet leaning over to mourn Goodwin...NICE CANS Each week they out do themselves. It gets better and better. Maybe next week we will get that reanactment of Gia with Juliet and Kate, or Sun since it is a Sun episode. Juliet's cans should win an award for best supporting duo in a fictionalized drama. I'd give her my Oscar.
-
...doing the whole insecure and "lost" act. But I have a feeling that Ben knows he's being played, and is playing back. He's a clever one.
-
like Ben. Just when you think you got him figured out he comes back at you.
-
I want in that club. Free membership to the Claire's Ass in Tight Slacks (CATS) club as recompense.
Capt Kirk - that could have bee the cure to cancer, but I'll never read it all without eyes crossing.
"less than" P "greater than" for line breaks for the love of God.
I love Lost. Episode was quality TV. Hour well spent and all that. But if I HAD TO rank 'em, this would finish just above Eggtown. 2nd least fav of the year. But still 7/10 in coomparison to all the other shite out there. -
I haven't read all the posts but heres my thoughts... I was expecting to see harper die in one of those flashbacks...there was something not right about her when she was talking to Juliet. Is she the smoke monster? Was that the Orchid Station? There wasn't much there to show it was. Anyone get a screen cap of the dharma logo for it? I thought they all called it the Tempess? Is Widmore the Economist? Seems to be so. Isn't it a little too obvious for Michael to be the man on the boat? Maybe it is someone else we aren't expecting. The freighters have that whole "we're doing this for your own good, but we'll act like were bad and attack you, but in the end we will act like we are good again, and we just dont like to tell you what is going on" thing that the Others seem to do so well. (Thats getting kinda old). If the freighters are working for Widmore then they must be bad (but are they working for Widmore? Can we trust Ben?) "See you guys at dinner" best new phrase, I may have to change my screen name. The whispers were out in full force tonight, anyone know what they were saying? I'm sure someone will slow it down or something.
-
Anyone with half a memory and who paid any attention to the online Lost game would know that Widmore Industries was contracted to build the various stations on the island for the Dharma group. So that's how Widmore knows *about* the island. Why he "lost" it and had to re-find it remains a bit questionable, but we can assume the Dharma group put his people there is secrecy for the construction and removed them the same way. Perhaps once he understood the mysteries of the island,.... as a rich powerful bastard he has likely coveted it ever since.
-
is the next person on Ben's hitlist for Sayid. dundundun...
-
that's interesting. Which ARG was that? I never really played any of them...
-
Doesn't mean that only six of our favourite heroes are the only ones to survive , but it does mean that a few of our griends will end up stuck on that friggin island.
Spoiler alert ---------
Michael is on that damn boat -
To send Juliete a message? Big implications.
-

Can't believe you guys don't think Widmore's the real badguy
by guy who got a headache and accidentally
The guys an asshole. I can't see him doing a face turn like Ben. Maybe he's not the head bad guy, although I doubt, but I definitely don't see him being ambiguous about jack shit. And for christ sake he's penelope's dad, the classic bad guy right there.
-
The island gotta eat!
-
Not smokie either. And it was really Ben that visited her. Probably a future Ben went back, told her what was happening and gave her orders to give to Juliet.
Remember the line "He's exactly where he wants to be?" That wasn't referring to he's happy to be locked up in a basement. It means if he needs to be somewhere he'll be there. -
Since Juliet resembles Annie (we assume Harper meant Annie when she referenced "her")that means Annie was saved form the Purge as she is known by at least one of the Others. So she presumably joined Ben. Were she and Ben married? Did she get pregnant? Did Ben force her to leave the island or did she die trying to concieve. Could Charlotte be Ben's man on the boat because she is he and Annie's child? Purge/timeline wise it works out...
-
Imagine a curtain all aroudn the Island, and different folds in that curtain cause a different amount of time to be displaced when you pass through it. Hence Farraday's rocket only being delayed 31 minutes, but Desmon'd chopper being delayed 17 hours or so.
So... why did a big pallete of Dharma food fall from the sky when Dharma hadn't been around for 15 years?
It went through a particularly shitty fold, and its delay was 15 years. -
I have a hard time imagining that people watch Eli Stone. I tried twice and it was so bad it was painful.
Also, Kim Raver freaks me out. She's so freakishly skinny that she looks like one of the aliens that made clones in Star Wars.
Compare: http://tinyurl.com/2up3l6 http://tinyurl.com/22h7m5
-
That's all.
-
...for a taller Walt due to Malcolm David Kelley going through puberty.
-
Ben got Annie pregnant before he knew about any of the pregnant-lady-killing properties of the Island. She subsequently died and thus Ben has been obsessed with this Fertility problem. Hence why Richard Alpert said it was a Distraction to Locke.
-
That is my own theory on Annie and Ben's obsession with the fertility problem. It totally makes sense.

I think the Tempest really does power the entire island, and the deadly gas is either a by-product or component of the station's reaction. Like it isn't made for the sole purpose of a chemical weapon, kind of just an unfortunate result. Ben had the great idea of releasing this across the whole island to carry out the Purge. Goodwin probably worked at the Tempest?
-
My thoughts on the Tempest (so, likely incorrect):
Goodwin was hiding the burn because people were being told it was a power station when it housed chemical weapons.
I think the countdown was triggered on accident by the attempted shutdown of the gas. It seem to work this way often on TV or in movies. You have a deadly thing (bomb, chemical weapon, biological weapon) and when someone unauthorized tries to disable it, it immediately turns on the kill everyone mode, which can only be disabled in the final 5 seconds before mass destruction.
As for why there are vats of deadly chemicals, I'm not so sure. Is it there just to kill stuff? Is it for a specific purpose, but used for evil by Ben? Is the Tempest actually the water tretment plant and it was chlorine gas? This part wasn't explained well, but then I don't really know what function most of the stations originally served either. (Wait, the gas is used to kill the polar bears when they escape...or to make the smoke monster.) -
You could be right, but I'm thinking some of it's tied more into what we saw last week.
If you think about it, Des was in 1996 and 2004 simultaneously. Existing in 2 times more so than time travel. So Ben may be able to do that as well. That's why I say it was really Ben that told Harper.
Earlier this year Ben told Locke he didn't know what the monster was. So I don't think they are working together.
So if I'm correct about Ben actually telling Harper, about Ben being ANYwhere he wants to be, then it may not have been smokie.
If I'm right, and we both know I could be wrong, then somehow the others can pop in and out of places. I don't know how, but my speculation is it has something to do with the Temple. -
Forgive me if this has been pointed out, but I'm pretty sure this episode was unaffected by the strike, seeing as how it was in the can well before it.
-
Uh how about whispers as "they've been part of the show since season 1 and obviously are significant"?
-
So if we get Michael back, than two episodes from now is going to be pretty kick ass. What if he suffers from the time sickness like Des and when he goes back he doesn't kill Libby and Ana Lucia. Sure that won't happen but hey just a thought.
-
"that means Annie was saved form the Purge as she is known by at least one of the Others."
Or there are pictures of her from before the purge.
Or Harper was originally part of Alperts group and they knew or knew of Annie.
or...
-
This episode had a tough act to follow after the Desmond episode but I my main complaint is how easily Locke is manipulated by Ben, is he that gullible? I liked the return of the poison gas which must have killed Rousseau's group (were they sent by Widemore too?) I wanna know how the Freighter Four know so much about the island, a spy perhaps? I partially believe Ben about Widemore, here's a wacky thought: What if Widemore is the only survivor of the Black Rock as mentioned at the auction last week, and he was reclaiming his own journal?? The Others seem long lived maybe he is too and is trying to find his way back to the island? And why was Ben concerned about a rabbit with a number on it? Did he see the Darma video too?
-
When did we learn that?
-
I've loved the last four episodes but this episode left a little lacking. I can understand why Charlotte didn't trust Kate and knocked her out (Kate did stay behind at John's camp after all), but why didn't she just tell Jack that she was going to shut off some deadly gas? Can anyone shed some light on this?
-
To continue...if I can remember it all.
Then again, Juliet was scanned by smokie, so Harper could be a manifest. But why would smokie want Juliet to pull the trigger. As far as we know, Charlotte nor Dan had been scanned. No redemption was asked for, and that does seem to be a pattern for smokie. Seems to me it's more of a Ben thing since he wanted them not to be there anyway.
So if I'm right, and we both know I can be wrong, then the others can pop in when they want to. I don't know how, but to fathom a guess, it's got something to do with the temple. Maybe they can "see" things from there and get to different places or cause things to happen.
That would be an interesting aspect for the temple, huh. -
Harper is probably Ben's therapist. That's why she is so afraid of him. She knows how truly psychotic he is. It's also probably why she knows about Annie, cuz undoubtedly Ben has talked about her alot, and maybe has seen pictures of her? Or Juliet kind of looks like Ben's mom too...
-
Ok, I remember Ben screaming that at Jack about Ethan being their surgeon.
They did say that he was working at the Tempest and that Ben had him doing it. They mentioned where he worked early in the episode and then on the beach he mentioned that Ben trusted him because he had him working with chemicals that could kill the entire island with the flip of a switch. You may have been distracted by Juliet's breasts in that scene, however. -
Was great, huh
-
The talkback has gotten huge so I don't know if this has been brought up, but every episode this season(exluding Desmonds wierd mind/time traveling) has flash forwarded to the future.
Julianne flashed backwards only. This may hint that she has no future and never got off the island.
Maybe she even dies, who knows, that could have been her in the coffin that nobody but Jack visited early on. -
confirmed dead was a freighter flashback
-
I meant Juliet, not Julianne
-
Just some random thoughts... during the purge didn't they use cannisters of gas instead of a mass release of gas to kill off the Dharmaites? I guess the chemical burn and other comments by Goodwin seemed to show that there were actually really bad chemicals in the Tempest station - maybe it is where power was generated, but also held some highly toxic chemicals (perhaps as a last resort in case of outside invasion (?) and now the "bad guys" are free to invade in larger numbers?) Just reading a synopsis of the Tempest by Shakespeare (need to do some more reading here,) there are many parallels between the LOST storyline and an illusion used to kill enemies on a ship - the freighter folks knew exactly how to find the Tempest station and must have had some knowledge of the inner workings in order to disable it. I think the "3.2 million" conversation between Miles and Ben was defintely some kind of code - perhaps a bearing (320?) or frequency of some kind; I think his outburst about Miles wanting for find Ben was a front for the fact they are working together. The message Juliet flashed to Jack about killing Ben appears to be more genuine now in retrospect. Ben does appear to be exactly where he wants to be. The urgency of Sun getting off the island or dying will surely be the focus of the next episode.
-
But wasn't that just to introduce the new characters?
Oh well, I'm just happy this season is better than last season. I hope they can have more episodes as fun to watch as 'The Constant'. -
Great Episode !!! Not as great as the last few but they might have been the greatest Episodic TV moments since JR got shot. If this came before last weeks there wouldn't be so much hate. The Ben moments were fucking chiling. Seeing the shit eatin grin on his face as he skips back to his house, the creeping ham carving scene. Ben is Emperor Palpatine crossed with the little boy from Twilight Zone. Definately on the MT. Rushmore of genre villians with Khan, Palpatine, Lu Feng (from the Venoms films) and Bruno Ganz Hitler from Downfall. This shit is going to heat up real fast and the Whitmore relavation was huge as well. Plus Juliet is one hot piece of snapper and her knockers always glisten nicely with sweat.
-
Darlton confirmed in an interview that the Dharma village was killed by a deadly gas that was different than the cannister Ben used to kill his dad.
-
I think the confusion arises when Daniel tells Charlotte "It's just Kate" when she points her gun at Kate. I think they could have made it clearer that Charlotte doesn't trust the islanders while Daniel does.
I also felt that the first episode split was a little forced. As noted in last nights episode, all Charlie said was that it was not Penny's boat, not that there was any malicious intent. They could assume that since the rescuers did lead them to believe Penny was behind their rescue. However, I think a little more debate and reasoning could have cleared up why John's group distrusts the rescuers.
That being said, I absolutely loved the last four episodes. It's been amazing to see this show's plot move (relatively) fast. Little answers and surprises are popping up in each episode. You can really tell things are going to speed up. My only request is that they still stick a lighthearted episode in every once in a while. -
Killing Daddy was personal for Ben.
-
I know that Locke has a history of being conned, but enough is enough already. Anybody who's been conned that much would stop trusting everyone and everything altogether. Perhaps he has an ulterior motive for releasing Ben, but I suspect it was just lazy writing.
Also, I have a lot less respect for Ben knowing that his motivations are so base. Turning him in to some sort of stalker, while creepy, makes his character less interesting IMO.
I despise Kate's character. I've always thought she's the most boring fictional character ever devised. But WTF was up with her catching on to Daniel and Charlotte and then turning her back on Charlotte to look in the bag? I thought for sure she was setting Charlotte up, but no, she's that stupid apparently.
Not a great episode, but still worlds better than most of season 3 so I guess I can't complain...much. -
Who says we dont get answers in this dam show..
as Gnadalf once said teh board is set and the peices are moving, we have found out who one of teh main bad guys is, Mr Charles Windyface.....
my person hope is that Ben sneaks more survivors off teh Island and Desmond get sweet revenge on Charles by killing a great man...Des wins and get to ride the daughter of the man he just killed....god I love this show -
good to see you my friend
-
he was listed in the last two episodes as 'credit only' but in the next two, that tag is taken off. So does that mean he will be back next week on screen?
Did Harold Perrineau even do anything since his disappearance from LOST?
He is on the freighter, right? You guys probably have already talked about this stuff though way on early in the talkback... -
Looking ahead, with Jack being Juliet's new Goodwin, Ben being jealous etc., do you think maybe some of the O6 were banished from the island...as in never to return. Weren't Adam and Eve, the real ones, banished from the garden of eden?
-
I slowed that down this morning and couldn't make it out. Ben said it was one of his men, but they didn't look familiar.
-
I bet Goodwin never beat the living hell out of Ben over and over.
I'm sure Ben hates Jack 'a little bit' more than Goodwin, ha. -
i bet michael will come onscreen at the very end of next week's episode right before the smash cut to ::boom:: 'LOST'
-
He's not supposed to come back until Ep8. At least, that's what they say.
-
I'm sure Alex is right, he'll appear in the last 3 seconds of episode 8, making 9 his full re-appearance.
IMDB shows that he's listed on episode 8 while on the previous episodes, he's only in the credits.
What about Walt now?
Their exits from the show still have me wondering. And I bet their dog is super massive lonely!!! -
It was frakkin' brilliant compared to this boring drivel. The peaks and valleys of this show are really frustrating.
-
Sure and I can completely concede those points. But please don't tell me to STFU. You're like the Pete Campbell to my Don Draper, man!I guess I'm starting to grow a little tired of ham-fisted motivations that are inconsistent with previous character development. And I'm also leary of what feel like hasty mini-resolutions while the overall story seems to have stalled. But I'm sure we'll see more trekking through the jungle, more guns pointed at people's heads, and more inexplicable dialog that makes one think we're going somewhere big...but we actually don't.Don't get me wrong; I've been a fan of the show since Ep-1. But when this show spins its wheels, it really spins its wheels. Sometimes, it just gets too cute.
-
I think this was more of a Ben flashback than a Juliet one. We learned a lot more about Ben through the flashbacks then we did Juliet. Creepy little bastard. But god i love him. I know if i was on the island he would have me doing all sorts of manipulative crap. Was the Tempest the same as the orchid station? I don't see the connection. Harper was smokie or what ever takes the form of others. Why would Ben keep the Widmore video in a safe? Just asking. The Michael on the boat reveal will be one of the least shocking reveals so far. I hope it is someone else, but I doubt it. Everyone knows it will be him.
-
why wouldn't that have killed all wildlife on the island?
or did it - other than a few animals we now attribute to the smoke monster, have we actually seen any animals?
Why to people put *SPOILER* tags around their own personal guesswork? SPOILERSPOILER the man on the boat is Homer Simpson SPOILERSPOILER
Isn't Bacci the guy who bared his ass in the Ledger talkbacks? Why are you even responding to him?
I think the man on the boat is Walt all grown up. "John, the man on the boat is the guy who left the island a month ago" isn't "you should sit down" quality material. Its got to be something nutty, that Ben needed to build it up like that. So either its something way out of left field like an adult Walt, or someone already dead, or they completely over-wrote that scene. -
The whole stopping the timer at one second is so overdone and cliche I had to roll my eyes. This was definitely a slower episode but it did have some cool things such as the prominent return of the whispers and the “official” reveal it was Widmore’s freighter. Plus we got to see just how creepy Ben really is and how Juliette truly does despise him. I think the big problem was the ending didn’t end on a big shocker like most of the eps so it was somewhat of a letdown.
-
Yeah, I was/am sorry about that. Should have been Possible Spoiler Alert Possible Spoiler Alert Possible Spoiler Alert Possible Spoiler Alert Possible Spoiler Alert Possible Spoiler Alert Possible Spoiler Alert Possible Spoiler Alert Possible Spoiler Alert Charlie Possible Spoiler Alert Possible Spoiler Alert Possible Spoiler Alert Possible Spoiler Alert Possible Spoiler Alert Possible Spoiler Alert.
Hope that makes up for it. -
Yeah, stopping it at 1 second is overdone. That's why they made it stop with 2 seconds left.
You're right though, it is horribly cliched, and I made jokes about how the system works earlier because it was so cliched. (we can do paragraph breaks, now I need to learn to do accent marks in talkbacks) -
Did anyone else think Harper looks like a younger version of the sherif, Isabel. I think she looks like her. Maybe she is her and she aged a lot by the time "Stranger in a Strange Land" takes place. I'm probably reaching a bit, but she looked similar.
-
It's Desmonds fault Widimore knows about the Island. In "The Constant" Des tells Penny "I'll call you in 8 years, I'll be on an island." She tells Daddy, Daddy gets interested in the connection, and there ya go.
-
If that were the case then why would Widmore have been bidding on the journal from the Black Rock before Desmond met up with Penny.....
-
I don't think he said anything about being on an island, he just said he wouldnt call for 8 years and it was extremely important she answer.
-
it looks like Charles Widmore already had an interest in the island before Desmond and Penny's meeting because he spent loads of cash in that auction just to get his mitts on the Black Rock's First Officer's log. This isn't telltale evidence he knows about the island, but it still suggests he knows about the black rock, and maybe knows it's on the island. Also it's been revealed that the Widmore Corporation has ties to the Hanso Foundation and Paik Heavy Industries
-
I agree with you, most of these posts should have spoiler warnings, sorry about that. But it is not unreasonable to assume that the 'millions of people not on the net' wouldn't really be reading this talkback? And SPOILER**********
Michael's return in the upcoming episodes have been out in the ABC press releases. It isn't really a spoiler that ABC has been that tight lipped about...
But you're right, it is still spoiler warning worthy info. -
love the norm idea...the fact I drink as much as Norm would help alot too...haha
hey rb how u keeping mate? and of course all the rest of the room 23 alumni..
I love teh way Lost can do a killer episode like last weeks and then not even touch on it this episode..just like real life, there is mad shit happening to people lives all around us and were non the wiser whats happending.. -
Ha! Sorry about that buddy. I'll send The Wolf over to take care of that mess for you.As for the Draper reference, Node knows what I'm talking about.
-
Sorry if this has already been said but I seem to remember a line where Juliet was said to be a reminder of Jacks ex/wife. It was in one of the first episodes of season 3. I don't remember the exact line but it would be very odd indeed if Ben's "her" is also Jack's ex/wife. Not likely I'm sure, but Juliet has now been compared to two significant others. No pun intended. Then again it could just be Annie.
-
This show is GREAT! With the exception of Battlestar Galactica, I think that this is the first time that a sci fi serial drama has ever captivated me so intensely! LOST has been one hell of a ride -- but I have enjoyed it!
-
I was going into this season fresh of any spoilers.....like the Aaron as Kate's 'him' was absolutly no shock at all, but to the millions of fans it was a 'holy fuck' moment
Kinda the same last night with Winmore, I was half expecting it from talking in these forum's and other internet sites, so it wasnt as big of a reveal to me.... -
Widmore buys the Black Rock Diary before Des tells Penny to call him in eight years. Wake up!
-
Ha! Careful there, Roger. Too much excitement and you might have another heart attack. And yes, I know how this show works all too well. I'm afraid that's why I find it so frustrating when they seem to get sidetracked with new characters, inconsistent character development, etc. But like a fucking gorgeous muse, this show keeps me coming back for more.
-
We all seem to think that the her Juliet reminds Ben of is Annie. But Jack's ex never said who the new man was, did she? Suppose Ben used "time travel" to set up Jack for failure in his relationships.
Maybe/probably not right, but still an interesting thought. -
this time next week I will be starting teh 3 day drink binge that will probably kill me..haha
straight after next weeks lost im hitting the pub and will be in it, only to return home and shower and sleep, for the following 3 days...it will be emotional my friend -
love their live shows...anyway, you brought up a good point about how Ben pointed out to Jack how Juliet looks like his ex-wife as well. I just think it's interesting if Ben actually becomes jealous of Jack, it's really his own fault because he set them up to be all buddy-buddy in the first place
-
I started out preferring BSG, but episode 2.1 of Lost changed that. And now with the hideous ending to S3 of BSG, compared to the great ending to Lost S3, and the fact that Lost is off to the races thus far ... BSG will have to pull off a miracle to even get out of shark-jumping land.
-
A few people asked why Charlotte and Daniel ran off by themselves to shut down the gas. I think it's partially because they don't know if they can trust Jack and Kate. Like Claire said, everyone tends to come off a little hostile. Incidentally, for anyone bitching about Claire's "lack" of mourning for Charlie, could it just be a GASP character trait? Could it be that she's GASP more concerned with Aaron's safety and getting off the island? Anyway... So they don't trust Jack and Kate. Also, they probably don't want to have to explain about the gas. They want to render it inert so that Ben can't use it on them (ostensibly). But if they say to Jack and Kate, "we have to turn off this gas", they're going to have to explain what the gas is for, why they think Ben will use it, how THEY know about the gas, etc. Those characters, particularly Daniel, are obsessed with their mission. Just like Miles. So it's easier to just lose Jack and knock out Kate. Which also reminds me. Get over it, Kate fans. She slipped up and got knocked the fuck out. GOOD. She's not the all-seeing eye. Every time someone clobbers her, ESPECIALLY Juliet, I loose a cheer.
-
I did see his name in the credits, but I often ignore that because people are credited when they aren't on the show. I had just assumed that was the situation here until Ben started the tape, and I suddenly realized, "Oh, that's why he's listed in tonight's cast."
-
I, too, am a Juliet fan. I don't know how anyone can find her story boring. Particularly now with the Ben obsession. Oh, and that episode made me rescind my membership to Ben's Club. I still love the character, but I had forgotten that yes, he's kind of an evil dude sometimes.
-
The reasons for my love/hate relationship were both in evidence last night. I loved the creepy visit of the probably supernatural therapist in the jungle of whispers (yes! the whispers are back!) and then I hated the ridiculous contrivance of and further weaking of John Locke's character by having him make the giant decision to release Ben from capitivty off-screen. R U fucking kidding me?! And then having Jack (the most stubborn person on the island say, "Yeah, I'll just the two completely untrustworthy boat-people at their word. I won't even go into the newly found Dharma complex. I'm cool out here." It's just stupid writing. And coming on the heels of such an excellent episode (Desmonds') it's really infuriating. I fucking hate LOST, but... I also also fucking love it.
-
I never really understood the point of those complaints, considering all that is going on. However, I think that should be put to rest by the look in her eyes when Locke tried to use Charlie's words against her last night. The combination of pain and anger suggested that she might set Aaron down and tear Locke limb from limb for daring to use Charlie as a tool to get his way.
-
the s3 ending wasn't that bad...but it did kind of feel tacked on and out of the blue. The whole trial of baltar was laughable but I'm no expert on Colonial court proceedings ;). I also didn't like how Apollo renounced his position in the military to be a lawyer only to easily hop into a viper at the very end of the episode like nothing changed. I hope they actually address him quitting his rank in season 4.
-
Yeah, it's pretty obvious who Ben's man on the boat is now, but who is to say he doesn't have a man on the island too? Miles had informantion about Kate's past because Ben does. People working for Widmore aren't even sure who is still alive from 815.
-
Jack didn't take the two untrustworthy people at their word. What you were supposed to get from that was that Juliet said they were ok, so Jack instantly bought in while Kate needed to see for herself.
Locke made the decision to release Ben while watching the tape. The only off-screen part was after Ben told him to sit down and then told him about the man on the boat. They wanted to save that reveal for the next episode, and it didn't have a direct impact on this one. It didn't matter what Ben said about the guy. He could have said, his name is Bob and he is from Chicago and Locke would still have released him because he belives that he and Ben want the same thing. Locke is being played by Ben because Ben knows him better than anyone else. He knows everything there is to know about Locke, and he understands the position that Locke is in because he's been there himself. Locke has been searching for guidance the entire time on the island. Sure, he can hunt and track, but he has no clue what the big picture is. He thought the hatch was the answer, but then lost his faith and destroyed it. He thought Jacob and taller ghost Walt would guide him, but he can't find the cabin again. Without something to guide him, he is desperately reaching out to anything and anyone and the only one available who can help him is Ben. He may wonder if Ben has his own plan, but Ben is the master manipulator who, in his own words, controls someone by "finding out what he's emotionally invested in and using it against him." Ben has used Jack, Locke, Sawyer, every single one of the Others, Michael and in the future, will use Sayid by doing exactly that. Locke is emotionally invested in Locke. He wants to feel special and to have people believe in him. Ben gave him that and the potential to lead, so he took it. It's no coincidence that in The Brig Ben used Locke's own words and said, "Don't tell me what I can't do, John." -
is made even weirder by the fact that his mom was played by Michael Emerson's real life wife.
-
Is he drinking Dharma or Duff beer?
-
That was a very nice one sentence explanation/refutation of guyinthebackrow's post, which took me several hundred words to refute.
I think I need to work on being succinct. -
What makes me laugh is that the people complaining about the "boring" eps are the ones who want the answers. How will they get the answers if every episode is DIE HARD: WITH A HARD-ON. You need exposition to tell a story, no two ways about it.
-
HOW?=Physics / Science.
WHY?=Meta-physics / Faith.
How leaves one with theories to test..Why leaves one with questions to ask. The When, Where, What, Who ..just data points framing the primary questions. "It's not enough to know how things work on a starship..you have to know why things work."
This was a why episode, gotta have both,...still a decent epi. Rank'em so far as epi 5,3,2,1,6,4..

