GMA Gets Crystal Skullier!! INDY IV Teaser Trailer Thursday Morning!!

Published at:  Feb 12, 2008 6:13:59 PM CST

Merrick here...

The long awaited, highly anticipated, exhaustively discussed "teaser trailer" for INDIANA JONES AND THE KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL will debut Thursday on ABC's GOOD MORNING AMERICA (yeesh), and make its way to Yahoo movies, the official site, and theaters shortly thereafter.

Word is the trailer will air between 8-9am...no time zone specified so I'm not sure how that works out.

So says the film's official site!

GMA, hunh? They're making us work for this one. 'Tis for reasons like this wise souls created DVRs, I suppose. Are there any news babes on GMA now? Where there ever?

Sure Raiders is the best but all three films rock my world. TOD has Short Round (get bent haters), that opening scene with all the tommy guns(tommy guns automatically give a movie a 1 star boost), Mola Ram, that kick ass bridge scene, the bit where Indy goes for the gun and it's not there, and the most bad ass Indy moment where the the light on the mine car pans up to a pissed off Indy who then decks the guard and frees the kids. Awesomeness I say!

Temple of Doom - why it gets a bad rap

    by laserbrain

I think it's mostly because the structure is pretty poor. Too much action in the tail end that would have been better spread out across the narrative. The movie hits the mid-point then launches almost immediately into a way-too-long third act climax leaving its second act undercooked and the viewer exhausted. The tone is also admittedly cartoonish compared to Raiders which turns a lot of people off - fair criticism. _____ That said - I still love it. Indy is badass, the set-pieces are phenomenal, Spielberg's direction is tight as a drum and don't forget the giant balls on that musical score. Count me in on that fan club, boys.

Is ABC mistaken about John Rhys-Davies appearing in Indy 4 like they say in the above link???? They say....Indiana Jones Then and Now
John Rhys-Davies' name may not be as familiar as those of the other actors from "Indiana Jones," but his face is unforgettable. Even when he was covered in heavy makeup as the horny dwarf Gimli in the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy, Rhys-Davies made his presence known. He appeared in the first and third installment of "Indiana Jones" and will appear in the new film this year.

    by bringingsexyback

Indy and Short Round accomplished more in that movie than the other two combined (saves child slaves, saves village from famine, destroys cult). And then you get the whole bonus setup club scene. It was a roller coaster ride. Not to mention one of the most quotable movies in history. Crusade ... let's see ... all's I remember is Indy and Connery strapped to a chair, spinning on a rotating fireplace, and the last scene going to the grail lair.

And I still prefer Raiders over them all, because in the words of NoDiggity, it was Indy being Indy. He was himself, and he didn't care about his fedora hat. Which is Indy not being Indy. So Raiders is the best because it was really Indy, and not an Indy caring about his hat. Or his whip. Just Indy. For real. Indy.

Raiders is the classic but Temple has so much going for it. The bridge scene, the minecar chase and the club scene are three of the defining Indy sequences, not to mention all the great stuff throughout - the vicious voodoo, the monkey brains dinner, the come-ons between Indy and Willie, Short Round being nowhere near as annoying as the kid actors we have today ("I small! You cheat big!"), the score, the spot-on direction and editing. I think the main problem it has is that it feels a bit claustrophobic - it takes place over two or three days or two or three locations, whereas Raiders and especially Crusade are grand, epic adventures over many countries, lots of outdoor action sequences and sequences of Indy being a professor (which helped ground the character). That's not to say this detracts from Temple, just that it feels different. But saying you prefer one Indy film to another doesn't make any of them bad.

    TOD revisionism

    by heroic_duo

I love Indy but TOD fails. Capshaw is hideous, all the children are annoying and the villains were lame. Even the effects are somewhat sub par.
Hope the new one doesn't suck too much. I just want to hear the theme in a theater again.

    TOD was Hideous

    by nodiggity

I watched it recently for the first time since I first saw it. It had a few redeeming moments ... Short round was a cute spunky funny kid, and delivered his lines with panache. Kate Capshaw looked hot when her "I Dream of Jeanne" outfit got wet, but otherwise it was awful. Noisy, retardedly illogical, with one of Williams' worst scores (he had to continually score for "jittery action" all throughout). It seemed to be aimed at 5 year olds, and then it would switcheroo to removing beating hearts. Watching TOD and CRUSADE back to back made CRUSADE look good.

All the Indy films are great

    by skywalkerfamily

It's a great series of films. They just get better and better. The only complaint I have about Last Cruade is the ending where Sallah makes fun of Indy because he took it from his dog. Hey dude, Indy saved you a bunch of times and you laugh at him?

    Okay then...spoilers

    by blackironprison

Just a couple bits that i remember clearly. It opens and shows segments from the previous films with words like "First he found the Ark..." blah blah blah. Then shows a shot of Indy being thrown on the ground by a bunch of soldiers. Then moves into showing bits of a chase sequence in "the raiders warehouse". Some funny lines that i wont quote. Niagra Falls, Blanchett looking menacing, people rushing out of large temple, explosions, jeep chase on cliffs, eye-glasses magnetically stick to warehouse box, and shia saying "you're a teacher?", indy says "Part time". Some more after that, but you get the gist at least. IMHO it looks fucking good. Oh, and only one shot looks like typical Januz cinematography, the rest look in line with the old ones. So far, so good.

Funny that no-one seems to care

    by blackironprison

BTW it will be on Jumper, Definitely Maybe, and step up 2 in most places as well. Thats if the projectionist at your local theater didn't take it for himself already. Like I was going to before i decided against it. I dont want Lucas to ass-rape me! Unless he pays me a couple million and i can down a roofie first. If that were the case id let him take a dump in my mouth if he so desired, cause it aint like id remember it.
