Will Spring 2011 Be A Franchising Nexus For Disney?? TRON News, And More!!
Merrick here...
WALL*E-WONKA, who has contributed to AICN before, sent along a few details about what Disney has coming up in a few years. At the moment, all roads lead to early 2011.
He says the new TRON project will be presented in 3D.
CARS 2 is also being eyed for a 2011 slot, along with a third NATIONAL TREASURE film and a fourth PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN.
In regards to PIRATES, two dramatically conflicting assessments about how a fourth film might be approached have been making the rounds.
Some indications suggest the film's story would be far more contained than its predecessors, allowing for a budget-friendly downsizing.
On the opposite end of the spectrum, there's been unsubstantiated talk that a fourth film would go the other way completely...think in terms of ultra fantastical (dinosaurs, Jules Verne-esque floating fortresses, etc.) Not sure how I feel about either notion, to be honest. Not sure if I even care to see a fourth PIRATES film at all.
It's a long time before 2011 & things are likely to change a bit between now & then...so don't this info as being set in stone. For example, it might make far more sense...in many ways...to spread these projects out, presuming all of them (or only some of them) come to fruition.
More on this as more comes in...
TRON" will be in
3-D, slated for Spring 2011 and also coming in 2011;
CARS 2, National Treasure 3 and Pirates 4, no plot on
any of those yet.

I'm there. (I write this from my place in line outside the theater.)

...ALL are crap ideas. Tron will be "Tron-in-name-only" as you can't reproduce a concept that was ahead of its time, but is now outdated. Cars 2? LOVED Cars, but a sequel is completely unnecessary. National Treasure 3? Milking. Pirates 4? Beating a fucking dead horse. Of course all will be successful and I won't doubt Cars 2 will actually be worthwhile.
-
Been camped out here for two months--ever since I read about this on Wikipedia two months ago.
-
The first one was cute and a nice homage to Route 66. I still think the story was not as good as most other Pixar films. I hope I will eat my words when it comes out cause I love Pixar.
Must go back to pretending to work before the boss walks by.
Happy Friday! -
The third one was horrible. If anything you're better off renting the Pirates porno floatin around.

Just cut out the unnecessary 30+ minutes in Pirates 3 and release it.
-
you earned from your previous headline. You are a hack piece of shit, just stop contributing to the site, it was already bad enough before you got here...