*And Locke keeps getting owned by Ben (and others), because though he can be tactically competent, he is not danger close to being the strategic thinker he wishes / believes himself to be. Tactics change. Strategy is immutable. Locke may have good ideas on how to cut down a tree, but he rises to his level of incompetence when required to formulate the right and proper manner to clear the forest. Same such Jack. The strategic thinkers, the two who have shown a real propensity to this dimension of thinking are Sayid and Sawyer..Sayid is gone so..Sawyer will rise to be the leader of all and is destined to wear the crown on a troubled brow..I tells ya.
*Whispers are an echo of the effects of the 'transportive' issues.
*If Locke would need to sit down for the Ben Boat Boy (trademark) reveal, ask who would shock Locke? yeah it gotsta be Fro-michael ..or walt, his father, boone...vincent..yes,it is Fro-michael. Better question is how has ben beeen in contact with the boat?..and Jin dies in a flashforward..the O-6 are all eventually going to have a reason to go back...and Libby worked for Widmore...just a guess.
John YaYa and John Smallberries approve...John Bigboote abstained. -
about her and Aaron's survival to appropriately mourn for Charlie, but I do wish he would pop up more often. His death was a big moment in the show and last night was the second time his name was dropped. I do think the exchange between Claire and Locke was a nice way to bring up his memory, even if it was as a means to attack Claire. Most of the problems I've ever had with the show usually get smoothed over when I rewatch the episodes on DVD. I think that it has only been a few days since Charlie's death, so it is likely his death is still sinking in.
-
...and you haven't read The Tempest you are really missing the freighter here.
If you don't want to read it, Netflix it or even Forbidden Planet.
I don't think it will be an adaptation of The Tempest in the end, but there's no way around those parallels. I spend every episode re-evaluating who is who. Prospero is Ben. Alex is Miranda. Rousseua is Sycorax. Jacob is Settebos. Caliban is Locke, or Ethan...Ariel is Cerberus/Smokezilla... pretty solid on that.
Just sayin. -
Does anyone else remember how the fortune teller told Claire nobody else could raise her baby? I wonder if that revelation will ever be revisited?
-
Is Locke's greatest strength and his greatest weakness. It's why he is favored by the Island, and a chump suckered by every con he meets.
-

I have little problem believing that Locke was suckered by...
by rbatty024
Ben. He was suckered by his dad after all. I think the show is too smart to have one of those crappy "you just have to have faith" messages. I would love to see Locke find out he was being used by the Island for some nefarious means at the end of the series. Or perhaps the Island is made up of good and evil forces and Locke has been working for the evil ones.

Are there any sluts in this chat??
by biff and the watchful midget master
I'm looking for some seriously hot talk.
-
Yes. That's me. I said that.I am the Third Revelation!
-
You are also the final cylon.
-
"You are also the final cylon."Hmmm, I don't know. I'd say the odds are heavily against it. But if I start singing lines from "All Along the Watchtower", you'll know my programming has finally kicked in.
-
Sawyer and Hurley will be next to go.
-
Yes, I am both of those and more! My birthday? 2012!!!
-
You have not helped with my hatred. Jack should NOT trust Juliet. Locke should NOT trust Ben. Search your feelings. You know this to be true.
-
yet, he gets a free pass.
-
Well, as far as the actual progression of the show goes, I'd say no as well (In fact, I think RDM has pretty much said that), but it just seemed like the joke to make at the moment.
I'd love to see someone on Lost start singing All Along the Watchtower, just to screw with our heads. They've already had someone sing at least once on the show (Sawyer's version of a Bob Marley song...Redemption's Song?). -
Ben has claimed that he and the "Others" are the "good guys." What if this is true? This has long been theorized as being one of the few things that Ben says that has the ring of truth to it. But what if it really is true? What if Ben is not out to save the island -- but out to save the world? What if Ben has been working for years to use the island's unique abilities to change the future? We know that Desmond can take a few "quantum leaps." During these leaps, he met a sinister woman who told him that he cannot change the future. What is she is part of some organization (one of several) that have discovered the unique ability of the island to cross TIME/SPACE? The Black Rock. DHARMA. Hanso. Whidmore. Are these simply groups that either worked alone (or as a group) in order to find and use the island's power to rule the world? In the first ARG, we learned about the Valenzetti Equation -- a mathematical equation that could predict the end of the world. DHARMA and HANSO, of course, were linked to this equation. Where they planning a mass holocaust in order to change the variables of the equation, and somehow cause THE GREATER GOOD? Is the work of the "Others" somehow tied to a group of people that are trying to prevent the holocaust? Perhaps they feel that the future can be changed, and that there is another way (rather than mass extermination)? We know that the island effects the birth of babies. Is it possible that Ben desperately wants this "fixed" in case future generations will need to exist which will stop the exploitation of the island's power and future annialation and holocaust? Is this why Ben and good ol' Sayid (the human lie detector) will try desperately to KILL OFF certain members of society? Is this why Jack will desperately want to return to the island? Interesting theory? Comments?
-
So what's the significance of the different color inks used to x off the dates gone by? Did Minkowsky keep the calendar? Are they future/past/present/unknown designations?
-
let's discuss the movie ROADHOUSE! Lost is for pussys...
-
Locke should not trust Ben. Absolutely true. That's why I explained why Locke does trust Ben. Ben may have claimed to be giving up the last bargaining chip he had, but Locke was reaching out to the only person who could guide him.
Jack shouldn't trust Juliet. Mostly true. She lies, admits to it, then lies again and admits to that. She is willing to do anything to get what she wants (off the island and to keep her sister and niece safe). However, Jack has to fix broken women. Jack trusts Juliet because she needs someone to help her. The more independence Kate has shown, the less Jack wants/needs her.
You are right that they shouldn't trust these people, but those are character flaws not writing flaws. -
While it would be cool that the different color X's mean something, I think it would also be realistic that they just happen to swap markers occasionally in that room. A set dresser may have thought...you know having all black X's kinda makes it look like we just took a calendar and X'ed them all right before the scene...in real life, people might carry different markers with them on any given day or week... just a thought
-
Good point alex138. Then again, as set dresser I would've just solved that prob by having the single ghetto bic pen on a string dangling from a wad of duct tape.
That's how I am used to seeing the communal pen for checklists and whatnot. -
Widmore is Sebastian or Antonio.
-
that's true too. usually do see the pen attatched to those type of things.
-
So we were shown Penny's dad bidding on the Black Rock journal because he wants to find the island. He got the journal, didn't he? I assume that was important. We get a super-flashback into the past and it takes place right there at the auction. Maybe his boatrace around the world had a hidden agenda as well. Is he the economist? And was Richard an original crew member of the slave ship? Oh, and for the record, I can't wait to see Michael again. That's a loose thread I've been waiting to see tied up.
-
...shining through. That's why I love you, so don't be afraid to let them show...your true colors.
Whoever just made me have a Cyndi Lauper song stick in my head: I hate you. -
Back to the debate of which of these two are actually evil, it's been brought up that the Dharma Initative had altruistic reasons for being on the island. But we need to remember that Ben betrayed the Dharma Initative, and in fact MURDERED all of them and why? Because he had friggin daddy issues! Granted other stuff may have happened (with Annie or what not) but we know his anger started with his father being a dick... How much of a good guy can Ben be? We know Widmore had ties to the Hanso foundation, so maybe his big interest in the island is to find out what the hell happened to the Dharma Initiative... maybe he lost a big investment...who knows...or maybe the Dharma Initative had ulterior motives and were really evil... either way I think both guys aren't free of the 'villain' label.
-
Swayze gets his ass beat in that show but luckily pain dont hurt and he ends up ripping out a dudes throat. As for
LOST the screencaps i read an interesting thing. Ben said he TAPED OVER the Red Soxs tape, meaning he had to have a live feed to that camera. Strange things are a foot at the Circle K. -
Possibly, but it still leaves the question of how/who recorded the video, and how did it get back to the island.
-
I think we're gonna have to agree to completely disagree. When I wrote earlier that Jack and Locke should NOT trust Juliet and Ben... I was talking about their characters... what we know of Jack and Locke as characters. Jack is very distrustful as a character, thus he should NOT trust Juliet. Locke also should NOT trust Ben... because Ben tried to kill him less than a week ago (island time). Thus, my "bad writing" charge. I'm not saying LOST is a terrible show. I loved the last Desmond episode, but let's by honest... as soon as JJ Abrams left the quality of the show as a whole declined. Instead of getting 12 excellent episodes a season we've been getting 4 or 5.
-
I think Ben is workin with Widmore, unless of course he just happens to have live feeds in every warehouse in the US.
-
In the book Prince Caspian C.S. Lewis tells of a bunch of pirates who sail their way into a different world, a magical world, went native and founded a nation.
Ever since Charlotte showed up I've been seeing Narnian connections all over.
Half-assed prediction: Charlotte will have something to do with The Door Station (the doorway guarded by Others, but which Sayid discovered to be a whole lotta dirt wall)and said Door will be more than it appeared to be last time we saw it. -
...that it was made since he showed it to Jack?
I also got the impression the camera operator ended up like Ben's other operative laying in the street. -
He only had one VHS tape?
-
Just youtubed it, the camera is definately moving so it is a handheld of some kind. I still think its odd it was dubbed on the redsox tape and I definately see that coming into play later on...pretty much like anything else in this show.
-
1. rbrog - Dude, I believe that is a 'fro that steps into view. But that is an AWESOME twist and one that would bring a beloved character back to the show. But as Darlton said - dead is dead. I don't think a character would be ressurected to play a major role (just visions/messages type stuff). Could they explain it in a really cool way? I bet they could, and we never really see Chaaalie dead. But alas, no, won't be him as much as I love your idea.
Chaaalie MUST BE DEAD, because Claire IS MIIIIIIINE!
2. Juliet needs some construction work on the hippage and butt. Great body, little waist, and those WONDERFUL TOYS. But I love a tiny hiney. And she wore shorts and not a bikini bottom for a reason. She has pushed out a kid, cutting her some slack and God knows she is probably muscular, but the pooper is just not as great as the rest.
3. Chicks look better in make-up. OK, no big revelation there, but it really impresses on me that the PTBs are really preventing the LOST women from any touch ups...Hey, many suitcases, lipstick and eyeliner is available I'm sure. Everyday I see women go to the gym at 6am, fully "made-up". Vanity takes many forms. You'd think 1 or 2 of them would feel (heard this from some chick once) "NAKED" without some make-up on. Emilie deRavin needs ZERO make-up to look gorgous...God those baby blues melt me. But when she went goth?!?!?!? That little eyeliner ...can you imagine made up for a Fri night out? Kate in Court looked so beautiful. Juliet's appearance at the start of tonights ep....the "talk" with Harper. She looked wonderful - and there are scenes (outdoor usually) where her blue eyes are also mezmerizing (Yeah, I'm an eyes guy). All of out LOSTie gals are naturally beautiful (I'm CERTAIN a condition of employment). From Emilie - Michelle R., we have lots of beauty. Ana-Lucia's beauty was in her perfect, hard body IMO. Cindy Watros, again, GREAT body...just AVOID HER MUGSHOT!!!! If that is what she looks like morning after, well, there are jokes about gnawing one's limb off and it is THAT bad. I prefer Libby=Desmond boat meeting. Cutie pie. I digress...
3. Juliet's cans are a work of art. Natural art. To all of you who think she is unattractive - check out the TVGuide photo shoot online. Tight black/red/other dresses and made-up like a whore (not quite - just like saying that). Channeling Gob from Arrested Development.
Last week we see people needing other people. Tonight we see what happens when you go from 'NEED' to 'WANT'. BennyBoy WANTS in a bad way. And if he can't have her...no one will.
4. I love BitTorrent. Very cool community and you can feel like you are contributing w/out breaking the law (sometimes).
5. I love you guys on this TB. I used to be "lookie, but no touchie", but this season I am driving you all nuts with my posts. My normal co-workers sneak peaks at porn or Funny or Die - I HAVE to look at what you guys are saying on the LOST post.
5. Back to Ep, I guess "primary objective" was to neutrilize the doomsday gas facility? Maybe not primary, but high on their list I presume due to the outfits and making SURE they had them when they bailed from the chopper. What else is on their agenda???? We know of 3 now...
1. Danny's time dilation rocket experiment
2. Monitor Dan's memory with card memorization exercises (which we know now was a result of becoming unstuck in time).
3. Disable/Neutralize the poison gas at "The Tempest".
4. ???????????????
Darlton swore NO PARADOXES!!! I believe them. But subtle changes to the future are hardly paradoxes. A paradox would be - after meeting Des now in 1996, danny decides NOT to go on the island mission. Hell, his meeting with Des is probably why he accepted the mission (Des brought up the island). But when Dan goes to check his notebook at the end of The Constant and I contend those words (Desmond Hume is my constant) were not in there earlier, but were in there now when he needed them most. As a result of sending Des to Danny's 1996 self, subtle (but impactful) changes were made. He finished his calculations a little sooner since Des gave him the numbers. His meeting gave him the impetus to jot in journal to remind his future self, he would need Des as a constant. What other changes will we see? 42 Eps to find out! Damn I love this show.
Is it Thursday yet? Any arguements about the O-6 END next week. That was one spoiler I wished I had avoided - it has made my posting life miserable. Which leads me to end with this question...
If you could gain access to ONE spoiler regarding the LOST mytharc - what would it be? -
Which means that someone deliberately paid him off to trick her into going on the plane... Or it's just a coincidence, but I don't know why the creators would put the kibosh on that storyline by being like, oh it was all just a red herring. That's silly.
-
The Losties THINK they are the good guys, because they're such nice people, they're just trying to figure out how to get along and make everyone happy. Meanwhile, these Others, who seem so mean, only appear that way to the child-like Losties because their concerns are so much more complex. The Others have to worry not just about making everyone happy but keeping everyone (in the world!) safe from the REAL bad guys, and we all know who they are. MUSLIMS.
Oh wait, that was weird, I think I just channeled some redneck... -

