CHUCK, LIFE & HEROES Renewed For 2008-2009!!
I am – Hercules!!
No love for “Journeyman,” “Bionic Woman” or “Friday Night Lights.” None are yet officially cancelled (NBC doesn’t announce its complete fall schedule until May), but the buzz is they’re all longshots for renewal. We already know “Celebrity Apprentice” and “American Gladiators” are back next season.
Look! Press release!
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
NBC RENEWS DRAMA SERIES 'CHUCK, 'LIFE' AND 'HEROES' FOR 2008-09 SEASON
BURBANK - February 13, 2008 - NBC has picked up its freshman drama series "Chuck" and "Life" -- as well as its hit "Heroes" -- for the 2008-09 season, it was announced today by Ben Silverman, Co-Chairman, NBC Entertainment and Universal Media Studios, and Marc Graboff, Co-Chairman, NBC Entertainment and Universal Media Studios.
All three series will have major re-launch campaigns next year.
"We are thrilled to be bringing back the high-energy dramas 'Chuck' and Life' for next season," said Silverman. "Additionally, we will be saving and re-launching our #1 drama and most successful franchise, 'Heroes,' so that it will run in all original episodes in the fourth quarter."
"These pickups are a sign of our confidence in these quality series and will allow the respective producers to get a head start on their creative arc for next season," said Graboff. "As a result, they give us a lot to build on as we point to next year's schedule."
"Heroes" is NBC's #1 series this season in adults 18-49, the #1 Monday series on any network in adults 18-49 and the #1 scripted series on any network in adults 18-34. This season, "Heroes" has averaged a 6.2 rating, 14 share in adults 18-49 and 13.1 million viewers overall.
"Chuck" has averaged a 3.5 rating, 9 share in adults 18-49 and 8.7 million viewers overall this season. The most recent telecast of "Chuck" on December 3 won the time period in adults 18-49, adults 18-34 and all key adult-male demographics. "Chuck" has increased its adult 18-49 rating from half-hour to half-hour with each of its 11 Monday telecasts this season.
"Life" has averaged a 3.0 rating, 8 share in adults 18-49 and 8.1 million viewers overall. Its most recent telecast on December 5 saw "Life" achieve the show's highest total-viewer result since October 3. That December 5 telecast finished within 1 share of the time-period lead in adults 18-49.
From creator/writer Tim Kring (NBC's "Crossing Jordan") comes the Emmy and Golden Globe nominated "Heroes," an epic drama that chronicles the lives of ordinary people who discover they possess extraordinary abilities. In its first season, "Heroes" was honored with a People's Choice Award, an AFI Award, a Multicultural Prism Award and this year's TV Land Future Classic Award and the TV Critics Association Awards' Outstanding Program of the Year, as well as nominations at the Golden Globe Awards, NAACP Image Awards, Writers Guild of America Awards and Satellite Awards.
After a total eclipse casts its shadow across the globe, seemingly calling forth a multitude of everyday men and women with special powers, Dr. Mohinder Suresh (Sendhil Ramamurthy, "Blind Guy Driving"), a genetics professor from India, continues to champion his father's theory that there are people with extraordinary abilities living among us. Claire Bennet, an indestructible high school cheerleader (Hayden Panettiere, "Bring it On: All or Nothing"), must hide her ability from her peers while working to maintain her relationship with her father (Jack Coleman, "Dynasty"), a man of mystery who has a keen interest in people like her. Niki Sanders, a Las Vegas single mother (Ali Larter, "Final Destination") with astonishing strength -- and a dangerous, amoral mirror image (Jessica Sanders) -- struggles to protect her young son Micah (Noah Gray-Cabey, "My Wife & Kids"), a genius who can interact with electronic machinery through touch.