Because the presence of Capt. Jack pretty much makes or breaks any future Pirates entry.
-
"TRONNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!!"
-
Let the sequel-naming begin! :)
-
He and John Travolta must both me members of the Shitty Hair Club for Men. Maybe they should just have their hair CGId in from now on. Does Nic Cage's wig get a screen credit?
HAIR LOOMING! -
Didn't they say all they needed to with the first one.
-
Bring it!
-
why not?
-
I have no idea how they can make Tron, honestly, since it was based on going into the video game world back when video games didn't strive to look like the real world. That allowed them to create this beautiful unique elseworld for the characters to adventure in that still stands up today.
I'm not saying they shouldn't try to do it but I'm fascinated to see what they come up with. Very risky project. Still there's always room in my life for neon bike cars that make 90 degree turns at the speed of sound. :D -
Set it in 1983 and have it star Will Farrell and Jack Black! :D
-
OH PLEASE, DROP THE PIRATES!!
They shouldn't even have gotten that much "Seventh Sea" in the third one... DINOSSAURS???
Screw that. -
How is Pixar pushing out Toy Story 3 and Cars 2 out at the same time? Granted they are wizards there, but no way they can do justice to both. Just the concept of Cars 2 sounds like a direct to DVD movie.
Tron? That would kick-ass if it was turned over to Pixar, where you have real life and Pixar animation combined. Plot - Pixar animators are put inside their own toons.
POTC 4? How many of the principals would actually return or would they completely re-franchise it like Star Wars?
National Treasure 3? Why do I get this impression that as long as they are gonna make Indiana Jones, they're gonna make National Treasure movies. Who's ready for Nic Cage in his 60s searching for a Jell-O stain in the Watergate Hotel that leads to buried treasure?
-
are a fucking abomination.
-
Depp was great but his shtick was getting old there at the end.
-
Do we really need another Chevron commercial? And I'd like to formally suggest that Hollywood stop employing Larry the cable guy. He MUST be stopped!
-
Cars was by far the worst of the Pixar movies but it probably appealed to all the idiot NASCAR fans out there. They love Larry the Cable Guy and they take their kids to see Cars. It wasn't awful but Incredibles! C'mon! You'd think Disney would do an Incredibles sequel just because superhero movies are still so big right now.
-
Love that movie!
-
Larry the cable guy or Nascar? Is there a lesser of 2 evils there?
-
Pixar=John able to eat ;)
Will Tron 2 be based on the game?
End of line... -
I was pleasntly suprised when the first pirates wasn't half as horrible as I thought it would. Another suprisingly good film stretched out into a terrible trilogy. The second two films sucked and I'm pretty sure the good will built up by the first one is gone. While I love Tron, I have to agree the first was ahead of its time and any sequel will now be outdated. The window of opportunity is most likely gone.
-
Love that shit.
-
then they become public domain. Snow White is first on the chopping block. You know somewhere some nerd has some animated dwarf porno waiting to be released. He's just sitting on it until then.
-
God i know the film was a pet project of lasseter but it was the shittest pixar film so far. The Incredibles needs a sequal damn it!
-
Go wild with it. Only to take it to the next ludicrous level will make any sense after part 2 and 3.
-
my sons are gonna go nuts!
thanks, disney. how many cheap-ass-made-in-china toys am i gonna hafta buy for this fukker. -
That's what it comes down to, that's why this sequel is being pushed. Now, don't go trying to disprove me, looking up box office mojo and saying Cars didn't do any better than any other Pixar movie. That's true, but have you seen the toy aisle in the last couple of years? Cars has been and continues to be a HUGE merchandising boon to Disney! It's ridiculous! Ratatouille had non-existant merchandising, but there's still a huge array of toys for cars on the shelf!
I probably shouldn't admit this, but... I'm a cashier at Walmart at the moment. Yeah yeah, make fun of my job later. But let me tell you, Cars toys are the single most bought toy line we have at walmart! it's insane! And not just kids either. the little die cast cars have been huge in the car collector markets. New waves of Cars die cast vehicles are big news in the toy world.
That's why theres a cars 2 coming in 2011. Of all the Pixar properties, (besides maybe Toy Story, and there's another one of those coming too,) Cars has been a huge merchandising money maker. They're not out to make a Cars 2 because they think there's more story to tell. Only more money to be had. Cars 2 is Pixar's crassest decision to date. It's only about the money. -
WTF is this? Other than Tron 3D, I wouldn't see any of those proposed sequels.
-
He's a registered corporate trademark, as long as Disney Corp exists, Mickey will not enter public domain.

I'd like to see a Pirate film done like Master Commander.
by kikuchiyoboy
I don't think I;ll be seeing anything like that in the near future so... BRING ON THE DINOS!
-
So is Disney going to try and turn every character into a corporate trademark? You know they're trying to come up with a plan to keep everything in their domain.
-
Yes, the first one made money, but since it sucked VERY hard, nobody will care for part 2!
-
'cause you know he will.
-
Spaceballs, the flame thrower!
-
"The search for more money!"

Adorable
-
Let Blue Sky and Dreamworks churn out shitty sequels. Pixar/Disney you want to be the gold standard, or just a producer of rehased trite. I'm calling you out Lasseter and Bird!
-
I'm sold just on the ludicrousness of it all. As long as Jack's back I'm in. I have to wonder though if they'll at some point in the franchise answer the age old question of Pirates Vs. Ninja.. -
You have to wonder what other bits of ludicrousness will occur in future movies, here's just a couple of random ideas that (knowing Hollywood) would likely occur
Pirates Of The Carribean go to the future (or Pirates...In The Hood)
Pirates.....In....SPPAACCE....
Pirates Vs. Aliens. Vs. Predator.
Pirates Of The Carribbean:The Haunted Mansion
Pirates And The Giant Robots -
Why is it when referring to Pirates it's pronounced the Cara-be-an, but if you go there on vacation it's Ca-rib-ian? That's been bugging me for the longest time. -
it's one of the only movie toy product lines to actually have sales increase each year following the original movie release.
-
the cool thing about the first pirates was that it was semi-real and kind of fit with the pirates mythos..cursed treasure, ghosts, etc...then it just got too over the top, more "Pirates live in a world of magic", less "pirates are real, and there is something to their tales". its like a joke of itself now. Way to ruin pirates.
-
Hee hee. That still is funny as hell and more relevent than ever.
-
Now if Disney announced this I'd be very excited about this future project especially if they intend it to be an animated feature.
A live action sequel would be better. -
I love the trilogy too much to see its fantasticly satisfying and climactic ending be ruined by a mediocre 4th production.
Even if the movie is awesome, the trilogy works fine the way it is. If I ever have influence over a big franchise (which would obviously never happen) I'm gonna kill every character off by the end so that the series can never be reborn, and I'll show their entire lives so that no prequels can be made either cuz you know the whole story, there's nowhere to go. -
they are building a new section to Disney's California Adventure in Anaheim called "CarsLand" that is scheduled to open, surprise-surprise, 2011. That is it. To sell tickets to Disneyland.
-
Who wants to watch Ashton Kutcher and Lindsey Lohan fighting to save Miley Cyruss from the clutches of a digital beastie?
Better to leave Tron alone. You can't top the original. -
To be subtitled 'Pointless Sequel' and 'Flogging A Dead Horse' respectively.
-
But I guess you figured...
-
God, they should make sequels to all the other Pixar films before Cars, which was a bore-fest.
-
Keep the udates coming
-
Disneys blows balls.
-
Pretty sure Flynn will be back for the sequel.
Bridges has said he'd like to do it in a few interviews.
End of line. -
balls aren't blown, they are licked and/or sucked... and sometimes cupped or fondled. unless they are on fire
-
Blow my balls.