Beat It! and boy does John Locke continue sucking it up. Team Jack!

Okay so this thread was dropped, but I like the theory of Annie growing up and getting preggers by Ben and of course dying. This nicely explains why Ben is so obsessed, he loves the island and was leading a perfect life when this happens which causes him to devote his entire energy to it.
Also explains why he would make off with Alex as a baby. Probably weepy over what he lost and saw a baby and swooshed her away. Then Juliet appears, making it possible for him to complete the family he was supposed to have. -
Harper is THE MOLE. Oh GOD--that hideous mole. It moved around too. Maybe it wasn't a mole--maybe it was a tick- a huge blood engorged tick on her face. Goodwin was using chemicals trying to kill the mole. When Harper disappeared, it was because she got eaten--by THE MOLE. Holy Moley
-
i got a "harper loves ben" vibe, harper was rude right from the get go..goodwin says on the beach, that he had been sleeping on the couch for a year..i think harper was jealous that juliet was brought in for ben because she "looked like her"..mabye she was pushed aside for the lookalike..juliet,what if juliet was the "other woman"..but from harpers perspective, juliet would be ben's other woman, not goodwin's..harper cares enough to not want goodwin hurt by ben,but does'nt really care that juliet and goodwin have been doing the grointhrustfest
-
Why would she keep sleeping with Goodwin AFTER she got her shit handed to her by Harper?
BTW, Harper looks hotter on Rescue Me. That shit took me a minute to figure out who it was. -
By Ben.
-
Whenever the psychiatrist was on screen it was all I could fucking look at. Now that they have a doctor on the island you would think she would have had that thing taken care of. I bet she was hoping a dermatologist instead of a spinal surgeon crashed on the island.
-
Regardless of Ben's info, how will that help Locke. How many episodes will it take for Locke to somehow let Desmond know that info? Also, Ben just played Locke AGAIN, and now the rest of team Locke will start to turn on him. "There wasn't a number on this rabbit?" Awesome. Ben needs to do a total face turn.
-
Fuck you, cocksucker. I've done nothing to warrant you saying 'Beat it'.
-
Cause you that motherfucker messes shit up
-
he's exactly everywhere he wants to be.
-
Locke called Ben a hypocryte for using porwe and roofs, etc. Now he's shacked up living in the barracks. Wtf? And I forgot the "know" in the last post.
-
fuck
-
You've done nothing to warrent being told to Beat it? You have a short memory. go back and read your rants from the talkback a few weeks ago. No one will ever like you unless you 1.) get a new user name and 2.) play nice. Nothing personal, I'm just sayin' the Slik Chix is a tainted brand.
-
Harper is a vision from the Island? We still don't know what even happened to her. Do we know if smokie can take different forms? I doubt smokie was Ben's mother. Jack also saw Harper and she was also wet from the rain. Odd. Jesus, there is entirely to much to speculate with this show.
-
means he was probably Harper as well. It seems unlikely that this is the first time we've seen of her. I'm guessing she died somehow, or if she's not dead then she would probably be hanging out with the Others somewhere. Not being all mysterious in the rain.
-
I like your assessment of Locke. I liked this ep , I thought it was the weakest of the season but still an 8. Team Jack Fucking Rocks that's why Jack is making out with sweet ass juliete and Locke just fell into another one of Bens tricks. I called Team Jack right from the beginning and It will be shown that Jack was right all along. Team Jack!
-
Sorry if someone has already brought this up but when Ben shouted "Youre Mine!" to Juliet it got me thinking that besides his obvious lust after her but he might actually NEED her to keep himself sane.
-
is not nearly as hot as juliete thats why Goodwin cheated.
-
I think Jack is walking into a trap. I don't think the rescuers are planning on letting them get off the island alive. However, I think it will be Penny who in some way saves the day. That's just my guess.
-
The woman wouldn't get rid of the damn thing. It must have held some sentimental value to her.
-
Jack is in the coffin!
-
Harper would have no idea what Ben's mother looked like. She dies before he ever came to the island as a young boy. The her she's referring to is Annie.
-
So when Juliet and her tig 'ole bitties found Goodwin and was screaming at Ben that he knew this was going to happen, does anybody think she was referring to Ben seeing the future?
-
Yea, cause Jack being right and leaving somehow turns everyone into a wreck or pawn.
-
If he knew the manifest backwards and forwards, wouldn't he know Des was NOT an 815er?
Also, I prefer goblincunt...
-
Its happy hour here at Tong Manor
-
Living in the barracks, enjoying the home comforts, torturing and imprisoning the new folks on the island... Its clear why Farraday and Charlotte don't trust them - same reason our guys didn't trust the Others. And now Ben's out to take over again.
One thing I dont get though - this thing with the journal - if the ship crashed on the island, are we supposed to assume that the mate got OFF the island? And kept a journal of his adventures? Cos otherwise Widmore has just bought himself a journal where some sailor goes "April 15th: Sat drinkin grog in the Old Spit tavern with some busty wenches when I noticed me shipmates had all set sail without me. Ungrateful curs, I hope they crash on some mysterious island"
And that would just be a waste of money -
pretty sure it means the mate got off the island or the journal got off itself got off the island. it was found with pirates..
-
i guess i like to type the phrase 'got off'
-
...if you like black haired, blue eyed jail bait with an Aussi acccent

Not a strong episode at all. Really weak.
-
Did you get any vibes off the pic on Dark UFO?
The one with out Lostie, with Army/Police, and handcuffs??
And obviously very distraught.
Did she just kill someone? Or witness a death? I think we have an answer to the casualty. What say you? -
any word sounds better when cunt is included with it.
I feel like such a Lostcunt with all my TBing.
My typos make me feel like such a typecunt.
Jack can act like such a controlcunt sometimes.
Locke's so gullible, what a concunt!
I believe that will suffice for now. -
Sorry - of all places that pic was on thEmiSFit.
-
Get a rat to chew that thing off.

We saw him like a billion times last year. This year he hasn't been around!

thEmisSfIt is on the case...
"...IT was GOOD to hear the WHISPERS again!! I will DECIPHER them later using my Spoon!!..." -
there was a ship of scurvy pirates who traveled the seas in their ship the Black Rock to find the fountain of youth. 3 pirates survived to lay foot on sand and lay claim to a mysterious island. There was the the scheming Bug-eyed Ben, the methodical Candle the Vandal and the fierce Wrong Way Windemore. They held ill intentions towards each other, for the reasons they stand to profit from the island. Ben fought for the faith of the Island, Candle for the science. It was Windemore whos intentions were for pure greed and thus tied to a raft and set adrift by the others to be banished. It was then that Candle and Ben had a sword fight to take control and Candle had his arm lopped off. Ben made a yo mama joke.....something about how Candles mom was so ugly that she made an onion cry. and then......
-
Just like Locke is slowly becoming the new Ben. Locke is the white and Ben is the black. I bet they're gonna team up at some point. Maybe Locke let Ben out because he's grudgingly realizing that Ben is a better ally than enemy.
-
So the saying goes.."old habits die hard"..but when Locke says to Ben 'oh, like 3.2 million dollars...'and the flits out a buck from his Gap khakis..was anyone else thinking 1) why is Locke carrying around currency 100+ days after the crash..does he think he is gonna find an Apollo vending machine?
..and b) I know Tom Brown, Tom Brown is a friend of mine and Kate is no Tom Brown (though her step-father ((and where has he gone in the flashbacks..wouldn't he have shown for her trial))..may have some fieldcraft, hanging about Fort Lewis with 2d ranger and 1st SFG, I remember no ranger tab..and so un-digressing..tracking time is the rarest of skill. When Kate sayeth, "She came through here...so did they about a half an hour ago.."..I am gonna have to call bull butter. It is just so...too...unbelievable. time travel, smoke monster, Charlie the un-dead..sure. Kate tracking in time. No fraking way. Just sayin...
I'll see you at the Pub...yee fekkin bustards. -
Locke isn't the new Ben. Locke didn't let Ben out because its part of any strategy. He let him out because Ben is fucking with him, and leveraged his way out, and now that he's out of confinement, he will continue to manipulate Locke. Ben is a master manipulator. Locke is a desperate man who will have faith in anything that promises to show him the way.
The only way those two will ever 'team up' is if Hurley starts a Barracks softball league. -
...cracks me up.
"The Above COntains spoilers!!"
lol -
You've posted some good stuff lately - glad you're not on the sidelines any longer!
-
Locke was mad that Ben didn't "play fair" with the Losties. I don't think he was mad that Ben and the Others had houses and power - Locke was mad they had it so much better yet were denying the survivors of the same amenities. And trying to wage war on them at the same time.
-
As much as I look forward to a new Lost each Thursday, I ALMOST enjoy reading these posts weekly as well. Glad the hater crowd has been staying away. By the way, I thought the episode wasn't too bad, with the exception of the stupid doomsday clock counting down to 0. But then I'm a Juliet fan too. I was glad to see some explanation as to why she feels so indebted to doing what Ben says - he's definitely got her brainwashed/intimidated into doing his bidding.
-
go talk in your Prison Break Talkback, oh wait...... I forgot there isn't one even when the show was on. hmm I wonder why that is? Team Jack! Assholes! Jk! about the asshole part!
-
It puts the timeframe of him finding out about Widmore at approx. the beginning of Season 3. I think this will come into play in Ep. 8...this might be the first step in Michael's recruitment, Michael gets videotape of Widmore (or Tom tapes it). Then when ben finds out about this and Widmore's freighter expedition, Ben asks Michael to get on the boat.
-
It kinda had that feeling. Like it wasn't done by the "pros" and they were trying really hard to throw out the curveballs, but most didn't end up down the middle for strikes. It really didn't seem to fit with the current tone. It actually felt very Lucas Star Wars Prequelish. Why even have a Trade Federation? Why Sifo Dyas? Why not follow the Sparti Cloning Cylinder plot already developed by Zhan and go to Komino instead? It was a mess of an episode and really leaves me feeling shakey about bringing Michael back if they are going to just have him be a Ben Spy.
-
He's not.Considering four of them are JACK, HURLEY, KATE, and SAYID...and next week, the JIN and SUN episode promises to reveal "the rest of the Oceanic 6"...
-
He saw Desmond on the monitors. That was a big risk being taken if Desmond ever decided to see what would happen if the he let the countdown go.
-
To those that think my reaction to this episode as boring is a) illegitimate (because I want Die Hard 5 action in every episode) and b) irrelevant (because it was an "exposition" episode anyway), you guys have it all wrong. I don't need crazy action in every episode. My favorite episodes are the character centered episodes from Season One. In those episodes, there aren't too many explosions. In "White Rabbit", they run out of drinking water. Wow! What crazy action! Jack sees his dead father. He tries to save a drowning woman. Claire collapses. That's it. No time traveling, hostage negotations, nothing. What I'm saying is there is a way to create tension/suspense without much action. They made the issue with the water into this very big "action" piece where the characters turning on each other and accusing each other. It was an interesting "whodunnit." This last episode did not have supense or tension for me. I cared for Juliet's journey not at all. In "White Rabbit", it was about Jack dealing with his father's death and his guilt over it. It was very moving. It ended with the culprit being Claire (nice reversal of expectation) and Jack stepping into his leadership role. Just because some of you guys feel you are being personally attacked/insecure when someone doesn't like an episode, doesn't negate their opinion. You can defend it all you want, but I'm sick of people going "stop whining" or STFU. Furthermore, the idea that I have to accept this episode because it is an "exposition" episode. My definition of exposition is the art of gracefully revealing backstory. And backstory is any information necessary to the plot. So tonight's exposition was the flashback. Everything on the island was plot. In my opinion, the exposition was not gracefully revealed. It was not compelling to me. If it was for you, great. The only point of interest for me was Ben, both in the flashback/present day. The reveal of Widmore didn't seem earned. I would have liked to see Locke struggle strongly with Ben and finally achieve the reward (which in this case is the videotape). We're all entitled to an opinion.
-
If I were you I would feel more shaky about trying to apply a Star Wars prequel metaphor to Lost, and knowing a bit too much about Zhan and some Sparti Cloning Cylinder plot.
-
I agree he's been sucking lately. MacFaux had some solid points. He's been too high on himself and so focused on getting answers for his personal journey he's letting himself get manipulated and not using what one would call strategery. Get it together, man!
-
I initially thought Ben as the fifth, then i remembered he wasn't on the Oceanic flight, silly me. Any speculation who might be the rest? I read the "Jin/Sun" episode would be the most shocking of all 7 episodes this season.
-
That crazy cat is everywhere.
-
I agree with you on this episode. It doesn't mean I'm not a huge fan of the show, it's just that it didn't get me as much as, say, for example, a lot of the Season 1's, where there was drama created out of subtle things. Now, some of the Die Hard 5 episodes have been great, but constant physical danger between characters and hostage negotiations are the norm now. The kickoff episodes for S4 have been awesome, but I wouldn't mind if they put the pot back on simmer for a while to build things back up for a more impacting payoff as we get to the end of this arc.
-
stfu and do what ur name implies....or better yet do what u normally do and go watch some bestiality porn.....im sure its ur favorite
-
I also called bull cutter on. You are one sharp tack MacFaux. I raise me pint to ye!
-
The Die Hard 5 Episodes can be great. But they have to have that character arc. The Constant, for instance, was perfect because it had Desmond trying to find Penny and had that emotional climax at the end. Not to mention you felt so much for him because he a) could die and b) was thrown into a situation bigger than himself.
-
It's the only show I watch.
-
Can have a char-ar that elevates it to the next level. ("char-ar": That's what we call character arcs in film school. Actually, I'm not in film school. And I don't think they actually call it that.)
-
We should apply for that Lost cable package, where you pay like, a buck seventy-five a month for that one show. (actually I don't think that exists.)
-
Why does Locke suck so badly now?
BEN LINUS SHOT HIM A WEEK AGO...
Now he is letting him sleep freely in the same house with him?
-
Wasn't it Charlie's choice to go to the underwater hatch?
-
Locke from the FUTURE is on the boat. Crazy!
-
Locke Sucks. Team Jack!
-
Someone on lostspoilers blogspot is saying to stop asking 'Who' and start asking 'How', so it's obviously someone who doesn't know they're on the boat yet via Desmond's consciousness projection/time travel.

Let me tell you this about that..and it is universal, younglings.

..is Walt projecting himself like he did to Locke in the mass grave last season. That would explain why we should be asking "how" rather than "who."The only hole I can see is that Hurley told sayid in "The Economist" Locke was ranting about Walt, so Ben is probably aware Locke has seen Walt.

...that Michael is on the freighter but ISN'T Ben's "man on the boat". For all we know, Michael was brought along to help find the island, but there's another spy in the mix. Who's the mysterious captain? I can't imagine it's Michael. Could it be another face from the past? We never really saw what happened to Marvin Candle or whatever his real name may be. I'm completely open to the idea that Michael isn't the big shock next week. Or...maybe I'm in denial. :)
-
He's grown up enough to be a humble cabin boy like Jim Hawkins. Plus Walt would mean more to Locke
I'm kind of hoping Lost actually DOES go down this pirate route I'm imagining in my head. They missed a trick by killing eyepatch boy. Jack needs to lose an eye and start saying Arrrr in my opinion -
I love teh bitching about the answers and lack of them on Lost...we had a big reveal in this one and still people complain..
What do you want people?? Here's teh way it will pan out, someone will say a sentence of show it in a flash, or see it for themselves and thats it answered...it wont take an hour of exposition to answer a question but a sentence....Ben threw the tape in talked over it and bam there is our bad guy trying to find the Island and who owns the freighter...
when we find out who Jacob is we will see him first of all, tehn he will over the course of teh show tell us who he is in little bits, or he will have exposition for a minute and well know all about him...I dont know what people are moaning about answers for on this and other talkbacks and in the pub etc....
the man in the boat will be revealed and thats that one done in an instane, I think we are studying it too hard and setting up great scenario's in our heads so when they do give us a simple answer we feel let down a bit...just enjoy the ride folks.. -

Sawyer and the rest of the season is like the odd couple on an island. They can change the opening to that really catchy song. Of course, in the original show Oscar didn't routinely beat the shit out of Felix (not that I remember anyway).
-
Who is the other woman?
"Harper could very well be the ‘Other woman’. Of course, so could Juliet. Hell, Ben could be the Other woman this episode - the way he sashayed up that hill (and ran to get the ham out of the oven) had me questioning a few things"
-
I reckon nearly all the scenes with The Others magically appearing are actually The Others themselves, not smokie. Same with Walt when he initially appeared to Shannon and did that whole backwards talking thing. Wherever all The Others are at now [the temple or whatever], has some island hopping/projecting property. I am so going to be right about this, and apologies if it's been mentioned already.

