Jay Leno Drives & Talks To Kilmer-KITT!!
Merrick here...
Spoiler TV has posted a 7+ minute piece displaying the Knight Industries Three Thousand (KITT) from NBC's KNIGHT RIDER relaunch.
The video stars Jay Leno & is cut to make it seem as if Leno & KITT are stunt driving together...evoking a disconcerting alternate reality in which Leno & KITT actually appear as leads in the same series. What wacky hijinks would ensue!
We also get to hear a bit more Kilmer as KITT.
SEE IT HERE!!!
The backdoor pilot/2 hour TV movie, a direct sequel to The Hoff's show, airs Sunday on NBC.

Ray.. I mean Michael.. the doors of perception are open..

WTFEVA.
-
In such a brief video . . . well done, Iceman. BTW: Jay Leno may be an asshole, but you got to love a dude who loves the right kind of car.
-
This Sunday? I haven't seen a promo or ad for this. Then again, I'm not watching American Gladiators
-
I dig it.
-
He'll do just fine.
-
I hope Kitt busts out the Top Gun tunes especially "playing with the boys"..and say "you can be my wing man any day" to Hasslehoff when he makes his cameo.
-
Kilmer, you're better than this! You wonder why you get no love from serious movies and directors, then you go do something like this!
-
He has that just slightly superior tone in his voice, like William Daniels.
-
I agree, I like Kilmer and hes done great work, but KITT is a step backwards man. And this new Knight Rider isnt going to be around long. The original was a wacky concept that had the right mix of talent, at the right time, and it all just kinda worked. Dont see it working now. I DO think that the A-Team could work if the right approach was taken, not that it'll ever happen with a movie on the way but the group of military types doing missions and what-not could work. Some douche bag instead of the Hoff and Iceman as the talking car? Not so much
-
then what the fuck is this doing on here?
I CALL SHENNANIGANS!!!!!!!! -
What...this isn't that?
-
but who the fuck still watches that tool, Jay Leno? Bland and boring, holy christ.
-
Leno's car humor is so obscure. Too bad most people have no frame of reference by which to appreciate it. This guy should do a car show when he retires.
-
Feb 12, 2008 11:53:31 AM CST
I think Leno was supposed to give "street cred"
by shut the fuck up donny
since he's an car enthusiast. But, I love how he keeps qualifying his statements with "for a Mustang...," and "its still a Mustang, but..." Looks like he can't take that car seriously either. That's the kind of car spoiled teenagers or old guys who can't afford a Corvette get.
-
Not that Leno is in any way as cool as he'd like you to think, but this was old news...
http://tinyurl.com/2y6gnb -
Any of us "old guys" smart enough to appreciate the Corvette wouldn't be caught dead in any POS FORD. The producers of this travesty should be beaten over the head with Burt Reynolds' toupee for substituting a Rustang for the original Firebird...
-
Leno's garage is sponsored by GM... which is likely why Jay had to keep saying that, since a Mustang is a Ford. Which really when you think about it is the joke of this thing, everyone involved with the comeback has had ties to GM, yet NBC fucked up and went with Ford.
-
LOL. Totally agree. I meant no offense, but merely based this general observation (rant) on the amount of old dudes in this area who drive souped up new mustangs thinking their shit don't stink--because nobody told them that if they're 50+ and never made enough to afford a proper sports car, they probably should have just given up and kept their Camry.
-
Fucked up is an understatement. Considering GM already went out of their way to whore their entire brand line out for Transformers, it couldn't have been that hard for NBC to get a hold of a New Camaro, a new ZR1 Corvette, or even tried to push the new Pontiac G8. Mind you, the last is not a coupe, but they could have hired Mr. Cat-in-the-Hat-Car man to make it a 2-door.
And good point about Leno's garage being sponsored by GM. I had forgotten about that. -
... and I can't believe Val's been reduced to this.
-
As far as a full series goes...we shall see. Shows like Knight Rider just can't be done any more. They can't even make Heroes into a good show!
-
i think maybe he hasn't been reduced to this, but inflated to this. his weight is way up, and that may be why he's taking off-camera work. i agree that he was awesome in KKBB, though. he's pretty much awesome in everything. stop eating the ho hos, though, val.
-
but wait till you see the commercial he just did for The Clapper- it's easily his best work since Top Gun!
"Clap on, clap off- The Clapper!!" -

