There are two things that truly scare a man: zombies and Valentine's Day. So to all of you Chicago-area men-folk, I've got a proposition for you. How would you like to combine the two? I've got a limited number of passes (each pass is good for two) to see GEORGE ROMERO'S DIARY OF THE DEAD on Valentine's Day (the evening of February 14, to be precise) in the Windy City.

Now let me be clear about a couple things. Romero will not be at the screening (which doesn't necessarily mean I won't be talking to him in the near future); and in all likelihood, I won't either. I'm running this contest because I know you guys really want to see this film. At a screening I hosted last week, I dropped a hint that I'd have passes for DIARY OF THE DEAD soon, and people went a little ape shit.

So here's what you have to do to win. Send me an e-mail at capone@aintitcoolmail.com with your name and the name of your guest. The subject line should read "DIARY OF THE DEAD Contest," and nothing else; don't get cute or I'll slap you down. In order to win, you need to write a short (50 words or less) essay on why you love zombies (let me count the ways).

I'm going to be up front with you guys--I’m going to favor sending passes to couples because it's Valentine's Day. However, I will read every single entry and if your response is inspired, you're in. When I say "limited number of passes," I mean it. So this is a contest about quality responses and not just enthusiasm. THE DEADLINE FOR ENTRIES IS TONIGHT (WEDNESDAY) AT MIDNIGHT.