let me know when they finally drop, and i'm there... does an industrial leafblower work for you?
-
It was cute and all and looked unbelievable but seriously, do we need another one? I wonder if it will be released at the same time as the new Cars ride at California Adventure. Hmmmmm.
-
Seriously, I wanted to go back and look at that again this morning and I can't find it anywhere.
-
I think No, No, and No.
TRON was what it was and the time for that has passed. You alway see the "Too Soon!" post but with TRON it's really just too late. Maybe someday somebody might re-imagine it in a way that works but it's too soon for that and too late to follow it up. It just needs to soak for a while in it's own juices. Pirates is a no go because they completely fucked it up in every way imaginable. The first one was good fun and a much better film than anyone had any right to expect considering the source material. The second and third were no fun and far worse films than should have ever followed Curse of the Black Pearl. A fourth film wouldn't really do any harm because the "franchise" is already sewn into a canvas sail and on it's way to the bottom. It would accomplish nothing however so why bother? National Treasure was a good idea once and stupid on the follow up. A third installment would just get people hurt. Nobody wants to see that happen. -
Whose idea was it that Pirates needed to become Lord of the Rings? The first one was fun if overlong. The sequels were ponderously overly complicated junk that seemed to want to be some sort of "epic trilogy" like LOTR. If they make a 4th one they should bring back Bill Nighy since you can't really tell Davy Jones is him. Let him play the Billy May character from Love Actually opposite Depp. That might be fun.
-
Please Disney....don't remake it/reimagine it/reboot it....please don't/ Pirates 4? Why? National Treasure 3? Disgusting. Cars 2...wtf?
-
I know you can all hate on the movies for the rest of your nit-picking lives (and you will!) but the series is GOLD for little boys. Remember how cool Star Wars was for you? That's what Pirates is for the kids growing up today. All it needs is Will in it to get kids excited. Jack is cool but Will is the "hero" in the kids' eyes. I came home from work the other day and the house looked suspiciously clean. I look in my boy's room and it was a "treasure trove". They were sitting in there in mock-up pirate costumes and had "stolen" stuff from all over the house. Kids love Pirates. Even still. It's "Over" in the eyes of us adults but thanks to DVD these kids can't get enough. Just realize that you are "old" and these types of movies appeal more to kids and you won't get so bent out of shape.
-
again, that's the NASCAR crowd. What kind of people shop at Wal-Mart? People who watch NASCAR and say "git 'r done" with out an ounce of irony. I'm sure Cars toys are very popular at Wal-Mart and virtually nowhere else.
-
its time for lordtwinkie to bust out the Jay Maynard costume.
-
or just a 3D presentation of the old movie? Clarification, please...
-
3d movies cost more :(
-
are still selling big, not just at wal-mart
-
a sequel. Sure, populate the story with new characters and a new hero, but make direct references (ie. bringing back Jeff Bridges for a cameo) to the first one. And continue the storyline of the MCP. Like it's rebuilt its AI systems since the first crash and it's more badass than ever before.
If they reboot with a new storyline and "Pixar" it up with cutting edge animation instead of the minimalist geometric designs of the original, they're making a big mistake.
End of line. -
Preferably several, if there's a story worth telling. And please no more lame National Treasures. Jeez how people spend their money watching crap.
-
No, no, no, no, yes...I mean no...
-
At least for the Special Edition DVD/Blu Ray.
You never go tailpipe to radiator!
SexNuts&RetardStrong -
The glasses suck and the studios are only doing it to make more money. They want it to become the standard, people. Think about how awful that would be. And I loved Cars, but a sequel is just unnecessary. And Pirates 4 should be a prequel.
-
That one's for you, Stan.
-
...I say again, Cars was RUBBISH! Why does it deserve a sequel? Perhaps cause it's the easy thing to do? An 'Incredibles' sequel - slightly harder.
-
could be very cool, but easily headache inducing. The rest are milking that money tit dry.
-
Maybe have Will and Elizabeth as cameos. Davy Jones is dead, so create a new villain.
-
I'm totally with you there, sir. My son, who is 14, looks upon all three of those pirate films the way I did Star Wars when I was his age. Heck, I like the Pirate films, all three of them, almost as much, too. They're good, fun, escapist films with much the same feel as Star Wars in its heyday.
-
I would welcome Pirates 4 if only they could use it as an excercise in correcting the overblown nature of the sequels.
-
Cars 2.
-
Fuck Pirates those movie suck so hard it's not even funny. The children deserve something better to grow up with.
-
You're forgetting something, kids have shitty taste in movies. The second and third installments of PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN are incoherent, too long, and a complete mess structurally. But there are plenty of "kids" movies that are also incredible films: STAR WARS, THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK, RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK, THE INCREDIBLES, TOY STORY, E.T. THE EXTRA TERRESTRIAL, BACK TO THE FUTURE, GHOSTBUSTERS, JURASSIC PARK, KING KONG (1933 of course), most every Disney feature-length animated film. Great films and kids films aren't necessarily mutually exclusive.
-
It wasn't long and all and Jack Sparrow was fantastic. The end battle was terrific with Barbossa.
-
At has heads blowing up at the end.
-
Just clean up the original and 3D it. I'd see that.
-
buncha stupid fucks. i doubt our charred corpses will give two dusty farts.
-
It's all about the casting.
-
nice Chief Wiggum reference. Any other nerd here get it?
-
even as a 9 year old kid I could tell when a movie sucked. The movies I loved as a kid including RAIDERS (which is a movie for everyone especially Kids) still hold up today and the ones that I knew were bad are still just as terrible. Even though there were a lot less horrible family movies then than there are today which sucks for kids. But it's up to the parents, as a toddler my mom showed me movies like PINOCCHIO and PETER PAN so I figured that they were current films. So even though they were completely before my time they are part of my childhood. If you are a parent, have some cinematic discretion for your kids and get them started on good movies early because they will remember them forever and in turn, they will benefit from them culturally.