Matt Parkman, a police detective (Greg Grunberg, "Alias"), attempts to put his ability to hear the thoughts of others to good use. In Japan, Hiro Nakamura's (Masi Oka, NBC's "Scrubs") ability to pierce the space-time continuum and manipulate time has empowered him to change the future, as he embarks on wild adventures with his best friend Ando Masahashi (James Kyson Lee, "Shutter"). Nathan Petrelli, a congressional hopeful (Adrian Pasdar, "Judging Amy") with the ability to fly, has his dreams dashed after failing to stop his younger brother Peter (Milo Ventimiglia, "Rocky Balboa"), a nurse with the ability to absorb the powers of others, from exploding over the New York City skyline. And after this clash in New York, the fate of Sylar, a manipulative serial killer (Zachary Quinto, "24") dedicated to violently collecting the extraordinary talents of special people, is unknown. Meanwhile, in the Dominican Republic, a young woman named Maya Herrera (Dania Ramirez, "The Sopranos") and her twin brother, plagued by her threatening ability, attempt to enter the United States in search of help. And Monica Dawson, another woman (Dana Davis, "The Nine") with newfound special abilities, would give up everything to help the people around her. Their ultimate destiny is nothing less than saving the world...
Joining Kring as executive producer are Dennis Hammer (NBC's "Crossing Jordan"), Allan Arkush (NBC's "Crossing Jordan") and Greg Beeman ("Smallville"). The drama is produced by Universal Media Studios in association with Tailwind Productions.
From Rand Ravich ("The Astronaut's Wife"), Far Shariat ("Confessions of a Dangerous Mind"), and David Semel -- who directed the pilot of NBC's "Heroes" -- "Life" is a first-year drama about a detective who is given a second chance. Damian Lewis ("Band of Brothers") stars as complex, offbeat Detective Charlie Crews, who returns to the force after years in prison, thanks to close friend and attorney Constance Griffiths (Brooke Langton, "The Net"), after serving time in prison for a crime he didn't commit.
The cast also includes Sarah Shahi ("Rush Hour 3") as Charlie's skeptical, demanding partner, Robin Weigart (HBO's "Deadwood") as their hard-hitting lieutenant, and Adam Arkin ("Chicago Hope") as former cellmate Ted Early.
"Life" is a Universal Media Studios production. Rand Ravich is executive producer and writer; Far Shariat and Dan Sackheim are executive producers on the series; David Semel is executive producer and director on the pilot.
From executive producer, Josh Schwartz ("The O.C.") and executive producer-director McG ("Charlie's Angels," "We Are Marshall") comes "Chuck," a one-hour, action-comedy series about Chuck Bartowski (Zachary Levi, "Less Than Perfect") -- a computer geek who is catapulted into a new career as the government's most vital secret agent. When Chuck opens an e-mail subliminally encoded with government secrets, he unwittingly downloads an entire server of sensitive data into his brain. Now, the fate of the world lies in the unlikely hands of a guy who works at a Buy More Electronics store. Instead of fighting computer viruses, he must now confront assassins and international terrorists.
With the government's most precious secrets in Chuck's head, Major John Casey of the National Security Agency (Adam Baldwin, "My Bodyguard") assumes the responsibility of protecting him. His partner is the CIA's top agent (and Chuck's first date in years), Sarah Walker (Yvonne Strahovski, "Gone"). They'll try to keep him safe by trading in his pocket protector for a bulletproof vest. Also starring are Joshua Gomez ("Without a Trace") as Morgan Grimes, Chuck's best buddy, and Sarah Lancaster ("What About Brian?") as Chuck's ever-supportive sister, Ellie. Josh Schwartz and Chris Fedak wrote, "Chuck," which is produced by College Hill Pictures, Wonderland Sound and Vision, in association with Warner Bros. Television.

I gonna give Heroes another shot. And alot of people seem to like Life. I've seen a couple of episodes and it was pretty good. Chuck just kinda turned average.
-
Who watches this stuff? Damn kids... check out some classics on the intertubes so you can become a man.
-
That be quick! :)
-
Preferably, I'd like to live WITH it, if Kring & Co. can tap back into the dramatic edge and momentum that the first season had. I'm definitely gonna give it another shot.
-
Is it wrong that I want to put it in Hayden Panettiere's butt?
-
Michael Ausiello with the scoopage: http://tinyurl.com/2u4nu2
-
Good to see Heroes getting extended.