So does that Vietnamese guy still have the grenade in his mouth?
by smerdyakov
And, why is there a deadly chemical processing plant on the island?
-
every new episode my desire for an episode taking place almost entirely on the Black Rock grows. I want to see what happened to that ship and it's crew. And if we do NOT ever see it, I want a spin-off series called Lost:Black Rock when this series is over. Well, that and the Zombie season first.
-
Why do you have to be such a small minded liberal? You cut me down because of my race (black), my political affiliation (Republican) and my religious and social beliefs. Don't you have something better to complain about? Or is this typical of all liberals? When I hear Obama, all that I hear are negative but eloquent speeches that COMPLAIN about everything! As far as my theories on LOST, I do think that there is some interesting twist in the overall story. Perhaps the Others really do think that they are the "good guys" because they are using evil means to achieve "the greater good" (which, ironically, was the name of a Season 1 episode). Just a thought...
-
That would be AWESOME! An episode that takes place entirely on the Black Rock might be a really cool idea! Perhaps we could learn just HOW and WHY the ship ended on the island. Perhaps it wasn't being used as a slave ship on its journey to the island, but that the captives were those who contracted the "sickness" (like Desmond and Milowski)? Good idea, bro!
-
remark... "Juliet...What are you doing here?" was great...This episode should be titled 'Ben Linus is a creepy little man-boy, fixated on Nordic-type chicks'.Also, who else thinks his 'ham' was one of the boars from the jungle? Raise yer hands if yer sure. And that was a damned lie about the Orchid station!!! They were at the 'Tempest' station. Dammit! Good episode, but 'The Constant' would be a tough act to follow, no doubt about that.
-
I refuse to fully spell out your ridiculous name...ridiculous because it is worthy of ridicule. But, I think you should mosey on over to a political thread and bray ignorance over there for a bit. And, if you're black, I'm a nine foot tall redheaded Chinese man from Alberta, Canada. Internet don't mean invisible, chucklenuts, and you don't seem black other than the text on the screen. My money says you're as black as Juliet. Not that it matters, nor do you.On the other hand, you're right; a story about the Black Rock WOULD be kick-awesome. Good one man. Leave the politics out of this please...Barack Obama might just be the next president...and who knows, maybe he and his Iranian cohorts will allow you and your daughters to merely be pleasure slaves!Seriously dude, here's a quote for guys like you: "You're gonna miss everything cool, and die angry, you stupid douche-nozzle."
-
Is not a liberal phenomenon. It goes across party lines. As does lying, cheating, and stealing
-
I didn't make fun of his race, I was making fun of him for being a self-loathing muslim. grow up!

story and Locke. Locke needs Ben because he honestly has no idea what he's doing and Ben knows more about the island than anyone else. Who do think is gonna look after the island while Ben is gone?
-
on the Black Rock. It would be a wonderful what the fuck moment.
-
As much as I like the Miles character (my favorite of the new group), I want to stick it to Locke so much more. I would love it if Locke has to talk to Miles, so he goes down to the boathouse. Which is blown to smithereens, wet chunks of Miles everywhere. Though I suspect that a couple of you are right. It's probably a dud. Strangely, I don't want Ben's freedom to come back and bite Locke in the ass. Maybe it's that Locke pisses me off when he's all macho and snarky. The Miles grenade bit was just him being macho and snarky. His bullshit with Kate the other week also pissed me off. I guess I love Locke the Hunter, but I hate Locke the Leader. I wonder if that says something about me, psychologically...
-
I read yours and there is nothing really more I can say other than what u guys have said...
really enjoyed it...that hatch will be visited again i'm sure, and not just in a Ben flashback...
Juliett would def get it..and get it hard..
I'm liking Farraday more and more every episode, I think he's teh best of the new additions, but all of them have been strong..great season so far..
-
I forget the actors name, but I remember seeing him previous to Lost and not being wowed by him. Maybe he's found the right role or is really improving. I wonder if the rescue team will survive, since they obviously know there are more than eight people who survived the initial crash.
-
All the newbies are all interesting in their own right, but I find him the most useful. & the actor was in Rescue Dawn with Christian Bale..
-
Sorry, wrong TB
-
and the kids mentioned there mom was in L.A. waiting for them. I wonder if she is connected to any character we know?
-
read minds. It's the only way he can know all that he knows.
-
Terrible video and sound quality, but definitely worth the 12 bucks I paid for them. Some real fantastic stuff to be found in the public domain.
-
........was a close one.
I love DannyBoy.
My biggest beef about this Ep...
So as I see it - Dan and CS risked loosing the gas and killing everyone (they had the HazMat suits - they were safe) so that they could save everyone from the POSSIBILITY Ben would use the gas to kill everyone. I don't know about you, but if I'm a 815er, I'm pretty pissed. Dan was rolling the dice he could stop it once it got rolling...2 seconds? And Ben couldn't have released it...you didn't see him prepping his gas mask, did you? No, this was a BIG chance our freighties took, with no risk to themselves (sorry Miles). Until Juliet pulled their masks off that is! THAT provided some encouragement. So I guess that the end (having Juliet and Jack being ok with what they did) was slighly poor writing. A rarity to be sure.
Maybe have Dan and CS know of a plan or a failsafe that could trigger the gas at any time? Or just explain they screwed up and now they are trying to stop it. Like some others have posted, it really seemed like a B-Team put this story together. I know it was in the can, but could the story have been rushed because of the impending strike? Y'know - studio pushing to get 1/2 a season in the can before stuff shuts down. "OK writers - you need to be done with 7 and 8 by said date so we can start filming..." My guess, anyway. These guys are too good for obvious plot holes. Maybe 6 & 8 were smooth going, but they had to rush to break 7. Shouldn't be any issues with 9-13 (unless the SAG shit starts affecting stuff). Jeez.
All that being said - still better TV than anything else out there right now (BSG in April, right?). Still a 7/10 ep.
Thanks BigE. You guys make this TB so addictive. What a great suppliment to a great show. -
MUST HAPPEN.
And with that - we will get our Black Rock flashback. Of that I'm sure. Dick the Pirate. Arrrrrghhh! -
Anybody who says Juliet's character is lame really needs to wake the fuck up and start watching the show. You just don't get it. There are NO lame charcters. EVERYONE is important.
-
...is the man on the boat because...
SPOILER, but only if you haven't really been reading the credits every week...everyone pretty much knows that it's Michael. That's why they say "how" (and probably "why") is more important. -
Thanks, dick. So now, I'm not black? *rolls eyes* It's a shame that AICN has turned into a haven for liberal bigots! I am so fucking tired of hearing a bunch of libtards stereotype African Americans as a group of mindless Obamatose slaves of the Democratic Party. Some of us actually have brains -- and we vote our conscience. The Democratic Party has NEVER represented African Americans fairly. They were the party of slavery, Jim Crowe and segregation. They only changed their colors when they realized that they needed some more votes -- so they tossed a few bones (usually promises of welfare and "leadership" for a few selected imbeciles) in exchange for a few votes. There is nothing that would incite me to vote for either Barack Hussein Obama or Hillary Clinton. But that isn't what this thread is about. Yet someone somewhere will make an anti-Bush or anti-Christian or anti-Republican comment, and no one will blink. If a person has the same opinion directed at the terribly overrated, inexperienced and unqualified Barack Obama -- then they even question my actual race. Get a life, little minded liberal! You can't believe all of those talking points that are fed to you by the DemocRATic Party leaders in San Fran. They want you to believe their nonsense and forget to scrutinize the eloquent-sounding (yet substanceless) rhetoric of the ultra-liberal less-than-one-term-in-Congress Obama. He is the true "Uncle Tom." But if you want to keep sucking his dick as the media continues humping his leg like a dog in heat, by all means -- continue. But don't criticize me for standing up for what I believe in. Don't worry, you will have scores of other politically mindless geeks who will show their bigotry by mocking anyone who doesn't agree with their leftist and usually uneducated social views. But this thread is not about Obama, Hillary, McCain or even how "black" I am. This is about LOST. Yet try as I may, a group of libtards will bring up my political beliefs in threads that have nothing to do with politics. When I respond, the other libtards jump in like pirannas. "Tolerance?" It is not "tolerance" when you only tolerate those who agree with you. But HATE seems to be the true "family value" of liberals everywhere.
-
The character of Ben Linus was originally supposed to be a guest starring role limited to about half a season. He was so well-received, the writers/producers wrote him in and offered him a full role. But how important will he be to the overall story? We already know that he makes it off the island. We know that he employs Sayid in the future. But why did he suddenly become a central figure to the LOST mythology? Did he replace another character -- sort of like combining his "Henry Gale" character with that of another one named "Ben?" We already know that the original "Jack" was supposed to die in the pilot episode, but the ABC execs forced them to keep him. So they rewrote the character of KATE, who was supposed to be the "hero" into Jack Shepherd. The overall story of LOST was created with a beginning, a middle and an end in mind. So how important a role will Benjamin Linus play in that story? My guess: Ben Linus is the man in the coffin that was featured in last year's finale (Through the Looking Glass). He will die at the end of the season, but (of course) in a flashforward. Next season, he will play only a guest star role in the "real time" episodes that are filmed off the island (since we already know that this season will conclude with the Oceanic 6 being rescued). Thoughts?
-
Wow -- great idea! Maybe they can start Season 5 with a BLACK ROCK flashback? BTW, do you think that Miles will get the opportunity to walk to the Black Rock? It might give him a headache. Still, I am hoping that he gets the opportunity to visit the LOSTie beach, and visit the graves of Shannon, Boone, Ana Lucia, Libby, and Mr. Eko. It might be quite a LOST education. And it might also be nice for ol' Miles to visit the caves and "talk" to "Adam and Eve." It would be funny if, afterwards, he says something to the effect that their names are "Jack and Kate."
-
I got the feeling that CS and Farraday had alterior motives for turning off the gas. Since they got caught, they said it was to prevent Ben from killing everyone; but I'm thinking that they were just disabling one potential booby-trap for when the Freighter People eventually arrive. If they accidentally set off the gas and killed off the Losties, I really don't think they (or at least Charlotte) would have minded that much. As they were wearing haz-mat suits and gas masks, I'm assuming they were prepared and willing to accidentally poison the island.
-
And it ain't Ben. Yep the makers admit Henry Gale became Ben & the head of the others but I'm fairly sure if it weren't for the superb acting it would have been someone else in the Ben role.
With regard to the coffin. Yes the funeral is treated with contempt by Kate at least and probably the other oceanic six except Jack. He attends. BUT there is one other person who betrayed them all remember and he is going to be playing a rather large part soon so my money is still on him.
Adam and Eve sounds more like a job for Naomi likewise the Black Rock. Miles seems to me to be targetted squarely at Jacob and maybe disproving the visions of the dead like Ben's mum and Jack's dad are actually spirits. THough Miles and Naomi could investigate the pit of Dharma dead.
Oh and Colin Powell didn't run Obama did. So unless you think the Presidency is worth very little or is a meaningless token job the Dems seem to be putting there money where their mouths are in regards to "representing Africa Americans fairly.". But don't worry since some think Romney might actually become McCains choice for VEEP we have monthas of quality Republican campaigning for minorities to look forward too. -
That sounded unclear reading it back in the previous post.
Miles can prove the visions are not Ben's Mother, Jack's Dad, or even Charley. Well there is a chance they are their spirits I spose but that would be one cheesy black mark against LOST if they were. I think some kind of mindscanning trickery Ol Smokey seemed adept at would explain their appearance, resemblance and manipulation of people rather than just plain spooks or Ghosts.
Or is Vincent actually Scooby Doo ?? Hmmmm..... then who is Shaggy ???? -
Good stuff. A visit by Miles to the DHARMA pit might very well be the reason that Miles is present on the island. Perhaps he needs to ask a few question? Or perhaps, like you said, Miles is just there to distinguish between "real" ghosts and "ghost imposters" (ala Christian shepherd, Ben's mom or Yemi the priest). Anyway, good thoughts.

