Favreau, Vaughn, Billingsley and The Guy Who Plays The Mac!! The Final DINNER FOR FIVE!!

Published at:  Jan 31, 2008 2:02:09 AM CST

SPOILER ALERT !!

I am – Hercules!!

Jon Favreau’s “Dinner For Five” vies only with NBC’s old “Late Night With David Letterman,” I think, for the title of Best Chat Show Ever.

There are ads all over AICN today for the final episode, which features five players from “Vince Vaughn’s Wild West Comedy Show,” namely Vaughn, Favreau, Justin Long, Peter Billingsley and Kier O’Donnell. IFC.com has it online today only in anticipation of its IFC Proper premiere on Friday.

They talk “Iron Man,” “Wedding Crashers,” “Dodgeball,” “The Dirt Bike Kid” and loads more. (Long hilariously recounting his audition for the pervy brother in “Crashers” manifests one of many reasons I so revere this series.)

Especially fascinating is the tale of how Peter Billingsly went from star of “A Christmas Story” to the executive producer of “Iron Man.”

Anyway, the ads don’t have talkbacks, so I thought I’d throw this up in case anyone wanted to say goodbye.

Watch the final “Dinner For Five” all day Thursday here.

They spelled Favreau's name wrong in the ad.

    by immorganfreeman

And not the Favreau part, which one would argue as the more difficult of the two words to spell.

    Great Show

    by robfrombackeast

I'll miss it. Still, Favreau deserves every ounce of his success. As does Vaughn.

This show is one of the most entertaining and enjoyable shows I've ever watched. I can't wait to buy the series on DVD.

    This isn't a final episode

    by the funketeer

It's an hour long commercial. I'll watch of course but it's a little insulting to make this sound like it's a special final episode when everyone involved is connected to Vaughn's new movie.

    It's a good show

    by cherryvalance

If it is a "final episode" it shouldn't be. They should just keep it going indefinitely.

How can this be the final episode...

    by expert_40

... when I just bought the COMPLETE SERIES from Amazon? What the fuck, IFC!?I demand a DVD of this episode to add to the rest of the wonderful episodes I already have. This is seriously the best talk show ever. This is the show that really introduced us to Sarah Silverman. This is the show that had the immortal dinner with Carrie Fisher and Ed Beagly, Jr, talking about Star Wars, drugs, Hollywood parties, drugs, John Belushi, drugs, alcohol, The Blues Brothers, and drugs. This might be one of the greatest SHOWS ever.Still, having this "final" episode long after the series was finished makes me a little angry.

    It was a good series

    by chopper sullivan

But this episode really is just a commercial for the Wild West thing and Iron Man, plus them all patting each other on the back for the other projects they did together. Pretty lame for a "final" episode.

The final episode should have had Uwe Boll and Martin Scorsese in a grappling match. Brilliant show though I'll miss it!!!

    I remember the Ben Affleck/Jennifer Garner DF5...

    by pennsy

When Daredevil was about to come out and Jennifer was saying how sometimes she was mistaken for former Power Ranger actress Amy Jo Johnson. Only Affleck didn't know that, so he said this; "Who the FUCK is Amy Jo Johnson?" That one had Kevin Smith and Colin Farrell, too.

    It will be missed.

    Later

    by don lockwood

I was a big fan of Later with Bob Costas before it became Later with Greg Kinnear and then Later with Whoever We Can Get To Fill the Spot.

Hasn't it been a couple of years since they did one of these? So this is a "special" finale episode years after the show actually went off the air? I mean do they even show reruns on IFC anymore? I think it'd be more appropriate to call this a DF5 Special and leave it open for more later when Favreau's career hits the skids.

    what happened to Favreau?

    by captaingilgore

He used to be so cool. He was the underdog (Mikey!) that you loved to root for. Then Elf did well and the guy thought he was the messiah. I've never seen someone so arrogant as he was on The Apprentice. You direct one big-budget success (that really had nothing to do with you and everything to do with Will Ferrel) and you think you're the shit?? Try eating a piece of humble pie Favreau and get back to your roots.