sorry about the repost; Power outage here, and I guess I posted before it went out.
-
that would be better
-
... or was it CSI:Miami, or CSI:New York? (They all blend together sometimes) Guy needs to start doing Nutra-System ads... serious middle-age bloat! It's better he just does voice overs at this point.
-
More Super Pursuit Mode.
-
No question about it.
-
I'm still seething with rage from when I found out about the change. I mean, I love the Mustang, it's probably my all-time favorite car. But I'm still super pissed about it. Why not just wait till a new trans-am comes out (they are bringing back all the other older cars, so why not) and make it that. It's retarded. I won't see this.
-
re-remake The Island Of Dr Moreau in the Marlon Brando role. Get that man a muumuu. And yes, based on Kiss Kiss, he and Downey need to team up again immediately!
-
WTF happened? I thought that was inspired casting. I guess Kilmer works out better but damn. Oh well.
-
This will fail worse than knight Rider 2000
-
I thought he was too giggle-inducing as KITT. Personally, I think the whole thing is going to be a disaster. KITT is underwhelming...to say the least. So be it. I hope it's awesome...but I'm wary.
-
apparently Arnett's schedule conflicted, causing him to bow out. They had the story here a couple weeks ago. I was crushed. I only hoped he'd do it as Gob, that sexy, raspy voice. "Look at banner Michael!"
-
if the fanboys hate it , it will do quite well....theyll all watch every episode to critique it, boosting the ratings.....hahahhahah
-
It was reported by AICN and others some time in the last couple of weeks that Will Arnett (aka GOB from Arrested Development fame) had to bow out due to his voice over work for GMC truck commercials. Since KITT is a Ford Mustang, Ford let him go because it seemed inappropriate and could cause confusion between brand names. Yeah, whatever dudes!
-
He may have lost this KITT voiceover gig but...he's still mariied to that cute as all hell AMY POEHLER!!! So, it's all good!
-
I still am hoping we get cameos from other famous cars in this show. Nuthin starring. Just have the Ateam van parked next to KITT in a split second shot. Or the Starsky car drive by. Kilmer in the Batmobile.
-
...why Val Kilmer would do this?VO is the easiest gig in the industry. Why WOULDN'T Kilmer take a crapload of money for a couple hours work??? Murray's done it for two horrid Garfield movies now.

Slone13 is dead-on. Vo work is the "work at home" of showbiz...
by cletus van damme
...go to work in your jammies w/o makeup. Who WOULDN'T want that gig?
-
Apparently he's been doing GMC Truck VO for years and Ford didn't want any brand confusion. So there you have it. It's Ford's fault that one of the cooler aspects of the show has been dropped
-
Damn dude. What the Hell happened to you? Call Stallone ASAP about whipping you into shape.
-
the very last line kitt says is pretty funny. writers strike and all.
-
Take lotsa of human growth hormone... then do 10 push ups.
-
I think he could do well, he has to infuse more of a distinctive personality, or lack thereof into the character. Just try and copy the original would be his best bet.
-
Can NO decisions be made based on creative direction anymore? If the design of the STAR OF THE SHOW is based on the highest bidder the show shouldn't be made.
-
THIS NEW KNIGHT RIDER WILL SUCK WITHOUT THE HOFFMAN, SORRY KILMER.
-
According to IMDB.com, "Will Arnett had originally been the voice of KITT, but was replaced because he had done commercial voiceovers for General Motors and the show uses Ford cars, creating a conflict of interest."
-
and i have cursed all your new series... this one included. http://tinyurl.com/y74ml9
-
poor horsey.
-
They may actually get me to watch this show, after all.
-
Kilmer, a mainstream Hollywood actor and therefore a member of SAG, makes a "they should pay me for these promotions" crack. Freaking awesome, and I love that nobody's mentioned it yet. Go strike!!! Fuck the AMPTP!