As I can attest from getting on tangent a couple weeks ago - politics and religion ...not good TB fodder. At least I was chatting it up with Gotilk who knows what he is talking about - and I was willing to admit that. It makes it less likely for a flaming when you stay humble. Considering I campaigned for Dubya's Dad back in high school (I was a little fuckin' Michael Keaton in H.S.) I share some of your ideals - though more of a Reagan guy. In my 30's I have morphed into a libertarian after becoming disgusted by both parties. I just want the gov't the hell out of my life. Since when have they proven they can run anything efficiently...why would I want them running my life? Now - Libertarians need a candidate all of America can get behind.
I digress - just enjoy the board my friend. We have so many theories and ideas to flame each other about in the land of LOST...why waste good name calling like "douche nozzle" on politics.
Who originated "douche nozzle" btw? I need to buy that guy a beer.
Just downloaded Y:The Last Man to preview before I go out and buy my first comic book. Heard about it...guy in the Buffy comic thread recommended it. I remember hearing that title bounced around the LOST threads. Anyone remember what it was in regards to?
Angel fans:
I am NOT a comic book guy, though I will read anything entertaining. I just never got into it as a kid. BUT MAN!! The Angel: After the Fall is available for download and I highly recommend it (as long as you go out and buy it later so they keep makin' em!). It continues the story into season 6 beautifully (and brings back Wes in a GREAT way) and has me as sucked in as the series once did. Great read and the writing has the characters and tone down perfectly.
Just a suggestion for the coming LOST intermission. -
Did you get around to checking that pic out from The MisFit? Handcuffs.
Lostie.
FF.
suitcase.
crying.
WTF??? -
Y: The Last Man is REALLY GREAT STUFF. I've been reading since issue 1 and a few weeks ago read the amazing final issue. It's definitely worth the read. If you can find the trades, it'll be much easier to collect and read the entire story.
-
any chance that's not actually a pic from LOST? He does that all the time: posts a pic from a LOST actor doing some other project, then humerously interpreting it as though it actually was from LOST.
-
back in the 3rd season, Ben specifically sent Ethan and Goodwin to the plane wrecks. We know why he sent Goodwin. Why did he send Ethan?
-
Ben: You might want to sit down, John.
Locke: Who is it?
Ben: Kurt Russell.
Locke: What!?
Ben: But he's laughing.
Locke: Well, I guess that's okay then. -
You sound as enthusiastic as most have when describing it. Would somebody with a non-comic book history like me still get into it? The story is that good?
-
Locke. Who is it? Ben: It's you John! Cut to LOST!
-
If you found yourself enjoying the first issue, then yes, I think you would enjoy it. Its not really a traditional comic-story, so no comics background is required. I think if it were written as a straight novel, it would be just as good. Great mystery, great characters, great arcs, great ending. And since its a comic book, it also has the benefit of great art.
-
Better
Locke: "Who is your man on the boat?"
Ben: "Don't you know, John? It's your father."
poom...LOST -
Locke: What? Who is the man on the boat?
Ben: It's your former wife!
LOST! -
Advice taken. Thanks. Unfortunately, I don't think that the anti-Bush crowd would ever take this good advice. Good idea about a Libertarian, though. I suppose that McCain is the next closest thing in November though.
-
...And Erin Andrews NEEDS my penis.
She is hotter during September football games - in short shorts and tank tops.
SHake it off
The MisFit pic may be just that Max. I can't figure where he could have pulled that from - he doesn't put alot of effort into that stuff. And actually, according to Wiki - he HAS been dead on on a couple of major spoilers. If its a real LOST pic - I just don't have any clue what it could mean. -
"HURLEY and saywer are THROWING large Staples at a STICK!! WHy would the others NEED large Staples!!"
-
Dude, no X Box 360's on the island?
-
a totally tits version of PONG.
-
Actually, that was pretty good. So you're not a complete #$@#@# afterall.
-
Is genius. While there are certainly wordsmiths with greater fame, the combination of those two words...genius. Lemme try...
You mouthbreathing douchenozzle.
Bliss -
Hold on a sec... I have to pick my ass up off the floor as I've ROFL it off.
I like Douchey McDouchelheimer. (otherwise known as the Duke Of Douche) -
I read back and the tone went south for while, then as always went right back to the way it was before. You people are awesome.
-
I seed all my stuff and download with with The Pirate Bay. Never have I had a problem with "suprises" with my downloads. If you are using BitTorrent as your form of file sharing, they have a reliable search engine. Links to specific torrents below:
Y:The Last man - complete series:
http://tinyurl.com/ypszb4
just extract the file with WinRar. Any ? - Feel free to ask. If you don't use Bit Torrent..you need to start.. J/K
Email me, I'll attach them to an email volume by volume for you if need be.
ehansen@nc.rr.com -
What up mah brutha! Saw you peaked your head in at that Buffy goes Muffdiving link. I think you were one of the ones who brought up Y:THe LAst Man on one of the LOST links, weren't you? Do you remember why? One of the writers or something? Or was that Xiphos. You guys look just alike.
Any more VALIS=LOST stuff? You'll have to write up a summary of some of the tie ins when you are done. That's asking alot with your work schedule. I'm such analdripping douchenozzle.
'sigh' Just beautiful. -
I totally forget Brian K. Vaughn (the author of Y: The Last Man) was working on LOST now. That would certainly exchange some of the more interesting twists we've had thrown at us over the last dozen or so episodes.
-
Jeez - you won't believe this - I just wrote a HUGE post and clicked "Post Talkback" - and nothing. Instead it gave me the old Log In screen!!! I had a couple comments for you - now it's late and I'm frustrated!! Namaste all, I'm heading to bed.
-
Excellent questions.
I will email you the answer so as not to aggrivate the natives.
Yo Xiphos!
Cold and windy. Like my last date. TarHoles just beat Duke. I hate Duke. It was excellent. I'm a Wisconsin native and still recovering from Lord Favre retiring. In mourning until the draft I'm afraid. -
I must say that Lost is the best show of this decade. As a drama, it really has surpassed many of its rivals in the same genre. It has really great writing, directing and wonderful performances by its actors. I think that those who are most critical of the show are the ones most used to the standards this show has set, but it must be said that despite their critique there is no other show out there in the world, or even the island itself that is better than this.
-
Sent you an email. That will get you started. Just let me know if you need anything else.
-
No - I have an old Starter PAcker jersey (Road white) with my name on it (for $130 for an authentic...I'm getting MY name on the thing). I wore it to work with a black band around the arm. No one knew what the hell I was doing. I knew (tear)... Haters of Brett will now come to realize how spoiled we have been for 16 years. Chicago has had 21 different starting QBs during Favre's reign. (many tears)
Dad is on suicide watch. He is afraid the time it took from Starr to Favre...he'll be dead by the time we find another QB. God that's morbid...but he may be right. Aaron Rodgers looked good against Dallas, but who knows
PLEASE GOD!!!!...Back to LOST
THANKS MAX! That was it. Didn't he get credit for some of The Constant?
Namaste BigE -
is fuckin funny Xiphos. I saw one the other day with "DogCatcher" on the back. Favorite cartoon is Vick in the box and getting the stare down by the jury...Snoopy, UnderDog, Scooby, Goofy, Santas Little Helper, and others. As Mr Burns would say, "Exccceelllent". I wonder - If he can't fight in prison, will they just beat him with a bat or electrocute him. Maybe just drowning. Yea - I love dogs, my Lab is my life. But when I hear of fuckers who harm creatures who cannot defend themselves, or women, or children....I GET VERY ANGRY. HULK like angry. All a dog does is love unconditionally. Wants to make you happy. To hurt an animal like that.... must go Dexter on someone. Later.
-
CONFIRMED!!!1!
Gives new meaning to 'Go meet Charlie, bitch.' -
On thing I really hope they will address soon is that although Sawyer (while he and Kate were trying to escape the rock breaking & cages) assesed alot of the others and found only some of them to be hard as nails we know the likes of Ethan (who was after all a surgeon) and most notably Juliet (who is a fertility doctor) are extremely skilled in combat. Was there a comprehensive other's military style training regime ?
We have yet to see any hint of that in flashback. Or do juliet and Ethan have some kind of military training waaay back in their past ?
I know it seems minor but the others are by and large a formidable fighting force so how did this occur ?
BTW one of my favourite moments of season 3 was Charlie telling the 2 others in the looking Glass he would Die when it flooded, as the line was delivered as masterfully creepy as any line by Ben and was a real turning point as it was finally the others turn to be freaked out by the Losties. -
It has a Dark Tower-esque ending.
I swear if they go the same route with the TV show... :X
I hated that ending. -
Without giving anything away to anyone who hasn't read them, I LOVED that ending. It is absolutely, 100% appropriate to the character. I'm not saying I jumped with joy, but after the shock of it passed, I just smiled and thanked Stephen King for being a smart, smart writer.
-
Okay, I know it's very stereotypical geek to love on Bruce Campbell, but since Burn Notice doesn't seem to be on the USA menu that I know of, would anyone else like to see Bruce on Lost? I know, it's a little late in the game to be introducing new characters, but dammit, I love me some Bruce...
-
The actual ending wasn't so bad, it's the rest of the book that was. Flagg being offed my some nobody Spider Kid with Diarhea that roland just ends up shooting. And the crimson king ending up being a crazy old guy who just throws harry potter toys around. What a let down. Those last three books were just rushed disapointments.
-
Been so long since I've been in front of a computer, I almost forgot my AICN password! Here's my thoughts on "The Other Woman".
Good to see Tom and Goodwin back...Goodwin's a real Casanova! But chemical burns? Hmmmm...Yea, yea...Juliette has nice tits...blah blah blah.
Another good shot of the plane breaking into pieces...love those new special effects shots.
Harper, jilted smoke monster?...Yes...but not how you think. Harper wasn't so much unhappy about the Goodwin/Juliette hook up...as much as she is jealous that Ben cares more for Juliette than her. Harper wanted some Benjiman love...but his heart was with Juliette...cuz she looks like "her", and THAT pisses her off. I think it will be revealed Harper was actually HAPPY when Ana Lucia kebobbed 'ol Goodwin.
Widmore! Charles. Goddamn. Widmore. Ok folks...you buyin this "He's the bad guy" bullshit Ben is puttin' off on Locke? Do you really believe ANYTHING Ben says? If you do...you're dumber than Locke. Widmore doesn't know "where the island is"? Bullshit..IF, indeed, that actually IS his freighter...he sure has a good GUESS where the island is....HIS team is ON the island. And he must know more about what's ON the island if he gave Dan and Charlotte ("I have work to do") gas masks and instructions to DISABLE the gas distribution device at the Tempest.
He knows that's Ben's first line of defense...In case of emergency:
1). Send ALL his people to the "temple"...where they can don the appropriate life saving, gas resistant masks and chemical suits.
2). Send a member of his team (Alpert?) to the Tempest to activate the gas system...giving him a specific time so everyone can be safe....and in Ben's case...this means BACK in his comfy Other's barracks home...you know the one...with the secret panic room full of biohazard suits that Sayid almost discovered a few eps. back.
You see...when Ben said his classic "See you at dinner, guys"...we was laughing...because he thought Sawyer & Hurley (and everyone else) would be DEAD from gas exposure by dinner time. THAT makes that line even MORE creepy, if that's possible. Again...he manipulated Locke into giving him just what he wanted. Ben knew EXACTLY when the gas was going to be deployed...so he "played prisioner" just long enough (he was just where "he wanted to be") to drop his "final bargaining chip" on Locke...to allow him safe refuge in his hidden room in his house. So where am I going with this?
Oh...yeah... Charles. Goddamn. Widmore. He's not the bad guy kids. He is NOT a nice man...but he's NOT the big baddy. The man we saw him roughing up on the Red Sox tape...one of Ben's men...and he tortured him to get ALL the info on Ben's "security devices" on the island...which is how they knew about The Tempest and where to find it.
Widmore is NOT out to make a profit on the island...he's out to take it back from Ben's evil reigns.
Ben is the "big baddy" of LOST, I'll gaurantee it...and I think it will be a Hans Gruber from "Die Hard" type situation...Remember Hans spent that entire movie pretending to be an international terrorist...only to be revealed as a "common theif". Ben = Hans, IMO.
So...where will Ben be left as he's sitting in his little isolation chamber in his house...waiting for the gas to deploy...only...it doesn't. Will he still have a plan, then?
Or...what if it's NOT an isolation chamber...but an underground tunnel to the Temple?...and he will be nowhere to be found at dinner time? We'll see.
Mike is NOT his man on the boat...Mike may be ON the boat...but he's NOT Ben's man...he's a red herring. Ok...I've bored ya'll long enuff....but I thought it was a pretty good episode overall. Some good theories in this thread...I'll have to read thru more thoroghly tomorrow...But right now I gotta crash...Daylight Savings Time sucks ass! -
Were you bothered by the metafiction elements? I was, at first. But then as the story progressed and I saw what King was doing with it, I dug it. As for Flagg and Mordred (Spider Kid), I was okay with it because of the Arthurian symbolism that was being played out. Flagg as a power-hungry Merlin (which some interpretations of Arthurian legend support) was seeking out someone to remove Arthur (Roland) from power. Not realizing, of course, that Mordred was the true threat.
-
If it turns into that Will Farrell movie...
:X -
Good to see you. You argue some good points. Of course, I think you are wrong on both counts - but you argue your side well!
In the end. I don't think we are going to get a Whedonesque type formula (ie. big bad gets built up, defeated, plot twist, and then the REAL BIG BIG bad is revealed). All the characters are in need of redemption. All of them do things that in their own mind, is the "right" thing to do. Hell, even Michael justified shooting Ana in cold blood (Libby accidentally)and turning over four friends (albeit, people he only knew 10 weeks) for his son. If faced with those circumstances...could you do the same thing for your child? So while he could be a "bad guy", it's ambiguous and for the audience to judge.
Ben has his reasons as well. Widmore too. Abaddon.
I don't think anyone will be set up to be a devil worshipping, puppy eating, pedophile, Nazi (which would make him a pretty "bad guy"). In the end, I think they will all be revealed to have motives you could relate to and maybe agree with. It will make for wonderful discussion on these boards on who should win. Or if any of them should.
Jack looks like he will win at first - but then look what he is like a year and 1/2 later( bad beard and worse habit). Obviously his "victory" was not. Ben was still around as well pulling strings. DId he win or is he winning? Seems like it - Sayid bought into his end game. Michael may have too since he is on the boat. Widmore? Hell - maybe he knows so much he is actually trying to protect Des by being an ass and we find out later all he is doing is to protect his daughter.
Anyway - LOST seems to be a story of redemption, not necessarily good vs the big bad. They are all good and all bad and all in between just trying to find a way to be comfortable in their own skin.
SMALL SPOILER ALERT. BRODY - SMALL SPOILER TO ARGUE YOUR SECOND POINT....DON'T READ IF YOU WANT TO STAY VIRGINAL....................
In ep8, we know there is a Friendly sighting with Michael in NY, an arguement that does not go well. But it appears Tom is "convincing" Mike to work a job for Ben(the contents of their convo is not known, so this is the guessing part). Ep8 is a flash back to answer what Mike was doing during the time he left the island to the time he winds up as Ben's man on the boat. All this comes from an extremely accurate source. Hope that didn't spoil you too much if you read it. We can agree to disagree and not give each other a Ben beating, right?
END SPOILER
Loved teh Dark Tower. The 1st four (which I have in a box set) was unbelievable. I bought the last 3 as oversized, illustrated books. I was hungry for the story to continue so I enjoyed it - but the tone was different. The lightsabers and Harry potter stuff was a bit goofy. Including his King's own story (the van hitting him)as a part of the story...well, it was creative, I'll say that. I was most upset by Oy's fate believe it or not. This from a dog lover and Lab owner though. The ending...it was good. Satisfying and not, all at once. I like the idea of the FINAL fate of our sidekicks though...a happy ending (Especially the part about them adopting a dog that they swear could talk sometimes). I hope JJ does it right...it would have to be done in a mini-series, no? Too much story for a movie trilogy methinks. -
that sidereel site is the reason im able to txt here on the firday......i think it was urself who put it up before season 4 started and I am forever in your debt..many thanks my old friend, many thanks indeed
-
Pretty cool site. It has some Tv shows I had trouble finding on BitTorrent. Like early Eps of Angel. An d to watch them on the spot - nice. I like having my own copy, though. I noticed an option to download to realplayer - seeing now if that works. Still love my U-Torrent, though.
-
Again - Excellent if you wanna just catch some TV on the spot. If you want to "own" the file however...
I was able to download it as a FLV file - played in RealPlayer easily enough as a keeper. Also worked in Nero Showtime - which I watch all my stuff in because of the features and the clarity and the way I can ease I can tweak my vids.
File is only 90MB, quick download - about 20 minutes - but poor quality. So...there it is.
Thanx 4 introducing me to the site - good stuff. If I ever miss something I just wanna watch real quick - it'll be my go to. -
Speak much? I need some sleep.
-
What the heck is sidereel? I've never done the bit-torrent thing - then again, never had need too, I guess.
-
Anyone read that? I saw Sayid and Juliet on the cover of the latest TV Guide at the supermarket this morning. I thumbed through it, but didn't see much. Nice to see Juliet and Sayid dressed up, not in their island grubbies.
-
http://tinyurl.com/ytgdsx Video for the TV Guide photo shoot. It's short, followed a 30 second ad for diapers. But it's fun to hear Naveen's British accent! Not much in the article on-line. There was more in the actual magazine.
-
Nice website to watch just about anything that has aired on TV over the last several years. No downloading necessary. Just search for what you want, choose the link, and the ep plays for you embedded right there on the page. Shitty quality - but still nice if you miss something or get nostagic.
I just watched an old Angel Ep called Forgiven that mentioned in another TB as one of my favorite WTF moments on TV.
http://www.sidereel.com -
I mentioned that earlier in this TB - doesn't Elizabeth Mitchell look great in makeup and a tight dress!?!?
-
That was the best liner of the ep and it should have been part of this TB title. I know I would have glanced it and shrugged "who cares?" Then watch the ep and be blown away. Just batteries...I don't even know where that comes in at since it's all about the gas this ep and stopping that.
-
You had me at I hate dook...
Grew up in Chapel Hill, living in Raleigh now. Watching UNC dook is my favorite thing...unless...then it's my least favorite. -
I'm assuming this was referring to what Dan says when Kate asks about the pack he has, and he says "just...borrowed this." then kate says "batteries huh? then what's..." then she gets knocked out by Charlotte. She's saying "batteries huh?" in response to what Charlotte said about looking for batteries, not what Dan said.
Also, this is not a mind blowing line AT ALL...compared to "it doesn't scatter quite right" from several weeks ago, it was a weak line to put in the title. -
I'm not sure if I am interpreting what necgray is trying to say - but when I hear Meta - anything I'm thinking to myself, "Self, there is a big picture encompassing this story that I need to pay attention to". Like Necgray bringing up how King used that part of the story with this big, overlying theme of Arthurian legend. How the last Matrix, Neo sybolizes a Saviour's sacrifice (even going as far as to pose him arms outstretched like on a cross in the last shot) - so the Meya elements were the biblical story of a saviour paying the ultimate price for humanity to live. Am I close, Necgray?
-
sidereel is a site that has Lost on it just after it airs...u go on click the episode and start streaming it...I do this before I go to work and when I come home it is sitting there waiting for me...also I've got it in HD too so its even more special...dont worry folks, i'll buy the dvd when it comes out too...I just need my Lost fix in a hurry
-
I saw the Kristin from E! over at Dark UFO...and I gotta say...Mike is STILL a red herring. I also think Michael will end up in that coffin at Hoffs-Drawler the same way Goodwin ended up dead on the island...not shish-kabobbed...but rather, "place in harms way" by Ben...with a desired outcome.
As for LOST being about "redemption"...ok...Shannon was redeemed? Boone was redeemed? Arzt was redeemed? Gary Troup was redeemed? The Marshall was redeemed? The faceless tailies who died the first night were redeemed? Ana Lucia was redeemed? Libby was redeemed? Tom was redeemed? Pickett was redeemed? Eko was redeemed?
Or is LOST just about the charaters we CARE about's redemption? Seems pretty arbitrary to me. One thing I DO know is Michael committed 3 heinous, selfish acts...murdering Ana & Libby in cold blood...then leading his friends into a trap. I realize Mike had a justifiable reason for doing all this...the love of his son and a desire to get him back...but that does not excuse what he did to get to that result...and he will pay the ultimate price for it.
Michael will NOT be redeemed. He will say "hello" to Ana Lucia...in hell. Transcript from "3 Minutes":
MICHAEL: I guess you believe in hell, then.
EKO [helping Michael clean the blood]: For a brief time I served in a small parish in England. Every Sunday after Mass, I would see a young boy waiting in the back of the church. And then one day, the boy confessed to me that he had beaten his dog to death with a shovel. He said that the dog had bitten his baby sister on the cheek; and he needed to protect her. And he wanted to know whether he would go to hell for this. I told him that God would understand -- that he would be forgiven, as long as he was sorry. But the boy did not care about forgiveness. He was only afraid that if he did go to hell -- that dog would be there waiting for him.
Ana Lucia will be waiting, Ed.

I never said they would ALL find redemption. Like Michael said to Artz in one of the Missing Pieces: Everyone has a story like yours.
For whatever reason, everyone on the island has done something and is in NEED of redemption in some sort. Some may not want it. Some will find it in their own way - like Eko did when he faced down who he at first thought was Yemi - by saying basically, "ya know, now that I think of it - I'm cool. I don't regret what I did to survive." His redemption was just coming to terms with his past. That wasn't good enough for 'ole smokie, though. Michael said - Fuck redemption...my son is more important than that and saving him is worth every heinous act I do (many who have kids probably admit they COULD do what he did to save their child)
Maybe redemption is the wrong word. Maybe just peace...ok with being their own skin is closer to it. But they try hard (the writers) to not make this about good vs Evil. Our "good" heroes have some serious issues and are sometimes a bit ambiguous about how "good" they are. Ben is supposed to be a bad guy in many ways - yet you can see where, in the end - what he does may be done for the greater good (maybe). Sawyer can act like a selfish bad guy, then turn around and do something heroic and shows love for Kate.
Soo - we'll have to agree to disagree on this one. And there is every possibility you'll be right. More likely, we both will be a little right and alot wrong about most of out theories. At least I hope so - I want to be fooled. Keiser Sose! -

