SUPER BOWL XLII Second Most Watched TV Show Ever!!
I am – Hercules!!
Only the 1983 series finale of “M*A*S*H” scored a higher rating than Sunday’s Patriots-Giants game, according to Fox.
An estimated 97.5 million viewers viewed -- which still means two-thirds of all Americans were doing something else on Sunday.
The same night’s episode of “House,” starring Mira Sorvino as the cold girl, turned out to be the highest-rated scripted program on any network in two years.

Das right. Res-pect.

fucking all goddamn NFL season "Oh, Tom Brady and Bill Bela-douche, greatest team ever!" "Who can stop the Patriots?" Way to CHOKE! Take that, you cheaters! Guess your cameras weren't working this game, eh?
-
Or loose, I mean lose. Same difference. Fuck the Pats.
-
I was so happy to see the Giants beat down their stuck-up asses.
Also, HOUSE was totally awesome. Love that show more and more every week (at least, when fucking AMERICAN IDOL isn't on). -
I have to say, tonight's episode was awesome. so much better than the last one. If they keep this up, this show may have legs.
-
while people were talking to each other and getting smashed.
-
Even in the middle of its worst season, it's still better than 95% of television.
-
Damn.

Wisconsin watching it on TV.

Just like everybody jumped on the Pats bandwagon before, now everyone is jumping on the hate bandwagon. spare me. You think Brady and Belichick give a FUCK what you think? You think they won't be gunning next year? The last thing they need is more motivation.
-
loving losers! I have ALWAYS hate the Pats! This year just gave me more reason than ever! Most of the people I know can't stand the Pats either and NEVER jumped on the "bandwagon"! As for Brady and Bellachek.....they're done. I'm not saying that they are gonna have a losing season next year or even that they dont have a chance of making another Super Bowl. But you cannot have a season like that and then have it ended in such shame and utter self-destruction as they did and ever recover from that nightmare. They may still have the talent. But something broke in Patriots last night....and you don't get that back. Did you see them after the game? They all acted like they had just had their entire worldview trampled, eaten and spit out! HA! Never cared for the Giants before but they move way up on my list of teams just for that! I'll never forget what those guys did!
-
it doesn't go back together again." - Lowell Bergman from The Insider. Works for this too.
-
best game i have ever seen..and i am not a giant fan..nor patriot, the pats played hard..and tom brady drove his team down the field and scored to take the lead with 2:40 seconds left..just like the champion he is,then eli manning did the the last thing anyone expected..he became a legend in a little over 2 minutes..he will always be remembered in new york...broadway eli..6 weeks ago,a big portion of giant fans would have traded him if they were the team owner..but 6 weeks..and 2 minutes later..and it was great because this is the first SB in years that was'nt a blowout..or ruined by 1 sided referee calls(steelers) lol,i guess belichek did'nt have a chance to watch all the giant practices on video tape like he did against the 2002 rams..hmmm
-
I stopped watching when the Patriots were up 7 to 3, then later on I just switched back to see the patriots victory speeches and HOLY FUCK, the giants weren't going down without a fight. Nailbiting stuff.
-
you pulled the rams video taping card. oh well. Dogmatic, I'm afraid you're wrong. For something to "break in the Patriots" they would have to have something less than iron for will, and trust me, Belichick and Brady have the hardest wills of anyone in the game. They are far from done. They'll be contenders next year, running up the scores again. Guess who won't be contenders next year? did someone say Giants? hmmm...
-
what a boring boring game....take off the helmets andpads and it might be interesting ...oh and also play the game non stop without all the fucking stoppages and you might have something. yawnorama
-
For the rest of his career, Tom Brady is going to be the NFL's version of Derek Jeter. Lots of early success and then the team fell apart. Sure he'll win a lot of games, but that's it for the championships. As Kurt Angle would say, it's true, it's true!
-
...dees nuts.
-
yea i laughed hysterically when they lost.....i was visualizing brady and bellichek in the locker room holding each other sobbing.....i bet brady stole one of the 19-0 tshirts and ran off before they were destroyed...even funnier after buress predicted the score that had the patriots scoring 17 points and brady laughed it off saying he should give them credit for scoring more points than 17 and they only scored 14....hillllarious.....im no giant fan....life long suffering jet fan here , so i didnt really like either team, but i hate the patriots a whole lot more than the giants..... as for the jeter comment , not winning any more championships....jeter still has a lot more years to play and the yankees will win again before he retires....guaranteed
-
As long as he's running the show, the Yankees will fall short of greatness. They should let George Costanza run the team...
-
Go back to watching cricket on the telly, ya wanker.