-
I get that they rushed the hell out of the story in order to have some closure before the strike, but they should have just paced the story as planned and stopped with a "cliffhanger." The second season already wasn't as good as s1 and the mega-rushed final few episodes really killed it for me.
-
Whatever it was, I'm sorry. Very, very sorry. No hit, NBC!
-
c'mon now NBC, take a risk.
-
count me in. Season 2 was too slow and wasteful, not to mention it looked like they slashed the budget in half. The finale was the very definition of awful.
-
If it's canceled we need a Denny Crane spinoff show
-
since it's a FOX production? I don't really know how stuff like that works.Oy, I can't believe I want a show to end up on FOX...
-
any chance Friday Night Lights ends up on Showtime? That female cast without the restraints of network TV would definitely bring in some viewers.
-
It's true, it's true!
-
Was 30 Rock already renewed? I thought I remember hearing the but am not sure. Hopefully FNL will get some slack on the awkward year and get a renewal, but from what I'm reading, most networks are going the opposite way on that issue.
-
NBC sure didn't know what they had there.
-
This show is underrated, even by me and I like it. I find it's one of those shows that when it's not on, you're not remotely interested in it, but the moment you're watching it, you're sucked in pretty deep for that hour.
-
No Journeyman. Typical...
-
let alone those of other networks. Ahhh, "Arrested Development"... Fox had the greatest sitcom ever made and they flushed it down the toilet.
-
Call me crazy, but last time I checked, there is no way to get BY CAR from the Dominican Republic (an f'in ISLAND! for crissakes) to the US.
Maybe they should leave the press release writing to people that may have actually watched the show. That, or it was written without professional writers during the strike. -
is that there are enough mouth breathers in the country to get American Gladiators renewed.
-
Ugh! Between SciFi f'ing around with Battlestar Galactica, Lost taking 4 years between seasons (is this Sopranos?) and NBC "dropping the ball" with FNL and Journeyman, I think I'll start reading.
-
as long as you dont mind following me, its fine to want to stick it in Hayden Panettieres butt.
-
Sure a car/raft trip from the Dominican Republic might take a bit longer than a trip from Cuba, but it isn't entirely impossible.
Of course, if memory serves, Maya and Miguel, or whatever the hell his name was, started out in Venezuela or El Salvador. They spent the entire season driving north through Central America, and then Mexico, where they picked up Sylar and made it to NY in like 45 minutes... -
rocked by the way.
stupid NBC.
Really stupid.
thank god we get to tune in @ 8pm to see what color bandana Hulk Hogan will be wearing though.
-
Look at all the Journeyman love. I couldn't get into that one, and I really tried. And I guess I don't watch a lot of NBC, either. Because none of this means anything to me. lol Yes, yes. Bash away. It's true, I don't watch Heroes. I'm really hoping Pushing Daisies comes back, though.
-
I Love Life!
-
Give me extraordinary people teaming up to do extraordinary things.
-
If it takes a slot that should go to Friday Night Lights would be a shame.
-
Point well taken. However, I still contend that NBC PR should have known that.
As for Journeyman, I caught a few episodes here and there (just couldn't get into it), and NBC should have given it a fairer shake. It's not like they're flush with quality programming, and I'm sure they could have given up one hour of Howie or Dateline if they really wanted to. -
and That, my friends, is a Very Nice bit of news, indeed
-
I thought it was a deleted and they were going to include it in the DVD release.
-
not like i didnt already know this, but i was lying to myself... its all about Journeyman. please..some other network, cut the budget if you have to, it was good enough writing to make due with half the special effects, just please pick it up. addendum: Life? Life? might be a good show, but who the fuck watches it? does it really deserve more of a chance than journeyman? if so, perhaps i should start watching it.
-
im a hardcore journeyman fan (obviously) but im also excited about pushing daisies coming back.. it took a 3rd place for TV shows in my heart. (1-lost,2-journeyman, 3-pushing daisies) plus my girlyfriend liked it a bunch, so it was good we had a show to watch together.
