Not as good as previous seasons... so far.

    by the_arashikage

Is it just me, or is this season lacking from previous seasons? It's still the best thing on television by far, but so far this seems to be the worst season of the bunch.

The first scene of 5.7 is really bad.

    by high def jeff

I hadn't been enjoying Season 5 as much as the others..I miss the basics of Season 1-2 where it was primarily a police procedural. But that first scene, with McNulty using a voice changer really soured the season for me. The whole plot of him creating a serial killer has never felt believable, it belongs in another show.

    RE: McNulty's serial killer

    by waggy

i thought it seemed a little "out there" too, but is it really any more so than Hamsterdam? and i like how it's playing out among the politicians, journalists, etc, so i don't mind just going with it.

I'm actually really enjoying this season.

    by eggbeater

I think Clark Johnson is a great addition to the series. The way he delivered the speech about "innocent bystanders" was so perfect. It was funny and serious at the same time. Waggy has a good point. McNulty creating a serial killer is as outlandish as Bunny creating Hamsterdam. I still have a theory that Lester will die of a heart attack. I don't know why. The way he told McNulty he would take the secret to his grave just seemed like a clue to me. Great season so far and I can't wait for tonight's ep.

    by mazzke

People are posting the onDemand episodes usually on Monday. It's just not done by the "scene" so it's less reliable. If more shows started using onDemand, I'm sure they'd start capping them systematically as well.

Personally, I wish HBO would offer episodes on demand for non-hbo subscribers. I would definitely pay to get my Omar fix faster and in high def. Simply price it so that if you order stuff frequently enough, it makes sense to just get a subscription.

    by eggbeater

Great scene with Randy. That kid is just a damn fine actor.

The only time we see Temepleton NOT lie about a story and he finally gets praises from Gus.

I loved it how Omar spread the word about Marlo being a bitch.

The cameo from Nick. Good to see him back even though it was only one scene.

    Pretty good episode all around.

by guy who got a headache and accidentally

The first 7 episodes being available early doesn't have jackshit to do with OnDemand and whether it has a Magic Piracy Shield or not "u douche lol." I too wondered if there was some particular reason why quality copies of the OnDemand episodes weren't out as fast as the regular ones. That's all, you may return to being an unintelligible moron, looking up new cat memes, or whatever you do Spazmo.

    HBO and ratings

    by harrysnemesis

They most definitely do care about ratings, as shown by TV shows that have been cancelled after only one or two seasons (Carnivale, those new shows last season (that i didn't care for and got cancelled quickly))... HBO cares, just not as much as the regular networks. Also I think the cost of production vs. ratings plays into it -- ie, if a series isn't too expensive, it's ok if the ratings aren't all that. If a series is really expensive (Rome for example) they're not going to stick with it too long unless it gets solid ratings. I think they're also very interested in 'buzz' too, ie the sopranos/sex and the city effect... they want shows that will BRING people to HBO, not just ones that the current subscribers watch. So yeah, ratings do matter.

Wire seasons generally start out slow and build up... so hush you complainers :) The scenes with Omar were bad ass. I love how he's calling out Marlo as a bitch... and burned the money instead of taking it.

Ah McNulty... if the fact that half the force was at your last crime scene wasn't a hint that you are going to get busted... now that everyone is going to be on this case next week someone is going to figure it out... loved Freamon almost getting busted on the illegal wiretap too.

not that I disagree with your rant, but just wanted to point out that the word you were looking for might be unintelligent. Unintelligible is an adjective that describes incomprehensible speech. His post was unintelligible, his writing was unintelligible, but he as a person is not. Just wanted you to use the right word when you call someone else a moron. ;)"You can't evacuate people. A building can be evacuated. To evacuate a person means to give that person an enema. Details...God is in the details." -- Gus Haynes

"Wire seasons generally start out slow and build up" uh, exactly but they only have 10 episodes this season, only 3 left to wrap up the entire fucking show, so I don't think complainers should just "hush" they might have some valid complaints or they might not, we'll find out. The News stuff is pretty weak compared to school stuff last year, and the serial killer things seems like something from 24 or The Shield.

...as I pointed out, if you'd like to be precise, it's the method of communication that is unintelligible, not the person. Speech, action, writings, etc. can be unintelligible. Calling a person unintelligible because you didn't understand what he said is like calling a computer unintelligible because you didn't understand an email. Doesn't work.