The writer's strike and the Super Bowl have really helped House this year. (that, and much better stories and characters and actors) I long ago gave up on House as just another medical procedural show, ala CSI, (which I find boring as all hell) but I started watching again due to the lack of original programming this year. And you know what? I liked it, I really liked it. Okay, the show is pretty damn formulaic and predictable and the outcome is never in doubt, but you know what? It's a fun ride. And Hugh Laurie is what really makes the show, of course. The man is a gifted actor, with perfect comedic timing. And the new cast has been a really good addition this year. So, it looks like House is poised to be a break-out hit in it's 4th season...kudos! Oh, and Mira Sorvino needs to be naked in a movie, STAT!
-
... trend of incorrectly spelling words on purpose just because apparently some group of teenage douchebags however long ago decided it was funny after they first noticed someone make a typo. Honestly, people. "pwned"?? I wanna strangle an elderly woman every time I see that. I'm so damn tired of it. I can't imagine it was funny for more than about 14 seconds, if it even was for THAT long. Is anyone capable of writing in anything approaching an original way anymore?
-
Okay so that was just a follow up attempt to make sure to point the heart of my point right out in the open air subject line. ;)
-
The game was boring as shit. It wasn't a good a game. There was one amazing quarter, that doesn't make the other 3 quarters not suck donkey balls. The commercials blew too.
-
Or "teh"...shit like that. Never liked it, never cared for it. Nobody else cares what anyone else has to say either, so who gives a shit?
-
and heard a Family Fare grocery chain as that said they had "Everything you need for your big game party." Not having any awareness of sports competitions, I thought they said "Big Gay Party" and was impressed my how enlightened modern society was until I realized my error. Now I don't know where to shop for my big gay party supplies.
-
that Fox was able to air the episode of House scheduled for ten o'clock only thirty seven minutes late.
-
This was a great game!! Loved seeing Brady get knocked around like a tackle dummy. This was karma for Spygate.
-
No movie in the USA in the past 30 years has been seen in the theater by more than 10% of the public and the movie industry in general are still at .. what .. 20% of the number of tickets that were sold on a weekly basis in 1949 when the population was more than a quarter SMALLER than today. But, yeah, football is really a niche thing in the USA...
-
But the best Super Bowl ever (i.e. one that wasn't 7-3 in the 4th quarter) was Super Bowl XIII, where the Steelers edged out the Cowboys 35-31. There were 14 Hall of Famers on the field, the amazing catch by Lynn Swann, etc. And fuck that classless Belicheat. No Vinatieri, no dice, I guess.
-
was seen by 500 million people. and it had no commercials
-
Ooh yeah...
-
And if the moon landing had taken place today, there would be ads on the lander, commercials, sponsors, pre-game...er pre-landing telecasts. Step-by-step replay on CNN for 24 hrs. straight, all the fun media and corporate ownership goodness we've come to love and be subliminal slaves to. The game was good too, had $100 on the Giants at 10-1 odds.
-
If you had a guy like House who was able to consistently pull off these miracle saves eventually his underlings would stop doubting him at every turn. As a matter of fact they would become believers and start following the man like a stethoscope messiah. Seriously, they would would be in such awe of the man that if he diagnosed someone as having got space Aids from a Martian cow they would immediately start the dude on meds for space Aids, light candles put on their ceremonial robes and erect a House statue in the hospital lobby. Not to mention the throngs of believers and sick that would camp out on the hospital lawn.
-
...should kill themselves. Seriously.
-
The guy would have had every cynical fiber crushed out of his soul during his first ER tenure. I have never ever in my life encountered a hospital staff doctor who was so snarky, rude, gruff, and cynical with patients. To be a doctor in the first place requires some measure of compassion for others. People dont go to medical school because they want to make lots and lots and lots of money. Not when you can make more of it by getting into cosmetic surgery. They do it because they want to help people. House seems to despise that part of his job - he's like a male "Doctor Laura" who calls his patients names because they annoy him with their constant moaning and crying and need to be comforted.
-
House pulls off the saves at the very end, but almost always makes wrong assumptions and guesses for the first 50 minutes. If his team stopped doubting him, then there would be a lot more dead patients.
-
so some assholes decided to manufacture "NE Patriots Superbowl 42 Champs" T-shirts... well now that nobody can use them, they were shipped off to homeless people in Nicaragua!