-
chuck sucks ...that should be cancelled and bring back journeyman and bionic...life is awesome too...im really not sure how people watch chuck....its really quite bad, but maybe all the simpletons of the world can follow it cuz it is for simple minded dumb people....makes sense in this mtv real world, brainless show loserfest the world seems to be stuck in the last few years....any shows that are deep and u have to actually pay attention to get lost in the shuffle.....sad sad sad
-
Show is actually good! Anything?
-
I recall that the twins and Sylar crossed the border, then stopped at a hotel overnight. Then they were in NYC at Isaac's loft. I just figured they hotwired Wonder Woman's invisible jet or something.
-
1) bring back Claude
2) more Elle
3) put a limit on the healing blood (no raising the dead). should need a fucking transfusion to heal burn scars, not a small injection.
4) no more "future" threats. -
they should being back journeyman. (YEAH!!! IVE BEEN WAITING A MONTH TO RE-USE THAT LINE!)
-
And here I thought I was being mildly clever with my sarcasm.
Pops-- I'm guessing they hired Endo (not Ando) to kidnap Hiro, strapped some jumper cables on his nipples, and used his power to get to the City double quick.
just a thought...
-
I'm guessing the script needed rewrites. That and the fact that no Trek movie is going to win Oscars, so why bother releasing it at Christmas.
-
so who cares!
-
if Morgan got superpowers it would be a perfect world
-
Yes, Life is a great show. I enjoyed both it and Journeyman thoroughly and surprisingly, both for the same reason. They were both shows whose core concept was nothing I hadn't heard of before and enjoyed in the past, but their main characters were so well drawn and so well performed that it almost seemed like a wheel was being reinvented. It's a shame about Journeyman. I'm glad they got to at least air the 13 odd episodes they made though. Really satisfying ending.
-
A Smallville producer has joined in with Heroes?....this does not bode well.
-
there's a talkback on ABC's early re-ups for 2008-09 which is about to disappear from the main AICN.com page (but can be found if you click Coaxial).
-
is that these abbreviated seasons could easily be repromoted over the summer to help some of those bubble shows earn an audience. That is, if the networks ever thought that way.
-
Love Chuck. Very happy about the renewal.
I will watch Heroes but I just hope they work out a really good ARC for these characters. Season 2 will not be on my DVD list.
-
I thought both series were equally interesting and creative within their genre. Still, usually everything I like gets canceled so this is a bonus.
-
why not give journeyman another chance? come on journeyman fans...send in boxes of rice a roni to nbc....and heroes needs to be kept on a very short leash...and when i say that, i mean that if it falters the way it did in season 2, kring needs to get the boot and someone who understands what to do with the material needs to be brought in....i know kring has dyslexia when it comes to comic reading, but i suggest he pick up steve gerber's hard time to understand how to deal with a non superhero who has powers...and guys...chuck is coming back because it garnered good ratings....journeyman may not come back because it lost half of heroes already dwindling audience...check out the ratings for jericho's return...sometimes the suits are right
-
Reason No. 1 is the blonde. Reason No. 2 is the hot sister. Reason No. 3 is Adam Baldwin. Reason No. 4 is CAPTAIN AWESOME! Reason No. 5 is the possibility of more Rachel Bilson.
-
I loved that show. Damn you writer's strike!
-
American Gladiators?...tsk...tsk. While shows like Journeyman go to the brink of oblivion (and Bionic Woman just dies, sorry). The wants of the many outweigh the wants of the few (with better taste). Oh well, back to my Angel DVD's!
-
Chuck and Heroes.
-
Put it in Sarah Lancaster's butt (CHUCK's Sister) right after i take it out of Hayden Panetiere's?
Seriously though, Journeyman was the best new show of this season and if these suits actually watched TV instead of playing system analyst all day, then they'd realize viewing figures does not equate quality; sometimes people just don't get a chance to see a gem because of the crappy schedule it gets. Like being pasted against Monday night footbal for example! I;m glad Pushing Daisies is coming back because it's truly unique TV, Chuck deserves its 2nd season but i hope REAPER gets a 2nd chance to shine too, its just as cheap as Chuck but is the most entertaining show on the box! -
KETCHUP SANDWICHES!! FUCK NBC!!
