ASTRO BOY will speak with a familiar voice...

Published at:  Feb 29, 2008 1:55:12 AM CST

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. This news hit late last night when I was finally getting back home after nearly 13,000 miles of travel over 2 weeks. I'm a little on the tired side, but I know there are a lot of ASTRO BOY fans out there, so I figured I'd post the news.

ASTRO BOY is being done as an animated film... you know that, I'm sure. Now you know who's going to voice the lad! Hollywood's goto kid actor these days (sorry Haley Joel Osment) has it locked up, Mr. Freddie Highmore. He's done this before, voicing the lead in Luc Besson's ARTHUR AND THE INVISIBLES as well as Lyra's daemon in GOLDEN COMPASS.

Thoughts?

    Thank ye, thank ye

    by zandunga

Petty? Possible. Juvenile? Definitely. But FIRST, like "gotta eat" is a time-honored AICN tradition, the yardstick by which superior, timely movie-geeks assert their áss-raping superiority over lesser, peasant movie-geeks (read: you). Listen matey - you're at an aintitcool.com board, which automatically makes you a slobbering, immature dork just like all the other primates here. Don't come to Geek Central and act all holier-than-thou. That won't do. Look at Odo19, up there in the 4th spot, he knows it's a game and plays along (and Odo? Coulda taken 4th, but I had shot my wad and was done).

So accept it, take it, loosen up & swallow. Tsk, tsk, no fidgeting, Zacdilone. Ah, there's a good lad, all the way in it goes.

Umm you do know how old Osment is?

    by falcon5768

I would hardly call him a "lad" anymore. Kids like 20 now I think, certainly much older than Highmore at 16.

    no subject

I'm glad this thing looks like it's being treated better than it initially was, because I do think it deserves it. I really hope it turns out great. I am not fully convinced yet that it will though, but this is another piece of encouraging news. I don't know too much about it, just that I used to watch the cartoon when I was a kid and feeling sad. Sad memories.

In the battle for biggest preteen male superstar

    by series7

Who will win? Who mill meander around while they go through puberty to emerge as the star the biggest Trilogy this side of Star Wars. Or who will succumb, to advances from creepy older men such as Ted Denson and Michael Jackson to loose their wealth and become batshit crazy?
Josh Hutcherson vs. Freddie Highmore. Now all we need is a children’s epic tale that has two brothers going at it to bring these two together. Who'd a think that The Good Son was a prediction of the future?
