Caffee Refills!! Showtime Gives BROTHERHOOD Season Three!!
I am – Hercules!!
Showtime’s superb Rhode Island crime drama “Brotherhood,” which last year enjoyed renewed critical acclaim, a ratings uptick and copious Janel Maloney nakedness, has been picked up for an abbreviated 8-episode third season.
Season one of the series held 11 episodes, season two 10 installments.
No word on when we might see the new episodes, thanks to the ongoing writers guild strike and the threat of a Screen Actors Guild strike that might manifest in June.

It had to be said and oh ya...1st

Wonderfully written, superbly acted, plots that make sense. Go Brotherhood!!
-
Agree that Dexter is cartoonish swill in comparison. It's amazing what's popular in this American Idol/Grey's Anatomy world, and thrilling that a great show like Brotherhood is given another chance.
-
Hope they bring back the fat hitman who wouldn't tell Michael what the guy did.
Dexter is garbage in comparison. -
Definitely the best drama on Showtime and maybe the best drama period except for The Wire.
-
will have 2 episodes.
-
Season one it was Annabeth, season two it was Janel. And I agree, Dexter isn't fit to lick Brotherhood's balls.
-
but I think it might help fill the hole The Wire will leave in a few weeks. And kiddie crap like Dexter does not deserve to be mentioned in the same breath as great shows like The Wire and Brotherhood.

One of my five favorite cardassians. One of my five favorite romulans. I can feel the Sorkin scorn!

awhile back.

season 2 about 20 minutes ago. Had gotten behind in the middle and had the rest of the season sitting on the DVR. Jason Issacs is amazing as Michael. Little bit let down by the season finale, after last year's shocker, but a good show nonetheless. I like Dexter too, but the show would be unwatchable if not for Michael C. Hall.
-
Saw it in a interview with Julie Benz. I agree there seems to be a lot Dexter hate here.
-
but not as great as the Dexter haters seem to think. The Wire is infinitively superior to both shows but I still enjoy watching Dexter more than Brotherhood. The haters here most likely hate it because it's the top rated show on Showtime where as Brotherhood was pushing I think 300,000 viewers the first season. Comparing Dexter to American Idol and Grey's Anatomy is just asinine.
-
But for some reason season 2 never sparked with me, I mean it was still watchable stuff, but by the end I found the only characters I cared about were minor characters... And don't get me started on the whole Cousin Oliver syndrome after the excellent build up of Pete in the first season...

I've been hooked on BH since the first season. It's definitely one of the more interesting shows on TV, as is Dexter. My Sunday night lineup is safe for now. Thanks for the post!
-
For crying out loud, how long is this myth going to be perpetuated? She only remotely gets naked in the first season. She's in a bathtub in a dark bathroom. It's not like she's doing Tommy like you saw Janel doing this season.
That being said, I do love this show. It's so completely different than anything else on television.
Also, I'd like to thank Californication for finally giving me my naked Paula Marshall fix. I've been waiting on that for YEARS, man. Carla Gugino and Paula Marshall. I can die happy now. -
From what I have seen on the Wire is a bit too slow paced and although BH has it's slow moments, I like the concept of an Irish Mafia enforcer who has " family ties" to a policticion.Wheras The Wire has more of a "been there done that feel". Remember HBO's previous series; the corner?
that aside, The Shield kick both thier asses and I for one, can't wait till the final season airs. -
She's usually smoking pot with her boyfriend; no bathroom involved.
-
I was wondering why Brotherhood gets so little love, but I guess it does get some. It's so similar to the Wire (although not as good). I'm glad to see Showtime continuing to back it.
Strange to find three Dexter haters in a row at the top of the thread. That's the first time I've ever found anybody saying anything bad about it. I once saw a cryptic comment about how season 2 shows it wasn't based on a book, and I think certain things should have been handled a little better, but I still say it's the best show on TV right now. Yeah, the Wire is really well written, but I look forward to Dexter more.
-
Seriously.
-
Welcome back to Providence!!
-
How do these cable orders work? It's not like they're going to cancel it before the end if the ratings are down. Glad they can wrap up though, the finale was fucking excellent and the Caffees are really growing on me. Also Brian F. O'Byrne was a fine addition.
-
Great news but 8 episodes is pretty lame....I read in an interview with Jason Isaacs that he was contracted to do 6-8 series' of Brotherhood although i suppose this is dependant on ratings. Fantastic show though....
-
Brotherhood got better in its second season while Dexter got weaker. Brotherhood getting shorted to 8 episodes is crazy weak. Much weaker than the Wire getting shorted to ten. Showtime blows.
-
The Wire is great, but i'm excited to see Dexter on CBS. So many of my friends that i've told about the show, but they only get hbo, or dont get anything, now they finally get to be hooked like me.
-
Crazy huh?
Only complaint I have with Brotherhood is the pacing. It can be a little slow. Dexter was just excellent. -
"Brotherhood" is awesome. One of the best shows on television...easily. Probably the best writing on TV right now, too. I hope they renew for more than another 8. I also don't understand why "Brotherhood" tends to have so much trouble getting renewed, while shows like "Dexter" & "The Tudors" (yawn...) seem to sail into renewals; "Brotherhood"'s clearly the superior of the 3. Hopefully Showtime will get it together & give us many more seasons with the Caffees & co.!

At first, I was a little wary over season 2 of Dexter because they started to make him into a more 'normal' guy who just happens to serial kill. He was practically a different species in S1. But I think they pulled it back by the end with his conflict over Harry's rules. S2 was also very predictable at times. Still though, it managed to consolidate my love for it. If I like S1 of a show and S2 doesn't completely suck, then my love for the show tends to snowball. I am curious as to why certain people don't like it. Two seasons worth of episodes and not a single dud, by my count. That's mind boggling to me since so many of my other favorites ended up bombing in the second or third seasons.