-
Seriously; you have got to be on crack to bring back LIFE over the best freakin GENRE show since BSG. Take a chance. Take a fucking chance, NBC.
-
JOURNEYMAN!! JOURNEYMAN!!! YOU FUCKS!!! JOURNEY!! FUCKING!! MAN!! GETCHA HEADS OUTTA YER ASSES AN' GET THE BALL ROLLING AGAIN!!!! Y'BUNCHA FUCKWITS!!!
-
What a douche!! Friday Night Lights has more class in a single episode than this douchebag will come to know in his entire life. The next original thought he has will be the first. Case in point:
Before he took over at NBC his claims to fame were The Office and Ugly Betty, both ripoffs of well established foreign television shows. Since his take over his claims to fame have been:
American Gladiators, Knight Rider and Celebrity Apprentice! He wouldn't know original or quality if it bit him in the ass. FUCK I hate this guy. He is turning a once quality network into Fox of the early 90's. It's only a matter of time before we are seeing America's Dumbest-Mindnumbing Police Chases, When Animals Attack Transexuals and anything else he can copy. -
Don't get too attached. It's done after the last 4 episodes if history is any guide. Fox would have pulled the plug long ago if it weren't for the strike. Expensive hourlong dramas that don't perform with big ratings on Fox get axed. They'll show the last four but no way they bring it back with the ratings it gets. Case in point: Fastlane, Drive and many more.
-
The fact that you're championing Bionic Woman while denouncing Chuck for not being 'deep' does more to defeat your own argument than anything I could post here.
-
idol last nite...and still no one watched...well barely no one...the show lost out to a rerun of boston legal...i still dont get the whole idol thing...i mean the audition parts are ok...cuz theyre highly edited and set so that most we see are the freaks, but the rest of the show is boring...go to youtube, there are tons of undiscovered talent on that site who are all much better than anything idol has ever put out...and i liked the show much better...when it was called the gong show and hosted by the genius chuck barris
-
journeyman couldnt find an audience to make it profitable...havent you been paying attention during the strike? the industry is about dollars, cents and how much money i have to support my mistress and all my booty calls....be upset if you want...im holding back my anger for punsher:war journal....i hated the pre ennis punisher with a passion...cant wait to troll the imdb boards
-
Heroes still rules! Yah tah!
-
Although just an okay show, Bionic Woman had potential to grow into something great with some solid writing and a few less producer changes.
-
how do u figure ? bionic was gettin better slowly, chuck never got off the ground. how anyone can watch chuck and not feel dazed n confused is strange. maybe it just takes a retard to watch it...or heavy drugs.
-
Nobody thought to use Sunday Night Football as a means to promote the Peabody winning Friday Night Lights? Idiots.
-
IMO. Chuck's writing has good characters but plot and dialogue has been lackluster (I end up watching funnier Big Bamg Theory instead). Heroes S2 had major pacing problems, but I'm willing to give it another shot. Life consistantly delivered with good well developed character based drama. And Journeyman was a treat and very smart(which made viewers feel dumb). Journeyman's biggest flaw will make it a great DVD release; that flaw of cours was its ginormous music budget(they cleared the rights for every song used for the DVD).
-
crazy rumor going around that NBC wants to sue the WGA because the strike ruined the Golden Globes show. These NBC executives are idiots. The Golden Globes have no real respect in the industry. The voters are 30-50 freelance writers who just sit at home and watch TV, which explains why there TV nominations are actually pretty good, because they are the only people in L.A. who watch primetime TV Mondays-Saturdays. Everyone else in that city has to work those days.Glad "Chuck" is coming back, hope the girl from "Bionic Woman" just banked her checks. If she did, she can now be more selective with her next project. The girl does have talent and is easy on the eyes.------later------m
-
This will just add to Trump's already over-exagerated sense of self. If that's even possible.
-
I kinda wish this wasn't so cancelled, it had a piss poor start and the revolving door of producers clearly fucked things, but it did seem to be getting interesting when it got cancelled.
Still, I'm glad Chuck is back, it's probably the best new show of the season.