what Michael is doing now, coming up here in Eps 7-8 are his attempt to make up for his sins of the past? Good luck - you're right, Ana and Libby will both be waiting for him.
Kind of a spoiler but really more of a rumour. Just in case............ spoiler.............................spoiler..................spoiler...................spoiler..........................spoiler........
Word had it from a guy that worked as an extra in NY while they were filming Michael's Ep8. They bought his buddy's green something or other car. They then wrecked it. He was on the set and saw a scene where Michael steps into the car, pins a note on himself, then wrecks the car as an attempt at suicide. He survives. Maybe the recruitment to the boat duty then follows - I'm not sure how it unfolds. But if they decide to work in the paper clipping now that Lost fans deciphered the whole thing - he may make a second attempt at suicide in a flash forward (after the boat), and as Mr Lantham. hangs himself from the rafters. Remember - he leaves a son. So...Michael is then in the coffin at Hoffs-Drawler. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> END SPOILER.....................................End Spoiler
If you read that Chief - Michael has DEFINATELY failed at redemption and gives up. One way ticket to hell.
-
How's that for Redemption?
-
He listened to some advice, got back to LOST, and is trying to enjoy the board. Stop stirring up shit and let the guy believe what he wants. ANd if you read a little further down in the comments section of that UN-funny comic...
A nice comment by a reader...
Tom Tomorrow
That's what I dig about you man -- you don't let your progressive and hip nature keep you from
unearthing stodgy, worn-out stereotypes in your quest to indoctrinate and polarize a whole new generation of ideology-driven lemmings... you go, boy!
Now THAT was funny. -
Maybe...but what if Ben IS really one of the good guys and he is trying to save the world in his own, twisted way?
-
Meta's self-aware. Adaptation is a meta movie. The Truman Show's premise is meta. The meta element of Dark Tower is King's appearance as a character and the dangers to Roland as a result of King's importance to his own narrative. Generally I find meta to be a little too pretentious, but when it's handled well it can be very interesting. I was responding only to a post about The Dark Tower, not Lost. I don't think Lost could possibly go meta without infuriating 99% of their audience. "So the island is just the product of a science fiction writer? Fuck this show!" Unless the science fiction writer was L. Ron Hubbard and he used his Scientology money to create himself a Garden of Eden where Scientologists would never find him. Then I would laugh and laugh.
-
He tries, but he just manipulates and twists people to serve him. He can't be a good guy.
-
Don't get me wrong, my friend...I'm with you that the writers are leaving themselves open to all kinds of interpretations about what these character's fates may hold.
I just think Michael got the total "shaft" on the deal he cut with Ben...that he did indeed win his freedom off the island...but NOT Walt's...(although, Walt may have made it back to the states, but is still being held by Ben's men there). Walt was too precious a find to ever give up that easy.
It's completely possible Michael may STILL be doing Ben's bidding in the future...all to get his son back...yet again! But as many of us fans...and I'm sure some of the writers...are tiring of this one dimensional scenario they've set up for Michael. Something has GOTTA give...and I think it leads Mike to his "peace" at Hoffs-Drawler.
I think we finally saw the TRUE Ben in 'The Other Woman'...With his "You're MINE!" line to Juliette...spoken like a spoiled 10 year old brat. With all his posturing, and grandious behavior...I think we'll find Ben's motivations to be rather basic...(ala Hans Gruber in 'Die Hard')...So far, everything that has come out of his mouth is a lie...or a manipulation to get what he wants...He is using his "valuable" position on the island to his advantage...but I think he may just be using the island as the perfect "hide out" and he is able to do nefarious things on the outside world.
It would explain the muliple passports...and his sending Sayid out to kill people on "lists". Miles insistence that he can come up with exactly $3.2 million. I think Ben robbed Widmore of something valuable...and Widmore is looking to get back at him.
Too simple? Perhaps...but I think Hanso will step into the picture eventually...and put BOTH Ben & Widmore in their places. Unless Jack gets to them first. -
I like where you are going with this better now that I read your last post. It "feels" right. The Hans Gruber thing is great. Ben may just wind up being this base little prick who can't get laid. He stumbled on to DharmaTech after "taking over" in the purge that allowed him to exploit some very rich and powerful people and make lots of cheddar. Now Widmore is coming looking for him. And BEN WANTS HIS DETONATORS!!!
Just out of cutiosity - did you read the spoiler? If you did - does this guy sound legit...does something like that "feel" like LOST? -
Oceanic manifest to have his name on it, so he can be a Oceanic Six survivor.
-
The $3.2 million was NOT a code for anything - rather, Miles has a need that takes #3.2 mill to solve OR Miles knows that Ben has this amount based on Ben's past actions and mis-deeds. But I'm sticking with Miles and Ben NOT being buddies, and it is extortion, plain and simple.
-
Any luck on the downloading? You want me to send you issue 1 of Y:The Last Man via e-Mail - see if it goes through? Just install "Comical" to view the comics then.
-
And it does sound completely legit...and very "LOST-ish". I'm sure when we meet Michael, he will be as much as a basketcase in the future as Jack was shown to be last year.
Oh...and think there's only ONE true attempt at suicide...the second one is murder....made to LOOK like a suicide.
Here's some nuggets from "Eggtown" that may help us to ponder Mile's & Ben's connection:
KATE: You got one minute. Go.
MILES: How about some privacy?
KATE: Fifty-five seconds!
MILES: (to Ben) Do you know who I am?
BEN: Yes.
MILES: Do you know who I work for?
BEN: Yes.
MILES: Then you know he's put a lot of time and energy into finding you. So now I've found you. And I can tell him exactly where you are. Or I can lie, and tell him you were already dead. I'd be willing to do that, for 3.2 million dollars.
BEN: You've arranged this meeting so you could blackmail me?
MILES: (his lips move silently for a moment) It's extortion if you want to get technical.
BEN: 3.2? But why not 3.3 or 3.4?
[MILES stares at BEN, and BEN realizes something.]
BEN: What makes you think I have access to that kind of money?
MILES: Do not treat me like I'm one of them! Like I don't know who you are, or what you can do!
BEN: Your friend Charlotte has seen me, she knows I'm alive.
MILES: I'll take care of Charlotte. You just worry about getting me the money. You have two days.
BEN: My present situation is a little bit restricted. Can that be amended?
MILES: Okay. One week, in cash.
I'm thinking Ben thought the gas deployment would make this money transaction moot. And Miles knows that Charlotte & Faraday are disabling the gas bomb device. Very cat n' mouse...but I think it could be possible Ben stole from Miles and he is using Widmore to get paid.
I just don't think Sawyer is the chief confidence man on the island now.
-
"Ben wants his DETONATORS" cracked me the fuck up.
-
We already know miles can speak to the dead and uses the skill to find money. i assume Ben has killed someone and spirited off with $ 3.2 million. the question is how that fits in with the overall story arc.
-
The comparisons being made are not apt. For Dan and Des, the specific numbers had to do with a necessary frequency. It was involved in an equation. There was a need for it to be specific. With Ben and Miles, there's really no reason for Miles to choose that specific number UNLESS it has a purpose. I stand behind the theories that it's either a code OR it's a demonstration by Miles to Ben that he knows something about Ben. Which is essentially code. I don't believe for a second that it's simple extortion. I could be proven wrong, but extortion feels way too straight-forward.
-
he deserves an emmy. he is truly truly outstanding...
-
You're right only in the black and white world of morally absolute protagonists. Mad Max never helped anyone who didn't help him first. Likewise Snake Plissken. Any anti-hero, really. Go Team Ben!!! (um, with the exception of that whole "you're mine" thing...)
-
The number of posts in this tb proves that people are jumping to conclusions and second guessing things. We don't need the Ben/Miles discussion for that.
-
Has Ben ever done ONE redeeming thing? He's hurt everyone on the island, including the Oceanic people.
-
some crazy shit in there, but it does kinda make Lost make more sense... sort of
-
I also agree that right now Ben's not a hero. But skywalkerfamily didn't say hero. He said good guy. As far as Ben redeeming himself, that would be stretching. I'd say his efforts to save the pregnant women, but that seems directly related to his mother's death. I don't suppose you'd accept the fact that Ben has NOT killed a whole shitload of people that he easily could have? No? Okay. I'd say we have a long way to go and Ben may redeem himself yet. Even if he never does, he's still one of the best characters on that show. And really, I was just responding to skywalkerfamily's blanket statement about characters who manipulate.

Rescue email on the way

I'm getting through it SO slowly. I'm bad about starting too many all at once and then not reading for a few months after I finish them all. So now I'm working on 3. Rant (almost done), VALIS (about 1 third) and now King's "On Writing" (only about 70 pages in, it's a fast read). And the new WIRED is here, so that's gonna occupy at least a couple of reading hours. I agree with you about making LOST more understandable. But sort of in the same way that Vicodin makes having your arm cut off less painful. Ultimately, we will all be in the dark for a while now with just hints of a slight glow that appears to be hundreds of feet away, fading away each time it seems to resemble something or appear closer. But that's a good thing.
-
Other than parents who want their progeny to end up on hidden island research facilities playing with trans-dimensional bunnies. That and Martians. If my name was Marvin, I'd want to cut my arm off, wear lab coats and experiment with super 8 film-making. Or score ragtime music for films. Let's get it on. I guess there are a few notable Marvins. The name Marvin means "lover of the sea". So our favorite Marvin's name could mean "lover of the sea light". Lighthouse? Ok, I'm reaching now, which means I probably need sleep or pills or something.
All joking aside, I'd like to say again that the writing and theorizing here is really good. Best writing about Lost on this great series of tubes we share. Cheers and keep it up, folks. -
I think there is sufficient evidence provided by the powers that be, that Ben could be interpreted as a 'good guy'. He was chosen to lead The Others, and if people are still following him, then they must support his goals, and as we don't know their goals, how can we say one way or another if he's good or not.
Now, Ben is seriously flawed, and yes, he does seem to take a delight in manipulating people, but he may see this behavior as means to an end.
If you view him as protector of the island (thwarting Charles Widmore's attempt to find it; bringing in people to help with the fertility problems; helping get rid of the DHARMA people, etc.), and combine that with the fact that Sayid ends up working for him, then its certainly plausible that his goals are actually on the side of the angels.
And of course, none of that precludes him from also being a manipulative asshole with severe attachment issues.
If Ben was a straight-forward villain, he would be boring. He's such a great character because of all the ambiguity. -
I solved the issues you brought up. And I emailed a version of Comical. Just run the program and it should install.

King's "On Writing was awesome. Mostly autobiographical (holy nuts, was he a junkie). That is a VERY funny book as well. A couple nuggets on writig, but it was mostly just entertaining. IMO. Just enjoy them buddy! Its not a contest! I DO want that report on LOST = VALIS by Monday 8am however

Thanks for explaining it better than I did, Max. I love how NONE of these characters are one or even two or three dimentional. They are all over the place. Jack is the main protagonist, no? Yet he can be VERY unlikable, violent, ends up a pill head alcoholic and a basket case. I love it...because I can relate to some of these guys. They are all imperfect - some TRY to do good, but don't always get it right. Some seem to be evil - but find themselves doing good (see Sawyer). Ben could have just have had Tom shoot Sayid Bernie and Jinn. But he spared them (visions of the future perhaps? Then it might be self serving after all). He grew up with an emotionally abusive dad, with guilt over "killing his mom" on a freaking hippie island. No wonder his emotional growth is stunted. He could be revealed to be an anti hero with good intentions after all. He is just a twisted manipulative bastard who has a lousy way of solving problems. But if he is really trying to save the world - maybe his means are necessary. In the end - we'll find he probably is just trying to get Annie back somehow.
-
I'll keep my own council, thanks.
Thanks for reading. -
Fair enough.
-
Ah! Books on tape. I love those things. I love it when I find a garage sale with a book on tape lover dumping their old tape. I've got some great out of print stuff that way. Carl Sagan reading his own stuff, Terence McKenna, etc etc. I guess I'm more bi-polar with books than add. Tons in one month, then none for months. A cycle.
-
Not true. Tom BITCHES like a little a girl that "why can't we just kill them!" Ben's standing order was to shoot in the sand when he "tells them" to kill them on the walkie. Just rewatched that scene to be sure.
-
I HOPE!!! Have been emailed.
-
Yes, VERY funny so far. Some great stuff. I've read some stuff of his that I've loved, some I've just really disliked. This is one of the good ones. It's making me wonder (maybe he'll answer it later in the book), however, why he writes mostly horror and not as much sci-fi.
-
For me he is the best actor on Lost, the guy playing Desmond is definetely up there too. He shined again in this episode.
-
Ben on Lost, Darth Vader, much more interesting for me then say Jack or continuing with the Star Wars comparrison Luke. Maybe its that we are all a little good and a little bad inside, but we are taught, encouraged not to be bad, hence we like seeing these people play out the side of life that we really can't (though some do). Or maybe its just because I am soo f@#ked up!!
-
Think I have seen comments on this before, but any reason Juliet wasnt wearing bikini bottoms, too risque for American tv ? But then again after Siliconwatch would have thought its all good.
-
came to 2008, saw how hot Japanese girls are and had come to Japan much sooner. But then we get into Paradox territory and the science geeks come out like cockroaches in the summer.
-
Can we get a Ben spinoff, frankly am more interested in his past, the island etc, than most of the Losties.
"Hi my name is Miyamoto Musashi, I am an addict, I am addicted to Lost, it has been three days since my last fix" -
It was TOM that wanted to shoot Sayid and Co. Ben's call was a bluff - just wanted Jack to think they were dead. Ben ever do anything nice - or good, without manipulation? We haven't seen it yet!
-
also the weakest Goddard-scripted episode.
which is to say i still liked it. in fact, there was a lot of really good stuff: Harper's sudden appearance/disappearance in the rain; the return of the voices; the link between Ben's childhood crush and Juliet; the return of the Red Sox video and the new info it now contains; and, of course, the reveal of another Dharma station, the Tempest.
The problem with the ep is that, while being ostensibly about Juliet, once again managed to duck all the really obvious questions: we see her ask Ben about Zach and Emma at dinner. We don't see her immediately after the crash of flight 815 saying "why aren't we rescuing these people?", asking "why the hell are we kidnapping their children?", or asking Ben what the fuck is up with the whole list in the first place.
Think of it this way: you're a scientist brought to a mysterious island to do research on pregnant women. check. You're living in a community of apparently nice normal people, albiet who might have some big secrets. check. But you've been there a while and a plane suddenly crashes on the island. And instead of saying, "hey, why don't we contact the outside world to rescue these people", you go along with this whole bizarre plan to spy on them and kidnap their children?
As a Lost fan, i obviously don't expect all the answers to these questions upfront. I'm happy enough to be strung along for a period without being spoon fed. But it is essentially a waste of a season 4 Juliet-centric episode to use her flashbacks to explore her relationship with Ben and Goodwin but without addressing at least *some* of the major questions we have stacked up about her.
The last time we had a Juliet-centric episode, we at least found out how she came to the island, what she came for, and why she stayed. But there's still loads we don't know: how did an apparently mild-mannered baby doctor get so good with weapons, for instance? what does she know about the Others, having lived among them for 3 years? What was in her letter we saw in the mobisode? As interesting as the stuff with her and Ben was this ep, we really didn't learn buttkiss. -
Think of the beatings that guy has endured....without talking. From Sayid's "session" in the Hatch to Jack...before the second fist landed I would have been spittin out, "Jack Jack Jack! They're alive REALLY REALLY REALLY! He shot into the SAND!!!" Then again - I'm a puss. Ben should be CIA - dude has skills.
One more thing - curious what y'all think:
Plot hole, or not - When Jack flooded the Hydra, Ben slammed that door shut, possibly dooming "HIS love" to drown. We see Ben is a tough little douchnozzle (hehehehe) so this is an odd act of cowardice. Is he so sick of Juliet's rejection he wouldn't mind if she died? Gotta be, cause I don't see Ben afraid of much...except NOT having more information than an adversary. Maybe Ben has "seen" this event before and knows how it turn out. Just seems like odd behavior for him. Well - then again, he was cold-blooded toward dear old dad and knew what his betrayal would do to all the Dharma people - some of which (Annie aside) he probably liked or at least didn't dislike. He and Dexter would make a great team with their sociopathic lack of emotion.
Ben and Dexter: The Sitcom. Hmmmm got Hollywood on speed dial baby! -
I honestly don't think who's good and bad is the point. I think it's more like there are bad people doing bad things in the name of good, and you can visa versa that, sideways that, turn it upside down and shake it around that, etc. that.
Ben really believes himself to be a guy doing things in the best interest of the island. If they have to be bad things, so be it. That's what makes his character so wonderful. -
It comes to mind because I've been borrowing the DVDs from a buddy of mine. Ben's actions strike me as very similar to JJ's prior ambiguous villain, Arvin Sloane. I think Ben is a more interesting character than Sloane, I just bring up the parallel because I think it applies. JJ likes morally ambiguous characters, particularly villains. And Sloane turned out to be working on the side of good for most of Seasons 3 and 4. And yeah, he was a hugely manipulative SOB.
-
I agree node. In class this morning so didn't have time to complete my thought.
Lots of people that start out "doing good" become corrupt. If they have the power to do good, they have power. You're in DC, you know what power does to good people.
I see the Juliet Ben thing as just that. He had already had orchestrated the purge, was probably pretty proud of himself, and then decided to use that power he had to do something for himself.
Wanna bet the island didn't llok too kindly on that? -
COMICAL is free and open source http://tinyurl.com/2fe7de bottom right in the "get it down" section, for either windows or mac..are the files you have .cbr files? pdf?

Regarding the coffin at end of S3... Does anyone else think Sawyer is the one who is in it???
Just asking... -
Since he told Kate he had no reason to leave the island, I'm guessing no
-
Not sure why...
I agree that the one big hole left from this episode is how a mild mannered baby doctor becomes indoctrinated into a seemingly sociopathic, militarized cult so quickly. There has to be something that happens, some reveal, that convinces all the 'indoctrinees' that Ben is "right", and it has something to do with Jacob, and the mysterious list. What could it be? -
I'm helping 4we8 download some comics he doesn't want to buy right now. I suggested COMICAL to view his CBR files once he downloads them. He's just having troubles geting his computer to cooperate with downloads including the comical website, so I just sent him the app.
For We Ate - have you had any luck with the instructions I emailed you? If that didn't do it - (though I followed my own instructions from scratch and it worked perfectly) I have another idea. Let me know what's happening. -
it isn't Ben because (i) we've seen Ben alive in the flashforwards and (ii) even if he were later killed, it's not going to be the kind of death that gets advertised in the paper or (iii)
where the funeral arrangements are held in some poor neighbourhood in LA.
it wouldn't be any of the Oceanic Six since it would be much bigger news, given the celebrity status they have.
And it wouldn't be Locke since it's clear he'd sooner die than leave the island.
it wouldn't be Sawyer either - there's no way Kate wouldn't go to his funeral. it has to be someone Kate was at best indifferent to, at worst openly hostile. i wouldn't rule out some wild card but Michael, the guy who killed two people to get off the island, fits the bill best.
-
Hope you enjoyed the outcome Saturday night. It was a classic. Tied at 57, 60, 62, 64, 66 and 68 (I believe) and then 1 team had no more points the rest of the game. Should be an interesting tournament.
I totally agree about that sideline reporter too. About as hot a reporter as there is right now. -
I agree with Node. Ben would make alot of sense. Maybe Lathem is his alias and Sayid gets sick of doing his bidding. As desperate as Jack is to go baaaaaaaaack - I can see him getting psychotic over Ben's death (his chance at getting back). It would explain the sour look on Kate's face. Ben/Michael ..51/49 right now
Under no circumstances do I ever see Jack about to throw himself off a bridge for Sawyer.
I was getting a vibe Juliet might get back as a non-O6 member. Her in the casket would explain Jack's and Kate's reactions. But not the ghetto Hoffs-Drawler is in (they REALLY emphasize it as a poor, black neighborhood) and not the lack of visitors (sister and nephew at least).
But now after Ben's tantrum - he'd see Juliet dead before he lets her go back or be with another...ESPECIALLY Jack. No WAY Juliet gets off that island alive with loverboy Benny around. -
That's an interesting thought newc. I thought since the economist it's Sayid. Seems that he might have been found by those he was hunting down for Ben. But you might be right about being too big a celeb as the O6.
Except - according to the paper obit the name was not one of the O6...at least not of the 4 we currently know of. So it still could be Sayid if he was in hiding and took an alias. So I'm sticking with Sayid...for now.
Still, interesting thought. -
Whoever that is.
-
Whoever that is.