Next: Giants take on cast of MASH, ratings crash through the roo
by mrmysteryguest

Is a doctor of last resort...a guy who works on patients with almost impossible problems to diagnose..he doesn't really even want to meet the patient because theres a good chance he can't help them since they have such a hard issue to fix..he takes away the compassion part of the equation so he can make the hard choices without dealing with the patient lies and family issues. He leaves all that stuff to his staff. Great show this ( damn I miss ROME )..

Eighteen and one! Eighteen and one! Eighteen and one! Eighteen and one! Eighteen and one! Eighteen and one! Does the truth hurt? Hey, Brady just got sacked again!
-
lemme get this straight....there's a million billion sports sites out there to talk about the superbowl on, but theres STILL no TB on here for dexter or prison break? what the fuck???
-
whats great is how in this country the only thing we love more that building up a hero is tearing them down. back in 2002 when the patriots beat the rams in the super bowl they became media darlings. tom brady was a cinderella story and america seemed to take him, his team of underdogs, and even the cranky coach into their hearts a little bit. 5 years and 2 super bowl titles later and america hates the patriots, finds them arrogant, wants them to loose, and calls them "cheaters" (nevermid the fact that ever other team in the NFL does what the pats did, they just didn't get caught) but anyway i digress.....lets get back to the national passtime: kicking people when they are down. nice.
-
A lot more dead patients may also be more interesting. How about a season of where he can't save a patient to save his... uh... you get the point. Then the other docs start to really turn on him.
-
Wow, just wow. But honestly, it was THAT cold down there and we got no nipplage?

Poster tough_times, I Had The Same Thought ..... Decades Ago.
by red dawn don
Poster tough_times said "If you had a guy like House who was able to consistently pull off these miracle saves eventually his underlings would stop doubting him at every turn." I had this tought decades ago. Except it was about Gomer Pyle, USMC. Every episode ended with a positive result for Gomer and the gang. You would think that Sgt. Carter would just chill out. I guess that would not have the comedy value. In fairness though, unlike Dr House, Gomer did do some pretty wrong things in each episode..
-
Oh man, all they had to do was put the red circle with a slash through it on the shirts (like the Ghostbusters logo). Giants fans and anti-Pats fans would snap them up at full price. I guess the NFL Nazi Authorities do not allow such funny shirts.

Hey Poster Bramton1, Did you Hear The One Where Tom Brady Walked
by red dawn don
He was sacked over and over again. I bet Tom Brady thinking about the Giants defense is like the goalie from SLAPSHOT-1 who kept freaking out over imaginary pucks flying at him. Their 18-1 hurts almost as much as 1-18.
-
He was sacked over and over again. (AICN has some odd auto-editing ticks.)