I just hope Prison Break isn't cancelled... even though I'm still pissed they killed Dr Sara off. :( -
I wouldn't mind Heroes coming back for a third season. I liked the first, and was ok with the second. On the other hand, a potential cancellation could motivate Kristen Bell to opt for Playboy if she's strapped for cash. Girl's gotta eat!
-
I'd actually want the writers strike to be still running.
-
"I was just doing what our English friends call taking a piss"Quite close there but it's actually taking 'the' piss (as in 'Are you taking the piss out of me? If you are, I'm gonna smack you in your head."Sorry to hear about FNL. I know you were a big fan of that one.
-
More like NBC couldn't find the audience that watched Journeyman since they actually did exist.
You'd think that the Jericho thing would have shown the Networks that their old ratings gathering methods are outdated.
Pfftt....American Gladiator. The chicks look like juiced up dudes with make-up. Yuck. -
are now finally online. I defy you not to say "These were OUTTAKES?" http://tinyurl.com/3e2fvq.
-
showcase of her talent. It just wasn't. P.S.; that prior post of mine; that was in ref to Kristen Bell's TV Guide Heroes cover shoot issue with Hayden Panettiere and Ali Larter.
-
After a shaky start, this show really came into it's own, so I'm psyched to see it getting picked up! Same for Life. Couldn't care less about Heroes anymore. But I totally agree with all who said Journeyman should come back - amazing show!
And where... is the Reaper? He's at home, washing his cancellation! -
Sorry guys... I watched every show of Journeyman and liked it... wish it had been renewed... but I think it's about time you guys get over it -- it is NOT coming back!!
Thank GOD someone at NBC has half a brain to stand behind LIFE -- the best written show on Television right now besides the wire (and soon to be the best, once the wire is done). Best dialogue on network TV right now. Period. I just hope they put it in a better timeslot to give it more of a chance at better ratings. -
who think that only a show's "creators" are worthy of residuals: They had the concept, the premise, the basic structure, the cast--but the writing and plotting was pure excrement. Bad Writing killed that show. Bad WritKring almost took Heroes down in S2.Chuck, on the other hand, has a pretty silly concept, but has great casting and GREAT writing--it is back, BW is not. Here Endeth The Lesson.
-
a stinkfest.
-
and I'm not listening to you, it will come back...nah-nah-nah-nah-nah (fingers in ears)
-
Journeyman is worth more investment. I'm really disappointed that NBC is only choosing to look at numbers with that one. The time slot was not good, and not helped by a poor season of HEROES. Frankly, Journeyman is the ONLY show they have worth a renewal. Oh well, my TV goes back off. Nothing to watch.
-

I've also enjoyed Chuck, and hope to be more entertained by S3 of Heroes than I was by S2. But NBC is on my shit-list for cancelling Journeyman and (possibly) Friday Night Lights. What happened to quality television? Oh, right, the networks decided to pander to the fickle, ADD afflicted masses by airing programs that are the equivalent of shiny beads. "Look at how preety they are when they catch the light. Ooooh!" It's like the networks are just holding up their keys and rattling them. "That'll keep them distracted for the hour". But what NBC fails to realize is if they go after that audience, that's what they will be stuck with. The rest of us who require substance will be forced to move on to greener pastures. If NBC wants to become the gameshow network, go ahead, those of us that want something more will watch ABC or even CBS. And when the easily-entertained masses begin to wake from their NBC crapfest comas and look around to see nothing but a plucked peacock, they too will leave in search of something more. So good luck NBC in your desperate attempt to get as much cash as you can flooding your schedule with primetime gameshows, it will be the death of you.

It was ok at the beginning, then it starting getting good. Then towards the end, it starting getting really good. Just add it to the list of shows that were too good for primetime television.
-
network television!! What animals needed to be sacrificed to insure that?? Boo to American Gladiators. I'd rather watch Ninja Challenge on G4, its more entertaining.