it's Widmore

I went to Wisconsin, so I'm a Big Ten guy, but watching Carolina/Duke...there isn't too many teams that hate each other and are so damn talented year after year like those two. If you dig Basketball, there is little more you could ask for
Mmmmm Erin Andrews. Mmmmmm. Like I said, I was at a game in Madison in September and she was out on State Street the night before the game. In short shorts and a tank top. Amazing - only guys asked for autographs. She put away a few Duck Farts too. We had $100 up for anyone who could get her to do a body shot. Alas - no one won. And believe me, the money was an unnecessary incentive. She's about 6 foot tall and those legs seem like they are 5 feet long. -
Could be. Depending on the identity. What if the Economist winds up being Christian Shepherd? I know I know, Darlton said Christan is dead DEAD. But what a twist that would be.
With the coffin you have to ask???
Why would Jack jump off a bridge for him/her?
Why would Kate despise him/her?
Why would he/she have no one to visit their funeral? (how sad that is)
Why would it be in a poor, black, LA neighborhood?
And if you believe they will work in the newspaper clipping a whole new set of questions must be answered like:
Is Latham an alias?
From NY, died in LA in a loft.
Hanging from a loft...maybe suicide?
Has a son
Am I missing anything? Sure sounds like Michael - meets ALL the criteria.
Occam's Razor folks. -
Sure...it's telegraph city...WAY too obvious a choice. But it is absolutely the only one that fits...and if the writers try to "shoehorn in" someone else now, it would just be desperation at this point.
SPOILER TIME SPOILER TIME SPOILER TIME
The freeze frame TiVo info of the Obit in the season finale gave us only vague clues...which was TPTB intent. But the production assistant who worked on that episode TRANSCRIBED the entire obit, and it only points to Michael, living under an assumed identity. If the PA's info had not been leaked...then I'd be joining you all in this fun coffin speculation...as we weren't suppose to know about the "Man from NY, survived by a teenage son" tidbits...yet...which leaves little doubt, especially when you factor in the neighborhood depicted, that no one showed up, Jack surprised that Walt wasn't even there, Kate's reaction to the murderer/traitor's funeral...Just too many blinking neon signs pointing to Mike.
END SPOILERS END SPOILERS END SPOILERS
Ok...got that outta my system. No...the person in the coffin is NOT an Oceanic 6 survivor....but it doesn't mean it's not a survivor of Flight 815 living under an assumed identity.
I also don't believe Jack was ready to throw himself off that bridge JUST because of the person in the coffin at Hoffs-Drawler...but rather, because of a COMBINATION of factors...possibly some other deaths he has had to deal with since returning back to the states. I think the H-D coffin person was simply "the last straw" for Jack.
Jack returned "home"...but found once there, he had been turned into nothing more than a liar with nothing left to "fix". -
May I introduce, the hottest sideline reporter alive.
http://tinyurl.com/2d9guh
Great song too. Watch til the end, a funny shot of some stupid shit grabbing her tit. My God, that ass...
-
Hot Hot HOT! No matter what happens to that little dude from Iowa...he still goes to bed every night saying "It was worth it".
Thanks for sharing that. Her tush is phenomenal, too! I gotta start watching Monday Night Baseball! -
That was well put. "Yeah - What He Said!"
Yup, 4we8, and his name is......SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER........................
Ji Yeon
So our big death...(SEPERATE than who will be in the coffin, btw) is going to be who?
Sun or Jin ? -
doing sideline work for Big Ten football games on ESPN. Now that she is "hot", I bet she will get whatever the biggest game is ESPN College Football. Obviously, right now she does ESPN College Basketball. What I love about her is she is single and goes out on the town before/after some games. She loves going out in Madison and I still have friends that see her out when she is town for games.
watch for her during anything ESPN/ABC now, she has really moved up the ladder.
The puke Iowa kid? If he had any sense he would have grabbed that pooper - not a quick feel of sideboob. Although, for a skinny girl, she has quite the rack. I am transfixed on the heart-shaped, athletic butt. -
IMO...Anyone BUT Michael will FEEL "shoehorned in" for me. As if...Darlton realized the cat was out of the bag...but they figured they could still get a "shock" factor by changing it to someone else.
But to me...looking at the all the MEN possibilities only...as it is clearly stated on the obit seen here:
http://tinyurl.com/2e9twy
Sawyer? Teenage son? Locke? No frickin way. Jin? In that neighborhood? Hurley? In that tiny ass coffin? Ben? You gotta be shittin me! Desmond? Why would Kate be so bitter? Sayid? Sayid is SAYID in the future, not Lantham!! Bernard? Pushin it, but he was from NY. Perhaps he chose to return, leaving Rose on the island so she wouldn't die? Can't see him leaving her, tho.
Who does that leave? M-I-C...see ya real soon....H-A-E-L...the guy deserves to die....D-A-W-S-O-N.
If it's anyone but him...TPTB will have lotsa 'splainin to do! -
NOBODY IS IN IT. That doesn't mean I'm letting Michael off the hook...it's possible his death was elaborately faked so he could return to the island and be with Walt...but that is stretching it.
Is it possible Rose has a niece or nephew in LA that she sends Bernard back to care for? Explains the neighborhood...but not the fake name...unless Bernie got the "assumed identity" treatment to go back. Still a huge stretch. Does Bernard even have a teenage son?
But that whole "obit" was fishy to begin with...first off...it looks like a NEWS report...a police blotter type notice...and those do NOT ever include funeral notifications...that goes in the OBIT section, which has to be purchased by a loved one. Seeing as how no one showed up but Jack...I'm guessing loved ones are pretty sparse.
Secondly...Police plotters do NOT report on suicides of regular civilians. Only CELEBRITY/PUBLIC FIGURE suicides are ever reported. Obviously the person in the coffin was not much of a celebrity.
It seems the writers were trying to have it both ways...a POLICE REPORT WITH DETAILS & OBITUARY NOTICE all in one. Which raises the question...a lazy ploy used by the LOST writers...or a purposeful ploy by someone who WANTED to get Jack's attention...AND get him to that funeral?
Either way...it's all very fishy. -
Were all put to rest by "The Constant".
As you saw...nobody actually PHYSICALLY travelled (ala Back to the Future) anywhere, Desmond's consciousness travelled, not his body...and better yet...the more he did it...the more dangerous it became for him...which means it won't be happening every fuckin 5 minutes on the show.
My problem was with the DeLorean, dude. No DeLorean...no problem.
BTW...I always knew TIME would play a factor in LOST...for the Malcolm David Kelley aspect alone...I knew it would be addressed...I just wanted it to be "organic" in nature...and not some sci-fi, gadgety-ass gizmo thing-a-ma-bob. THAT I would of had a problem with.
And...as I just stated in my last post...it's possible the "fishy" obit IS a red herring, too. I'm with ya, brutha! -
Goddamn that pisses me off
Doesn't she know what it took to get her here?
What it took to keep her here?

Awesome scene, Shrinker! I remember being all excited getting to meet Melissa Stark at a Buccaneers Sunday Night Football game a few years ago.
I used to shoot for the Jumbotron crew at Tampa Stadium and was always around the ESPN talent on the sidelines.
It was when I rode with her on an elevator...when I noticed it...Her UNBELIEVABLY HUGE engagement ring on her finger. Her boyfriend had dropped this huge rock on her the week before she got to Tampa!! It was simply ridiculous...like a movie prop ring.
So...my hopes for a love connection were immediately dashed...not unlike yours by this Iowa dufus. Haven't seen Melissa Stark in quite a while on TV...I imagine she's barefoot and pregnant somewhere in the Hamptons. -
a McRib in that coffin!! THAT would be a crime! I loves me some McRib.

I know what ur doing with that name...making people confused and tehn u'll kill me in my sleep....im onto u sir, ooo im onto u

if Ben is in the coffin(Big IF) then Jacks reaction is one of two things...Number one, Jack has been visited by Abbadon or Charles and knows he must keep living the lie to stay alive, he knows over time that the only way he can survive is if he gets back tot eh island....Ben is trying to keep him alive and he is a last resort to get back to the Island
Bens death= no more protection and no last resort back to the island...
im sure someone has said this but any thoughths -

I never knew this
In October of 2004, Stark left ESPN after an internal affairs issue. According to sources, Stark's behavior was causing some dissonance among the male anchors. Head anchor Chris "Boomer" Berman reportedly had a conversation with Stark asking her to stop "spooning it out" to the likes of Trey Wingo and Craig Kilborn. However, the etymology of the term "spooning it out" is still unclear
That's kinda funny.
And yeah - lives in Jersey with a little Starky. Hubby is with Goldman Sachs. More useless knowledge -
Ok - all this college talk - Node, you're an MSU Spartan - like me??? I'm a grad from way back ... well, I don't want to say, I'm old, but let's just say it's been a while since I was enrolled in E. Lansing. And edshrinker, I can't stand either form of weasel - wolverine or badger! Especially badger right now, as my beloved B-ball team hasn't been doing so hot. And your weasel coach Bo beat us again. Back on topic - I think TPTB have said that the coffin is definitely NOT empty, and that the newspaper clipping was not necessarily cannon, so take that for what it's worth. I have trouble thinking that anyone would be famous enough to get their own story in a major paper when they die, not just a complimentary obit, and yet NO ONE shows up for the funeral. Not even some curious reporter, when just months or several years earlier the Oceanic 6 were some of the most recognizable faces in America. At least Kate was. I'm still thinking it's someone that was NOT a member of the Oceanic 6, and I'll stick with that until proven otherwise!!!!

How long does it take an episode to load on sidereel? My wife's friend is obsessed with the Brit comedy Shameless, but only season 1 is available here in the US. So I tried on Sidereel, but nothing seems to be happening. Takes a few hours to download, MP?

theBigE download "utorrent" install it,then use its search feature...you will have all 5 seasons of shameless by morning

wanted to see the Speed Racer trailer so I jumped TBs. YOu sure as hell don't need my help though I was tempted to jump on Milla and the other morons that wouldn't know humor if it hit them in the package. This line, will be seared into memory, however:
Take your vomit-reeking index finger and shove it up your bony ass
YOu will be forever quoted my friend. Though the real Milla - kinda got a thing for her.

He is right. I just got 4we8 online with BitTorrent. It is IMO the best and fastest way to quality...everthing. Movies, TV, Applications, Comics, Books, Audio...
Ask 4we8 what he thinks so far. But I have been on it for a couple of years, I lve it, it is a regular community to itself. I seed a bunch of stuff (including LOST - I get it up about 1 1/2 hours after it air, commercial free of course). Torrents are the way to go.
Sidereal is ok if you wanna catch a show you missed or past eps of stuff. You can watch it right there on the site. Takes longer to download, 90MB took about 15 minutes which isn't bad. I have a fast PC though. Crappy quality. A good hour show in decent quality compressed will run close to a GB. OK quality, around 350MB. I'm not an expert though -
Jeez

Has ANYONE played the smarmy, evil, douchebag rival boyfriend better in a movie than Kilborn did in Old School? God...he just oozed nauseating slicksterism to a T.
Some might argue the dude who played Zach in Wedding Crashers...but he was way over the top. Perhaps Spader in Less than Zero...But I actually KNOW pathetitic egomaniacs like Kilborn played.
I could totally see Kilby porkin' Stark on Berman's desk in Bristol. -

Bo (fuhgeddaboutit) Ryan has been in state for like. 120 years coaching at UW-Milwaukee, UW-Smallshitown, UW-Beerdrinkingsloth, and so on. Nobody would hire him. He sure did the most with his opportunity when the Big 10 called. Christ - his record is fuckin EQUAL with Roy Smith, Coach K, etc... Now - can he get us to the big one? MSU did this conference proud a couple years ago with a title - but you fuckers knocked us out of the final 4 that year.

but what the hell are you supposed to do when
1. No one has a sense of humor
2. No one will argue the points raised

Ok, while we're off topic - your boy Bo can't win in the NCAA tourney, ed. He can't whine and get the officials to get the calls his way when he's out of the Kohl center. March is MSU time! I have to load a bit torrent player first before watching shows on sidereel and pirate bay, right? I'm not very tech savvy. Again, I'd be glad to pay $ for the DVD's if they were available, so don't bust me anyone!
-
Sidereel will just play in a window on the webpage. Quick, dirty, and passable.
Download a BitTorrent App, and it will allow you to go to a site like Pirate Bay, search for whatever you want, gives you pages of options, choose which file is best(do you want a quick download, small file, larger file with better quality, a file with all the episodes in one large file, etc...)click the link and the App (u Torrent in my case)will start downloading the file. You can watch it's progress on the screen (going from 0% - 100%). Once its done, you go to your downloads file and presto! What you ordered sir!
There are pointers...like download files that have more seeders than leechers - stuff like that. I can help you - just drop me an email. Here is uTorrent's website - they explain it gooder (smiles) and have a tutorial.
http://www.utorrent.com/?client=utorrent1770 -
is ehansen@nc.rr.com
Again - 4we8 has just started his journey - I was up til 3am helping him get going. He just made one critical error. It's really not a big deal to get started. And once you do...good times.

Anyone see the neak peek with the ship's capt and the Black Box?
-
I like to be unspoiled. I did see the little clip at ABC.com, which I'm sure is from the first 5 minutes of the next episode, that showed Desmond and Sayid on the ship and SPOILER!!!!!!!! they get a note that says not to trust the captain. SPOILER!!!!! But I haven't/ won't watch the rest. Thanks for the sidereel info, ed. I'm passing it along to the friend. Sun, or rather the actress that plays her, was just on the TV guide channel! I'm not watching, I'm actually in the middle of a project, but she was flirting with the TV host and talking about being single and dating. You can only dream, single guys!

...another MiSfIt nugget...
JACOB is actually an acronym for "Just Another Chain Of Ben's".
What a glorious nutball. -
It's funnier that way, which I guess is why he originally wrote it that way.

If you were on the island, and Jacob was revealed to be some kind of a god, would you worship him? Or would you call him "just another chair?"

...I would obviously worship him, but ThEmIsFiT (the self-proclaimed World's Greating LOSTigator) isn't impressed.

One little mistake - and that was enough to keep you frustrated. And now you know. You are growing in the force my young Padawan

Watched the spots on DUFO. That was a hell of a reveal in that last one...even though it was widely specked.
Thanks -
thanks for the digging on that. Good to know - though I really with it were real. That would have this board buzzing with speculation.

Podcast reveal? Possible spoiler. Possible spoiler. Possible spoiler. Possible spoiler. They say "Since Juliet is still in play..." Does that mean at some point she won't be? Possible spoiler. Possible spoiler. Possible spoiler. Possible spoiler.

You seem to be reasonable. So when some trollers attack you (ie Speed Racer TB), don't sink down to their level. Just simply attack them on their argument.

More in what you referred to in your #13 post above. At least twice during that response they made biblical references...not so much exerpts from the bible as they were on a biblical story type scale. Once they mentioned a priest during his life having doubts and his finding his path again, and once they even said the word biblical, although for th life of me I can't remember what they said.
Of course I'm only mentioning this to reinforce my overall theory posted a few weeks back.
That and to give you a chance to shout out the part of the subject of this post that reminds you of another show.

It happens to a lot of guys.

To defend Locke. It's not exactly blind following, is it? He crashes on an island and he can walk again. He sees a cabin in the woods that can magically disappear and reappear. A lot of people in his shoes would have faith that the island is special and that he is there for a reason.
-
It depends on teh speed of ur connection but ive a solid enough connection 2.2 or something like that and I get the episode in an hour....i just let her load up and watch her through, no waiting for it to load whilst watching..that would bug me bad...
node great podcast extracts....woohoo, more smokie to come, more Locke and more weird shit..woohoo -
Basically (very basically) that it's all about the battle between science and faith...maybe accumulating in the final battle. Watching who sides where when, the outcome of their choice on a personal level, etc.
-
Im liking this Norm kinda response.....good work
-
Basically, I think you're right
-
But both Jack and Locke have killed at this point (although the gun wasn't loaded in Jack's case). Jack tried to kill Locke in a rage while Locke killed Naomi because he thought the she was a threat. I'm not even sure he meant to kill her. Also, he didn't have it in him to kill Jack. Or his dad. Having said that, I think killing in the name of [insert god here] is wrong and always in violation of the core tenets of aforementioned faith. Killing is just wrong in general. I say this because I don't want you to think I'm a killing apologist.
-
Locke is one of my favorite characters. But let's face it...he's a crazy f*ck...granted a sympathetic crazy f*ck. He was abandoned and abused (emotionally) all throughout his life and in fact his own father tried to kill him. The guy was a complete mess- lonely, angry at the world, without any purpose. Suddenly he's been given instant wish fulfillment by being on the island and now he is willing to kill for it. But as Node said, he doesn't even know why he is killing or what he is protecting. For all we know, Locke has just made a deal with the devil. The easiest people to manipulate are the desperate and angry.
-
He blew up my ride home (sub) just a week or so ago. 'click'
-
if you think Jack was justified in killing Locke. Regardless of his attempts to prevent the losties from leaving the island, he hasn't tried to kill anyone. A more reasoned response would be to lock Locke up. I understand where Jack is coming from, but the only reason he pulled the trigger is because of how insanely angry he was.
-
It would have been after the Boone fiasco. I really think that's when I would have done it. I remember actually feeling intense rage when watching that episode.
-
At least that's how Locke sees it...even way back in S1 when Boone died. In all actuallity, Locke killed him too by wrecklessness.
And this goes back to what the podcast mentioned. A priest has a calling. At times he may doubt his faith and stumble to regain it. That's what happened with Locke when the hatch exploded, and from what I gathered from the podcast will also happen to Locke again this season.
Even with all that said, I again reitterate that good men do bad things over and over again in the name of what they perceive to be good. The crusades, Joseph McCarthy, etc. Sometimes what they think is good isn't.
How will all of that play out here? dunno. But I'd be willing to bet my Hubdub fortune (look it up) it plays into the meaning of this show. -
Locke took a chance killing everyoneon the island - or atleast Des, Charle, Eko, and himself hen he locked up the hatch, shattered the Tandy TRS-80 thereby causing the 108 to run out. Lock ven admtted to Des he just fucked up. SO Boone DID die due to his supidity, Naomi died for no goddamn good eason, and he came close to killing those otherswith the hath - only the funky island science saved them.
NOT a Jack apologist. But I undertand the rge he felt and old see how someone coulld snap an want to pull that trigger when you ad it all up. That bald beauty has been Jack's foil. He blew up his ride now he's killing he people here to ave them all. My responsemay very well have been
'click' 'click' 'click''click' -
Locke did mean to kill Naomi. Lol. I like your rebuttal. I had absolutely nothing. As far as killing, you are right. There are certainly times when killing is justified. Self defense, for instance. But the problem is that there is a justification for nearly everything. Even self defense can become a flimsy justification the further and further you remove the aggressor from the act. It's the clear and present danger, idea. When do you know when the threat is real and not perceived? Often times there is a grey zone. Which is why I tend to side for the idea of "don't kill". In any event, Locke is crazy. I forgot about the hatch.
-
How can you tell if someone is actually called by God? You can't. And I don't personally think God would call the Hebrews to slaughter wholesale women, children, and cattle just to establish their nation. Seems like God could think of a different way of doing the same thing.
-
True. But there is a major difference between someone walking up to you and telling you that they want to kill you and that same person walking up to you with a gun in their hand and pointing it at you, turning the safety off, cocking it and aiming it. Locke killed Naomi when she may or may not have been a threat. Not all killings are out of self preservation though. A lot are acts of passion, some are mental instabilities. Um...what were we talking about?
-
My point was trying to look at good and evil without bringing a deity into it. With that being said, I think you are absolutely right. There are those who ligitimatly are called...I won't say of God, but I will say to a higher calling. 2 examples IMO are Mother Teresa and Billy Graham.
What makes Locke's character so compelling is he is called by "the island", and he believes that to be a higher calling. He has seen wonderful and majestic things. His faith in this is guiding him. But his faith has led him to do bad things. He is single-minded in his faith much of the time, and at times it has foresaken him. But he only comes back even more single minded. To me, that's his flaw....and what I fear for some will become a deadly flaw. -
That's what I think is brilliant about this show. The way they used the island as this metaphor for God and Locke as a man of faith. So far it has examined the dangers of faith and its good qualities. I'm assuming they are going to do the same thing with the man of science. I hope the writers follow these two conflicting ideologies to a conflict. It is one of the main reasons I keep tuning in every week.
-
i really hope they have alot more in store for her,as in..left behind on the island for whatever reason, while the 6 are back home lamenting what happened ...i hope she is still on the island,(and not dead)6 episodes this year and she's been in what..8 scenes?
-
I'm right there with you TM. And as the others (so to speak) do, please call me rb.
Pa - your idea to speculate away, I think you should go 1st. -
My spec is that the S4 storyline will be off the island and the flashbacks will be back to the island...fill in the blanks (so to speak) of why they left.
-
How will the Oceanic 6 (5? whatever number remains) get back to the Island? Jack couldn't do it in TTLG. That's going to be a great question to solve. And who will be there when they get back??? So many questions remain, so many answered, so many new ones spring up!
-
Okay, another limb here, but my guess is the 6 that get off are banished. Ben, not amongst the 6, banished. Locke is the new Ben and his new power the island has bestowed on him is corrupting him.
So if you are banished from a hidden place, how do you get back? Interesting question. More interesting, does that banishment put Jack and Ben on the same side against Locke? The enemy of my enemy is my friend senario.
Or maybe it is Ben in the coffin and Jack takes up his fight to get back. To banish Locke.
You know, at some point we have to go back....no...not go back to room 23...well, there too, but go back and read all the theories posed here. Those that weren't used would make a hell of a story.
;-> -
Why Kate and not scrumptious ClaireBear is caring for Baby Aaron? Was ClairBear: 1. Killed? 2. GAve up, gave baby away? 3.Kate STOLE Aaron for whatever reason. .............and many more possibilities. I want THAT little sexy, prickteaseor
Team Jack better keep him on a short leash. He went from beating Ben to an inch of death. The gun at Locke's head, you have to disturbed to be that -
Any luck on BitTorrent yet??
-
I haven't tried bitTorrent yet. I'm on sidereel right now, but the show I want won't load. I've tried several different shows, downloaded the DivX player - no luck. I did get one show to play for a few minutes, but what I'm looking for has a picture on screen, a "play" arrow on the screen, and the message "This may take a while to load, so be patient." But every time I click the arrow, I get the same screen, no show. I'd appreciate more help, but I am swamped with work right now! I'm not going to have time to mess with it until next weekend - Easter, I get Friday off. So I'll let you know if I need more help - thanks. At least I don't have to rely on it for Lost!

