Jay Leno Drives & Talks To Kilmer-KITT!!

Published at:  Feb 12, 2008 10:29:12 AM CST

Merrick here...

Spoiler TV has posted a 7+ minute piece displaying the Knight Industries Three Thousand (KITT) from NBC's KNIGHT RIDER relaunch.

The video stars Jay Leno & is cut to make it seem as if Leno & KITT are stunt driving together...evoking a disconcerting alternate reality in which Leno & KITT actually appear as leads in the same series. What wacky hijinks would ensue!

We also get to hear a bit more Kilmer as KITT.

SEE IT HERE!!!

The backdoor pilot/2 hour TV movie, a direct sequel to The Hoff's show, airs Sunday on NBC.

I agree, I like Kilmer and hes done great work, but KITT is a step backwards man. And this new Knight Rider isnt going to be around long. The original was a wacky concept that had the right mix of talent, at the right time, and it all just kinda worked. Dont see it working now. I DO think that the A-Team could work if the right approach was taken, not that it'll ever happen with a movie on the way but the group of military types doing missions and what-not could work. Some douche bag instead of the Hoff and Iceman as the talking car? Not so much

since he's an car enthusiast. But, I love how he keeps qualifying his statements with "for a Mustang...," and "its still a Mustang, but..." Looks like he can't take that car seriously either. That's the kind of car spoiled teenagers or old guys who can't afford a Corvette get.

Leno's garage is sponsored by GM... which is likely why Jay had to keep saying that, since a Mustang is a Ford. Which really when you think about it is the joke of this thing, everyone involved with the comeback has had ties to GM, yet NBC fucked up and went with Ford.

LOL. Totally agree. I meant no offense, but merely based this general observation (rant) on the amount of old dudes in this area who drive souped up new mustangs thinking their shit don't stink--because nobody told them that if they're 50+ and never made enough to afford a proper sports car, they probably should have just given up and kept their Camry.

by shut the fuck up donny

Fucked up is an understatement. Considering GM already went out of their way to whore their entire brand line out for Transformers, it couldn't have been that hard for NBC to get a hold of a New Camaro, a new ZR1 Corvette, or even tried to push the new Pontiac G8. Mind you, the last is not a coupe, but they could have hired Mr. Cat-in-the-Hat-Car man to make it a 2-door.

And good point about Leno's garage being sponsored by GM. I had forgotten about that.

It was reported by AICN and others some time in the last couple of weeks that Will Arnett (aka GOB from Arrested Development fame) had to bow out due to his voice over work for GMC truck commercials. Since KITT is a Ford Mustang, Ford let him go because it seemed inappropriate and could cause confusion between brand names. Yeah, whatever dudes!

    The strike is over.

    by pennsy

    http://tinyurl.com/2wvtxt.

"On Tuesday, members of the Writers Guilds East and West voted by a 92.5% margin to lift the restraining order that was invoked on November 5th. The strike is over.

"Writing can resume immediately. If you were employed when the strike began, you should plan to report to work on Wednesday. If you're not employed at an office or other work site, call or e-mail your employer that you are resuming work. If you have been told not to report to work or resume your services, we recommend that you still notify your employer in writing of your availability to do so. Questions concerning return-to-work issues should be directed to the WGAW legal department or the WGAE’s assistant executive director Ann Toback.

"The decision to begin this strike was not taken lightly and was only made after no other reasonable alternative was possible. We are profoundly aware of the economic loss these fourteen weeks have created not only for our members but so many other colleagues who work in the television and motion picture industries. Nonetheless, with the establishment of the WGA jurisdiction over new media and residual formulas based on distributor’s gross revenue (among other gains) we are confident that the results are a significant achievement not only for ourselves but the entire creative community, now and in the future.

"We hope to build upon the extraordinary energy, ingenuity, and solidarity that were generated by your hard work during the strike.

"Over the next weeks and months, we will be in touch with you to discuss and develop ways we can use our unprecedented unity to make our two guilds stronger and more effective than ever.

"Now that the strike has ended, there remains the vote to ratify the new contract. Ballots and information on the new deal, both pro and con, will be mailed to you shortly. You will be able to return those ballots via mail or at a membership meeting to be held Monday, February 25th, 2008, at times and locations to be determined.

"Thank you for making it possible. As ever, we are all in this together."

    Kilmer's weight has always fluctuated.

    by zerocorpse

He doesn't keep himself "movie trim" when he's not doing a film. When he gets a role, though, he loses the weight and steps up.
He shouldn't have to be in movie star mode all the time. Fuck the tabloids!

Why is Voice Over work "a new low"?

    by zerocorpse

Some of you are idiots. Voice over is a cool gig. Why is it "a new low" when Kilmer does KITT, but perfectly acceptable when ever celebrity within shouting distance does voices on the CGI movie-of-the-week?
Fuck you all. You'd do the voice over work, too, if you were told all you have to do is show up in the studio, read your lines for a couple hours, and then go home and cash your enormous paycheck.
    Good on you, Val!

Val Kilmer is slowly becoming the new bloated Brando

    by orionsangels

He starred along side Brando in the Island of Dr Moreau. Now Val Kilmer is doing the remake with Topher Grace and Kilmer is in the Brando role, costaring minime as the lil monkey man thing

    Genius Rider

    by spamgelus

So, Val Kilmer's name in Real Genius was Chris Knight. Now he's the voice of Kitt. It's the part he was born to play, baby!

    I have to admit...

    by quadrupletree

Val Kilmer as Kitt doesn't sound anywhere near as bad as I was expecting. I'm really excited to see this... Even if my expectations are not very high.

    Kilmer should do 24

    by alice cooper stalker

I really used to like Val Kilmer. It is dissapointing to see him doing voice over work as a car. He should get on 24 as an agent and work with jack bauer for a season or so.

    Like The Car!

    by real deal

Of course I'm a Mustang owner ( Black GT ). As for all you guys who don't like Mustangs it hardly matters as people are paying way above sticker price for Shelby Cobras they are so popular. I liked the old Trans AM but they don't make those anymore. About the the car I think the guy who's going to play the lead and the writing will matter more. But looks promising.