-
The look he has for Iron Man is kick ass cool.
-
yeah that was from HOMER 3-D. haha nice one Sam. Pretty big coincidence if this new TRON really is in 3D.
-
Oh so we get a cars 2 and a Tron 3d but what i really wannna see is a "Last Starfighter" Sequel
-
Come on Sean Astin!
-
You sir are a dickwad. Maybe you don't shop at Wal-mart (god knows I try to stay the hell out of there), but to say that the only people who buys Cars merchandise are Nascar hillbillies is fucking insulting. My 4 year old kid is a bonafind Hot Wheels freak who loves anything and everything to do with any type of car that goes fast. Cars the movie (while not being truely amazing IMO) is perfect for his age and he loves it. What am I supposed to tell him, that the Incredibles is "cooler" cause it's superheroes? You don't have to be a Nascar lover to appreciate a cool hot rod, especially if you're four. I would wager a large percentage of posters on these boards had some of that orange track (with jumps!)set up in their house when they were growing up. If they want to make sequel to Cars, shit, let em. I'd rather that than have another bastard spawn sequel to Peter Pan or Bambi.
-
Sequel to successfull WALL*E
(First post, new to AICN) -
I really hope this isn't the original just redone in 3D. I love TRON but it won't pull in the audience at all if they do that, because the only thing that would pull people in is the nostalgia. Everyone else has already seen this film, and seeing it in 3D won't be much of a gimmick for it to stand on.
They did really well updating the series in TRON 2.0 for the PC... which was originally slated to be the film sequel, until Disney passed and Buena Vista agreed to publish it as a game. THAT'S more of what I'd like to see; a real update, with new ideas and more awesome shit going on to reflect on updated technology. -
When I say "everyone else" I guess I mean "everyone here"... :)
-
They should adapt that.
-
that is all
-
Tron would be great... pirates would be boring.
-
-the most comprehensively detailed story of Tron(draws from Tron written as a continuation of Tron 2.0). If anyone deserved screenplay of thier novel.. this would be fantastic.
Saw the mentioned movies, didn't care for pirates 3, but well made...
Tron, I was baffled when I walked out of the theatre when I was 5.
If I'm not once again baffled, what would be the point? -
You know with Steve Jobs hand in at Disney that it will be centered around Apple Computers and take frequently take shots at Microshit and PCs.
-
It's strange to consider, but I think that NT3 could end up being the best of this lot.
PIRATES ended as well as it could have. It took a few storylines that I expected to peter out into coldness and made the endings all feel genuine.
TRON 2 I'll believe when I see. It was pretty cool when it came out because it was unlike anything we had ever seen (and even now it more or less remains visually unique). This could be good, could be a debacle.
I never saw CARS, so no comment on that.
But seriously, NATIONAL TREASURE 2, for as poor and disappointing as it was, came up with a great premise that they COULD follow if they wanted to. And that premise is that they would be the US President's private relic hunters, kind of like an inverted INDIANA JONES situation. I think that could breathe new life into that series and take this in interesting new directions. -
Not sure I'd like to see a sequel to Cars. For some reason, I can't get attached to a bunch of vehicles like I did with Toy Story and a Bug's Life.
I'm also surprised Disney thinks Tron is still relevant enough to warrant a 3D release. Then again, there aren't any details thus far, correct? Tron will be cool in 3D though.
Pirates 3 was flat out boring, and felt like a boring side tale from the second movie.
If Pirates has to become more fantastical, it should elaborate on the creatures like the Davey Jones henchmen, and more Kracken-esque monsters. I'd be down for a Pirates 4, where they go to Atlantis. That'd be cool. Right....? -
AKA, the Bush administration. (oh, no I din't!) Seriously, wasn't that what they were setting up at the end of the last film with Jack looking at a map of Florida? (and a quest for The Fountain of Youth with Ponce de Leon?) That might be cool. And then Jack will be back where started: as a theme park ride in Florida!
-
And nothing happened.
-
Seriously?
-
EXCEPT Tron. Bet you the original Tron will have a "special edition" with some new effects released in IMAX and then we'll have a straight-to-video Tron 2. Tron just doesn't have the merchandising potential/recent history that Cars and Pirates does, and as other have posted that's what Disney is looking for (gotta have fresh "product" in theatres to sell the tie-ins, don't ya know). This is the same reason I guarantee that we will see Spider-Man 4 even if NONE of the original cast or crew is involved. It's Sony's new "Bond" franchise, only with the opportunity to sell lots more toys (kind of hard to sell "James Bond Blasters!" to kids when Sony has reset Bond back to a cruel killer spy).
-
Especially when Indy makes a pant-load of money this summer. The cynical part of me would say that NT2 was greenlit partially BECAUSE Indy 4 was in the pipeline and Disney needed to have their own "version" in case they had to revise the various Indy Park attractions if Lucas ever pulled the plug... But a studio would never be that calculating or shrewd, would they?
-
that at some point in Tron 2.0(no chance in hell they'll leave out the point 0) a character will run into a firewall which will literally be a wall made out of fire. I say at least 75% chance on that one.
-
its quite obvious.
-
From Wiki:
It is not yet known whether either Bruce Boxleitner or Jeff Bridges will return to reprise their roles as Alan (Tron) and Flynn, respectively. However, Jeff Bridges has been quoted as saying, "Why not do it? The reasons to do it and the reason I did [the original Tron] was because it was so innovative and I understand that they’ve got a whole new batch of stuff like that, innovations that they want to use on this so that could be kind of fun."[13] -
Flynn: "Well, that's just like, your opinion, man."
-
*hits with shock baton*
Flynn: "Hey, careful, man, there's a beverage here!"
-
What's with this site's slackness on big news?!