Where's the Talkback???

http://tinyurl.com/2wvtxt.
"On Tuesday, members of the Writers Guilds East and West voted by a 92.5% margin to lift the restraining order that was invoked on November 5th. The strike is over.
"Writing can resume immediately. If you were employed when the strike began, you should plan to report to work on Wednesday. If you're not employed at an office or other work site, call or e-mail your employer that you are resuming work. If you have been told not to report to work or resume your services, we recommend that you still notify your employer in writing of your availability to do so. Questions concerning return-to-work issues should be directed to the WGAW legal department or the WGAE’s assistant executive director Ann Toback.
"The decision to begin this strike was not taken lightly and was only made after no other reasonable alternative was possible. We are profoundly aware of the economic loss these fourteen weeks have created not only for our members but so many other colleagues who work in the television and motion picture industries. Nonetheless, with the establishment of the WGA jurisdiction over new media and residual formulas based on distributor’s gross revenue (among other gains) we are confident that the results are a significant achievement not only for ourselves but the entire creative community, now and in the future.
"We hope to build upon the extraordinary energy, ingenuity, and solidarity that were generated by your hard work during the strike.
"Over the next weeks and months, we will be in touch with you to discuss and develop ways we can use our unprecedented unity to make our two guilds stronger and more effective than ever.
"Now that the strike has ended, there remains the vote to ratify the new contract. Ballots and information on the new deal, both pro and con, will be mailed to you shortly. You will be able to return those ballots via mail or at a membership meeting to be held Monday, February 25th, 2008, at times and locations to be determined.
"Thank you for making it possible. As ever, we are all in this together." -
Look at me, missing your post. D'oh! Good catch.

now with FULLSCREEN...
btw didn't Kilmer sound perfect as KITT? He had that whole kinda sassy patronising quality to his voice that Daniels had, ya know? -
it's called Burn Notice and it's produced by Fox...
tell me I'm wrong -
Hope they have a full slate of eps this summer
-
meh.
-
but a new KNIGHT RIDER show? I dunno
-
Only thing worth watching.
-
I saw a pic of Kilmer recently, fuck he weighed like 900 pounds.
Val gotta eat. -

First I Am Legend, now this. Getting sick of this generic "muscle car" on screen- it has no style or elegance at all.
-
Girl at Party: "Why?
KITT: "Don't you know that eating that stuff can give you very large breasts?"
KITT: "Oh, my God! I'm too late!" -
or more to the point, to you, you let me know, okay?"
-
His late night success will go down in the annals of television history as one of the greatest "What The Fucks...?" ever.
-
Just sayin'...
-
http://tinyurl.com/2xqn53. Now that is one futuristic looking car. Instead, we get is piece of crap....
-
He doesn't keep himself "movie trim" when he's not doing a film. When he gets a role, though, he loses the weight and steps up.
He shouldn't have to be in movie star mode all the time. Fuck the tabloids! -
Some of you are idiots. Voice over is a cool gig. Why is it "a new low" when Kilmer does KITT, but perfectly acceptable when ever celebrity within shouting distance does voices on the CGI movie-of-the-week?
Fuck you all. You'd do the voice over work, too, if you were told all you have to do is show up in the studio, read your lines for a couple hours, and then go home and cash your enormous paycheck.
Good on you, Val! -
He starred along side Brando in the Island of Dr Moreau. Now Val Kilmer is doing the remake with Topher Grace and Kilmer is in the Brando role, costaring minime as the lil monkey man thing
-
So, Val Kilmer's name in Real Genius was Chris Knight. Now he's the voice of Kitt. It's the part he was born to play, baby!
-
I have to admit that Kitt does sound cool. I'm sorry.
-
Val Kilmer as Kitt doesn't sound anywhere near as bad as I was expecting. I'm really excited to see this... Even if my expectations are not very high.
-
its alright, i just wanted some credit. we should be friends and hang out now..heh.
-
I really used to like Val Kilmer. It is dissapointing to see him doing voice over work as a car. He should get on 24 as an agent and work with jack bauer for a season or so.
-
Of course I'm a Mustang owner ( Black GT ). As for all you guys who don't like Mustangs it hardly matters as people are paying way above sticker price for Shelby Cobras they are so popular. I liked the old Trans AM but they don't make those anymore. About the the car I think the guy who's going to play the lead and the writing will matter more. But looks promising.
