A Cool Geek Adventure To Find HOBBITON. Re: THE LORD OF THE RINGS
Well folks, here's a real nice little 'geek excursion' report over at TheOneRing.Net! I love these sorts of reports which usually amount to the fact that there are no facts, that no information could be found, but... Hey... We had a devil of a fun time trying to find something out. I guarantee that over the coarse of making these films we'll hear many a similar report. There's picture of the EXACT area as well as the report itself at TheOneRing.Net so go follow that above link and see what you think. Is this site the beginning of a new 'TheForce.Net' but for THE LORD OF THE RINGS? Who knows... Time will tell...

I remember that once upon a time, Harry was going to confirm the casting rumors with the LOTR people (Jackson, I assume). Well, it obviously didn't happen! What's the problem, Harrry? Not as well connected as you thought? I wanted to know!

I've been observing these proceedings from afar for a while. Until I saw the "road trip" report, I was content to sit on the sidelines. Reading about a trip into the countryside to get even the most distant glimpse of the Hobbiton site reminds me of why I love LOTR above all other books: it brings people together, and it inspires. I am a little miffed that the one film that I would make a road trip to check out is being shot in NZ. However, I'll gladly make that sacrifice if it means that Hollywood can't ruin the film--or at least will minimize the damage. Hey Peter, West Texas has some great grasslands that would be perfect for Rohan. I'll be your unofficial location scout. Shhh, don't tell Tinsel Town you're coming.

They need fifteen hundred extras and miscellaneous small parts - WHO GETS TO BE AMONG THE CHOSEN FEW?
Sorry, I am just another LOTR freak I suppose. I hoped they'd make use of the rugged Scottish scenery near me for maybe the land of Moria or maybe somewhere else, just so I could be near it. The cartoon was such a let down, this has to be great. Hmmmm, if anyone hears of a web page for casting these parts please post it! Ta -
Me thinksssss that the Mammoth Caves would make a great place for Gollums boat. Yessss. Hmmmm?

I have a feeling we're going to be seeing a repeat of what happened to Bakshi's LOTR. The very fact that almost no-one has responded to this piece of AICN hints that there's already a lack of interest.