You obviously only looked at the splash page of this site. Check news from previous days or run a search. The article has Shaye's name in the title.

my bad ...I figured it would be under top stories...should have checked first...
-
Great.
The 1st just seemed like Nas-hole indocrination to me.
Between this news & the news of an upcoming Toby Keith movie, it's a great week to be a red-stater, I guess. -
MCP: " You shouldn't have come back Flynn"
Flynn: "Well, that's just, you know, your opinion, man!"
I got nothing... -
More Johnny Depp as Jack Sparrow please. And much as we love them, we seriously don't need the fey English elf dude or the world's sexiest tomboy beanpole (for the suits reading this, that would be Orlando Bloom and Kiera Knightley), or Geoffrey Rush for that matter.
What Jack needs is an entirely new set of potential allies and adversaries. As long as he has the Black Pearl, his first mate, and those two Laurel & Hardy-type English Navy dudes who switched sides at the end of At World's End, all in a fresh story written by Rossio & Elliott with supernatural elements, it will be a Pirates of the Caribbean movie.
Oh, and rum. Lots and lots of rum. -
A new Tron will suck because, like an earlier poster said, nobody wants to watch Ashton Kutcher running around in a cyberworld. Tron has gotten better with time BECAUSE Jeff Bridges kept making more and more awesome movies, and you liked watching him. If Ken Marshall had done anything else in his life, people might still be watching Krull.