-
Although in the past I've hated Damian Lewis in his British incarnation, as thingy, Crews on Life he has this weird Steve McQueenish thing going on (his is the best American accent outside of Jonny Lee Miller, Jamie Bamber and Anna Friel) and I sort of dig him. The story arc is weird and unsettling, he has this bizarre push-me-pull-you dance going on with his Hispanic/Arabic partner, and...I just like him. I so wanted to love Journeyman, and instead I end up loving Life. Go figure.
-
are picking up production, and adding additional episodes due to the end of the writers strike (did anyone think it would last longer than the Oscar telecast..?), and Reaper is not on that list. Too bad. Hopefully Ray Wise will be remembered this summer for the Emmys.
-
I mean, it was a show about redneck football players in Texas, right? *Sensitive* redneck football players in Texas? WTF? Who wants to see that - well, except *other* sensitive redneck football players in Texas?
-
Man, that cast was bland.
-
boo, that sucks. wanted it to keep going.
-
If Bionic Woman does get canceled (It's just questionable at the moemnt that it will be renewed), hopefully some show worthy of Michelle Ryan's talent will pick her up. BTW, Jekyll ruled!
-
but after a few episodes, I lost all intrest. jamie leading a double life unbeknownst to her little sister gets old real fast. You would think she's Spiderwoman or something. The supporting characters aside from Miguel ferrer, isaiah washington and the Starbuck chick were boring.
not too mention lack of fembots, I was hoping for a more hardcore BW who performs rescue missions one moment, then assassinations the next. Instead the producers are sticking to the original premise from the 70's series. Wasted potentual indeed. -
Granted, this show started off as a Quantum Leap rip-off. A weak one at that. But I gotta admit this sucker grew on me towards the end. The stories got darker and more mature, and the time travel actually started to make sense as it was explained. Too bad NBC, you really should have stuck with this one 1 more season.
Life...Loved it, Crews is a cool cat and I can't wait to see him get darker next season. -
Fire every writer on Heroes and hire the team from Mutant Enemy's shows (I know Herc would support that), or somebody who can deliver strong characters AND good action/suspense AND humor. They've got a decent set up, by the need a whole new show runner to make something out of it before it all goes to shit. One more shit season and this show will be in the crapper. Journeyman however was good, it will be the biggest loss of this season if it doesn't get renewed.
-
I haven't heard if it's cancelled, being a CW show it probably won't get much support from its network, but this article is about NBC shows so I wouldn't be upset that it isn't mentioned in here.
-
How's things? We need ya in the Lost TB; heathens are having a field day dissing Kristen, and I needs all the help I can get. :) Seriously, hope everything's well.
-
Is it because it gets no laughs?
-
I actually enjoy Chuck, but the setup couldn't be passed up.
-
so am i understanding correctly that u think CHUCK is a quality show ? u musta said that for laughs..chuck is for the brain dead mtv generation, im really not sure how anyone can get thru one whole episode without cuttin their wrists or strangling themselves with a plastic bag. ..and for the 'turd that said "EACH MOMENT IS MORE INTERESTING THAN THE LAST" are u kidding ?? give me whatever drugs ur doing or just STFU.......... life was worth bringin back and so is journeyman.....i still like bionic, i still feel it was gettin better as it went...im glad the internet wasnt around when star trek next gen came out, otherwise u crying babies woulda cried for 2 yrs, thats how many seasons it took for that show to hit its full stride, it lasted for 7 yrs.

Xiphos, that is brilliance! LONG LIVE JOURNEYMAN!!!
-
I don't believe I'm saying this, but that's a guilty pleasure; especially hearing the actual Japanese TV-Asahi (?) broadcast. So, so fun.
-
Come, a little Journeyman. Really, did you expect more than 3 to 4 million a night in that time slot with the way you were marketing that?
-
To answer your question Xiphos - busy, dude! Got myself a smart new job that takes up a lot of my time but also pays me almost twice as much as before! So all is good.Oh and I've been getting drunk a lot which is also good.Pennsy - they're dissing K.Bell? What on earth for?! I shall roll straight over and take a look!
-
seriously, Listen to me:"Taking A piss" means to go to the toilet. "Taking THE piss" is to tease/ take the mickey/ insult. I don't mean to be a grammar nazi, and I meant to correct him at the time, but never, ever, listen to the little prick about anything.
