DEXTER Showrunner Quits To Oversee DIRTY SEXY MONEY!!
I am – Hercules!!
“Dexter” showrunner Daniel Cerone has left the Showtime serial-killer saga to serve as showrunner on ABC’s “Dirty Sexy Money,” replacing Josh Reims.
Cerone, who oversaw “Dexter” following his creation of CBS’ short-lived Mel Gibson-produced “Clubhouse” and a long stint as writer-producer on The WB’s “Charmed,” will take over “Sexy” with the show’s second season.
“Dexter,” which completed its second season last year, has been renewed for a third.

And I wish James Manos Jr. would write.

Why leave a great show that just pulled off an amazing second season for a soapy show that my parents find "scandalous"? Poor decision, sir, poor decision.
-
As for DSM, it's like watching a day in the life of the Hilton family, and just about as entertaining, which is to say, not so much.
-
CBS probably has a lot more cash to throw at him than Showtime does. I would be willing to bet that DSM will be cancelled before Dexter will.
-
And dirty.
-
How unfortunate for him and his family. After "Money" is cancelled, it looks like they will be having a Flanders "Imaginary Christmas" this year. "I got a hula hoop!"
-
thats down from almost $200.00 two weeks ago.

I say to you, "Bad form, Sir."

And a mini-Six Feet Under reunion.