Tron Was SOOOO Far Ahead Of It's Time
by fathermcgruderkicksassforthelord
A movie about a Massively Multiplayer Online Frisbee Playing Game?
That is some presience there, people. -
RAIDERS is an adventure movie. Adventure movies are always kids movies. RAIDERS just happens to be an excellent film also. And what's wrong with exploding heads? Kids like being scared shitless.
-
Didn't like the Pirates movies? Didn't like Cars or National Treasure? Can't figure out what was so great about Tron? Then don't go see the sequels. Because truth be told, Disney (and ALL of the OTHER studios) don't make their movies for you. They make them for everyone else who don't come to these sites. Whose only voice rings out in the cha-chinging sound of the box-office cash registers and as stated above... Walmarts around the nation. In the end, it's a business. About making money. Granted, Pixar is believed to be more about making GOOD movies than making movies that make money, but in the end it usually goes hand in hand. Now, personally, I hope they make a Cars 2 with a gay Indy Car that takes on Lightning McQueen and teaches him a thing or two about tolerance and being different. THAT would be funny. (I still would go see it in the theater. But hey.) As for POTC 4. I would definitely lay down money to see a Barbossa story. I felt Geoffrey Rush's character was great and definitely worth watching. I wouldn't pay money for National Treasure 3 though. But I'd have to see what they come up with for Tron 2.0 before I fall either way.
-
As long as they do it right this is great new! I'm playing through the game again at the moment, and the prospect of more Tron makes me happy!
-
didn't quint like that movie too? oh snap!
-
didn't quint like that movie too? oh snap!
-
please do not make more Pirates or National Treasure films... we don't need more Michael Bay-type crap... I'm sure they already have Trevor Rabin lined up for the soundtrack to NT...
is Tron a sequel or a remake? because the in-computer sequences of the original cannot be improved upon... the weak parts were the real world sequences - especially the abrupt, simplified ending... -
There's hope for Hollywood yet.
-
The one with the flying disks. That and the idea of early computer graphics in a movie is all I remember. I think to be cutting edge on that movie now...all of the cgi should be shot practical. It would take vision and courage...
Styrofoam and spirit gum only. -
Virtually the same story, but TRON is way frikkin cooler. TRON would be a great theme for a club -- like all neon blues and reds. Old skool computer shit. The woiks!
-
So Disney won't be a-franchinsing Mike Baron and Steve Rude's comic book series "Nexus"? Then why did I read this? Darn misleading headlice.
-
fantasy. Fantasy seems more fantastical when it is subtle. It should be more Sid Meier and less LOTR.
-
Greedy Disney pigs
-
and please bring back Marty the midget.
-
and have Jack and the others as cameos. Oh wait, that was Pirates 3. Sorry.
-
How about Disney puts that energy into original ideas instead of rehashes that are creatively bankrupt and run into the ground. I know, I know, the almighty buck - but they always make that one extra sequel where the audience stops showing up which loses them millions anyway.
-
I thought Steve Jobs' idea was to have fewer craptastic direct-to-video sequels... well, they got rid of the 'direct-to-video' part, now how about the 'craptastic' part?
-
Marty Flynn gets sucked into his ipod and his music chases him.
-
Or how about "Fast Pass:The Movie"? To save money, they could shoot the original and the reboot concurrently. Follow it up with "Fast Pass 2:The New Ride". Maybe after that a movie about the concession stands. The product placements alone would probably cover the costs of shooting the film.
-
I'm glad Ratatouille wasn't a blockbuster, a merchandising bonanza or a favourite of little kids with underdeveloped critical faculties. . It means we won't have to endure a needless, contrived sequel to it. Thank Christ.
-
Ooh. A Rat cooks. Wow. Genius.