a couple TBs back about Angel - was it worth it?
I will answer wth an episode.
If you feel like 40 minutes of jaw dropping entertainment, check out the link below - it is an ep where I broke my own "WTF" moments during an hourlong. ESPECIALLY THE END. Must watch the end and remember these guys are best friends.
There is alot goingon - you are dropped in the middle of a big story arc. A few heads-up:
Angel's baby was kidnapped by Wes. Wes has read a prophesy that Angel would kill his son. And the bad guys had been sending Angel the baby's blood mixed in with his supply, so he WAS acting weird.
While escaping, Wes runs into a lackie of Angels mortal enemy (Holtz). She fools Wes, slits his neck, and takes the kid.
Holtz knew there was only 1 place Angel couldn't come after him and the kid -he gets sarjean to open a portal to a hell demention - off thet go. Angel can't follow. So this ep is about finding a way to get to Connor (baby), Gunn and Fred (Angel's partners)really want to fiind Wes so Angel doesn't first. ENJOY!

It is ep17 in season 3

WHenever you're ready....let's end your frustration and you up and going in the BitTorrent community. Easter weeked- drop me a note, I'll be around as well (I'm off)

Ausiello: I have it on good authority that Nestor Carbonell has inked a deal to reprise his role as ageless island dweller Richard in at least one of this season's final five episodes. In confirming the news, exec producer Carlton Cuse (i.e., the good authority I spoke of earlier) described the former Cane thesp as "a tremendous actor" whose "return will lead to some very interesting revelations
THIS places permagrin on my face as I leave for work. Man, do I look creepy! -
Not sure if you've seen these or not, but there's a new set of Avis commercials featuring cars jealous of their owner's rental experience. The voice of the car in each of the several commercials is Clancy, who played Kelvin...Des's hatch mate.
-
Des asked it. So did Kelvin. Are you him? Did they ever answer the question who him is? I know we think they meant their replacement, but do we know this for a fact?
-
Richard being back is wonderful news. Can't wait to see what revelations will come from his return.
On a side note, anyone seen him in the Batman trailers? He's talking to Gordon. I found it ironically funny Batmanuel is in TDK. -
Or was that the suttle chirp of cricketts from far away?
-
That was the sound of a tumbleweed blowing gently by.
-
i have not heard all the podcasts,i am curious if the "whispers" have ever been addressed by the show runners..are they just added for atmosphere? creepy factor? would love a link if anyone has one
-
Let me know if it doesn't work.
http://tinyurl.com/2469cq
-
There's a transcript of what the whispers are said to be saying at this link. Some of them are a bit odd since they are coming out differently in separate speakers.
http://tinyurl.com/2t8teo
Just scroll down a bit and click on the season you want and read away. It's quite interesting....and they are not just atmosphere or there as a creepy factor. -
there is more than one Jacob, just like there is more than one smokie....
and lets not forget the 'Help me' plea to Locke, maybe he is trying to call out to other losties but their Island power is not up to scale with Locke's yet, so it just sounds like whispers, wher eLocke can hear teh full voice -
Shouldn't you be in training for the upcoming holiday?
;-> -
...I was reading today, and one of the early ones said something like he's near the gate. In last week's or the previous week's talkback, someone said something about Jacob and Jacob's ladder, so I did some research and posted that Jacob's ladder was basically the stairway to the gates of heaven.
Coincidence? -
Ausiello: Actually, it earns you something even better: some exclusive casting prattle! I have it on good authority that Nestor Carbonell has inked a deal to reprise his role as ageless island dweller Richard in at least one of this season's final five episodes. In confirming the news, exec producer Carlton Cuse (i.e., the good authority I spoke of earlier) described the former Cane thesp as "a tremendous actor" whose "return will lead to some very interesting revelations."
-
Or something like it. Coming home from work yesterday, the radio DJ was mentioning a recent study that guys would agree with I'm sure. What percent of guys would risk smoke monsters, strange Others, and polar bears to be trapped on a desert island with Evangeline Lily? Survey says - 53%. Sound about right?
-
Before Ana Lucia shot Shannon they were saying:"Shannon, she likes the guy. Shannon, your life and time is up. Help me. Meet me on the other side. Her song..." Fuckin creepy! *shivers*
-
A vulture just flew by.
NEW TB IN 12 SHORT HOURS. Do we hit 1000 here??
There is a "whispers" section at Dark Ufo
http://tinyurl.com/257f9h
Hey Smut peddler - love the enthusiasm and yes ut is great news. But I posted that word for word about 16-17 posts up. You might want to read the posts before you post. It's kinda the polite thing to do. No offense, mate ;D
-
One more thing - somebody (The Lost Initiative I think) said "their coming, Sarah" in Christian's voice is clearly heard. These exact words are quoted in other eps whispers. THAT is creepy. Christian did have Sarah's cell #. What if something is going on here with Jack's Ex as well? {brrrrrr}
-
This TB has run it's course - how about a top 5 list to get us through until tomorrow?
-
Is the island like the movie "The Others" with Nicole Kidman? Living and the Dead have to learn to exist together? I've wondered if some of the Others are ghosts.
-
That guy is INDESTRUCTABLE!!
heheh... can't believe nobody threw that out yet...
Little ate to the party and it took me DAYS to get through all these posts! anyone miss me? no? ok
I actually just returned home on a flight from Sydney and they put me in the back of the plane - I thought hey! I'm a tailie! Then I thought... oh no!!
So my two cents on this latest ep-
Harper - NOT the real Harper! Think about this scene for a moment - Juliet (a former OTHER) hears whispers and doesn't think "oh that would be the guys I ussed to hang with" but instead FREAKS OUT like the 815ers do whenever THEY hear that shit - in other words the whispers are NOT the OTHERS!
Said it before, these appearances are "the island" - not the smoke monster but something else - I'm thinking JACOB!
EVERY time they are all about telling somebody "you have work to do" - even Ben seeing his mother ("her") who tells him to stay away from that sonic fence - as soon as Richard heard him say he saw his mother he KNEW - that was JACOB!
I'm thinking either Jacob cannot take his own form outside of that shack, or he's using some tech to allow him to speak to people outside the shack but only in the form of people scanned from their memories by smokie...
NEXT!
So I don't really think it's MIKHAIL - I think Michael is on that boat - like I said on that mega 10,000 post talkback last year - but I'm thinking Michael is NOT Ben's man! I think he's being helped by the guy, just like Sayid and Des. I also agree with whoever said last week that Michael (and Walt?) is time trippin like Des and that may well be the NY flashback we're getting. DONT TRUST THE CAPTAIN! Could that guy be Ben's man?? Why would Locke have to sit down for that?
So... about Ben... He is definitely NOT one of the good guys! Come on!! He is an absolute CLASSIC bad guy! And all that stuff about "trust me I'm one of the good guys" - REALLY! Let me break this down using an analogy - STAR WARS, which we know the producers love to reference...
SENATOR PALPATINE constantly tells people I'm one of the good guys - THAT'S HOW HE GETS PEOPLE TO WORK FOR HIM! He convinces everyone to give him a whole bloody ARMY of "good guys" - clones - but everyone he's got working for him ends up just serving his own EVIL purposes! THE WHOLE TIME he is telling everyone I'm ONE OF THE GOOD GUYS!
Oh yeah I almost forgot - again can't believe nobody thought of this - Lewis and Faraday!
They were totally LYING about what they were doing - which was HACKING that system so that THEY now control that system! It looked so obvious to me - they uploaded a VIRUS that went through all the systems and changed permissions over to THEM - that's why Faraday kept putting in the same command over and over again - he's getting PERMISSION DENIED - PERMISSION DENIED - PERMISSION DENIED - and suddenly he gets PERMISSION GRANTED. That poison gas system is now under WIDMORE'S CONTROL!
Speaking of Widmore, I thought watching last week (can't remember if I posted this thought) - what if WIDMORE is the GOOD GUY?
What has he done so far - first he's like "you're not marrying my daughter" to Des - JUST LIKE the woman in the jewellery store - because he's not SUPPOSED TO! Then he's bidding on the Black Rock log book and he HELPS Des get in touch with his daughter - and (I know I posted this part) he seems to KNOW what Des is going to say before he says it! I think Widmore is another temponaught, like Des, and he is making sure things happen RIGHT - you know, so the world doesn't end an all...
Seriously if it's Ben vs Widmore then I think from what we've seen so far it's pretty CLEAT who is the bad guy here!
And I'm sticking to Juliet in the coffin until I get a better idea -
LATE to the party...
CLEAR who is the bad guy...
etc... -
call me Captain Obvious
-
But I'm betting that it's NOT Mikhail! Also, TPTB say will see Harper again. But she sure seemed ghostly to me!
-
statement by Lindelhoff the Hobbit. He started a statement, "WHILE JULIET is STILL in play..." So what does thid say between the lines? Don't make me ask the miSfIt to get his spoon out to catch this one.
It says to me Juliet will very soon be NO LONGER IN FUCKING PLAY!!!! OOOOOOOh, great Googly Moogly we may lose the best rack on the island. We still have Claire's pooper (for now). -
nah I'm pretty sure Mikhail is dead - but I thought someone would have thought of Mr Unbreakable as a possibility already...
I don't think he's got enough hair to be the guy Sayid and Des are looking at - that's gotta be the other Michael - but wouldn't it be cool if it WAS?
If you Wiki the name Mikhail Bakunin you get an interesting bio of a Russian Revolutionary from the 19th century - I seriously doubt this is going to happen, but wouldn't it be cool if it was the SAME GUY - still alive after all this time?? -
need more claire,i just watched last weeks again...she is gorgeous..
-
I'll do it. lol
-
This edition of the Top 5 is about predictions on what happens to the other Losties after the Oceanic 6 goes home. This Top 5 goes from character to character. Let me go first...
-
and no spoilers involved please.
-
Claire: Dies after getting shot by Locke for not believing in Jacob.
-
Rose and Benard: live happily and healthily ever after, after moving to the baracks.
-
Sawyer: Makes the ultimate sacrifice by giving his life so that Kate can leave the island with baby Aaron... No more Sawyerism's for us. *sniff*
-
Smokie: He goes Ape shit on everyone he comes in contact with. It kills left over freightes. It leaves a path of destruction through the jungle, it only yields when it sees John Locke.
-
Nice theories. I really hope Mikhail is still alive. He makes an awesome baddie.
-
John Locke: After coming face to face with the smoke monster, smokie goes in to a different direction slowly. Locke follows it through the jungle. Passed the Black Rock, passed the baracks. Suddenly smokie stops in front of a familiar cabin. Locke hesitates to open the door. He finally enters to hear the sound of a woman crying. As he investigates the sound he see's a woman with her back to him. He reaches out to console her but before he does she turns around. The woman stops crying and she starts smiling. She says" Ive been waiting on you for a very long time John where have you been?!" And John's face looks puzzled. He then asks,"Helen??!!"....(thump) L O S T
-
Juliet will try and kill Kate, but will end up killing Claire instead. This will result in Aaron needing a mother. Shocked by her actions Juliet runs off into the jungle. Kate promises a dying Claire that she will take care of Aaron, Jack is in shock that his new love has killed his sister.
-
Sawyer tells Kate that she needs to go back to get Aaron away from this and that the courts will understand. Given that there is only six spots (excluding Aaron), Sawyer understands that he has to stay, he jokes that he needs to protect those who can't go back, he wants to tell Kate he loves her, but says something like "Don't do anything I wouldn't do Freckles"
-
Rose, Bernard and those not part of the 6 return to the Barracks, they search for Locke, but can't find him, they are then confronted by Richard and the Others who have come to take their camp back. Richard explains that Jacob has instructed that they are to become part of those who will protect the Island and Jacob has chosen Locke to lead them. Locke with a beaming smile instructs them to shoot a rebellious Sawyer and that it will be a lesson to the rest to stay in line. Sawyer manges to flee into the jungle with shots ringing around him, the hunt is on for Sawyer.
-
One of the ship's crew indicates to Desmond that he will need to assist them with getting the other passengers off the island. They take off but land on another boat. Desmond is confronted by Charles Widmore who says "its time we had a talk" a confused Desmond asks what is going on, one of Widmore's heavies knocks Desmond out cold, and Desmond is dragged away.
-
Sayid is on the boat, as it departs with the rest of the Oceanic 6, he excuses himself and goes down a few decks to an isolated area, he gets a tap on the back and sees Ben who says "Let me tell you about my plan" ....(thump) L O S T
-
I'm jus sayin - wouldn't it be COOL if...
sheesh! -
And not bad either, Miyamoto-mushai! I'm too tired to be creative, but not feeling well enough to sleep. And where's our new TB??
-
You are correct sir - 2weeks ago. And there was much rejoicing. But that exact QUOTE just appeared via podcast. That is what I was referring to. He copied and pasted an exact quote I posted 16 posts previous. All hail your glorious scoopage...I didn't mean to step on your toes, brutha!
Maniaq - how about cutting me a little slack. We are dealing with consciousness jumping, time traveling, smoke monsters, slaughtered hippie geniuses with secret island bases, etc. To suggest an empty coffin and multiple island appearances (including Missing Pieces where Christian actually refers to Jack as "my son") could mean in some form Christian could play a part in the future...
NOT TO MENTION Darlton has said Christian WILL be a part of the future....
TO sugest it would be cool if he turns out to be the Economist...
Well, double sheesh and rabbit poop up your left nostril!
(sorry - I'm not a real angry type guy, not good with the insults. Plus I'm not really mad at cha Maniaq - you always have great posts) -
Hey Paul! You go for any of the big stuff yet??
-
Dude, you never sleep! I'm East Coast, but I have to get up early (6 am or before.)
-
things yet on the Misfit. Someone dumb enough to refute every point he made as if the miSfIt was being serious. Wow. That is a little frightening I could run into that person someday (not the MisFit - that'd be alright - the responder).
-
I sleep about 4 hours. Go to the gym early then off to work. Ever since grad school I haven't needed much. Mornin Big E! Nice to see you. Hope you have a good day at work. C U on the new TB this evening!
-
In your vulture flew by post above you got on peddler for not reaing the other posts since you had posted the same thing he posted.
Loved what you said later about the Juliet and the podcast. Take a look what I said Mar 11th, 2008
10:52:43 AM.
Granted, I posted possible spoiler warnings and you might have missed it. But it is nice to see we're on the same track. -
Anyone else thinking that somehow Desmond is going to find his way back to the island before the O6 get off? His storyline and his relationship with Penny is too strong to end already (or at the end of this season). I think, since we know Widmore is responsible for the ship, maybe he will instruct his crew to refuse to allow Desmond to leave the island. So somehow he will be dupped into going back to the island and being stuck there. I like Desmond, and I want him to be reunited with Penny, just not yet!
-
No - caught your post. Its what made me catch what was said on the podcast. I should have given you credit for mentioning it earlier. I was more excited to be able to throw in another line about Juliet's rack and Claire's ass. But we are thinking on the same lies.
The reason I got on smut was the posts were close together (albeit 8 hours apart and he copied and pasted THE EXACT SAME THING and that was all, so he obviously poted without reading...a pet peeve of mine. It's cool - not like I flamed him, he's had solid posts and seems like a good guy. Just my 2 cents. -
mmmmm or...are they lies????
dum dum dum! -
lol..sorry about posting "non news" i must have missed your post,i apologize
-
think we may have our wires crossed coz I'm not sure what you're talking about but if I offended you it wasn't on purpose...
sometimes my posts sound a little angry when I read them back but I try not to flame any individuals, even when there's bait waiting for me - what would be the point?
I like reading these talkbacks just as much as I like writing them...