-
for goodness sake theres a love here for this show and the thing is its everyone whos saying it, theres people who normally wouldnt watch who love it. this is a grower that needs a person to run with it and see that it has the potential to be your biggest hit. for goodness sake give it another shot. those writers have gotten there rhythem sorted, they will pull out the stops and we'll all watch. I cant belive you did relaise this on dvd already. do it, and see how many people buy the godamm season. http://www.savejourneyman.net

I wanted to hat that show, but my wife insisted on watching it before Heroes and Journeyman. I enjoyed Journeyman, but it needed to pick up a bit. Once I realized Chuck did not take itself as serious as Bionic Woman and how sharp the humor and cast was, it really took me in. I won't shit on Lost as I simply have not watched the show, but there is so much crap. I love CSI, but the two spinoffs are off in a totally other dimension. Bionica Lewinsky could not get off the fuckin' ground. Miguel Ferrer needs a better vehicle and put his shit out front. Heroes was simply insulting. The only thing good about Season or Chapter or Volume 2, whatever, was that the shitty Ali Larter storyline finally fuckin' ended. DL gets shot (believed to be dead) at the end of season one, only to come back, be a cooler, more heroic character, to get shot...again...saving Ali Larter from her third, unseen personality, that was not mean and superpowered, but slutty. What a great turn for a SciFi/Fantasy show...other than Chuck, there was not much to speak about on Network TV. A censored Dexter is on its way, which is great, but censored. Dexter was the best show this season and last season.
-
Quantum leap was about a man traveling through time, changing the past. Journeyman was about happens to the modern day life and loved ones of a man travels through time, and aside from like two episodes, Quantum Leap never covered that subject.
-
There was something about the pre-air that I hated, but I still gave it a chance and ended up really enjoying Chuck. Ideally though, I'd like to see NBC maintain its entire Monday night lineup, Journeyman included. Mondays are so depressing that it was nice to have three shows in a row that I could watch.
Heroes needs to nail the next season premiere, dispensing with any slow build. I still think it's a good show, but you can't leave people with the taste of crap in their mouths for so long and not expect the numbers to take a big hit. This was the real problem with the Lost S3 6-ep mini-season, followed by a long break. The long break wouldn't have been an issue had those eps been good. Heroes was well loved, until people had time to discuss that bad S1 finale. Following it with a short season that didn't really go anywhere just multiplied that effect. If Kring is clever enough to realize this, then we should be in for a good start next fall. Otherwise, I'll have to stop giving that show the benefit of the doubt.
-
programming over shows like American Gladiators or Celebrity Apprentice. I don't know what you expected from Chuck, maybe you were hoping for Bourne: The Series? For me it was exactly what I thought it would be: light and cartoonish. Certainly not the best new show but certainly not the worst either."...im really not sure how anyone can get thru one whole episode without cuttin their wrists or strangling themselves with a plastic bag. .."I take it, since you are still with us, you never did watch an entire episode. I have to disagree with you. Not a perfect show by any means, but much better than you would have us believe. But then again, you thought Bionic Woman was getting better, while I thought it was getting worse. So obviously we see things differently.
-
Is that they all have quality character development. Chuck's characters are more vivid, vibrant and energetic. Journeyman's so morose and worrying. Life's characters are all mysteries and paradoxes. All 3 are procedurals but with strong character driven story arcs. It's kind of a 'what flavor fits your personality' sort of thing. I think of the 3, Journeyman got cancelled because it had the least potential (at least in exec eyes) to grow the audience beyond the hardcore fanbase. Look at it this way tho... at least it got cancelled before it started going downhill and the networks had a chance to totally fuck it up by 'trying to make it more interesting.'
-
It would be a big mistake for NBC to cancel "Friday Night Lights". It's the best drama they have, and I hear it's inexpensive to make and very efficiently run. What they should do is actually promote the show and promote it well. As for "Reaper", The CW did order more episodes for this season. Therefore, it's still being considered for renewal.

That's all I think when I see him.