If they go "self contained" or conservative, then it'll just be more of the same. Like someone said, the sequels were already overly long and drawn out to begin with.
A sequel would need to be shorter and feature those floating fortresses and monsters and stuff. That would make things interesting. And dont tell me it'd be "ruining" anything. -
I'm one first to show any hesitation regarding a new pirates movie, after all, I do agree with some people that pirates 2 and 3, although entertaining and enjoyable, somewhat paled in comparison to the first movie, but this is probably because Disney threw money at the project to make it more attractive for a comfortable profit(Matrix 2 & 3?). I believe there's still a lot of adventures out there for Cpt Jack and crew to justify a fourth movie, although it would have to be an individual adventure similar to the first and not the beginning of capitalist series.
As for Treasure 3, I thouroughly enjoyed both movies but cringe at the fact he's a historian with an incredible talent for beaking into the most hi-tech security facilities. What's he going to break into next? Fort Knox? -
Due to Iger and Lasseter making peace with Spielberg and a few others...
Disney has started picking up the pieces of the Roger Rabbit franchise and is currently developing a new RR film.
Plus...RR and friends will likely be returning to a more visible position within Disney Parks in the next few years.

i hope this is true, it very well should be. more jessica rabbit please.
-
I'd love for that to happen.
-
How about opening up your fucking animation studio and giving us some quality 2D animation?! Pixar's cool and all, but damn! Give me some real cartoons. You know, the stuff that put you on the map to begin with! Walt would not be happy.
-
I loved the original and can't wait to see the next one.
-
I'm all for 3D..... maybe if the revenue is large enough then they will concider a sequel..... Just like most sequels,, probably will suck!!!!
-
Maybe not.....
-
maybe they will have the Tron Babies cartoon show on Saturday morning TV?
I'll buy that for a .....oh forget it..... -
2011 is so far away. oh and the world is suppose to end in 2012.

It can only work if Jack Sparrow comes out of the closet.

Fuck Cars and any moron who would patronize it or its merchandising.
-
that it would be "Tron 3"? Tron 2.0 is officially part of the story last I heard. I think it would be awesome to have the first one be a movie, the second one a game and the third back to a movies (3D being the natural progression).
-
I fucking hated the third movie. What is it with third installments being so horrible these days? Is this new?
-
Starring Matt Damon as Captian Butch Blowmedown and Ben Affleck as First Mate Harry Bottomsup! Coming in 2011!
They should do a Pirates movie about real pirates and not any more of the over the top POTC bullshit. -
...they were SEQUALS shot back to back. Although this saves the studio £££, the films suffer creatively. Need proof? Back to the Future 2 & 3, Matrix 2 & 3...and yeah, I know the LOTR trilogy was shot back to back - but the story was planned out before hand and all three films were shot at the same time, meaning they were all consistent in style and tone. The others were all sequals to films that were NOT (despite what we are led to believe) originally planned as trilogies. Overbloated, miscalculated cash ins. And for the record, my little boy loves Cars. I can see the appeal, and it does have it's moments, but agree it isn't a patch on Toy Story 1 & 2. However, it's not a BAD film so whats the problem? In my opinon, it's better than Finding Nemo and the Incredibles which to me are both seriously over rated.
-
sorry...just testing
-
Megaforce 2? Anyone?
-
seen TRON when it first came out. still a great movie, way ahead of its time. beats the hell out of all this CGI crap out there now!
-
3 less so, but who cares.
-
No Pirates 4! 3 ended PERFECTLY...ugh...
Cars 2? Why do a sequal to Pixars weakest film????? Well Carsland IS opening at California Adventure...so that makes sense, I guess.
Tron 2 however....hell yeah! If the story is good, outdated effects don't matter to me, it doesn't have to be state of the art if its good! :D -
... if they make it more like the first one. The second was downright ridicilous (although I did enjoy it). And the third was utter bullshit.
Pirates 4! Go easy on the friggin' fantasy! -