Dexter needs someone to elevate it to Greatness
by guy who got a headache and accidentally
Instead of merely "Goodness" where it currently resides. Dexter needs to be more like "The Shield starring a Serial Killer" instead of "Desperate Housewives starring a Serial Killer." Dexter's a good show, I just think it could be even greater, very easily too. The problem is not even with the writing or the characters, its more to do with scope and focus I think, if that makes any sense.
-
why leave it for a peice of shit that no one really watches
-
please be gentle
-
There has to be more than this, no one in their right mind would leave a show like Dexter for mainstream rubbish like Dirty, Sex Money.
-
Both are Viacom owned.
-
Although I would love a show that was "The Shield starring a Serial Killer" I don't think Dexter is that show, or could be. It's supposed to have a surreal almost soapish edge to it, not to be taken that seriously. I like the current tone of the show, though I also agree with you that it could be greater.
-
For a pile of shit like Dirty Sexy Money...? Ridiculous, what an idiot.
-
They took away all of the things that made his character unique interesting (disconnected, asexual, sociopath) and turned it into a soap opera. And Doakes who was the only cop who kept Dex on his toes is gone, so now they can really focus on more relationship triangles with Dex and his sister's relationship woes.
-
Season 2 was a pale, flabby shadow of the first, which was taut and clever as f***. Shame.
-
I've only seen the two episodes of Dexter that have aired on CBS since I only have basic cable. I don't know how it stacks up against the HBO/SHowtime competition, but Dexter is the best thing currently on broadcase network television - even in a slightly edited version.Except for when the black cop said "Motherlover". That was hilariously sad.DSM has an excellent cast and some intriguing plots. It's not earth-shattering or revolutionary - it's not on a par with Desperate Housewives or Grey's Anatomy let alone Lost or Heroes. But it is well above the Cashmere Lipstick Big Shots level of most evening soaps. Obviously if you don't like soap operas then it's not your genre. But if the above comment is correct and "Dexter" has moved in a more soapish direction in its second season, then the man who took it there willl be a perfect fit for Dirty Sexy Money. And maybe whoever takes over Dexter will restore the darkness. Really sounds like a win-win, with both shows improving, if you ask me.
-
People seem to be bitching up a storm about it when its a good show. The ensemble cast is really good and Peter Krause anchors the show well. Its a well written and well acted soap. Better than Grey's and better than any other vagina show ABC is airing. Too bad its not getting enough props. I'm sure there is more to the story here. The guy probably jumped ship for a reason. And by the way I'm sure it wasn't for money since Showtime/CBS/Viacom have boat loads of it.
-
I saw that yesterday, 50 bucks for the hd dvd drive plus it comes with king kong on hd dvd and 5 free ones in the mail, I jumped on it, You would be stupid not to buy it at this point. Not to mention Amazon is selling the hddvds cheaper than normal dvds now.
-
DSM is good.
It also airs on ABC, not CBS. -
Guess they all can't be in it for the love of making good stories, some of them must be in it for the money. Dexter is cable based, only a few million viewers, I can imagine networks are tossing out bigger bucks.
-
'preciate that spoiler warning. Thanks buddy.
-
That's worth buying just to have. It's not like HD-DVDs will just disappear. In fifteen years, owning one of these will give you lots of audiophile cred.
Yesterday, yes, just yesterday, I bought a laserdisk player for $35. Why? 'Cause it's a laserdisk player! -
Its just that outside of Lost, all of ABC's promo's look the same, as in "I could give a rats ass about any of these shows": Dirty Sexy Money, Big Shots, Cashmere Mafia, Eli Stone, etc etc etc.
-
I've got a shitload of LD's to sell ya if you want..
-
Not perfect, but still very watchable.
-
maybe i would've cared back in season 1, when the show was excellent ( so good it actually made me seek out and read all three books). But after having read the books, season 2 just seemed...disappointing. Not bad, i still enjoyed watching it, but it really felt like it could've been so much more. Especially with some ''liberties'' they,ve taken with certain characters. And seriously..what kind of villain was Lilah?! Season 1 was a great adaptation, but season 2 makes me fear for season 3, hopefully they'll get back on track and make it an adaptation of the second book
-
then that makes him a murderer. And you know what Dexter does with murderers.
-
I thought this was an article about Dexy's Midnight Runners for a second there. Boy howdy, I sure would have been embarrassed if any of you had found out!
-
He leaves Dexter for DSM. Dexter is doing so well.. I hope the new guy doesn't screw shit up.
-
Samaire needs more to do on Dirty Sexy Money.
-
Sorry bout that; Mark Perry left as its day-to-day showrunner. More here: http://tinyurl.com/3xkcs8
-
I don't know if this will be a good thing or not, as I don't know how much of an influence Cerone had on the show. All I know is I love Dexter and I hope it doesn't make season 3 suck.
That said, while I did enjoy season 2, it was definitely missing a certain something that made season 1 the best. I think like Optimus Primal said, there was too much relationship stuff, and while I appreciated a look at Jaime Murray's tits, I didn't really enjoy her character. And killing Doakes was a bad idea, although props to them for making such a great character that killing him off was able to elicit such a gut blow. -
I hope this doesn't throw off the continuity or chemistry of the show, like LOST season 2... Dexter is awesome.
-
I hate that show. Why he'd leave Dexter for that bullshit is hard to fathom.
-
Before anyone asks. Being a fan of Six Feet Under I tuned in to see, stuck around for the first 4 or so episodes and flushed it from my TV like the crap it was.
-
but it's hardly a show that will be remembered after it's run is through. Dexter, on the other hand, I feel could be, it proved in it's second season that's it's more than "that serial killer show".
-
When the fuck is it coming back? It was such a good, well acted and well written show. FOX should air a edited version of the show. Glen Close was an evil bitch and Rose Byrne held her own. Its the one show I'll recommend on DVD. I'm waiting on season 2... Fuck "Dirt", why is FX even trying with that show again?
-
Dirty Sexy Money is very good. The worst part is that Krause is playing the least interesting character. I went in with low expectations, but every week they not only had a good story, but they continually would change the roles and the relationships between characters in interesting ways. Dianne fucking Ruggiero from Veronica Mars is writing for it, so it must be good, right? Does this mean though that the guy from Six Feet Under that was running the show (it was Craig Wright, I believe) has left?
-
Actually read the article now.
-
one of the best shows ever.
-
I got pretty good. It's not the best show on tv or anything, but if you just want some mindless entertainment, it fits the bill nicely. Besides, it has to really piss off the Kennedys, and that's always a good thing.
-
Will probably be see an early demise. Too bad. Hey, this guy's going to go work for the other Fisher brother's show now.
-
the season 2 was excellent even though the finale kind of sucked. The lila story could have ended so much better. Now who's going to provide the gratuitous nudity?
-
is by far the best part of that show. Dexter is an awesome character and he is brilliant in the role.
-
ABC must be paying him a shitload more...
-
Not the best show ever, not the best show on right now, but good entertainment.
-
Dexter is a great character, full of the dark and blood thirsty persona of a blockbuster antagonist, combined with the sympathetic, revenge filled fury of the protagonist. Quite clever considering most crime dramas such as Law & Order, the CSI shows and Without A trace, etc. all deal with the capture of such characters.
-
I've never seen the show though, so I don't know whether it's good. The title turns me off though. I hope Dexter doesn't suffer because of the departure.
-
for the first time yesterday. Its just come out in the uk and its a quality program.
just thought i'd mention that. -
Just sayin. It rocks me bum.
-
Is it hardened chocolate with a sweet pussy-juice filling? Like in those Cordial Cherry candies?
-
Some of them became persona non grata and have the "leave gracefully or be fired and never work in Hollywood again" axe over their heads. Those not being frozen out won't have the lucrative deals they were getting before offered to them ever again. Leaving Dexter will actually be better for him.
-
Lost was one of my favorite shows, and then it turned to shit its third season. BSG was also one of my favorite shows, and it too turned to shit in its third season. Heroes took up some of the slack in my excitement department, and then that turned to shit. Now my favorite of all my geek shows is prepping to turn to shit in its third season. I still watch all those other shows and can enjoy them on some level, but Dexter was the only one left that had my jumping up and down excited to watch. If they screw this one up, I'll be out of new shows to recommend to people.
I get some of the season 2 criticisms I'm seeing here, even though I loved watching every minute of it. They tried to make him more human and I wasn't liking that. But I think they pulled him back in by the end, with Dexter even rejecting Harry to some degree and giving up on the notion of opening up to people. It could really spin off in a nice direction, come season 3, if they do it right. They need to keep him in the grey area and not the hero they made him out to be in S2. He should always be too broken to be human again. The obvious direction would be for him to branch out beyond Harry's code, ultimately leading up to his capture halfway through the final season. -
Dexter is great, and Michael C. Hall is incredible. Unlike some others, I felt the second season was fine. They're trying to expand the show beyond just being about a serial killer, to truly exploring Dexter's mind. That's a good thing. Maybe less blood, but more insights. And please, a lot of people haven't seen the first two seasons. Please don't spoil the plot surprises for them! As for Dirty Sexy Money? I love Peter Krause, but DSM is maybe, kinda, sorta boring?
-
Isn't that sort of admitting defeat when they just import another Sunday night show rather than come up with on on their own?
They're also putting MMA on Saturday nights.
